Don Coss: Hello and welcome ladies and gentlemen to Portland Wrestling! What a night we have for you. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper is here, and tonight he’ll step into the ring in our main event against ‘Dr. D’ David Schultz of the Clan. However, Dutch Savage joins me first to reveal the contestants for next week’s one-night tournament to crown the Northwest TV Champion.
Dutch Savage: Thanks, Don! Right here in the House of Action, we’ll have eight of the most impressive athletes from around the world competing here to crown the Northwest TV Champion. I’m proud to announce those eight wrestlers now:
FIRE CAT
DEAN MALENKO
THE GRAPPLER
‘JUDO’ CHRIS ADAMS
DR. D DAVID SCHULTZ
CHRIS YOUNGBLOOD
FLYING FUJI YAMADA
DYNAMITE KID
Don Coss: What an unbelievable and truly international, line-up! Not only do we have guys like Fire Cat, Dr. D Grappler and Chris Adams who are regulars here in the Northwest, but veterans of the territory like Dean Malenko is back. Newcomer Fuji Yamada from the New Japan dojo is on the way, as is the younger brother of former Northwest Champion Jay Youngblood, the 'Firewalker' Chris Youngbllood! And the big one!
Dutch Savage: That’s right – the Dynamite Kid, former Northwest Champion, is back in the area. He’s here tonight, in fact! The ink is just dry on his contract, and so the Dynamite Kid will be in the title tournament next week.
Don Coss: An amazing coup, Dutch. In fact, let’s see Dynamite Kid in action right now!
Dynamite Kid vs. Stormy Granzig
The Kid is in Portland once again, straight from the Wigan Snakepit for a training session. He’s at a size disadvantage against Granzig, although Kid is tenacious as he brutally takes the fight to Granzig. A belly-to-back suplex dazes Granzig, and then Dynamite goes up to the second rope for the flying knee drop across the chest for the 1-2-3!
Winner: Dynamite Kid by pinfall @ 5:45
Don Coss: When we come back fans, the Rowdy Scott himself, Rowdy Roddy Piper will join me for comments on tonight’s main event!

Don Coss: Here he is, fans. Rowdy Roddy Piper is here, and he’s going one-on-one with Dr. D David Schultz right here tonight on Portland Wrestling.
Rowdy Roddy Piper: You know Donnie, I heard ol’ Ripley Oliver out here last week saying he had graciously stepped aside from a match with the Hot Rod in order to accommodate Dr. D. What a load, man! Oliver, you’re afraid of Roddy Piper. And I would be too if I was you! But I been talkin’ to Don Owen and has said that if I beat Dr. D tonight, it’s you and me in San Francisco, Ripley Oliver!
Don Coss: Wow, a major announcement!
Rowdy Roddy Piper: I’m full of ‘em, Donnie! I also want to say somethin’ to this Avenger. I understand you’re a man on your own. I’ve been there, man. All I got to say to you is that any enemy of Ripley Oliver is a friend o’ mine! I’ll shake your hand! As you for Dr. D, when I’m done with you, that perm you got’s gonna be straight as an arrow. Trust me!
Don Coss: The Rowdy Scott is here and he’s ready for action!
Northwest Tag Team Championship
The Southern Rockers vs. Sheik Ali Hassan and Abuda Dein
Former Northwest Champion Sheik Ali is a very dangerous man – and we know Abduda Dein is a tough customer as well. The Southern Rockers shake hands with fans around ringside – however, Steve Dane is at ringside as well now and asks for the microphone from Don Owen.
Steve Dane: I guess you weren’t listening last week, Doll! I said the Southern Rocker were Dane and Peterson, in that order! I’m giving you one last chance to hand over that belt to its rightful owner… or else!
Steve Doll and Scott Peterson confer for a moment, and then Doll dropkicks Steve Dane off the apron! A furious Dane storms off as this match gets under way. Hassan and Abuda Dein use their power to their advantage early on, but the Rockers have the fan support and rally back. Steve Doll eventually catches Abuda Dein with a cross-body block and stays on top for the three count.
Winners: Northwest Tag Team Champions The Southern Rockers via pinfall @ 8:17
Don Coss: We’ll be right back!

Don Coss: The International Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel is here! What a treat to have you here, Rick!
Rick Martel: Thank you very much, Don. It always feels like a homecoming being here in the Portland Sports Arena.
Don Coss: We’re about to see you in tag team action – with two good friend of yours, Northwest Champion Tom Zenk and Oregon's own Billy Jack Haynes. However, you’ll also be a big part of the San Francisco Special. You’ll be putting that title on the line on March 1 against Tatsumi ‘The Dragon’ Fujinami.
Rick Martel: That’s right – it’s going to be a great match. You know, Fujinami has held titles all over the world. He wants this one – he wants to join men like myself, Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen and Lou Thesz in the lineage of the International Heavyweight Title.
