WCW Saturday Night Intro [HD]


- TONY SCHIAVONE and TERRY TAYLOR open the show at ringside and welcome the fans to another edition of WCW Saturday Night, from the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, GA.

TONY and TERRY talk about last Sunday night’s WORLD WAR 3 Pay-Per-View event, and run down some of what took place.


We see still photos from several of the matches that took place at World War 3, including the Great Sasuke winning the eight title Super J Crown from Super Delfin, Hugh Morrus attacking Sting during the Sting/Curt Hennig – Ric Flair/Chris Benoit tag team match, Scott Norton getting disqualified against Lex Luger, and Curt Hennig winning the 60 man, 3-ring Battle Royal for the vacant World Heavyweight Title.


- TONY then runs down the matches that will take place on tonight’s card, including the main event, as Sting has issued a challenge to Hugh Morrus, they’ll go one on one right here on this program!

- TONY and TERRY interview LEX LUGER at ringside.  Lex talks about winning the match at World War 3, but not the title.  Luger issues a challenge to Norton for a STEEL CAGE MATCH at the Great American Bash on August 15!


- LEX LUGER beats MICHAEL WALLSTREET via submission with the Torture Rack.


It’s time for the GREAT AMERICAN BASH REPORT.


- DUSTY RHODES hosts the GREAT AMERICAN BASH REPORT segment.  Dusty talks about the show, which will air live on TBS on Wednesday, August 15 from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN.  Matches scheduled so far include . . .

* WCW World Champion Curt Hennig defending the title against Ric Flair in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls match!

* US Champion Scott Norton will defend the title against the Total Package, Lex Luger inside a Steel Cage!

* Sting squares off with Hugh Morrus!

* Mike Awesome will be in action!

And much, much more!





- “BEAUTIFUL” BOBBY EATON & RICK “THE MODEL” MARTEL (w/ Col. Rob Parker) defeat THE BOOGIE KNIGHTS when Bobby Eaton pins Alex Wright following the Alabama Jam.


- TONY and TERRY interview COL. ROB PARKER, BOBBY EATON & RICK MARTEL at ringside.  Parker talks about this new team, referring to them as “the Super Models”.

- CLIP: Eaton and Martel in Milan, picking out the finest clothes in an expensive shop.

PARKER says that Beautiful Bobby and Rick the Model are the two best looking wrestlers in the World today, not to mention the best looking men in Georgia, period.  The fans don’t like that, and they let Parker know it.  Parker ignores them, and says that the sky is the limit for this team.

SCHIAVONE talks about an incident that took place earlier in the week.

- CLIP: SCOTT STEINER is working out in a local Atlanta gym, when he’s attacked by Eaton and Martel.  They pummel Scott, and while Eaton holds Scott down, Martel hits him repeatedly in the ribs with a large dumbell.  Martel and Eaton then take off, as gym employees call 911.

PARKER laughs about what we just saw, and says that he told everyone at World War 3 that they would be the next World Tag Team Champions, and it looks like they’ve got the Steiners attention now!

Suddenly, RICK STEINER rushes down to ringside and tears into Eaton and Martel while Parker gets out of harm’s way.  Steiner hits both men with wild rights and lefts, but the Super Models quickly overpower him, and they ram Rick’s head into the steel ringpost, knocking him senseless.  Martel and Eaton then put the boots to Rick, who’s out of it on the floor, but security come out and pull them away before helping Rick up.

Before leaving, Parker tells Rick that they’ll see him and Scott at the Great American Bash, that’s if the Steiners have the guts to face them!

- TONY says that it’s time for another installment of WCW Classics, this week we’ll see Lex Luger, who was US Champ at the time, face Mean Mark Callous at the 1990 Great American Bash.

- DUSTY RHODES and KEVIN KELLY interview MIKE AWESOME backstage.  Awesome talks about being the last one eliminated at World War 3, and says that Hennig got lucky, that’s all it was, as everybody saw, he had Hennig right where he wanted him.  Hennig was lucky enough to get caught in the ropes after they both fell over the top, and that’s why Hennig is running around with his belt!

AWESOME doubts that Hennig will give him a rematch any time soon, but he’s not going anywhere, he’s going to bide his time, and he’ll destroy everyone in his path, until Hennig and WCW have no choice but to give him a shot at the belt.


- STING battles HUGH MORRUS to a Double Count-Out.  The match is a wild one, as they brawl in the ring, and eventually make their way to the floor, and even into the first few rows of seats.  Referee Nick Patrick counts both men out, but they don’t care, they continue to brawl, with Morrus getting the upper hand after hitting Sting with a DDT on the unforgiving cement floor.  Morrus laughs maniacally as Sting lays motionless on the floor.


- TONY and TERRY talk about RODDY PIPER showing up last week on WCW Saturday Night, and say that Piper’s Pit returns right now, with new WCW World Champion as the guest!


- PIPER’S PIT, hosted by Rowdy Roddy Piper.

PIPER introduces his guest this week, a man who shocked the World last Sunday night, by outlasting 59 of the top wrestlers in the World, not including himself of course, and walked away with the biggest prize in wrestling, the WCW World Heavyweight Title . . . CURT HENNIG.

