Pacific Northwest Wrestling:
Wrestling Warriors
5/21/1987
Portland Sports Arena
Announcers: Magnum TA and Don Coss
Wrestling Warriors opens up, as always, with Don Coss and Magnum Ta from the Crow’s Nest of Portland’s legendary House of Action
Don Coss: Hello, wrestling fans! We are days removed from the Portland Special - we have a brand new PNW TV Champion in Nord. He’ll be in action later tonight against Scott Peterson of the US Rockers.
Magnum TA: I’ll also have some Straight Talk with the International Heavyweight Champion ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams!
Arriving in the Crow’s Nest now is Lord Jonathan Boy and his masked compatriot Bigfoot.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: Hold on just a minute, gents! My partner and I myself, we’ve had all sorts of battles since I came back to this area. We’ve wrestled just about everyone - except those bloody tag team champions!
Don Coss: You’re speaking of ‘Mad Dog’ Buzz Sawyer and ‘Maniac’ Matt Borne of the Buddy Rose Army.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: Buddy Bloody Rose, I’ve always hated him! My cousins had so many wars with Buddy Bloody Rose, and so have I. I’m looking for one more. Rose, give me and Bigfoot a title match right here tonight!
It’s not very long before Playboy Buddy Rose arrives in the Crow’s Nest as well.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: What about it, Rose? Do you manage men or do you manage stinkin' cowards?
Buddy Rose: First of all Johnny Boyd, tell the people the truth. Buddy Rose is the man who ran your cousins out of the Northwest. Buddy Rose is the man who ran YOU out of the Northwest years ago. I don’t understand how you’re even allowed back.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: Here I am, Rose! What’s it going to be?
Buddy Rose: Boyd, you talk almost as good a game as I do - but unlike you, I can back it up! You want a title shot? Earn it. I’ll send Matt Borne down to the ring right now against your Bigfoot - if he can beat Borne, and trust me he can’t, then fine, you can have your title match next week.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: You’re on, Rose. You’re on!
Bigfoot (w/ Lord Jonathan Boyd) vs. ‘Maniac’ Matt Borne (w/ Playboy Buddy Rose and Buzz Sawyer)
Buddy Rose huddles with Matt Borne and Buzz Sawyer as the bell rings, the three just snickering. Borne and Sawyer just storm across the ring and attack both Bigfoot and Boyd! Boyd is tossed out to the floor, while Buzz Sawyer plants Bigfoot with a power-slam. Matt Borne comes off the second rope now with a knee drop across the throat. Buddy Rose is chuckling as Borne and Sawyer now stomp a mudhole on Bigfoot as referee Bill Alfonso throws this match out!
Lord Jonathan Boyd has a steel chair now and he chases the Army out of the ring. Boyd stands over his prone partner and then grabs the microphone from Barry Owen.
Lord Jonathan Boyd: You think you got rid of us, Buddy Bloddy Rose! You idiot! You said if we won, we got a title match. We just won by disqualification! My partner might be worse for wear, but we’ll be here next week for our title match!
Winner: Bigfoot by disqualification in 1.04
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Don Coss: Joining me now is Billy Jack Haynes, who won his grudge match against Hercules Hernandez at the Portland Special. It’s been a long road, but your grudge his finally been settled.
Billy Jack Haynes: I shed a lot of blood! So did Hercules. I’ll give the man all the credit in the world - he’s a one-man wrecking machine and that match could have gone either way. I got my hand raised, I got the revenge I’ve been waiting for the last few months. Now, I’m looking ahead.
Don Coss: What’s next for Billy Jack!
Billy Jack Haynes: I’m looking for gold, whether it’s Curt Hennig’s PNW Title or Dr. Death’s International Heavyweight Title. I feel like I’ve earned a title match. I’ll talk to Don Owen and I’m sure we’ll have an announcement real soon, Mr. Coss.
Don Coss: Nobody is more deserving of a title match than you! Billy Jack, ladies and gentlemen!
The British Bruisers (w/ Dynamite Kid) vs. Crush and Fire Cat.
Dynamite Kid is back - with a shiny new gold belt around his waist - and he has two other British wrestlers with him, Davey Boy Smith and Johnny Smith. This is a solid TV match, with Fire Cat really looking like a star with his incredible aerial offense. Fire Cat almost scores a pin on both Johnny and Davey with a springboard splash and a flying dropkick respectively. However, a brutal running clothesline from Davey Boy Smith puts Fire Cat down for the count to score a successful debut win.
Winners: The British Bruisers

Magnum TA: It’s time for some Straight Talk with Magnum TA - and standing with my now is the International Heavyweight champion ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams. Doc, congratulations on destroying Kamala at the Portland Special.
Dr. Death: Magnum, it’s good to be here!
