Dutch Savage and Don Coss are seated at a table near the ring, in front of a backdrop with the Rocky Mountain Wrestling and USWA logos. Coss welcomes us to Denver, Colorado for the very first episode of ROCKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING!
Coss runs down the matches that will take place on the show, and Dutch then introduces the Commissioner of Rocky Mountain Wrestling, Blackjack Mulligan.
Mulligan says he’s happy to be a part of the promotion, and says he’ll keep law and order around here!
Don Coss says it’s time for the very first Rocky Mountain Wrestling match, as Billy Jack Haynes faces the Missing Link!
BILLY JACK HAYNES VS. THE MISSING LINK. The fans don’t know quite what to make of the Missing Link, as he runs around ringside, then climbs into the ring and starts headbutting one of the turnbuckles! The young man from Portland, Billy Jack Haynes, makes his way to the ring, set to face off with the wildman. Billy Jack has the upper hand early, but unwisely delivers a headbutt, doing more damage to himself than to the Missing Link. With Haynes stunned, the Link works him over, dropping Haynes to the mat, and stomping away at him. Link runs the ropes, and delivers a falling headbutt right to Billy Jack’s ribs, but when the Link then goes to the top rope for the diving headbutt, Billy Jack rolls out of the way at the last second. Missing Link crashes face-first into the mat, and Haynes takes over, dropping a series of elbows to the back of the wildman’s head. Billy Jack pulls the Link up, and whips him into the ropes. Haynes then bounces off the opposite ropes, and delivers a brutal lariat. That gets a 2-count, so Haynes continues to work over the wildman, and eventually locks him in the Full Nelson for the submission victory.
Coss and Savage are joined at the announce table by “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and the hometown boy, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams.
Dutch mentions that they’ll be teaming up later tonight to face the New Zealand Sheepherders.
Duggan says he knows the ‘Herders are a dangerous team, especially with Jonathan Boyd in the corner, they’re wild and unpredictable . . . and that’s just how he and Doc want it! He says that they’re looking for a fight, and he knows the ‘Herders will give them one.
Williams agrees, and says that it’s not going to be a wrestling match, it’s going to be a fight, and he and the Hacksaw can’t wait! Williams then says it’s good to be back home in Denver, and says he’s got a lot of friends and family here tonight for this show, and he’s not going to disappoint them.
“RAVISHING” RICK RUDE VS. JOHNNY GUNN. Prior to the start of the match, Rude does his usual bit, calling the fans “fat, out of shape, Colorado sweathogs” and telling them to “button their lips and open their eyes” while he takes off his robe and shows the women in the crowd what a “real man is supposed to look like!”
Gunn is no slouch, and he gives Rude a tough match, but the Ravishing One turns things around and eventually puts Gunn away with the Rude Awakening neckbreaker at about the 4-minute mark.
Coss and Savage send us now to “Straight Shootin’ with Magnum TA”.
Magnum is standing by with Denver native, and former amateur wrestling and collegiate football standout, Steve Williams. Williams says it’s great to be back in the Rocky Mountain region, this is where he grew up, and these are his people.
At that point, Percival Pringle III walks into the shot. Pringle says he’s sorry to interrupt, but he has something to discuss with “Dr. Death”. Pringle says that, as he’s sure Williams is aware, he manages the Rocky Mountain Tag Team champions Buzz Sawyer and Matt Borne. His next step is the Rocky Mountain heavyweight title, which he understands will be awarded in a tournament soon, and he thinks that Steve Williams is just the man to bring the title into the fold. He offers Williams the opportunity to be the cornerstone of the Pringle Dynasty!
Williams says he appreciates the offer, and says that he will be Rocky Mountain champion, but the only people he needs in his corner are these fans. Williams then turns and walks away.
Pringle tells Magnum that this is just a minor bump in the road, and he chases off after Williams, presumably to try to change Doc’s mind.
Coss and Savage talk a little bit about the man that we’ll see in action next, a former football All-American at Florida State, Ron Simmons. Savage says that Simmons is only a couple of years into his wrestling career, but already has a lot of experts calling him a future World’s champion.
RON SIMMONS VS. DAVID SCHULTZ. Schultz is one tough customer, and he spends the early minutes of this match pummeling Simmons, not even giving the youngster a chance to get any offence going. Eventually though, Simmons is able to turn the tables when Schultz misses a legdrop attempt. Simmons works Schultz over, and then goes into a 3-point stance, and delivers a running tackle, leading to the pinfall.