HENNIG walks out in a suit, the WCW Title belt over his shoulder.

The two men shake hands.

PIPER says that the two of them have some history from way back, but he wants to congratulate Hennig on winning the title.  Hennig shakes his hand again.

HENNIG then talks about winning the Battle Royal, and becoming World’s Heavyweight Champion.  He says that his entire career has led to this point, winning the only title that means anything in wrestling today.

PIPER says that he knows what Hennig means, that belt is the one thing that has eluded Piper his entire career, and he can’t help but think that if he was in that Battle Royal, things might have turned out differently.

There’s tension between them after that comment, and Hennig asks Piper why exactly he came to WCW, he says that Piper left a cushy job as a commentator to come to WCW.

PIPER says that if Hennig must know, there’s one reason why he came to WCW . . . and Hennig’s got it hanging over his shoulder!

The two men stand nose to nose, and stare each other down as the show comes to an end.


- TONY and TERRY quickly wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.

- TONY SCHIAVONE and TERRY TAYLOR open the show at ringside and welcome the fans to another edition of WCW Saturday Night, from the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, GA.

TONY talks about THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH coming up this Wednesday, from Knoxville, TN, live on TBS.  We’ll have the full line-up later on in the program.

TERRY recaps the debut of PIPER’S PIT on last week’s show, and talks about the tension between Piper and new WCW World Champion Curt Hennig.


We see footage of the final moments of last week’s show, where Roddy Piper talked with Curt Hennig on the debut of Piper’s Pit, where Piper made his intentions clear.


TONY runs down the matches that we’ll see on tonight’s show, and sends us to the ring for the opening bout.


- WCW Tag Team Champion RICK STEINER pins THE MASKED OUTLAW with a Belly to Belly Suplex from the top turnbuckle.


- SCHIAVONE and TAYLOR interview RICK and SCOTT STEINER at rinside after the match.  Scott’s ribs are heavily taped.  Tony talks about the footage that we saw last week.

- CLIP: SCOTT STEINER is working out in a local Atlanta gym, when he’s attacked by Eaton and Martel.  They pummel Scott, and while Eaton holds Scott down, Martel hits him repeatedly in the ribs with a large dumbell.  Martel and Eaton then take off, as gym employees call 911.

SCOTT says that his ribs are hurting, but that isn’t going to stop him from climbing into the ring, along with his brother, at the Great American Bash on Wednesday night, and kicking Eaton and Martel’s asses!

RICK agrees, and says that Eaton and Martel think that they’re real pretty, but they sure won’t be after he and Scott get done with ‘em at the Great American Bash!

TONY then sends us to KEVIN KELLY, who’s standing by in the backstage area with STING.

- KEVIN KELLY interviews STING backstage.  Sting talks about the match with Hugh Morrus last week, where Morrus hit him with a DDT on the floor. Sting says that he wants to beat Morrus at his own game, and asks that Executive VP Bill Watts make his match with Morrus at the Bash a FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH!  Sting says that he’ll beat Morrus at his own game, and then he’s going to take care of Ric Flair and Chris Benoit.


- DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (w/ the Diamond Doll) pins THE BARBARIAN with the Diamond Cutter.


- VIDEO: We see footage of SATOSHI KOJIMA and YUJI NAGATA wrestling in Japan.  Kojima destroys several opponents with Lariats, while Nagata stretches his opponents.

TONY says that Kojima and Nagata exploded onto the Japanese wrestling scene within a couple of years of each other, both are early in their careers, but have already put together impressive win-loss records.  Tony says that Bill Watts has signed them to challenge Demolition for the International Tag Titles at the Great American Bash in what could be the toughest match that Demolition have ever wrestled.

- THE SUPER MODELS (w/ Col. Rob Parker) defeat CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & ACE DARLING when Eaton pinned Darling with the Alabama Jam.  Daniels and Darling gave a good showing, getting plenty of offence in and giving Parker’s men some anxious moments.


- TONY and TERRY send us to Roddy Piper, for another edition of Piper’s Pit.


- PIPER’S PIT, hosted by Rowdy Roddy Piper.

RODDY introduces his guest this week, the man who will challenge Curt Hennig for the World Title at the Great American Bash, the Nature Boy, RIC FLAIR!

FLAIR comes out, but refuses to shake Piper’s hand, instead running his hand through his hair, and letting out a loud WOOOO!

PIPER just smiles, and says that Flair has his work cut out for him on Wednesday night at the Bash.  Flair says that he’ll beat Hennig and win the belt, but Piper reminds him what happened the last few times they’ve met in the ring, Hennig has walked away victorious each time!

FLAIR says that he saw Hennig out here last week, he knows that Piper wants the belt, and says that he thinks Piper wants Hennig to retain the belt at the Bash, because he knows he’d have an easier time beating Hennig than he would beating the Nature Boy.

There’s a tense moment as the two stare at each other, but Piper backs away and just chuckles to himself, and tells Flair that he’s going to be World Champion, and it makes no difference to him whether he takes the belt from Hennig or from Flair.


