Michael St. John stood center ring and welcomed everyone to an exciting night of Tennessee Wrestling. He reminded everyone to be sure to tune in to WKPT TV-19 tonight at Midnight to see themselves on television! He said that later tonight, we’ll see the big showdown as Pez Whatley looks to beat the undefeated Botswana Beast!, and in the televised portion of the show we’ll see a main event of Tennessee Heavyweight Champion “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel & Jimmy Golden w/ Ron Wright facing Robert Fuller and Doug Furnas! The Tennessee Tag Team Title Tournament continues tonight with The Southern Boys against the Dirty Deaton Brothers, Joel and David.
He then introduced the first match of the evening….
(Dark matches before the tv taping)
Match: The Moondog & Cactus Jack Manson def. Johnny Rich & George South at 12:30 when Moondog nailed South with his big leg bone behind the referee’s back.
At ringside, he got a quick work with the winners as Cactus said they are in the tag team tournament, and will be the Tennessee Tag Team Champions.
Match: Bobby Jaggers pinned Rip Rogers with a back elbow and then a big elbow drop at 10:00.
Afterwards, he was interviewed by Michael St. John at ringside. Jaggers said that he came here to take care of business and clean out some of the trash. When he got here, his old friend Blackjack Mulligan told him about the tag team tournament, and said they should team up and go for the gold, so that’s exactly what theyre going to do! Next week right here in Johnson City, he and ol’ Blackjack are gonna tangle with the Moondog and Cactus Jack, and theyre gonna take out the trash!
St. John then told the fans that it’s time for the matches being taped for television, but to stick around after the tv main event for the big showdown between Pez and the Botswana Beast….

Les Thatcher and Joe Pedicino were at the set in the balcony overlooking all the action as they welcomed in the viewers at home. Pedicino ran down the card noting that the main event is going to be a barn burner as Robert Fuller and Doug Furnas take on Buddy Landel and Jimmy Golden with Ron Wright in their corner, The Southern Boys meet Joel and David Deaton in a tag team title tournament match, and we’ll also see Corporal Kirchner in action! Les Thatcher chimed in and said that we’ll also hear from new matchmaker Bob Armstrong tonight. Let’s go to the ring!
Match: Corporal Kirchner pinned Norvell Austin with a sunset flip back into the ring in a hot match!
Up in the balcony, Thatcher and Pedicino were joined by matchmaker Bob Armstrong. They welcomed him in, and he said he was so happy to be back in the great state of Tennessee. He said he has a few announcements to make right at the start. First, next week, there will be not one, but TWO tag team title tournament matches as The Rock and Roll RPMs face The Batten Twins, and The Moondog & Cactus Jack team up to wrestle Bobby Jaggers and Blackjack Mulligan! Next, he wants to show the fans here just how much he appreciates them, and is putting together a special card that will take place on Saturday night September 3rd at Freedom Hall right here in Johnson City TN, and a special card on a special night deserves a special name, so they are calling this The Saturday Night Special! He guarantees a hot card that night at Freedom Hall. Also, fans all over the region want to see this great wrestling action, so he is happy to announce that next Friday night, Tennessee Championship Wrestling will be back here at the Rec Center in Johnson City, and on Saturday night we’ll be at the National Guard Armory over in Kingsport, and on Sunday afternoon you can come out to the matches in Bristol at Viking Hall! And last, he just wants to say that tonight when Fuller and Furnas go up against Landel and Golden, that Ron Wright better keep his nose out of the match, or he’ll see to it personally that Wright pays through the nose with fines!

At ringside, Michael St. John interviews Steve & Tracey, The Southern Boys. They are excited for this tournament, and promise to do their best to win the belts for all their fans.
Match: The Southern Boys def. Joel & David Deaton at 13:30 with a double savate kick on David.
Afterwards, The Rock and Roll RPMS are in the balcony saying that if the Southern Boys are any indication of the talent in this area, they are gonna breeze through the tournament and win the belts easy.

In the balcony, Thatcher and Pedicino are invaded by manager Ron Wright, Tennessee Champion Buddy Landel, and Jimmy Golden. Wright goes off on a tirade against Bob Armstrong saying that Bob can’t count high enough to fine him, and wants to know where the fine is for Robert Fuller hitting him last week? He said that he has the two best wrestlers in the south right here, but they are sometimes too busy concentrating on the match their in to make sure nothing happens to him, so he has hired a personal bodyguard to do just that. A mean and tough man. A man that could cripple anybody around here. (With this, a masked man enters the frame). This right here is The Grappler! And he is gonna make sure nobody messes with Ron Wright!
Wright then sent him to the ring to show everyone what he is capable of….
Match: The Grappler def. Jimmy Backlund by submission with a claw hold.

Pez Whatley was in the balcony for an interview and talking about how he is going to knock off the big Botswana Beast when he was interrupted by manager Downtown Bruno. Bruno started running down Pez who got quite angry. Bruno said that the Beast is bad brother, and Pez don’t stand a chance. Matter of fact, if Pez is so tough, he’ll give him a chance to prove it. Next week, right here on TV, Bruno will put up $500 if Pez can break out of The Beasts dreaded bearhug! Pez said he can break out of it, and he’ll be glad to take Bruno’s money! All he has to do is set it up, and he’ll be here next week.
Match: Robert Fuller and Doug Furnas fought Buddy Landel and Jimmy Golden to a double countout at 12:20.
After things settled down, Ron Wright, Landel and Golden went to the balcony and said that they could whoop them boys down there any day of the week and twice on Friday!
From ringside, Robert Fuller got on the mic and told him to put his money where his mouth is and send his goons back down to the ring and we’ll just see!
Wright sent them back down as Thatcher and Pedicino wrapped it up for tonight reminding fans to tune in again next Friday night for more great action!

Match: Pez Whatley def. Botswana Beast by DQ when Downtown Bruno interfered. It led to Beast dropping three big elbows across the back of Pez. The Beast left lookin victorious as Pez clutched at his back.
