THE FINAL SHOWDOWN: JERRY LAWLER VS. TERRY FUNK(joined in progress)
Lawler pulls down the strap and goes to town! Dory sees Terry is in trouble and tosses the branding iron over top of the cage and into the ring! Funk grabs the branding iron! Funk swings the branding iron at Lawler! Jerry moves out of the way! The branding iron hits the top rope, rebounds and hits Funk in the face! Funk is reeling! He drops the branding iron and staggers forward! Lawler piledrives Funk! Lawler covers! 1...2....3!!!!!
During the rest period, Dory is shsking the side of the cage and yelling for Terry to get up! The rest period is over and the ref counts! 1...2....3...4...5...6...7....Terry is stirring...8...9....Funk tries to get up, but collapses...10! JERRY LAWLER WINS THE LAST SHOWDOWN!
LANCE: Yowza! What a way to start a show, Dave Brown! Welcome to Championship Wrestling! As you just saw, the King did what the King tends to do: his back was against the wall and he found a way to survive! Jerry Lawler is still here and he is still CWA World Heavyweight Champion! Let's bring him on out...THE KING!
LANCE: Jerry, son of a gun, Funk pulled out all the stops, but ya proved why you are the top guy here in the CWA and the Memphis territory!
JERRY: Lance, I've fought them all! As I said in a song once, the giants and the midgets and the punks! I've wrestled the Fabulous Jackie Fargo, Harley Race, Nick Bockwinkel, jack brisco, and I even pinned the nature Boy right in the middle of the ring to win the NWA title! Take my word for it: There is nobody tougher than Terry Funk! And I mean nobody!
LANCE: Jerry, it seems when they stack the odds and get your back against the wall, you just pull down the strap and fight your way through it!
JERRY: Yeah, that's the way that I've always done it and the way I'm gonna keep on doing it! I'd be out of line here if I didn't thank all of the fans! When the fans get behind me, I draw strength from that and I honestly think that the best wrestling fans in the universe are right here in this part of the country!
LANCE: That's just a natural fact, Jerry! Now, you can't rest on your laurels because this week, you have yet another title defense. This guy has been waiting a calendar year and he's ready to go! Let's take a look at the Universal Heartthrob, Austin Idol!
LAWLER: (shaking head) All night last Monday, Funk worked on my leg setting up for the famous Funk family spinning toehold! My leg is still hurting some and I have the master of the Las Vegas Leglock in my next title defense! Last year, I admit that I should have let Idol in on my little sting operation that I set up to get Paul E. Dangerously out of Memphis! That was my mistake, Lance. Austin has been stewing ever since. He's got tons of motivation and he really doesn't need it! He's tough no matter what! Idol and I have been tag team partners hundreds of times and I'll be honest: I'd rather have him as a partner and opponent! I also know that you fans love him! So, if you feel that you have to be loyal to Idol and cheer for him, believe me, I understand! Idol, if you can take this belt, I'll shake your hand and congratulate ya after it's over! But I expect the same courtesy from you! I hope that this doesn't sound too cocky, Lance, but after beating Terry Funk in a cage, I feel like I can beat anybody!
LANCE: Well, look out, here comes trouble!
Here comes Mid- American Champ Al Perez, Jos LeDuc, & their manager, “Number 1” Paul Jones!
JONES: Hey, Queenie, why is that bleached blonde blowhard Idol getting a shot and your Mid- American Champion, the Latin Heartthrob, the uncrowned champion, Al Perez, still waiting in line?
LEDUC: What about me, Lawler? I broke your stinkin leg! I put you in the hospital! You coward!
LAWLER: Paul, I don't know you real well and I've been wondering about something and these fans have, too.
JONES: What's that, Queenie?
LAWLER: Why is it you call yourself “Number One”, but you and these jerks you manage are full of number 2?
PEREZ: Really clever, Burger King! You are yesterday's garbage! You are passe! (flexes) Look at this gorgeous body! That's what it's all about today! When I wrestle in a few minutes, check out my state of the art wrestling skills! You thought that Funk's spinning toehold hurt you, wait until you experience my spinning toehold! You'll be my breakfast...snap crackle, and pop!