- TONY and TERRY tell us it’s time for another edition of WCW Classics.  Last week we saw Lex Luger defend the US title against the future Undertaker at the 1990 Great American Bash.  This week, we stay in 1990, as the Steiner Brothers face the Nasty Boys for the US Tag Titles at Halloween Havoc ’90.

- TONY and TERRY interview WCW World Champion CURT HENNIG at ringside.  Hennig talks about the match coming up with Ric Flair at the Bash on TBS, as well as the comments made last week by Roddy Piper.  Hennig says that he’ll take care of Flair this Wednesday night, then he’ll shut Piper up!


- TONY and TERRY wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.  Tony reminds everyone to tune in this Wednesday night on TBS for the Great American Bash!

TONY: “Fans, welcome to Knoxville, Tennessee, we’re glad you could join us for the return of the GREAT AMERICAN BASH here on TBS!  We’ve got a great show lined up tonight.  We’re going to kick things off with one of the hottest country stars around right now, TOBY KEITH, singing “America the Beautiful”.”


TOBY KEITH performs America the Beautiful to open the show.  As he ends the song, red, white and blue streamers fall from the rafters.

TONY SCHIAVONE interviews TOBY KEITH at ringside after he’s done singing.  Toby says he’s been a wrestling fan for years, and it’s an honour to be able to perform on a WCW show, in front of these great fans.


WCW INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
DEMOLITION (Champs) vs. THE ORIENT EXPRESS (Yuji Nagata & Satoshi Kojima)
The smaller challengers use a hit-and-run strategy to start, and it works well for them, as they control the early going, but Demolition fight back and cut the youngster Nagata off from his corner.  Smash and Crush work over Nagata, but a low blow on Crush turns the tables.  Nagata tags Kojima in, and the two Japanese challengers double-team Crush.  Crush is able to fight his way back to his corner, and makes the tag.  Smash cleans house, sending both challengers to the floor. Nagata comes back in, and gets double-teamed by Smash and Crush.  They set him up for the Demolition Decapitation, but Kojima climbs up onto the ring apron from the floor, and shoves Smash off the top rope.  Crush throws Nagata aside and pulls Kojima into the ring, but just as he does, the bell rings.  The 10-minute time limit has expired, and the match is declared a DRAW.


TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about the match we just saw, and Tony says that he’s looking forward to a rematch between the two teams.


DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (w/ the Diamond Doll) vs. THE MASKED OUTLAW
Page goes on the offensive as soon as the bell rings, and makes short work of the masked man, putting him away with the Diamond Cutter.


After the match, TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about a newcomer to World Championship Wrestling, a former amateur standout, and US Marine, Sgt. Craig “Pitbull” Pittman.


We see footage of Pittman in an amateur match while in the Marine Corps.  He makes short work of a bigger opponent.  From there, we see Pittman training in various martial arts.  The video then cuts to footage of Pittman running a team of Marines through a training exercise at Parris Island in South Carolina, barking orders at them.  It ends with Pittman addressing the camera, saying that he’ll be at the Great American Bash to face Mike Awesome.  He says that Awesome may be big, but he believes in the old saying, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.


TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about the footage we just saw.  Tony says that the fans here in WCW have their very own real-life G.I. Joe, a man that has dedicated his life to keeping America safe.

Prior to the start of the match, PITTMAN is led to the ring by a small Marines marching band.


SGT. CRAIG “PITBULL” PITTMAN vs. MIKE AWESOME
Awesome tries to overpower Pittman to start, using his size to his advantage, but Pittman shocks Awesome by fighting back.  Pittman incorporates some of his martial arts into the match, and takes control of the bout.  The match moves to the floor, and Awesome turns the tables, raking Pittman’s eyes, then slamming his head into the ringpost and even slamming Pittman on the floor.

They move back into the ring, but Pittman is dazed from the attack on the floor, and Awesome hits him with the Awesome Bomb!  Awesome isn’t finished, though, he goes to the top rope and hits a Splash for good measure.  Awesome covers his opponent, and gets the 1, 2, 3.

As Pittman is leaving the ring, he notices someone by the entranceway, a man in fatigues, but wearing a black mask.


TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about the match, and say that, even though he lost, Pittman was very impressive.  Dusty wonders who the masked guy watching from the ramp was.

TONY then talks about the Steiner brothers, and Col. Parker’s new team, who he refers to as the Super Models, Rick “the Model” and “Beautiful” Bobby.


The footage that first aired a few weeks ago on WCW Saturday Night is shown again, where Scott Steiner was jumped by the Super Models while working out at a local gym.  They battered Scott’s ribs, causing Scott to have them heavily taped on Saturday Night.


DUSTY says that Scott is wrestling against doctor’s orders tonight.


WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
RICK & SCOTT STEINER (Champs) vs. RICK MARTEL & BOBBY EATON (w/ Col. Rob Parker)
The Steiners dominate the early going, suplexing their opponents around the ring like rag dolls.  Scott’s ribs are still heavily taped, and it’s obvious that they’re bothering him, as Rick wrestles most of the match.

