Michael St. John stood center ring and welcomed everyone to tonight's card, saying we some great action coming our way, with Tennessee Champion "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel defending against Doug Furnas, and in the main event, it's the 2/3 falls Loser Leaves Town match with The Southern Boys taking on John Tatum & Jack Victory! And remember, to be back right here again next Friday night for more great Tennessee Wrestling action. Get your tickets before you leave tonight, and tune it later tonight to see yourselves on TV! (He then introduced the first match of the evening...)
Match 1: Tim Horner pinned Tama at 13:40 in a match that saw both men wrestle clean, and Horner win when he rolled through a cross body block by Tama and cradled him for the pin.
Match 2: Manager Downtown Bruno led the MOD Squad to the ring and ran down all the fans in the building before guaranteeing another victory tonight.
The MOD Squad beat Mark & Chris Youngblood after Bruno slipped Basher a nightstick and he nailed Chris from behind with it, allowing Spike to get the pin at 11:22.
Match 3: The Botswana Beast mauled George South and pinned him following a big splash at 5:50.
Match 4: "Pistol" Pez Whatley and Norvell Austin had a rough go of it and fought around ringside on several occasions almost getting counted out a couple of times. It ended when Austin missed a falling headbutt and Pez capitalized and quickly dropped a leg for the pin at 13:41.
Match 5: Tennessee Champion "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel and Doug Furnas fought to a double countout at 17:18. During the brawl on the floor, manager Ron Wright jumped in on Landel's side and the two of them put the boots to Furnas until Ron Fuller came out and evened the odds. Furnas and Fuller ran off their foes to stand tall at the end.
Intermission
After the intermission, Doug Furnas and Ron Fuller came back out to talk to Michael St. John and the fans. Furnas said that this is the third time that Landel has found a way to keep the belt without beating him, and he wants to put an end to it. He said that he has asked Ron Fuller to sign a match between the two of them for next Friday night in a cage to keep Landel there and to keep Ron Wright out! Fuller jumped in and said that to make double sure that Ron Wright doesn't interfere, he himself will be holding the key to the door at ringside! (The fans voiced their approval at this!)
Michael St. John re-iterated what we just heard, that right here next week, it WILL be Landel defending the Tennessee title against Doug Furnas in a cage match!
Match 6: Main Event 2/3 Falls Loser Leaves Town
The Southern Boys vs John Tatum & Jack Victory
The two teams went right at each from the opening bell as they are each ready to see the other team gone from the area. Victory and Tatum gave Smothers an illegal spike piledriver behind the ref's back and got the pinfall to win the first fall to a huge chorus of boos.
It took a few minutes before the second fall could get underway since Armstrong was attending to Smothers. Tatum got on the house mic and told Armstrong to get a stretcher here and get Armstrong out of here! He told Armstrong that he's leaving on a stretcher too, and he should book his hospital room in another state, because in just a few minutes he's gonna have to leave Tennessee!
Some medics came and took Smothers to the back on a stretcher as Armstrong was left to go it alone. He put up a heck of a fight but was soon overcome by the 2 on one advantage. Tatum and Victory took their sweet time and worked over Armstrong and heckled the crowd quite a bit. Finally, Victory made a mistake and Armstrong was able to catch him in a small package for the three count and even the match to a huge ovation from the live crowd!
Armstrong was getting his breath, but an angry John Tatum didn't waste any time getting the third fall started and jumped on Armstrong from behind. He tried several things to put Armstrong away quickly but couldn't get it done. Armstrong got a second wind and fought back. Victory came in from behind and pearl harbored Armstrong, knocking him into the ref and putting him down. Victory and Tatum then did a number on Armstrong. They taunted the fans for a few seconds and then were getting Armstrong set up to give HIM a spike piledriver as well. Just then, Tracey Smothers returned! On his way into the ring, he grabbed their confederate flag pole. Victory turned around just in time to catch a shot in the gut which doubled him over. Smothers then whacked him across the back sending him to the floor to the huge approval of the crowd. Tatum charged but Smothers ducked, and when Tatum turned around, he caught the flag pole right between the eyes!. Smothers tossed it out, then he and Armstrong set up and gave Tatum a taste of his own medicine and dropped him with a spike pile driver as the ref was coming too!! Armstrong made the cover and the ref counted three to give the Southern Boys the win and send Tatum and Victory packing!
The rest of the baby faces came out to celebrate as Michael St. John announced the winners and reminded everyone to be here next week!
The tv show that played later that night on local tv showed highlights from all the matches, and most of the main event.
