7/9/87
Don Coss, Magnum TA and matchmaker Dutch Savage welcome us to the Portland Sports Arena, where tonight we will see all three Sheepherders battle ‘Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer, ‘Maniac’ Matt Borne and ‘Playboy’ Buddy Rose in the main event. We have a new International Heavyweight Champion in Hercules Hernandez - and the champ will be here for some comments! Dutch Savage can also announce that by demand of both combatants, ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams will battle Billy Jack Haynes at the Portland Rose Garden on July 19.
Wild Bill Irwin vs. Top Gun
The man whose given Nord the Barbarian his toughest fight since becoming PNW TV Champion looks mighty good here against the capable Top Gun. The masked man gets his shots in, only for Irwin to wipe him out with a running lariat off the ropes. Irwin comes off the second rope with a flying knee drop to score the victory.
Winner: Wild Bill Irwin (5:04)
Wild Bill Irwin then joins Don Coss and Magnum TA in the Crow’s Nest for some comments.
Don Coss: “Bill Irwin, what a victory! You’re clearly ready for another shot at the PNW TV Champion Nord.”
Wild Bill Irwin: “Nord, you’re big, bad and nasty! You don’t smell too good neither! You might be undefeated here in PNW - but you haven’t beaten me! It takes a wildman to bring down a monster like Nord. I’m that wildman and I want that PNW TV Title around my waist.”
Don Coss: “There you have it, fans. We’ll be right back!”

The U.S. Rockers vs. ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude & ‘Mean’ Mark Callous (w/ Percival Pringle III)
Steve Doll and Scott Peterson certainly have the fans on their side as they try to play hit-and-run with the massive ‘Mean’ Mark. Callous is so agile for his side and manages to plant Steve Doll with a running boot to the forehead! Callous makes the cover, but Doll manages to kick out! Most men would have been down for the count after that one.
Steve Doll rallies back with some dropkicks that stagger Callous, only to get wiped out with knee to the gut. Rick Rude gets the tag and connects with a big knee lift, followed by a back-breaker. Rude and Callous have trapped Doll on their side of the ring, and cut him off from making a hot tag. Despite a brave effort, Doll is eventually pinned by Rick Rude following his patented Rude Awakening neck-breaker.
Winners: ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude & ‘Mean’ Mark Callous (9:02)
‘Superfly’ Jimmy Snuka is in the Crow’s Nest with Don Coss, looking on as Rude swivels his hips in the center of the ring.
Don Coss: “Superfly, you scored a major victory over Rick Rude last week - but he looks more vicious than ever and cockier than ever.”
Jimmy Snuka: “Aloha, Don Coss. Let me tell you this bruddah, the people know the Superfly. They’ve seen through all the years, all the battles, all the wars. The people know what the Superfly can do. The Superfly is ready, let me tell you that, bruddah. The Superfly is ready!”
Don Coss: “A one-on-one showdown between the Superfly and ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude is looming fans!”

Magnum TA is standing by with Billy Jack Haynes as we come back from commercial break.
Magnum TA: “I have to admit, I’m sorry to see what’s come to pass between yourself and one ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams.”
Billy Jack Haynes: “The fact is, Magnum, that Dr. Death has a chip on his shoulder. Now, that’s fine because so does Billy Jack! Two guys like us were just never going to get along. Dr. Death says he didn’t come here to make any friends? Good because he has none!
“I do have some friends, but I’ve told them all to let me handle this situation. I know the brutality that a man like Dr. Death brings to the ring each and every time he wrestles. This is a man that likes to hurt people. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I like to hurt people too. I hold myself back because these great people of the Northwest look up to me. But I won’t hold myself back at the Rose Garden, Doc. I’m expecting war and you damn well better believe that Billy Jack Haynes is ready for war!”
Magnum TA: “A very intense Billy Jack Haynes!”
PNW TV Championship
Nord (c) (w/ The Grappler) vs. ‘Mean’ Mike Miller
‘Mean’ Mike Miller has held all sorts of titles across the Northwest, even the PNW Heavyweight Title at one time. Miller is no pushover, but Nord is just a monster when that bell rings. Miller can’t seem to knock Nord off his feet, no matter the firepower. Nord eventually catches Miller point-blank with a boot to the jaw, and then flies off the ropes for a leaping leg drop across the chest. Nord with the cover, and he gets the three count!
Winner: PNW TV Champion Nord (7:45)
The Grappler doesn’t seem done with the prone Mike Miller after the match, and orders Nord to deliver another leg drop. Nord flies off the ropes and connects with a second devastating leg drop right across the chest. However, Wild Bill Irwin is in now with his cowbell and he chases The Grappler out to the apron.
Nord stomps over, but The Grappler reaches in and pulls his man out to the apron. Nord is fixated on Irwin, but he’s dragged away by The Grappler to fight another day. Bill Irwin helps ‘Mean’ Mike Miller back to his feet and shakes the man’s hand.