Late in the match, the fight moves to the floor, where Scott gets the upper hand on Martel after slamming his head into the ring the steel guardrail around ringside.  Scott is the first one back into the ring, and as Martel climbs up on the ring apron, Scott hits him with some stiff forearms to the jaw.  From there, Scott hooks Martel, and sets him up to suplex him from the apron back into the ring.

As Scott gets Martel up, Col. Parker hands a chair to Bobby Eaton, who comes over and drives the edge of the chair right into Scott’s injured ribs.

Scott falls to the mat, with Martel landing on top of him.  Rick goes after Eaton and Parker on the floor, and doesn’t notice that Martel has Scott in a pinning predicament.

Referee Nick Patrick gets into position, and starts the count.  Scott can’t kick out, and Martel gets the pinfall!

We’ve got new WCW World Tag Team Champions.


Col. Parker celebrates with his team while Rick checks on his brothers.  Nick Patrick checks on Scott as well, and he and Rick end up having to help Scott from the ring.

TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about the matches that have taken place so far, and then hype the three main matches coming up, Sting facing Hugh Morrus in a Falls Count Anywhere match, Curt Hennig defending the World Title against Ric Flair in a 2 out of 3 Falls match, and Lex Luger facing US Champ Scott Norton inside a Steel Cage!

We see footage of Lex Luger training for his Cage match with Norton.  Then footage of Luger talking with a group of fans, saying that he’s going to beat Norton so that the American people have a United States Champion that they can be proud of.


KEVIN KELLY is standing by backstage with STING.  Kelly talks about the match coming up next with Morrus.  Sting says that they could end up right back here during the match, they could end up in the crowd, they could end up down the street, he really doesn’t know, but the one thing that he does know is that he’s not going to let Flair win, he knows it was Ric who paid Sullivan and Morrus to try to eliminate him, but that’s not going to happen.  He’s going to beat Morrus here today, and then he’s going to take care of the Nature Boy, once and for all.


FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH
STING vs. HUGH MORRUS (w/ Kevin Sullivan)
The match starts out in the ring, but they waste no time in moving to the arena floor, where Sting batters Morrus, and slams his head into the ringpost.  A moment later, they brawl down the aisle.  Morrus gets the upper hand after a thumb to the eye, and sets Sting up for what looks to be a Powerbomb on the floor, but Sting counters it by backdropping Morrus instead.  Sting goes for the cover, but only gets 2.

Eventually, they make their way backstage, where they hit each other with everything that’s not nailed down.  Sting gets the upper hand, and busts Morrus open after repeatedly slamming Hugh’s head into the wall.

At that point, Kevin Sullivan, who’s been lurking nearby the whole time, makes his presence felt.  He grabs a garbage can, and bashes Sting over the head with it, knocking the Stinger to the floor.

Morrus recovers, he pulls Sting up off the floor . . . AND DDT’S HIM!!

Hugh Morrus just DDT’d Sting on the cement floor!

Sting is out cold, and Morrus gets the 3-count.  Morrus doesn’t care that the match is over, he starts kicking Sting, with Sullivan joining in, until a group of wrestlers, led by Lex Luger and Curt Hennig, arrive on the scene and chase Morrus and Sullivan off.

Sting is starting to stir, he’s been busted open, his red, white and blue facepaint is now just red.


TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about what we just saw, with Tony saying that it’s not often that we see Sting left laying like that.  He thinks there’s going to be hell to pay for Hugh Morrus!  Terry doesn’t think so, he thinks Sting has finally met his match, and that Hugh Morrus is going to do exactly what he’s been paid to do, and that’s end the career of the Stinger.


BEST 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS
WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
CURT HENNIG (Champ) vs. RIC FLAIR

FALL #1: The two men tear into each other to start the match, both know what’s at stake, and both know how important winning the first fall is.  As the match progresses, Flair takes control, and focuses on the knee of the World Champion.  Hennig turns the tables, as Flair attempts to cinch him up for a suplex, Hennig blocks it, then goes for one of his own, but as he does, Hennig hooks Flair’s leg, and hits Flair with the Fisherman’s Suplex into a bridge!  Flair can’t kick out, and Hennig wins the first fall at 14:43.

FALL #2: Flair was caught by surprise at the end of the first fall, and he doesn’t take it very well.  To start the second fall, Flair attacks Hennig from behind and pummels him.  Flair rolls out of the ring, and grabs Hennig’s leg.  He drags Hennig over to the ringpost, and proceeds to slam Hennig’s knee into the ringpost.  Flair does this several times, then climbs back into the ring.  At the 16-minute mark, Flair locks on the Figure-Four Leglock.  Hennig tries desperately to break the hold, but it’s no use, and he ends up submitting.  We’re tied at one fall apiece heading into the third and deciding fall.

FALL #3: Flair goes back to the knee to start the final fall, looking to put Hennig away quickly and become World’s Champion.  Hennig fights back, but he can barely put any weight on his knee.  Flair turns the tables again, kicking Hennig’s leg out from under him, putting Hennig back on the mat.  Flair works over the knee for a few more minutes, and as we near the 22-minute mark, Flair goes for the Figure-Four again, right in the middle of the ring . . . but Hennig reaches up and grabs Flair by the hair, rolling him up in a small package!!!

