“Train Train” by Blackfoot plays, and here he comes, FREEBIRD TERRY GORDY, entering the ring for a long deserved shot at the AWA world title, a shot he has patiently waited for since September, having to defeat Abdullah the Butcher and Mr. Hughes to get here tonight in Louisville!



plays AND HERE HE IS, THE MAN OF THE HOUR THE AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, LEAD TO THE RING BY MISSY HYATT!!!!

Eddie is a man on fire, strutting to the ring all the way down the aisle, pointing both fingers to the ceiling at each corner of the ringside area, and doing a Fargo struts in the ring as Missy Hyatt applaud and looks on!

The bell rings, and it is clear that Eddie is doing all he can to avoid a direct physical confrontation from the much bigger Gordy, and like a cornered animal is able to scrape his way out of a few bad situations, and fights back against the bigger Gordy, but Bam Bam wears the smaller man down, and punishes him with high-powered moves, but Gilbert can't be pinned, kicking out of a few pinfall predicaments.

Gilbert stuns the bigger Gordy with a few dropkicks, then charges at him from the ropes, but Gordy staggers up and catches Gilbert and throws him through the ropes, and Hotstuff hits a table headfirst and then falls to the arena floor and is busted wide open!

Gordy steps out, and the ruthless Freebird gives chase, posting Gilbert, and throwing him back in the ring, and then goes to pin Gilbert:

NO!!!! GILBERT GRABS THE TIGHTS, AND REVERSES THE ROLLUP, 1-2- . . .GORDY KICKS OUT, WHAT RESILIENCY BY EDDIE GILBERT! Gordy staggers up, and stomps at Gilbert, but Gilbert rolls away, then charges at Gordy's legs, and punches at Gordy! Gordy covers up, and rolls out of the ring! Gilbert stand ups, wipes his bloody brow, and yells for crowd approval, and fans:

A FEW FANS ARE CHEERING FOR EDDIE! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? All right, not many, but still.

Gordy enters the ring again, and a series of moves later, power bombs Eddie, rolls him up:

NO! GILBERT DUCKS, AND LANDS A FEW PUNCHES TO GORDY’S MID-SECTION AND THEN GOES FOR THE BIG MANS LEGS, AND TAKE HIM DOWN, AND GETS A HEAD LOCK ON GORDY AND STANDS GORDY UP, THROWS HIM TO THE ROPES:

Gordy is forced to break the hold and Gordy approaches Eddie but Eddie attacks Gordy with the fans behind him with lefts, rights and kicks and backs the bigger man up, and then KNOCKS GORDY DOWN, and goes to the rope rope for a knee drop:

The ref gets the belt from the referee as Hughes and Victory enter the ring, and check on Gilbert, then turn their attentions to GORDY!

WAIT! GILBERT, still kneeling on the mat, demands the house mike!

Eddie: "WHOOOA, WHOOA, WHOOOA, there fellas, hold on for a minute, because Hotstuff has something HE wants to say!

Gilbert is breathing heavily on the mike: “Terry . . Gordy . . . .I always said it would take one hell of a man . . . to beat Eddie Gilbert. Tonight . . . you are that one HELL OF A MAN. REFEREE GIVE ME THAT BELT!

The ref hands Eddie the AWA belt! WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?

Eddie: “Terry Gordy . . . .

EDDIE STANDS UP WITH THE BELT . . .

Eddie: “I want to PERSONALLY give this belt to you, and congratulate you for being the NEW AWA WORLD CHAMPION!

EDDIE HANDS GORDY THE BELT, AND SHAKES HIS HAND! GORDY ACCEPTS, AND PROUDLY SHOWS THE LOUISVILLE CROWD THE AWA WORLD TITLE BELT FOR ALL TO SEE, BUT WAIT, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?

DR. CALLIS IS NOT HAPPY, AND SHOVES EDDIE TO THE CORNER! Gilbert then GRABS DR. CALLIS BY THE TIE, AND REVERSES HIM TO THE CORNER, AND RAISES HIS FIST:

JACKO AND HUGHES HEAD OVER AND BREAK THE TWO UP, AND THERES A HEATED ARGUMENT BETWEEN GILBERT AND DR. CALLIS AS TERRY GORDY LOOKS ON, HOLDING HIS BELT, DUMBFOUNDED! Missy jumps on the ring apron to mediate!

Finally, after some discussions, Eddie raises his hands up as if to say no problem, and turns his back on Callis and his comrades, and starts to leave the ring, it looks as if everything is good to go here at Hotst . . . .

HUGHES AND JACK VICTORY, APPARENTLY UNDER THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CONTROL OF DR. CALLIS, BATTER THEIR FORMER LEADER, Terry Gordy, exhausted already, tries to help Eddie but Hughes and Jacko pummel him too and then keep kicking and punching and stomping a n already bruised, and battered, and bloodied Eddie Gilbert when what is this?

