Tony Schiavone, Terry Taylor, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes
Tony, Terry, and Dusty open the show discussing the monumental Halloween Havoc that saw the end of an era; Nature Boy Ric Flair said an emotional goodbye to WCW last night after competing in what Dusty calls the best cage match since Tully/Magnum. They show highlights of the contest. Tony mentions that IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Keiji Mutoh, was on hand as a guest of WCW. We go to EXCLUSIVE post show bonus footage.
Mutoh in a suit with the IWGP Title over his shoulder approaches World Champ Curt Hennig in his locker-room, translator in tow. Mutoh congratulates Hennig and says that defeating Ric Flair is the most difficult thing Mutoh has ever attempted, and that Mutoh have great respect for Hennig san.
Hennig is bruised, battered, and covered in his own blood, but acknowledges the congratulations and says that Keiji is someone Curt has respected for many years and he appreciates the compliment.
That is when, through his translator, Keiji Mutoh challenges Curt to a MATCH TO DETERMINE WHO IS THE BEST WRESTLER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!! Curt looks at Mutoh, and says, “let me think about it Champ. I have been thinking about nothing but Ric Flair for months, I know there is no rest for the weary when you are World Champion, but give me a little time.” Mutoh nods and bows to the champ and they shake hands.
Bob Caudle has an interview with US Champion Roddy Piper who is giddy about his win over Lex Luger. Luger, Sting, and JJ thought they had all the answers, so Hot Rod changed the questions. He issues a warning to Sting to forget about Piper because messing with the Rowdy Scot would be the end of his career and if he didn’t believe him just ask his buddy Lex Luger whose brain must be an oozing pile of mush after Sting waffled him with that chair last night. Piper goes on to say that “Muter” needs to pump the brakes because the only champion who should getting a shot at Curt Hennig is the United States Champion, not the Japanese Champion, and Piper assures us that Hennig and Dillon will agree.
Bob Caudle is with Col. Robert Parker and WCW World Tag Team Champions The Super Models who are ready for some brand new competition after disposing of Harlem Heat and The Steiner Brothers in consecutive PPV’s. Caudle address’ the Models mode of victory in each contest which Parker shrugged off saying his boys are the best and will continue to retain their title regardless of the competition.
WCW President JJ Dillon joins the interview and says he is glad to hear that his World Tag Team Champions are so confident because new #1 Contenders would be decided in tonight’s main event. But Col. Parker doesn’t like the choices as it will be the Steiners vs. Harlem Heat!!!
Dusty Rhodes, Bob Caudle, and JJ Dillon are in the ring and bring out the man who will be inducted into the WCW Hall of Fame next week on Nitro. They play a career retrospective video before bringing out CHIEF WAHOO MCDANIEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott Norton defeats Ray Lloyd after a brutal Double Power Bomb
Mr. Wonderful defeats Jim Powers after planting him with a Piledriver
Meng and Barbarian defeated The Christmas Creatures after the Kick of Fear was followed up with the Tongan Spike
Hugh Morrus defeated Marcus Bagwell in a hotly contested match up after connecting with the No Laughing Matter moonsault.
The main event to determine the new #1 Contender for the WCW World Tag Team Championship was declared a no contest. After an amazing tag team contest between the Steiners and Harlem Heat, Bobby Eaton and Ricky Martel ran into the ring with a foreign object each and beat the living hell out of the groggy competitors. Col. Parker, Eaton, and Martel were standing tall and Terry Taylor was singing the praises of how ingenious Col. Parker is as Nitro went off the air……

Tony Schiavone, Terry Taylor, and "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes on commentary
Tonight is a very special night for WCW. The legendary Wahoo McDaniel will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. World Champion Curt Hennig will be here to address the challenge of IWGP Champion Keiji Mutoh. Prez JJ Dillon will be here to address the tag team title situation and Television Champion Big Bubba Rogers makes his first defense of the title.
