Air Date: 7-2-1994
<b>PROGRAM START</b>
<b>VTR: MLW TITLE TOURNAMENT – ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.</b>
<u><i>JIP- 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka versus The Honky Tonk Man (Opening Round)...</i></u>
The program starts this week with Kevin Kelly narrating footage from the MLW Heavyweight Title Tournament. Kelly lets the fans know that they will see action from all of the opening round matches today as the tournament opens to crown the first ever MLW Heavyweight Champion. The footage is joined with Honky Tonk Man in control of the action as he is putting his feet on the bottom rope while holding 'the Superfly' in a front face lock. The referee eventually catches HTM and orders a break, but Honky is still at the advantage as he stomps away at Snuka. Honky is now showboating as he signals that he is going to go for the 'Shake, Rattle & Roll', but Snuka grabs the top rope at the last second and the back of Honky's head goes crashing down into the canvas. From there, 'Superfly' fires back with some big chops and a jumping headbutt before scaling to the top. It looks like Snuka's going to go for 'the Super Fly', but HTM makes it to his feet too soon so he has to settle on a flying cross body to get the fall. Jimmy Snuka has advanced to the second round of the tournament...
RESULT: JIMMY SNUKA BY PINFALL (10:32)(apox. 6-7 minutes aired)

From there, the program continued with Kelly letting the fans know that they would also be getting another look at <b>The Lifeguards</b>, who will be debuting soon in Major League Wrestling. Plus, a special treat in concerning the upcoming Independence Day holiday as we will take a look back at Sgt. Slaughter and Sgt. Pittman as they led the crowd in the 'Pledge of Allegiance'. Major League Wrestling returned with Kevin Kelly and Jay Sulli at the broadcast booth as they continued to hype the MLW Heavyweight Title Tournament as they introduced the next match with some pretaped comments from 'the Family' that included 'The Don' predicting a victory for Bundy against The Renegade Warrior and also Muraco saying that 'when the dust settles' and 'all is said and done' that it would be 'the Family' in possession of the MLW Title...

<u> <b>MATCH #1: THE RENEGADE WARRIOR vs. KING KONG BUNDY (Opening Round)</b> </u>
The Warrior stormed the ring and immediately took the fight to Bundy and Muraco as he he the both of them with a double noggin knocker that sent Muraco falling out of the ring. From there the Renegade went for a body slam, just like he had done last week, but this time Bundy was ready for him and fell right on top of the Warrior with all his weight to get a near fall. It looks as though the Renegade may have injured his ribs there. From there, Bundy was like a shark smelling blood as he singled in on the injury and really went after the Renegade. Bundy caught Warrior with a big splash, but somehow Warrior barely kicked out. Bundy continued the onslaught, but somehow a hobbled Renegade managed to 'suck it up
and fire back with a series of clotheslines that left the big man off balance. The Warrior then hit a big flying shoulder block that knocked Bundy through the ropes and to the floor. The painted Warrior probably could have taken a count out victory at that point, but that wasn't his style and he exited the ring to continue to take the fight to Bundy. At this time, Don Jr. came out to ringside and tied up the referee for long enough that he did not see that the Renegade was having to fight off both Bundy and Muraco outside of the ring. This time, the two on one advantage was too much for the Renegade as Muraco wrapped the already injured Renegade around the steel ring post and grabbed his arms so he could not move while Bundy hit an avalanche to the Renegade's back. Just like that the Renegade was crumbled in a heap on the ground and the referee hadn't seen a thing! Don Jr. then left the ringside area as Bundy returned to the ring while the Renegade was counted out. What a miscarriage of justice! Look at Muraco... He's acting like he had nothing to do with it!
RESULT: KING KONG BUNDY BY COUNT OUT (8:01)

Major League Wrestling returned with Kelly & Sulli taking a brief break from the tournament to talk a little bit about the 'new team' that was 'coming soon' to Major League Wrestling, <b>The Lifeguards</b>. Kelly let it be known that their names were Keith and Kent and that they were identical twins from Huntington Beach, California. The brother duo were portrayed as doing well in athletics growing up and a couple of guys that 'just liked to have fun'. The announcers then went to a music video for the Lifeguards that had them running around on the beach in a video that somewhat resembled the opening to the hit show 'Bay Watch'...