LAWLER: I'll tell ya what, punk! Just as soon as I finish up with Idol, you're next in line! You'd better take good care of the Mid-American belt, it's the only one you'll own around here! LeDuc, you already have a platefull, big man! I talked to Tommy Rich the other day and he said that he'll be back real soon! I don't think Austin Idol is finished with you either!
LANCE: Guys, we really need to take a break! Paul Jones will have his Army in 8 man tag action when we get back!

Carl Fergie, Chris Carter, Jim Jamison, & David Isley stand in the ring. We hear...
Paul Jones leads in Jos LeDuc, CWA World Tag Champions Bad Company (Paul Diamond & Pat Tanaka), & Mid American Champion Al Perez into the studio! Jones nad his men have a pretty easy time up of it except for Fergie, who Dave points out is Lawler's cousin. In the end, Perez forces the game Fergie to submit to the spinning toehold.
LANCE: I have to admit it: that was impressive!
JONES: (leaning over the desk) Hey, Queenie, ask your kinfolk how it feels!
LANCE: The Southern Heavyweight Champion is up next!
COMMERCIAL
LANCE: Adrian Street & Miss Linda are here! Street is the Southern Champion and this week, you have the former champion Jeff Jarrett with the Superstar, Bill Dundee in his corner to keep an eye on Miss Linda here...
STREET: Dundee, if you know what is good for you, you'll keep your grubby little hands to yourself! Miss Linda is there strictly to supply my needs and she has never interfered! Jeff Jarrett, you are never taking my lovely pink championship title belt! I improved your looks last time but since you have insisted on putting Miss Linda in harm's way, I think that I'll break your pretty little face this time! Lance can you imagine if I lacerate his pretty face and the blood satins his love blonde curls? That would make quite a fashio statement, wouldn't it?
RUSSELL: Well, he made short work of your Royal Executioner last week!
STREET: The Executioner was so distraught by the lack of rules enforcement in this country that he returned to England on the first plane out of the States yesterday morning! Whoever offifcaites the match Monday night, I demand that the rules be enforced and we wrestle with none of little Jeff's usual punching and kicking and tight pulling! In fact, Jeff, I'm about to wrestle right now so I suggest you watch and take notes!
Adrian Street defeats Gene Ligon via submission to the cobra clutch in a convincing non-title win. After the match, Street & Linda attempt to put a dress on Ligon, but Jarrett & Dundee come in and chase them away!
STREET: What are those bloody fools doing here, Lance Russell?
LANCE: They are scheduled for TV today. In fact, they are scheduled for an interview right now!
Here come Dundee and Jarrett...Street and Linda run off!
DUNDEE: They seemed to be in a hurry, Jeff!
JEFF: (laughing) Lance, I'm really excited here today! Today, I'm in a six man tag with two of the hottest young wrestlers in the sport! I'm teaming with Chris Benoit and Shane Douglas! We're really excited to show what wrestling is going to look like in 10-12 years! The, Monday night, at the Coliseum, I finally get my rematch! And I've got the man in my corner who can take care of any outside interference that Adrian and Linda can come up with! Street, I can guarentee that you won't put a dress or makeup on me this time! In fact, I might bring a wash rag in and wipe some of that junk off your face!
DUNDEE: Jeff, I've known Adrian Street for about 20 years and I know all of his tricks! If ya listen to my advice, there's not a doubt in my mind that you can take him! But when ya do, I expect a championship match!
JARRETT: That's the least I can do, Billy! One thing is for sure: When I take that belt back, I'm getting some paint thinner and I'm cleaning that pink paint off of the belt once and for all!

LANCE: I'm here with Fabulous One, Steve Keirn and his manager, “Number 1” Paul Jones! Coming up this week, it's “the Boogie Woogie Man” Handsome Jimmy Valiant!
JONES: Lance Russell, I've spent the last four years trying to destroy Handsome Jimmy! The reason he's still here is that I haven't sent the right man against him! Now, I have the man for the job! Steve Keirn, the Fabulous One! This man is a wrestling machine, Valiant! And he's got class! Look at him! Top hat, sequined jacket and suspenders, white gloves, walking stick! Look at you! You look like a street person!
HERE COMES HANDSOME JIMMY!