Bob Caudle is standing by with International Tag Team Champions the Steiner Brothers who are not happy. Since Scottie returned from injury they have been on an unfulfilled mission to reclaim the World Tag Team Championship. And on this mission they have run in to a couple of “great wrestlers” who have done anything they could to avoid wrestling and hold on to their titles, and a couple of “thugs.” Scotty gives credit where it is due and says that Harlem Heat and the Super Models are both good tag teams, but the Steiner Brothers are better, and they know it. That is why they have gotten matches thrown out, or run in, nobody wants the Steiners to be World Tag Team Champs because they know they can’t be beat fairly. But the Grandaddy of them all, Starrcade is right around the corner, and on the biggest stages is where the brightest stars shine, and it will be the Steiners regaining their titles. Scotty asks for one more match with Harlem Heat to prove they are the better team, no Colonel Parker or Super Models interference. They are willing to put the International Titles on the line if Harlem Heat has the guts!
Meng and Barbarian defeated Bunkhouse Buck and “Mean” Mike Enos after Barbarian nailed the Kick of Fear and Meng followed up with the Tongan Spike on Enos.
After the bout DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE hoped the rail, slid in under bottom rope, BAAAAAAANG! DIAMOND CUTTER on Barbarian, he pops right up, BAAAAANG! DIAMOND CUTTER ON MENG! DDP flashes the diamond; he grabs the house mic, “SULLLLIVAN!! Nobody from the dungeon of doom is safe! I want Kimberly back, and I want her back YESTERDAY!” DDP looks under the ring, and has HIS DENTED UP FOLIDNG CHAIR!!! But before he can use it, Barbarian delivers the kick of fear to Page while he is standing on the apron. He and Meng deliver more of a beating to DDP, and then drag him away.
Heavyweight Champion of the World, Curt Hennig is with Bob Caudle and says that it was great to go home to Minnesota for a week after winning the toughest battle of his entire career. Ric Flair is the greatest Champion in the history of Professional Wrestling, and he gave the Champ the toughest fight of his entire life. It truly was one of the proudest moments of Curt’s entire career to win that Cage Match. And as the song remains the same, there is no rest for the weary.
Before Hennig could wash the blood from his hair, one of the toughest athletes to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots, Keiji Mutoh, issued a challenge to him. Curt told JJ before he left Joe Louis Arena the night of Halloween Havoc that he wanted that match. JJ told him to take a couple weeks, go home, heal up a bit and think about it. Well Curt has thought about it, and this is exactly what he signed up for. He knew that becoming the World Heavyweight Champion would mean stepping into the squared circle with the best athletes in the entire world and that is exactly why Curt wanted to be Champ so badly.
Minnesota skies did not change that. “So yes Mutoh, I ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE, and will meet you anywhere, anytime.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa there pally.” United States Champion, Roddy Piper comes out and says that just maybe the Nature Boy rattled a few screws loose, or maybe “Curty wurty is jus scared,” but Roddy Piper has been waiting in the wings long enough, and that being the US Champ makes him the #1 Contender. “Wearing that strap don’t mean you pick your opponents pally.” Piper says that Hennig has been ducking him since day one and this is a gross miscarriage….
HERE COMES STING AND THERE GOES PIPER!!!!!
“OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW” Sting says that Piper can want Curt Hennig all he wants, but he won’t have a wrestling match with anyone until he “FIGHTS THE STINGER!” Sting says that Roddy Piper is the biggest snake in the grass he has ever seen. He couldn’t come to WCW like a man and step on toes, punch people in the face, and get his title match. No no no, he came to WCW and expected the red carpet Hollywood treatment, he played politics and mind games, and he picked the wrong opponent! Because the Stinger is a “great white shark!” And he will chew Roddy Piper up and spit him out!
Big Bubba Rogers made his first title defense defeating Marcus Alexander Bagwell in a hard fought contest.
One half of the World Tag Team Champions Rick Martel w/Col. Parker and “Beautiful” Bobby defeated Johnny B. Badd in another highly contested match-up. Badd seemed to have the contest won after landing the “Kiss that don’t Miss” left-hook, but Col. Parker distracted the official in order for Eaton to nail Badd with his title belt.