The referee is in position, and makes the count . . . ONE . . . TWO . . . . . . THREE!

Curt Hennig comes away with a victory, 2 falls to 1, and retains the World Heavyweight Title!


TONY, TERRY and DUSTY talk about the match we just saw, then they hype the final match of the evening, as Lex Luger faces US Champion Scott Norton in a Steel Cage match.

We see a video package highlighting what led up to the Steel Cage match.  We see Norton and Luger as tag team partners at Bash at the Beach back in June, with Norton showing a vicious streak in that match that we haven’t seen from him in a long time, as he ended up injuring the Giant.  Luger faced Ric Flair in a #1 contenders match that was signed before the World Title was held up.  Norton felt that as the reigning US Champ, he should have been the automatic #1 contender, and feeling like he was being overlooked yet again, he attacked Luger after Lex beat Flair in the match.  We then see footage of the two meeting in the ring at World War 3, with Norton getting disqualified to retain the US title.


STEEL CAGE MATCH FOR THE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
SCOTT NORTON (Champ) vs. LEX LUGER
Norton attacks Luger before the bell sounds, and has the upper hand when the match begins.  Lex spends the first few minutes being pounded into the mat.  Norton repeatedly sends Luger into the Cage, even going so far as to grind Luger’s face into the metal.  It doesn’t take long for Luger to start bleeding, but he won’t stay down, he keeps battling back.  Norton throws everything but the kitchen sink at Lex, but he just can’t put him away.

Late in the match, Norton whips Luger into the corner, then charges at him.  Luger, thinking quickly, uses the turnbuckles to hold himself, and kicks both feet up, catching Norton right in the face.  Norton staggers backwards, and Luger comes out of the corner with a forearm smash that puts Norton flat on his back.  As Norton slowly gets to his feet, but he’s met with another running forearm smash from Luger, putting him back down on the mat.

Luger picks Norton up, and standing near the ropes, he lifts Norton up for a suplex, sending the Champion crashing back-first into the Cage.

From there, Luger pulls Norton up again . . . AND LIFTS HIM UP INTO THE TORTURE RACK!!!

Luger’s got Norton up, and the Champion has no choice but to submit.

LEX LUGER HAS WON, LUGER IS ONCE AGAIN THE UNITED STATES CHAMPION!!!


TONY SCHIAVONE, DUSTY RHODES and TERRY TAYLOR wrap things up as the Cage is lifted and Luger celebrates in the ring with the belt.

- TONY SCHIAVONE and TERRY TAYLOR open the show at ringside and welcome the fans to another edition of WCW Saturday Night, from the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, GA.

TONY talks about THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH that took place this past Wednesday, right here on TBS.

- Still photos are shown of the matches that took place at the Great American Bash, including pics of the Super Models celebrating with the World Tag Team Titles, and Lex Luger leaving the Cage with the US title belt.


- TONY talks about a newcomer to WCW, a former amateur standout and a US Marine, SGT. CRAIG PITTMAN.


- We see footage of Craig Pittman as an amateur wrestler, as well as leading Marine training exercises at Parris Island, and then wrestling against Mike Awesome at the Bash.  The video ends with Pittman noticing a man at the Bash wearing cammo fatigues and a black mask


- SGT. CRAIG PITTMAN beats STEVE BRADLEY via submission with the Code Red.

As Pittman leaves ringside and heads to the back, the man in the cammo and black mask shows up and confronts Pittman.  The two have a brief staredown, with Pittman demanding to know who he is.  Suddenly, the masked man throws a FIREBALL in Pittman’s face!  Pittman hits the floor, holding his face, and the masked man disappears out of sight.


- Back from the commercial break, SCHIAVONE and TAYLOR talk about what we saw before the break, with the masked man throwing a fireball in Pittman’s face.  Tony says that he received word during the break that the burns to Pittman’s face were not serious, and he’s going to be fine, but he was told that Pittman stormed off to find the masked man, saying he wouldn’t leave the Center Stage Theater until he’d found the masked man.

- TONY then talks about the World Tag Team Title match that took place on Wednesday night, where the Super Models targetted the ribs of Scott Steiner, which they injured earlier when they attacked him at the gym.


- Rick & Scott Steiner vs. the Super Models, JIP . . .

From there, Scott hooks Martel, and sets him up to suplex him from the apron back into the ring.

As Scott gets Martel up, Col. Parker hands a chair to Bobby Eaton, who comes over and drives the edge of the chair right into Scott’s injured ribs.

Scott falls to the mat, with Martel landing on top of him.  Rick goes after Eaton and Parker on the floor, and doesn’t notice that Martel has Scott in a pinning predicament.

Referee Nick Patrick gets into position, and starts the count.  Scott can’t kick out, and Martel gets the pinfall!


- RICK STEINER (w/ Scott Steiner) pins SKULLCRUSHER BROWN after a Belly to Belly Superplex.


- TONY and TERRY interview THE STEINER BROTHERS at ringside.  RICK talks about the loss at the Bash, and says that they’ll have the belts back soon.  SCOTT talks about his ribs, and says that he’ll be back to 100% soon, and when he is, the Super Models had better watch out, because he’s coming after them, and he and Rick are going to take their belts back.