Chris: “Welcome and hello this is AWA Southern Championship Wrestling, WE WRESTLE HERE, and we are coming to you this week from EVANSVILLE, INDIANA! The big news coming out of Louisville is we have a NEW World Heavyweight Champion his name is Terry Gordy, and almost as big of news is that EDDIE GILBERT, the former champion, apparently is OUT as leader of Hotstuff International and has left the AWA, here to answer MY questions are . . . MISSY HYATT . . .MISTER HUGHES . . JACK VICTORY . . . . and the mystery man himself:


“DOCTOR DON CALLIS!

“Hotstuff” PLAYS AND HERE THEY ARE, TRAITORS ALL OF THEM!

Chris: “Conspicuous by his absence is the former champion Eddie Gilbert, who made a noble and sportsmanlike gesture, and handed his AWA belt to Terry Gordy, Doctor Don Callis, after which under your direction, THESE two men attacked him! I have to tell you, sir, it was one of the most disgusting acts of betrayal I have EVER seen!

Doctor rubs his chin, laughing: “Well, Mister Chris Cruise I am sorry that you feel that way, but sadly, in life, the needs of the organization at times are at odds with the needs of the individual. You see, Miss Hyatt brought me to Hotstuff International here because she said that Eddie Gilbert’s behavior was becoming more and more erratic, unpredictable, and she was worried about the future of Hotstuff International.

“When I saw him hand the belt to Terry Gordy, it was then that I realized what needed to be done. The only way to protect Hotstuff International . . . was to remove Eddie Gilbert from the equation. And that is exactly what we did in Louisville, ha ha.

Chris: “Missy, you and Eddie Gilbert were always very close. The entire wrestling world knows that. But now, here you are, standing side by side with The Doctor. How do YOU feel about Eddie Gilbert, the former AWA champion, being so unceremoniously removed from Hotstuff International?

WAIT!

The Doctor comes over, and lifts up Missy’s chin! Missy is clearly upset, and she looks as if almost in tears!

Doctor: “I can answer that, Chris Cruise. Missy Hyatt has shown nothing but strength this whole time, and she is 100% on board with doing what needed to be done for Hotstuff International.

“Isn’t that right, Missy?

THE DOCTOR PUSHES UP ON MISSY'S CHIN, AND TAKES OFF HIS SUNGLASSES, AND GLARES INTO HER EYES!

And, now, under my guidance, now that the cancer, the tumor has been surgically extracted, I will take the reins of Hotstuff International , and we will HEIGHTS NEVER BEFORE BELIEVED IMPOSSIBLE! “There has been a tragic loss in the world of professional wrestling, one which will have a tremendous impact on our sport for years to come. At this time, I bring you these prerecorded comments from the Commissioner of the American Wrestling Association, Jerry Jarrett.

Jerry Jarrett: “Hello, friends. It is with tremendous shock and great sadness that I regret to inform all of you of the passing away of Eddie Gilbert February 18, in Puerto Rico, of a heart attack.

“While Eddie was no longer an active employee of this wrestling promotion at the time of his passing, I cannot express in words the grief that has overcome not only me personally, but the entire wrestling community, as well as fans worldwide upon the release of this news.

“Eddie was only 33, and our entire promotion is in shock at the loss of our former champion. No one loved or sacrificed more for the business than Eddie, and I feel would not have blamed us for showing you our regularly scheduled wrestling TV show this week as we cope with this loss, and struggle to find the best, and most appropriate way to honor his legacy.

"And that is exactly what the AWA plans to do.

“Over the past few days, I have reached out to promoters from around the world, even rival promoters, to obtain as much videotape of Eddie Gilbert's career as possible so we may produce and present you a world class tribute special of Eddies greatest matches, including maybe his best of all, his very final match which was against against new AWA world champion Terry Gordy.

“In addition, the AWA has also opened talks with promotions around the world, including even rival promotions, and arena owners, to put together what we intend to be an unforgettable memorial card, with all proceeds going to a worthy cause.

“We beg your indulgence as it will take time to properly organize these two tributes to this great wrestler, so that we may appropriately honor his memory. In the meantime, we ask each and every fan to offer the best tribute they can, as of right now: pray for Eddie Gilbert’s family, and do what Eddie would have wanted each and every one of us to do: as sad as it might be considering the circumstances, enjoy this next hour of wrestling, and please keep in mind it was videotaped before we heard this tragic news.

“There are so many legends here in the AWA, so it begs the question, who will your opponent be? Mr. Saito? Steve Keirn? A member of the Midnite Express? Austin Idol? A rematch for Bob Armstrong, perhaps? The world awaits your answer, sir.

Chris Candido: “Mr. Chris Cruise, I am so talented, so good looking, and so athletically blessed, I could beat all of those chumps with one hand tied behind my back, I AM a former Canadian Heavyweight Champion after all.

“No, see Mr. Cruise, I am here in the AWA looking for bigger fish to fry, to defeat a man that will guarantee me a shot at my destiny: to become the NEW AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. But there is one man that stands in the way of my destiny.