Scott Norton defeated Lenny “the Express” Lane after his double Power Bomb. After the bout Norton grabbed the house mic and simply said that the “Disrespect will cease!”
It was now time for Wahoo McDaniel to be inducted to the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Dusty was there in a suit, Magnum T.A. was there as well. Wahoo came down had a blazer on, carrying a beautiful Traditional Indian Headress. Wahoo talked about the Headress being a family heirloom, it was worn by his Great Grandfather who was a high chief, and also by his Grandfather who told him as a little boy that he would become anything he wanted to be. And after a life in the NFL, Wahoo found his true calling inside the squared circle. He couldn’t be more proud of the trail he blazed, the matches and titles he’s won, or the accolades he’s received…
And here comes World Television Champion Big Bubba Rogers! Bubba says that if there is one thing he hates in life, that is seeing “old-timers” not knowing when their time has passed them by. What is this old man doing out here taking up The Champion of Television’s precious Television time? At Halloween Havoc Bubba put “one legend” out to pasture, and what is stopping him from doing it again?
Wahoo, who was never one to be disrespected, immediately chopped Bubba right between the eyes! But the massive World Television Champion gets the better of the fight, and is merciless beating on McDaniel. Dusty and Magnum try to break it up, but get shoved to the side by Bubba. Rogers kicks Wahoo and busts him open, and laughs in his face! Dusty charges at Bubba with the Bionic Elbow cocked, but Bubba ducks out just in the nick of time,
taking Wahoo’s prized Head-dress with him! O NO! Bubba is destroying that priceless heirloom and laughing about it!
In the Main Event Sting defeated Stevie Ray with the Scorpion Death Lock.
11/12/95 from Independence Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina
Tony Schiavone, Terry Taylor, and "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes on commentary
They open the broadcast discussing the absolutely heinous actions of TV Champion Big Bubba Rogers last week attacking Chief Wahoo McDaniel and destroying his priceless Tribal Head-Dress that was 4 generations old! Dusty says that he tried to talk his old friend out of it, but there was no stopping Wahoo from DEMANDING a match here tonight against the audacious champion.
President JJ Dillon is on hand to address the Curt Hennig/Keiji Mutoh/Roddy Piper situation as well as the World Tag Team Titles. Not to mention disturbing video of what happened to Diamond Dallas Page after he attacked the Faces of Fear last week. Taylor says that Page called this upon himself. Tony says that no man deserves what the Dungeon of Doom has put Dallas Page through in the past several weeks.
Tony says that former US Champion Scott Norton has demanded an interview that he will get, and Tony is glad Bob Caudle drew that assignment. And in tonight’s HUGE MAIN EVENT Sting teams with The Steiner Brothers to meet Col. Parker’s Stud Stable, The World Tag Team Champions Rick Martel and “Beautiful” Bobby as well as their newest member, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine!
Kendal Windham, Chris Youngblood, and Marcus Bagwell defeated Blacktop Bully, Mike Enos, and Bunkhouse Buck after Youngblood finished Buck with the Trail of Tears, a STO takedown transitioned to a pinfall attempt.
Harlem Heat defeated Brad and Steve Armstrong by pinfall after Booker T. connected with the Harlem Hangover top rope flipping leg drop onto Steve.
Johnny B. Badd defeated Jerry Flynn by KO after landing the Kiss that don’t Miss left-hook.
Hugh Morrus w/Kevin Sullivan defeated Ray Lloyd by pinfall after the beautiful No Laughing Matter top rope moonsault.
This was Sullivan’s first appearance in person since he ran off with The Diamond Doll, Kimberly. After the contest he grabbed the house mic and introduced a video of the beating that Meng and Barbarian laid on Diamond Dallas Page last week. This was the second brutal beating administered to DDP in the last two weeks; as a result he is at home recuperating. Sullivan wants to assure Page that Kimberly is being well taken care of, he does so with a devious smile. Sullivan also wants “the Plight of Page” to be a warning to every man in wrestling, “women have no place in the rassluhn bizness! A woman was the downfall of Page, who had a promising future, and she will be the downfall of man as well.”