<i> Major League Wrestling then returned with Kelly & Sulli saying that they were trying to see if they could get an update on the condition of the Renegade Warrior as he had been taken to the hospital. The announcers then continued to blame Don Muraco and 'the Family' for this as Don's match was coming up next. 'The Don' then stopped by the announce area and said that he hoped the Renegade 'got well soon'. He then proceeded to tuck a $100 bill in Sulli's coat pocket and tell Jay...
'Here... Why don't you send him some flowers and a nice card...' as he made his way to the ring...</i>

<u><b>MATCH #2: 'THE DON' MURACO vs. SGT. CRAIG PITTMAN (Opening Round)</b></u>
Pittman goes right after Muraco at the opening bell as the announcers insinuate that Muraco had sent his 'goons' after Pittman last week in hopes to give him the advantage here in the tournament match. It doesn't appear to have worked in the early going as Pittman is really taking the fight to Muraco with fists and fury that has 'the Don' reeling and looking for a place to hide. Eventually, the veteran is able to 'bend the rules' and take over the contest after a thumb to the throat that was cleverly shielded from the view of the referee. Muraco controlled the next several minutes of the contest, but Pittman was eventually able to suck it up and mount a comeback. Muraco was in trouble at that point and kept looking towards the entrance way for help from his 'Family', but all he ended up seeing was <b>Sgt. Slaughter</b> who came out and 'set up shop' with a steel chair to be on the look out for any possible interference. Pittman attempted to go for the belly to back suplex, but Muraco reversed with a go behind as time was running out. Pittman swapped positions at the bell and was able to nail Muraco with the suplex, but it was too late to make the cover. The 15 minute time limit had expired. At this time, Family members entered the ring, as did Sgt. Slaughter with the steel chair. Commisioner <b>Tod Gordon</b> then came out and announced that 'there must be a winner' as someone 'must advance in the tournament' so he was going to give both men 'FIVE MORE MINUTES' to settle things. He then sent both Slaughter AND all of 'the Family' members to the back and barred them from ringside, saying that he wasn't going to have what happened to the Renegade happen again here tonight! Action continued for another five minutes, but once again neither man was able to get the win. Gordon now had a tough decision. The commissioner said that he would love to let these two men 'fight all night', but that he couldn't do that with 'all of the other matches' on the card. He then asked if both men would agree to let the winner of a coin flip advance to the next round. Both men agreed and when all was said and done it was Muraco that called heads and won the toss to advance. Upon seeing the coin was on heads, 'the Don' bellowed 'Things ALWAYS come up on heads for me!”
RESULT: MURACO BY COIN FLIP (20:00)

MLW returned from break with Kelly & Sulli recapping the ongoing feud between <b>Sgt. Slaughter & Sgt. Craig Pittman</b> and <b>The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff</b> as the announcers promoted the upcoming tournament match between Slaughter and Volkoff in today's Main Event. Pretaped comments from Slaughter were aired in which he 'vowed revenge' against Volkoff and Adnan for 'all of the pain' they had caused him 'both physically and mentally'. Slaughter then said that he was back and 100% healthy now and that he was going to win the belt 'for America' as the 4th of July approached because he can think of no better way to celebrate Independence Day then by 'freeing' Major League Wrestling from the 'Evil Axis' of Adnan, Sheik and Volkoff...
<i>The program then went to break with a look back at two weeks ago on the program as Sgt. Slaughter 'gave the ball' to Sgt. Pittman after their big victory over Sheik and Volkoff...</i>

Major League Wrestling returned with Kelly and Sulli preparing the fans for today's big Main Event as the opening round of the tournament concludes. <u><b>MATCH #3: SGT. SLAUGHTER vs. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF (Opening Round)</b></u>
Kelly announced that both Sgt. Pittman and The Iron Sheik had been 'barred from ringside' for this contest as part of Commissioner Gordon's continued attempts to restore order here tonight after the injury to the Renegade Warrior, who Kelly says he now understands is being tended to at the hospital, but no further updates other than that. This is a plodding match, but both guys are able top work the crowd and keep the fans into the match, particularly when Slaughter is whipped into the corner and takes a nasty fall over the top turnbuckle to the floor. Volkoff followed Slaughter to the floor and attempted to post him with an Irish whip, but Sarge reversed and it was Big Nikolai that tasted the steel. Both men were able to roll back into the ring and just barely beat the referee's ten count. Action continued with both men crawling to one another, propping each other up and working their way to their feet groggily as they began to exchange punches. The crowd started chanting 'U....S....A.... U.....S.....A....' and Slaughter was able to use to moral support to mount a comeback. Slaughter 'loaded up' and hit the 'Slaughter Cannon' to get the fall in a hard fought victory over his Russian counterpart...
RESULT: SGT. SLAUGHTER BY PINFALL (11:10)

<i>Following the contest, General Adnan attempted to jump Slaughter from behind, but the Sarge moved out of the way and Adnan ended up falling through the ropes right at the feet of the defeated Volkoff. Slaughter then grabbed an American flag and led the fans in a big 'U.S.A.' chant as the program went to break...</i>