- KEVIN KELLY interviews AL SNOW backstage.  Kevin notes that Al has had a lot of success in various promotions all over the World, particularly in Mexico and Japan.  SNOW says that he’s come to WCW because it’s where the big boys are, he wants to be a part of the #1 promotion in the World.  AL then talks about some of the top names and says that he’s going to beat them all.

- TONY and TERRY talk about the great tag teams that are in WCW right now . . . Demolition, the Steiners, the Super Models, the Orient Express, and then Tony says that a new team is on their way to WCW.

- We see a promo from SHERRI MARTEL and HARLEM HEAT.  They refer to Sherri as Sister Sherri during the promo.  Sherri says that Booker T and Stevie Ray have held the Tag Team Titles in every promotion they’ve been in, and now they’re coming to WCW to take the World Tag titles.  They don’t care whether it’s the Super Models holding the belts, or the Steiners or any other team in WCW, it makes no difference to them.  STEVIE RAY says he hopes the Super Models hold on to the belts, he’d love to beat up on those two pretty boy honkies.  Sherri says that whoever holds the belts, Harlem Heat are coming after them!

- TONY talks about Harlem Heat coming to WCW, and says that he thinks they’ll have some great matches with the other teams here.

TONY and TERRY then talk about another new face that has arrived in WCW, who we’ll be seeing in action next, going by the name of Curry Man.  Tony says that there are going to be quite a few new faces showing up in the coming weeks and months.


- CURRY MAN pins TIMOTHY WELL after a Moonsault.

Prior to the match, DISCO INFERNO and ALEX WRIGHT, the Boogie Knights, join Curry Man on the ramp and all three dance to Curry Man’s theme music.


It’s time for the first FALL BRAWL REPORT.




- KEVIN KELLY hosts the FALL BRAWL REPORT segment.  Kevin talks about the show, which will air live on TBS on Sunday, September 16 from the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, IA.  Matches scheduled so far include . . .

* Johnny B. Badd will take on Al Snow!

* Rick & Scott Steiner get a rematch with the Super Models for the World Tag Team Titles!

* The return of War Games: the Match Beyond, featuring 8 of the top wrestlers in WCW in all-out WAR!

- TONY and TERRY talk about the WCW International Tag Team Title match that took place at the Great American Bash, where Demolition put the belts on the line against newcomers the Orient Express, Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata.

We see footage of Demolition and the Orient Express wrestling to a time limit draw at the Great American Bash.

TONY says that the two teams will meet again when WCW NITRO returns on Monday night, September 3.  But up next, Kojima and Demolition Smash go one on one.


- SATOSHI KOJIMA (w/ Yuji Nagata) pins WCW International Tag Team Champion SMASH after Nagata climbed up on the ring apron, and kicked Smash in the back of the head as he ran the ropes.  Smash, dazed, turned his attention to Nagata, allowing Kojima to roll him up for the pinfall.


- JOHNNY B. BADD pins “HOLLYWOOD” JOHN TATUM after connecting with the Kiss That Don’t Miss left hook.

After the match, Badd put the lips sticker on Tatum’s cheek


- TONY and TERRY send us to this week’s edition of PIPER’S PIT.

- ROWDY RODDY PIPER welcomes us to Piper’s Pit!

HOT ROD introduces his guest this week, the brand new WCW United States Champion, the man they call the Total Package, LEX LUGER!

LUGER talks about winning the US title, and puts over Scott Norton as one of the toughest men he’s ever been in the ring with.

SCOTT NORTON makes his way out to the set, with Piper getting in between him and Luger, saying he doesn’t want any trouble out of either of them.

NORTON tells Luger that he got lucky in the Cage match, but his luck is going to run out!  He asks Luger if Lex remembers what Norton did to the Giant, how he ended the career of the man that was supposed to be the “next big thing” in pro wrestling?  Norton says that what he did to the Giant will pale in comparison to what he’s going to do to Luger!

The two have a staredown as Piper tries to calm both of them down as we head to a commercial break.


- WCW Tag Team Champions THE SUPER MODELS (w/ Col. Rob Parker) defeat JOEY MAGGS & LENNY LANE when Martel pins Maggs after locking him the Boston Crab, and Eaton jumped off the top with the Alabama Jam to the back of Maggs’ head.


- TONY and TERRY hype tonight’s main event, as Ric Flair squares off with Diamond Dallas Page.

- We see a promo from “NATURE BOY” RIC FLAIR regarding tonight’s main event against DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE.  Flair says that Page isn’t in his league, and he’ll prove it tonight.

- We then cut to a promo from DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE, along with the Diamond Doll.  Page says Flair may be a legend, but that isn’t going to stop him from hitting Flair with the Diamond Cutter and pinning his shoulders to the mat for the 1, 2, 3!


- BRUTUS BEEFCAKE pins SOULMAN ALEX G after hitting a running kneelift, then hitting the Soul Man with a flying knee to the face.