Bob Caudle had an interview with Scott Norton, he pointed out how Scott had DEMANDED the time this week. Scott says he is a man of few words, and he is most definitely not a whiner. What he is, is an ass kicker and that is why he got into professional wrestling, because he was good at kicking ass, and here he could get paid for it. And he doesn’t get paid well kicking Lenny Lane’s ass. Scott Norton says he is a former United States Champion, and that after having the feud of his life, and going through hell inside Wargames he took a few weeks off. Well earned weeks off. And since he came back at Halloween Havoc he has been over looked, forgotten like yesterday’s garbage. Scott Norton will not be over looked. Scott says that he took a look at the Top 10 contenders for the World Heavyweight Title, and that he was ranked #8, that is unacceptable. That is also bad news for #7, and Johnny B. Badd, sorry bout your damn luck.
WCW President JJ Dillon came out to discuss a little WCW business. But before that he wanted to say on a personal note that he hopes Chief Wahoo McDaniel knows what he is doing, and he also hopes that “Wahoo leaves an impression on Mr. Rogers.”
First order of business is the World Tag Team Championship. JJ says that he cannot remember the last World Tag title match that ended decisively, or without controversy, he simply can’t. And that is unacceptable, for both the Championship Committee and more importantly unacceptable to the WCW fan. WCW has the toughest tag teams in the entire world under employment, and these men are paid well to produce the best tag team matches in the world. That is why at the biggest PPV of the year, Starrcade, the World Tag Team Champions, Rick Martel and Beautiful Bobby will meet International Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers AND former World Tag Team Champions Harlem Heat in a TRIANGLE ELIMINATION MATCH. When a man is pinned, or he submits his team is eliminated. The last team standing will take home the World and International Tag Team Titles. Anyman who interferes in that match will face SIGNIFICANT fines and possible suspension. No count-outs, no disqualifications, “and gentlemen there will be no excuses.”
Regarding the World Heavyweight Championship, Roddy Piper is right about one thing, and that is the Champion does not have the power to name opponents. But that does not mean that the Champ’s opinions on the matter will not be taken under advisement. With “the granddaddy of em all, Starrcade” around the corner, the Championship Committee will provide wrestling fans with the best possible Main Event in all of professional wrestling. A Champion vs. Champion Main Event, is just what an event like Starrcade requires. The WCW Committee will take Mr. Mutoh’s, Mr. Piper’s, and Mr. Hennig’s opinions under advisement, and will provide an adequate solution in the very near future.
It what can best be described as a fist fight, living legend, and Hall of Famer, Chief Wahoo McDaniel took on World TV Champion and punk Big Bubba Rogers. The adrenaline was really pumping through the veins of the Oklahoma legend, the Chief really took it to Rogers with chops, elbows, kicks, eye-gouges, nose tuggin’, and hair pullin’. But the adrenaline dump, and sheer force of nature that is Rogers, McDaniel succumbed to Father Time, and was administered a stern beating. Bubba refused to pin McDaniel, and demanded that the “old man quit!” Rogers beat, and beat, and beat on McDaniel, getting more violent each time Wahoo refused to quit. Finally referee Mark Curtis called for the bell, and tried to pull Rogers off, but was thrown out of the way.
Chris Youngblood came funning from the back and really took it to Bubba, he had the advantage in the fight, but once he was pulled off by Security Rogers slipped out of the ring. Youngblood went and checked on his fallen hero, while a seemingly satisfied World Television Champion exited up the ramp.
In the main event The Stud Stable, World Tag Team Champions Rick Martel and Beautiful Bobby along with newest member Greg “the Hammer” Valentine defeated Sting and The Steiner Brothers when Eaton pinned Rick after connecting with the Glam Jam top rope leg drop. This was a fantastic 6 man match that was evenly contested throughout. Valentine proving his mettle hanging with the franchise players of WCW. The bout brokedown and saw Martel and Eaton have a momentary 2 on 1 advantage over legal man Rick Steiner, which is all the World Champions needed to secure a hard fought victory.
Peace
Jeff