Magnum TA: Now, I’ve been in the ring with you many times and I can attest to what a tough customer you are when that bell rings. We’ve got a lot of other tough customers in PNW. We know ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude has a guaranteed title match you for anytime he wants.
Dr. Death: I’ve got a message for ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude…
Hold on! Behind them, sliding into the ring is none other than…
IT’S HERCULES HERNANDEZ!
Dr. Death can’t even turn all the way around before Hercules drills him with a chain-wrapped clothesline right across the throat! The injured Magnum TA tries to get involved, but Hercules shoves him away!
Hercules Hernandez has the chain and he’s wrapping it around Dr. Death’s throat! Hercules is choking out the International Heavyweight Champion! Dr. Death is trying to fight, but Hercules is choking the life out of the champion! Now, Hercules pulls Dr. Death in and he locks on the full nelson! Doc is trapped in the dreaded submission hold!
Dr. Death doesn’t exactly have many friends in PNW, but the U.S. Rockers, Fire Cat, Crush and leading the charge Billy Jack Haynes hit the ring and Hercules backs off. The Mighty Hercules slides out to the floor and wraps the chain around his shoulders. What has just happened?
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Don Coss: First and foremost Magnum, are you okay?
Magnum TA: I’m okay Don, I just wish I could have been more help. Dr. Death is a man I respect and seeing him sneak attacked like that just makes me sick. I just want to know why Hercules did it!
Don Coss: We won’t find out tonight! I’m told Dutch Savage has had Hercules ejected from the Portland Sports Arena for his actions! Joining us now, Percival Pringle III, Rick Rude and ‘Mean’ Mark Callous. What do you make of what just happened?
Percival Pringle III: It looks like an interloper is trying to cut in line!
Rick Rude: Settle down, Percy. There’s nothing but time. I can have this title match any time I want. I’m more than happy to let Hercules and Dr. Death beat the unholy hell out of each other. ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude will be there when the dust settles!
Don Coss: In the meantime Mr. Rude, I’m told you will do battle with Hacksaw Jim Duggan right here next week on Wrestling Warriors.
Percival Pringle III: It’s a downright disgrace that Dutch Savage is putting Rick Rude in the ring with a cross-eyed hick like Duggan.
Rick Rude: It doesn’t matter. Duggan, I’ll do to you what I did to Rick Martel. Do you see Rick Martel around here anymore? No! And hey, your eyes just might be uncrossed after I give you a few knocks next week, Duggan. Now, Don Coss, you Portland pissants, shut your mouth and feast your eyes on a real man!
Tom Zenk vs. Nikolai Volkoff
The Russian stole a victory over Z-Man at the Portland Special with the help of his Soviet flag, but Zenk is one step ahead of him tonight. Volkoff seems befuddled by Zenk’s hit-and-run strategy, but he gets his shots in as well at some points. Zenk scores the big win after a flying body press off the top rope. Sweet revenge for the Z-Man.
Winner: Tom Zenk
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Don Coss: We’re almost ready for our TV Title match main event, but first we’re welcoming the Dynamite Kid and the British Bruisers to the Crow’s Nest. Dynamite, last time we saw you, you were fired by Rip Oliver. Oliver was then run out of Portland by the Army. However, it looks like you’ve fared much better with that big gold belt over your shoulder!
Dynamite Kid: I don’t give a damn about Oliver. I don’t give a damn about Rose. They are yesterday’s news, understand? This belt around my waist, I won it in the Tokyo Dome off me old rival Tiger Mask. That’s right, you’re looking at the brand new International Junior Heavyweight Champion. I’ll put it on the line against anyone at any time. Think you’re tough enough? Give me a go.
Don Coss: British Bruisers, you’re the cousins of Dynamite Kid and clearly equally as impressive.
Davey Boy Smith: My cousin said it best. We’ll take on anyone. We don’t care if they’re booed or cheered by these people. We just want a good fight? We’ll see if anyone in the Northwest can give us a fight.
Don Coss: There you have it. Let’s go up to the ring for the main event.
PNW TV Championship
Nord (w/ The Grappler) vs. Scott Peterson
Scott Peterson of the U.S. Rockers really gets the fans going and uses his speed to get some shots in on Nord. However, the big man is like a freight train and he bulldozes Peterson with a boot to the face late in the match. Nord comes off the ropes with a flying knee drop to score the pin! A big victory for Nord over the very game Scott Peterson. The Grappler raises Nord’s arm high in the air as we go back to the Crow’s Nest.
Winner: PNW TV Champion Nord
Don Coss: That’s all we have time for tonight! Hopefully next week, we’ll have an update on the condition of Dr. Death. He’s being checked out by medics now. Plus, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude against Hacksaw Jim Duggan and the Army defend the PNW Tag Team Titles against Lord Jonathan Boyd and Bigfoot. We’ll see you next week!