- KEVIN KELLY interviews WCW World Champion CURT HENNIG and STING backstage.  Sting’s head is bandaged.  Sting talks about the Falls Count Anywhere match with Hugh Morrus at the Great American Bash, and says that Morrus got the better of him, but it took interference from that snake in the grass, Kevin Sullivan.  He says that Morrus didn’t prove anything to him or anybody else at the Bash, and he says that the next time they meet in the ring, things are going to go a little differently.

HENNIG then talks about Roddy Piper, and the comments he made on Piper’s Pit last week, where Ric Flair was his guest.  He says that he shut Flair up on Wednesday at the Bash, and now he’s going to shut Piper up.

STING steps in, saying that he doesn’t like to see this tension between Hennig and Piper.  He tells Curt that, while Piper did make his intentions to win the World Title clear, he’s on their side, he’s got a long history with Ric Flair, just like he and Hennig do, and he hates the Nature Boy just as much as they do.  He says that they need to work together to rid WCW of the likes of Ric Flair and Hugh Morrus.

HENNIG says that what Sting says makes sense, but he still doesn’t trust Piper, and he doesn’t think Sting should either.


- DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (w/ the Diamond Doll) defeats “NATURE BOY” RIC FLAIR (w/ Chris Benoit) by Disqualification.  Late in the contest, Page has the match well in hand, and connects with the Diamond Cutter.  Before Page can cover the Nature Boy, Chris Benoit jumps into the ring and jumps Page from behind.  Referee Nick Patrick calls for the bell, and disqualifies the Nature Boy.

Flair’s still down, but Benoit pummels Page with some heavy forearms.  When Benoit goes for the Dragon Suplex, Page swings his leg back, catching Benoit with a low blow, and then he drops Benoit with the Diamond Cutter!

- TONY and TERRY wrap up the show by talking with Diamond Dallas Page, who says that he doesn’t take kindly to Benoit sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong, and he challenges Benoit to face him in the ring and put that belt of his on the line.

SCHIAVONE: “Hello again wrestling fans, and welcome to another action-packed 2 hours of WCW Saturday Night, from the Center Stage Theater.”

TONY hypes tonight’s show, he’s told that the mysterious masked man that has confronted Sgt. Craig Pittman goes by the name COBRA, and we’ll get our first look at him in action tonight . . . Johnny B. Badd will be here . . . Crush, one-half of the International Tag Team Champs, will be in singles action . . . Meng will meet former amateur standout Bob Backlund . . . Mike Awesome will be here . . . Harlem Heat, along with Sister Sherri, will make their in-ring debut . . . WCW TV Champion Chris Benoit will be in action . . . Diamond Dallas Page will be here . . . and in the feature match, the young duo of Billy Kidman and Ace Darling, who have held Tag Team gold together in several East Coast promotions, will get the opportunity to become World Tag Team Champions when they meet the new Champs, the Super Models!

As well, there will be news on the next big event from World Championship Wrestling, FALL BRAWL, set to take place on September 17 from the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.


- CLIP: the masked man, Cobra, confronting Sgt. Craig Pittman, and throwing a fireball at him.

TONY says that Cobra makes his WCW debut, and sends us up to the ring.

WCW MONDAY NITRO!!!!

Nitro returns in just over a week’s time, on Monday, September 3.  Nitro will be LIVE right here on TBS, from Independence Arena in Charlotte, NC.  Already scheduled for that show, the Great Sasuke faces Al Snow.  As well, Demolition put the International Tag Team Titles on the line in a rematch with the Orient Express.  And, in the main event, Ric Flair goes one on one with Sting!


- JOHNNY B. BADD pins THE GRAPPLER with a Sunset Flip off the top rope.


- TONY and TERRY hype the return of War Games: the Match Beyond, at Fall Brawl.  They’re joined at that time by WCW Executive Vice President BILL WATTS.

WATTS talks about the War Games match, and says that some of the participants have already been decided.  On one side, there will be WCW World Champion Curt Hennig, Sting and WCW US Champion Lex Luger.  On the opposing side, the members added so far will be “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Hugh Morrus, and the man that Luger beat for the US title, Scott Norton.

WATTS says that each team will be able to pick a fourth member, and we’ll find out who they will be, next Monday night on the return of Nitro.

- TONY then talks about the World Tag Team Title match that took place at the Great American Bash.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. the Super Models, JIP . . .

This brings out SISTER SHERRI and HARLEM HEAT – BOOKER T and STEVIE RAY.  Sherri says that everywhere Harlem Heat have gone, they’ve left a trail of broken bodies, they’ve held the Tag Team Titles in every promotion they’ve ever been in.  She feels that alone should be enough to warrant them getting a shot at the titles, and since it looks like Martel and Eaton don’t have any opponents for Fall Brawl, she challenges Col. Parker and the Super Models to put the belts on the line against Booker T and Stevie Ray at Fall Brawl!


Suddenly, COL. ROB PARKER walks out.

PARKER: “Now hold on a second here, little lady.  You can’t just walk into World Championship Wrestling and demand a title shot!  Harlem Heat may be an impressive team, I’ll give you that, but to think that they can come in and walk right into a match with the greatest tag team in the history of this sport?  Well that’s just PREPOSTEROUS!”