The interview is interrupted now because arriving on the scene is none other than…
CURT HENNIG!
Don Coss: Curt, this isn’t your interview time!
Curt Hennig: Coss, you should know by now that any time I want is Curt Hennig’s time! I got a message for YOU, Martel. See, at the San Francisco Special I have been forced into a Ladder Match against Tom Zenk for the Northwest Title. It’s disgusting that a man of my calibre will have to wrestle is such a brutal match just to get my stolen property!
Don Coss: Stolen property? Oh, come on Curt!
Curt Hennig: Stolen property, that’s right! Now you might be fine consorting with known thieves like Tom Zenk but I most certainly am not, Martel. So I’m here man-to-man to tell you to your face. I’m going to take back the Northwest Title, then I’m coming for YOU and that International Title. The Northwest Title is only a stepping stone for bigger things. The Northwest isn’t big enough for Curt Hennig anymore – it’s time I go international!
Rick Martel: Bring it on, Curt. I’ve told promoters all over the world, I’ll take on all-comers. If you somehow survive a beating from my friend Tom Zenk, sign your name on the dotted line and you’ll get your shot!
Curt Hennig: Martel, I hope you do beat Fujinami… because I want to be the guy who wipes that goofy smile off your face! Good luck, CHAMP!
Don Coss: Well, that was unpleasant. Rick, I’m sorry about that – but I know you have a match up in the ring.
International Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel, Northwest Champion Tom Zenk and Billy Jack Haynes vs. ‘Easy’ Ed Wiskoski, Art Crews and Scott Doring
Three of the biggest stars in pro wrestling are all on the same side of the ring for this next match. Excellent teamwork between Martel and Zenko keeps Art Crews isolated on their side of the ring. Eventually, Billy Jack Haynes makes the big tag and clamps on the Full Nelson. Art Crews flails around, but it’s not long before he has to submit! Referee Buddy Rose raises the arms of the victors. What a dominating victory for this trio of popular wrestlers!
Winners: Rick Martel, Tom Zenk and Billy Jack Haynes via submission @ 5:31
Don Coss: Our main event – The Crippler against The Rowdy Scot – is coming up next!

Don Coss: Our main event is almost ready to go – but Tom Zenk and Billy Jack Haynes join me for a few quick words. Tom, it looks like Curt Hennig sees the Northwest Title as just a stepping stone to bigger things.
Tom Zenk: He can think whatever he wants, Don! The truth is for two months he’s been trying to take this Northwest Title from me, and he hasn’t been able to do it. If it’s going to take a Ladder Match to settle this, that’s okay by me! I’ve already spoken with my good friend Rick Martel, and he’s told me he’ll be more than happy to put that International Heavyweight Title on the line against me after I beat Hennig. A lot is on the line at the San Francisco Special – and I plan on getting my hand raised!
Don Coss: Billy Jack, you have your own showdown on March 1 at the San Francisco Special when you battle Hercules Hernandez, hired gun of the so-called Boss.
Billy Jack Haynes: Hercules, I kicked your tail last week. I’m practically chomping at the bit, ready to do it again at the Cow Palace. You messed up, Hernandez. You didn’t finish me off! Now, I’m not just gonna beat you. I’m gonna hurt you! I’m gonna clamp on that Full Nelson, and I won’t let go until I hear snap, crackle and pop! I’m gonna send your Boss a message – I’m coming for him, whoever he is!
Don Coss: There you have it fans! I can hear Scotland the Brave playing here in the House of Action – that means it’s main event time!
TV Main Event: Best 2/3 Falls
Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. ‘Dr. D’ David Schultz
The Rowdy Scot makes his way down to the ring – but hold on! Piper stands smiling as the announcements are made He’s just been ambushed by -
DYNAMITE KID!!!!
Dynamite is absolutely mauling Roddy Piper - and tosses him out to the flor! Dynamite rams Piper into the steel barrier and snap suplex him on the floor! Referee Sandy Barr has already called for the disqualification as Dynamite Kid works over Roddy Piper. Hold on, here come Billy Jack Haynes, Tom Zenk and Rick Martel – and the Dynamite Kid slides out to the floor where he is joined by ‘Crippler’ Rip Oliver! Oliver raises Dynamite Kid’s arm as the Kid keeps threatening to dive back into the fray. ‘Killer’ Mike Miller is out to help Oliver pull a raging Dynamite Kid away from ringside while Martel, Zenk and Billy Jack urge him to bring it on!
Don Coss: Fans, I’m not sure of the condition of Roddy Piper here – we’ll be right back with the Fiesta Garden as Sandy Barr and Don Owen tend to Roddy.