“HACKSAW” JIM DUGGAN & “DR. DEATH” STEVE WILLIAMS VS. THE NEW ZEALAND SHEEPHERDERS: LUKE WILLIAMS & BUTCH MILLER (w/ Jonathan Boyd). Doc and Duggan were absolutely right in their comments earlier, this one is nothing but a brawl from start to finish! It doesn’t take long for referee Bill Alfonso to lose all control of this one, as we regularly see all four men in the ring at the same time. Late in the match, with all four men brawling inside the ring again, Jonathan Boyd makes his way into the ring, carrying the New Zealand flag. Boyd helps Butch and Luke gang up on Williams, but Hacksaw Duggan gets ahold of the flagpole, and ends up breaking it over Miller’s head, busting him open! Dr. Death is bleeding as well, as Luke Williams and Jonathan Boyd pummel him, but Duggan takes one end of the broken flagpole and helps Doc fight the ‘Herders off.
Referee Alfonso finally calls for the bell, declaring the match a double disqualification, due to the interference of Boyd and Duggan using the flagpole as a weapon.
The participants don’t care, as they continue to brawl, eventually moving to the arena floor, and then down the aisle and out of sight.
Coss and Savage talk about the match, with Dutch saying that he’s sure both teams will be looking for a rematch.
“MAD DOG” BUZZ SAWYER & “MANIAC” MATT BORNE (w/ Percival Pringle III) VS. ART CREWS & JOHNNY SMITH. Sawyer and Borne are successful in their very first defence of the Rocky Mountain Tag Team titles, when they get the win here after Sawyer drops Crews with a Belly to Belly Suplex for the pinfall.
Dutch and Coss talk a little about RMW’s sanctioning body, the United States Wrestling Association. Dutch says that on September 5, the USWA presented Labor Day Star Wars from Indianapolis, IN. The show featured the “Bruiser Brawl” tournament, and in the finals, it came down to two men, reigning World’s champion Kerry Von Erich and Freebird Terry Gordy! Coss says that now, we’re going to go back in time to September 5 at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis for that match between Von Erich and Gordy. Dutch reminds us that the World title was not on the line for this, or any of the tournament matches.

BRUISER BRAWL TOURNAMENT FINAL:
KERRY VON ERICH VS. TERRY GORDY. These two have met before, but rarely with so much at stake. The Freebirds’ vicious attack on Kerry, two weeks ago, have intensified things, if that’s possible. Bronko Lubich will try to control the action. Both men pace back and forth waiting for the bell. It rings, and we are underway. Kerry comes out a house afire. He goes right after Gordy, and we have a brawl. Kerry is all over Gordy, and Bam Bam rolls out of the ring. Von Erich follows him to the floor, and they continue to brawl. They both work their way back to the ring. Kerry goes for the iron claw! He gets it set, but Gordy reaches the ropes. Terry is desperate, and picks up the aggressiveness. Gordy slams Kerry, and covers him. Von Erich kicks out at two. Kerry moves in, and Gordy lands a kick to the midsection. This slows Kerry. Gordy attacks. The crowd is on their feet. Terry grabs Von Erich. He hits the piledriver, and covers Kerry. Lubich counts 1...2...3! Terry Gordy wins the ‘Bruiser Brawl’! The crowd is stunned. Marc Lowrance and Dick the Bruiser come to the ring, as do Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts. The Freebirds celebrate. Bruiser prepares to hand the $10,000 to Gordy. Hayes grabs the check and the mic.
Hayes, “Listen you old fossil! Give us the check and get back to the home! Now Von Erich, Bam Bam just beat you! The World Title is next! Terry is going to take that from you!”
Back at the announce table, Coss and Savage talk about the match we just saw. Dutch says that a lot of people were surprised that Gordy got the win, but he’s not one of them, he’s watched Terry Gordy ever since he entered the sport, and says that he’s known for a long time that Gordy has what it takes to be World champion, he’s not so sure that Terry’s association with that loudmouth jerk Michael Hayes is helping him, but he still believes that it’s only a matter of time before Terry Gordy is holding the World title.
Coss wraps things up and hypes next week’s show, which will see Buzz Sawyer meet Billy Jack Haynes, and the ladies will be in action as Heidi Lee Morgan meets Winona Little Heart. Plus, Percival Pringle III will be Magnum TA’s guest on Straight Shootin’.