BOOKER T and STEVIE RAY move menancingly towards Parker.  Stevie Ray grabs him by the collar.

PARKER: “Now hold on there boy, there’s no need to be puttin’ yer hands on me!”

STEVIE RAY doesn’t take kindly to being referred to as “boy”, and he hauls off and slugs Parker in the mouth!

The Colonel hits the floor, and here come the World Tag Team Champions BOBBY EATON and RICK MARTEL.

Eaton and Martel pounce on Stevie Ray and work him over, but Booker T grabs a chair and the Champs and Parker are quick to back away.

Before they leave, Eaton grabs the mic from Schiavone.

EATON: “You punks want a match at Fall Brawl?  You got it, and you’ll find out first-hand why NOBODY puts their hands on the Colonel!”


TONY and TERRY talk about what just took place.  Tony says that it looks like we’ve got our World Tag Team Title match for Fall Brawl, as Harlem Heat have immediately made waves upon entering WCW, and you heard Bobby Eaton accept the challenge!


- CRUSH (w/ Smash) pins MARK JOHNSON after a diving Lariat from the top rope.


- VIDEO: We see highlights of previous matches between Curt Hennig and Ric Flair, as well as clips of matches back in the late 70s / early 80s between Roddy Piper and Flair.  The video ends with a clip of Curt Hennig as a guest on Piper’s Pit, where Roddy makes his intentions clear . . . he wants to be World Heavyweight Champion!

TONY and TERRY talk about the issues between Hennig, Flair and now Piper.  Tony says that there’s no love lost between any of them, they’ve all had issues in the past, but there’s one thing that’s causing this friction between them . . . the biggest prize in wrestling today, the WCW World Heavyweight Title.  Hennig’s got it, and both Flair and Piper, while they want to destroy each other, they want that belt.


- MENG (w/ Kevin Sullivan) defeats BOB BACKLUND in under 2 minutes after locking Backlund in the Tongan Death Grip.


- TONY and TERRY send us to this week’s edition of PIPER’S PIT.

- ROWDY RODDY PIPER welcomes us to Piper’s Pit!

HOT ROD introduces his guest this week, a man who recently made his return to WCW . . . JOHNNY B. BADD!

Badd comes out and shakes hands with Piper, then plays to the crowd, shooting off the Badd Blaster.

Johnny tells Piper that there’s a new Sheriff in town . . . and he’s a BAAAAAAAAAADDDD man!

Piper asks Johnny what brings him back to WCW.  Badd says that he’s here for the same reason Piper and everyone else are here, WCW is the place to be!  This is where the big boys play, and he can’t wait to get right back in the thick of things!

Johnny says that he’s putting all the Champions here in WCW on notice, he wants Championship gold, and he’s not going to stop until he has some!

After Piper wraps things up, Johnny leaves the ring, and puts a lips sticker on the cheek of a ringside fan.


- MIKE AWESOME pins LENNY LANE in a little over a minute, after dropping Lane with the Awesome Bomb.

Afterwards, Awesome pulls Lane up off the mat, and sends him over the top rope with another Awesome Bomb, all the way to the floor!

After a commercial break, we see Lenny Lane being taken out on a stretcher.


It’s time for the FALL BRAWL REPORT.




- KEVIN KELLY hosts the FALL BRAWL REPORT segment.  Kevin talks about the show, which will air live on TBS on Sunday, September 16 from the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, IA.  Matches scheduled so far include . . .

COL. PARKER came out into the aisleway during the match, to scout the Super Models’ opponents for Fall Brawl, but left just as they were getting their hands raised.


- TONY and TERRY talk about last week’s main event, where Diamond Dallas Page squared off with the Nature Boy Ric Flair.

- WCW TV Champion CHRIS BENOIT pins REX KING with a Dragon Suplex into a bridge for the pin.


- KEVIN KELLY interviews WCW United States Champion LEX LUGER backstage.  Kelly congratulates Luger on the title victory at the Great American Bash, and then talks about Fall Brawl, and the return of War Games, which we now know Luger will be a part of.

LEX says that Norton was a tough opponent, he’ll give the devil his due, but he never had any doubt that he would beat him.  As far as War Games is concerned, it’s an opportunity for him to get his hands on Norton again, as well as Flair and Hugh Morrus, all in one match.

KELLY says that we don’t know who their fourth partner will be, and we don’t know who the fourth member of Ric Flair’s team will be yet either.

LUGER says that it doesn’t matter, he’s already talked with Sting and Hennig about possible choices for their fourth partner, and they aren’t concerned with who Flair gets as the fourth member of his team, because he and his team are going to walk away victorious!


- DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (w/ the Diamond Doll) pins MIKE DAVIS after hitting Davis with the Diamond Cutter.


- KEVIN KELLY hosts an UPCOMING EVENTS segment, where he hypes upcoming shows, including a big show at the Omni in Atlanta coming up on Sunday night, September 2.

- A promo airs, hyping the return of Monday Nitro, on September 3, featuring WCW World Champion Curt Hennig against Bobby Eaton, and Sting vs. Ric Flair!