THE FIESTA GARDEN:
WITH AL MADRIL
Al Madril: Hola, gringos! It’s time for the Fiesta Garden, and, oh boy, do we have two great guests today. You just say ‘em teach that Roddy Piper who’s BOSS around here, if you catch my drift! HAHA! Rip Oliver, Dynamite Kid, come on out here bubbas!
DYNAMITE KID AND RIP OLIVER, TOGETHER AGAIN!
Al Madril: I loved what you just did to Piper. You shut his big mouth up, and he ain’t gonna be able to continue against Dr. D now.
Rip Oliver: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, what the boss wants, the boss gets. Roddy Piper, you put yourself on The Boss’s hit list! The money came rolling in, and that meant that I could bring one of the all-time best Clan members back to the Northwest.
Dynamite Kid: Piper, good luck pickin’ your teeth up off the floor, mate! The Clan is back! The Kid is back! The Boss wants a dirty job done, and The Kid’s the man to do. I put everyone outside of the Clan in the Northwest on notice, the Kid’s gonna hurt ya! All of ya! Starting with those seven plonkers in the Northwest TV Title tournament next week! That belt is mine, bay-beh!
Al Madril: I love it. The Dynamite Kid is back in the Norhwest, and he’s part of the Clan once again! I guess we have to go back to the ring now – so Roddy Piper can surrender! Adios gringos!
We go back to the ring where Piper is up against the ropes trying to pull himself up. Don Owen asks him if he’d prefer to surrender for now. “Hell no,” Piper shouts as he tears across the ring and tackles David Schultz. However, Schultz catches Piper with a forearm and hurls him out to the floor, where he gets in some kicks to the back of the head. Schultz looks extremely vicious and he finally throws Roddy Piper into the ring so the match could get started.
Schultz keeps control early on and he manages to hit a brutal elbow drop off the second turnbuckle that almost puts Roddy Piper away. Moments later, Roddy Piper manages to duck an axe bomber and he drills the Doctor with a big right hand. Roddy Piper grabs Schultz by the hair and slams him head first into the turnbuckle several times and then connects with an atomic drop.
The force behind the blow causes Dr. D to sail backwards and crash into the canvas, and Piper is right on top of him boots to the head. Roddy Piper then climbs up to the second rope and goes for a big knee drop, but Dr. D rolls out of the way at the last minute. Schultz pulls himself up and then kicks Roddy Piper on the neck a few times, before quickly scaling the top ropes himself. The Rowdy Scot slowly gets back to his feet and when he turns around, Dr. D flies off the top and connects with a double sledge across the forehead!
David Schultz stays on top for the cover and hooks the leg, but somehow Piper is able to kick out just before the three count. Once Roddy staggers up, Schultz approaches from behind and locks in the sleeper! Piper is flailing here, but the Doctor has the sleeper locked in tight. It could be over! Seemingly out of nowhere, Roddy Piper charges forward towards the turnbuckle, and he manages to duck down just in time and Dr. D smashes his head into the top turnbuckle! Schultz sails backwards, and now both men are down.
Hold on, here come the Clan in mass! It’s ‘Killer’ Mike Miller, Abdullah the Butcher, Dynamite Kid and Rip Oliver making their way down to ringside – and this means trouble! Out come Billy Jack Haynes, Rick Martel and Tom Zenk to brawl with the Clan – and soon Mike Killer, Abdullah the Butcher and Dynamite Kid are fighting with them up the aisle into the concession area. In the ring, Schultz swings wildly at Piper – who slides away and Dr. D collides into referee Sandy Barr! Barr is dazed here as Piper now locks the sleeper hold on Schultz! What a reversal of fortune!
No, no, no! Rip Oliver has just grabbed a chair and climbs onto the apron. However, there’s a buzz as over the rail comes… Avenger! Avenger jumps onto the opposite of the ring with his 2x4 – and now a spooked Oliver drops the chair and backs off! Avenger stands at ringside as Oliver’s eyes dart back and forth between Avenger, Piper and Sandy Barr. Schultz is in trouble and fading here as Sandy Barr finally gets back to his feet. Barr raises the arm of the good Doctor once. It falls. Twice. It falls again. Three times. It falls again! That’s it! Against, the Rowdy Scot wins and earns his title match against Rip Oliver at the San Francisco Special.
Winner: Rowdy Roddy Piper, 2:1 @ 20:02
‘Crippler’ Rip Oliver is furious on the floor as he pulls Schultz out of the ring and helps him to the dressing room. In the ring, Roddy Piper has his hand raised and now he looks down at Avenger. Avenger jumps onto the apron and goes face-to-face with Piper. Hot Rod holds out his hand – and Avenger stares at him for a moment. Avenger then shakes Piper’s hand! And with that, Avenger jumps off the apron, climbs back over he rail and leaves through the crowd here at the House of Action! What a night, fans!
Don Coss: We’re out of time. Join us next week for the one-night tournament to crown the Northwest TV Champion!