VALIANT: Paul Jones, you weasel! I am from the streets! Whoa! Have mercy! I was brought up on the streets and, look at my T shirt! It says “STREET PEOPLE USA”! Steve, I don't understand you! I always knew who the Boogie Man's brothers were! The King is Boogie's brother! Wildfire is my brother! Koko B. Ware is Boogie's soul brother! And I thought, I thought that the Fabulous Ones were the Boogie Man's brothers! But now I see you with this weasel! What happened, Steve, baby?
Keirn hands his cane to Jones. He takes off his gloves. KEIRN SLAPS VALIANT IN THE FACE WITH HIS GLOVES!
KEIRN: I got sick of low class losers! If you want me, climb up in the ring, Boogie Man!
Jones and Keirn head into the ring! Valiant grabs the mic from Russell!
VALIANT: Lancer Dancer, my mama slapped me when I was 12 years old! Nobody has slapped me since, Keirn! I'm gonna take you down, Steve and, Jones, you're next!
Valiant hits the ring and the brawl is on! Keirn and Valiant fight inside and outside the ring! Jones nails Valiant from behind and Keirn drops an elbow! Paul Neighbors counts Valiant out and Jones wins the unscheduled match! Keirn Fargo struts over to Lance, followe by Jones!
JONES: I told you he was the man for the job!
KEIRN: The Fabulous One just took Handsome Jimmy down! (to fans) What do you people think of your hero now?
LANCE: Well, I think you know this isn't over, Steve! We need to take a break! The Texas Broncos will be here when we get back!
COMMERCIAL
The Texas Broncos(Sam Houston & Kendall Windham) take on Bob Bradley & Steve Lombardi. The Broncos look ready for Bad Company as Windham pins Lombardi after a lariat.
LANCE: The King mentioned him earlier and now we have a videotape from this past week when “Wildfire” Tommy Rich invited us into his home. Let's take a look....
VTR:
Tommy Rich is sitting on a front porch swing.
RICH: Hey y'all. I didn't want the rasslin fans to forget me, so I invited the Championship Wrestling camera crew out here to my place so I could tell ya how I'm doin and where I've been. Ever since I came back to the Mid South in February, I spent most of my time rasslin Jos LeDuc. I gotta tell you that he's big and he's tough and he's nasty. When ya wrestle him, he's gonna hurt you and it's gonna be real bad! After my last match with LeDuc, I walked back to the dressing room and fell flat on my face! I went to the doctor and he said “Tommy, you've got a concusion and you've lost way too much blood! Go home and rest up for awhile!” Well, now I'm rested, Jos LeDuc, and I feel real good! I'm ready to come back and I'm ready for you! I'm farred up and ready for anything you got, brother! The Wildfire is comin back, baby!

LANCE: We're going to speak with the Double Cross Gang. Terry Funk is gone, but here comes Dory Funk, Jr., Dutch Mantel, Cowboy Bob Orton and a man who I don't recognize..... Dory, can we get an introduction for this fourth gentleman?
FUNK: Lance Russell, if you were a Texan, you wouldn't ask that question! If we were in Texas, he would get a standing ovation! I guess that's too much to expect from ignorant Tennesseeans! This man is a great Texas hero! Since Terry has left to pursue other interests, we have called on an old family friend! One of the greatest Texas wrestlers of them all, Killer Brooks!
Orton is cheering wildly as Mantel glares at the camera. Orton elbows Mantel and tries to get him to applaud.
RUSSELL: Dutch doesn't seem too crazy about the thing....
ORTON: Dutch, forget what happened in Galveston! That was 10 years ago! Water under the bridge!
FUNK: Dutch, I thought we discussed this!
MANTEL: OK! It's ok, I told ya!
Mantel shakes hands with Brooks, but neither man looks thrilled about it.
RUSSELL: OK, fellas, we need to go to a break. Hopefully we'll get to see Brooks in action soon.
BROOKS: Count on it!

This man id from Singapore and he is a great athlete like Khan and myself! Take a look at this piece of video that we brought in, Lance Russell! My Oriental Connection grows stronger each and every week! Weak American wrestlers like Condrey, Valiant, and McGraw had better prepare for what we have in store! Watch this, Lance Russell!