Our main event is coming up in mere moments, but first the new International Heavyweight Champion Hercules Hernandez is standing by with Don Coss.
Don Coss: “The circumstances of how you ended up here are suspect to say the least, but Hercules Hernandez is the new International Heavyweight Champion.”
Hercules: “First of all, if you ever talk to me like that again I’ll snap your neck like a twig, you hear me? You can lie all you want. Magnum TA can lie too! It doesn’t change what the people know - that The Mighty Hercules won this International Heavyweight Title right in the middle of the ring like the good, Christian athlete I’ve always said I am!”
Don Coss: “I’ll tread lightly here - but it appears you’ll avoid having to face Dr. Death or Billy Jack again for now, since they have their own vendetta.”
Hercules: “If you think I’m scared of Billy Jack or Dr. Death, you’re not just a liar but a stupid too! I’ve beaten them both right in the middle of the ring. What other man in the Northwest can say that? None! I’m the champion and I’ll defend against top contenders. Why? Because there’s nobody around here who can escape the Full Nelson!”
Wait just a second - look who is here in the Crow’s Nest!
Don Coss: “Look at this! ‘Dr. D’ David Schultz, it has been two long months since we’ve seen you here in the Northwest. You’ve been recovering from a knee injury inflicted by the Buddy Rose Army!”
David Schultz: “Don’t you worry none Coss, I still got my eye on the Blubber Rose Army. It’s a funny thing though because before I got hurt, I’d negotiated for an International Heavyweight Title match. Seeing as Nurse Death and ol’ Billy Jack seem to have other things cookin’ at the moment, the Good Doctor is perfectly happy to jump the line and cash that in!”
Hercules: “Now hold on a second, you’re a cripple aren’t you? What kind of champion would I be if I beat the hell out of a cripple?”
David Schultz: “A cripple, huh? Could a cripple do this?”
Dr. D boots Hercules in the gut and now these two men are brawling all over the Crow’s Nest. They’ve tossed the broadcast booth aside. Hercules whips off his title and goes to belt Schultz with it, but Doctor D dodges and levels Hernandez with a right hand!
Finally, Don Coss and several prelim wrestlers arrive to separate these two as they keep trying to get at each other. Hercules eventually grabs his International title and storms off with Dr. D grabs the microphone from the floor.
David Schultz: “Hercules, you and the whole world have seen that the Good Doctor ain’t no cripple! Dutch Savage, sign the match! Sign the match, baby! The doctor wants Hercules in the Rose Garden, baby!”
Dutch Savage: “You want the match? You got it, Schultz!”
David Schultz: “All right, baby. The Good Doctor is back and, make no mistake, he sure is spoilin’ for a fight!”
Don Coss: “Fans, it’s a wild scene here in the Crow’s Nest. Let’s go down to the ring for our TV main event.”
TV Main Event
The Buddy Rose Army vs. The Sheepherders
Playboy Buddy Rose leads ‘Maniac’ Matt Bourne and ‘Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer down to the ring for this six-man tag team match. Needless to say, all three of these men are furious over losing the PNW Tag Team Titles. It’s an all-out brawl once Lord Jonathan Boy, Butch Miller and ‘Crazy’ Luke Williams hit the ring. Referee Sandy Barr basically just stands back as all three brawl inside and out of the ring in the opening moments.
Eventually, the madness is somehow contained as Sawyer and Bourne make quick tags to isolate Butch Miller in their corner. However, the fiery Kiwi fights back with vengeance and connects with a double clothesline on both men. A tag to Lord Jonathan Boyd only serves to bring all six men back into the ring for another brawl. Behind the referee’s back, Buzz Sawyer belts Luke Williams with one of the title belts he grabbed from the ring apron.
The Mad Dog re-directs the referee as Buddy Rose covers Luke Williams for the three count. Buddy Rose, always a glory hog, steals a win for his Army! Rose celebrates with his Army out on the floor while Lord Jonathan Boyd stews in the ring.
Winners: The Buddy Rose Army (15:03)
Don Coss: “That’s all the time we have for this edition of Portland Wrestling. We’ll see you next week!”
