WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING presents:
Thomas and Mack Center Las Vegas, Nevada January 2, 1995 Announcers: Tony Schiavone Mike Tenay & Dusty Rhodes Ring Announcer: Bob Artese Interviewer: Lance Russell Referees: Danny Davis, Charles Robinson & Mickey Jay *Tony Schiavone ”The Professor” Mike Tenay and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes welcome us to the very first edition of WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live from Sin City! Tony makes sure to wish everyone a happy new year at the top of the show and mentions that 1995 will the best year yet for WCW. It all starts tonight with the premiere of WCW Monday Nitro, the show that will change the wrestling landscape. There’s no wrestling trashman or fake minotaurs in WCW, just like there’s no Nirvana burn-outs or goofy vampires. WCW is where the big boys play – where we have athletes like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, Sting and the newest addition to WCW, “Big Daddy Cool” Kevin Nash. We have a huge card tonight, featuring a tag team main event pitting Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash against Ric Flair and Chris Benoit. Plus, Tiger Mask makes his return to the US against one of the rising stars in the cruiserweight division, from Mexico it’s Super Crazy. Plus, Rick Martel takes on Meng and in the steel cage, we will see Brian Pillman take on Kevin Sullivan in a match that should end their blood feud once and for all. Plus, a Three Way Dance as The Nasty Boys, Demolition and The Bruise Brothers all face off. Let’s kick things off here with the battle royal to crown the new #1 contender to Stan Hansen’s United States Heavyweight Title. Let’s send it up to Bob Artese to announce the participants… 1) Battle Royal – Winner Receives WCW United States Title Match: The Participants are – WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko, The British Bulldog, Ken Shamrock, Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Hector Garza, Sting, Mr. Aguila, Dave Taylor, Wildfire Tommy Rich: The order of eliminations is as follows: Greg Valentine eliminates Hector Garza with a clothesline over the top at 2:11. Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw then knocks out Greg Valentine with a big boot when he turned around at 2:11. Ken Shamrock eliminates Mr. Aguila by throwing him over and out at 3:45. Ken Shamrock then continues his run by eliminating The British Bulldog at 4:17. The World’s Most Dangerous Man is on fire as he lands a sidekick on Wildfire Tommy Rich that sends Rich out at 5:08. Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw, Hector Garza and Dean Malenko all attack Ken Shamrock from behind and are able to eliminate Shamrock by dumping him out at 6:23. Garza is then immediately hit by a Stinger Splash and dumped out at 6:34. Sting is able to eliminate Dave Taylor with a running lariat at 8:15. Dean Malenko ducks out of the way of a dropkick from Sting, which connects on Bradshaw and eliminates the Big Texan at 9:04. Sting and Malenko battle over the next several minutes, with The Iceman nearly eliminating Stinger on several occasions. However, Dean Malenko misses a big knee drop and wobbles back to his feet, only to get a Scorpion Death Drop from Sting! Stinger then picks Malenko up and press-slams him out to the floor to win the Battle Royal! WINNER: STING (12:49) *Chris Cruise interviews Sting in the aisle after his big win. Sting gives us an “OWWWW” and says that it’s undeniable now – the Stinger is back and he’s got gold on his mind. Sting says Stan Hansen may hold the US Title right now, but that belt has his name written on. As Sting talks, Stan Hansen charges down behind and goes to bash Sting with his cowbell, but Stinger sees it coming! Sting boots Hansen in the gut, takes the cowbell, and bashes Hansen over the head with it! And look at this – Stan Hansen is backing up and heading back to the dressing room! Sting charges after him and decks Hansen a few times, but Stan gets away and runs backstage. Sting then goes back down the aisle and tells Chris Cruise that Stan Hansen might have just realized that he’s in a lot of trouble when he puts the big gold belt on the line against The Stinger real soon here in World Championship Wrestling… **commercial break** *VTR: “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase is standing by in front of a row of lockers with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, WCW World Cruiserweight Dean Malenko and WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit. Dibiase says that the wrestling world was shocked last week when Kevin Nash showed up and it even threw him for a loop, but his champions are more than ready to make Nash’s stay in WCW a very short one. Ric Flair says he knew Shawn Michaels was going to have run to one of his friends to try and save him and that’s exactly what has happened. Flair says unlike Michaels, he only surrounds himself with the very best like the brilliant mind of the Million Dollar Man, the man with the best knowledge of technical wrestling in this sport in Dean Malenko and the true crippler of professional wrestling Chris Benoit. Flair says he’s known for being in the most ruthless and dangerous faction in WCW history… so teaming with men like Malenko and Benoit feels right at home. Chris Benoit chimes into say that he’s going to cripple someone tonight, be it Michaels, Nash or maybe both. Dibiase cackles and Flair shouts “Woooooo” as Chris Benoit stares menacingly into the camera… 2) Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. Silver King: Silver King is a very capable star, but he’s in over his head against Dr. Death. Doc is absolutely brutal as he takes apart Silver King with suplexes and slams. Steve Williams finishes off Silver King with a brutal Oklahoma Stampede power-slam. He puts his foot on Silver King’s chest for the cover for get the easy three count. WINNER: Dr. Death Steve Williams *Chris Cruise is waiting in the aisle for Dr. Death as he drops out of the ring. Cruise congratulates Dr. Death on his win and asks him about his match next week with Rick Martel. Dr. Death glares at Chris Cruise for a few seconds and then walks right by him! Clearly, Doc is not in the mood for a chat tonight! Chris Cruise stalls for time a bit and is then interrupted by Taz and his manager Bill Alfonso. Taz tells Cruise that he heard “the little boy” Lance Storm whining and crying out here last week. Taz can’t quite figure it out, though – why does Lance Storm want to get “choked the f' out” again? Taz will give Lance Storm a match any time he wants one, but next time he’ll break Storm’s neck so he can’t come out here and complain anymore. The Human Suplex Machine also warns WCW Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko that it’s only a matter of time before he takes the gold. Bill Alfonso annoyingly sounds his whistle a few times as he and Taz walk off while Chris Cruise sends us to our next commercial break… **commercial break** *Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash join Chris Cruise for an interview from backstage. Shawn says he heard all the grandstanding from Ric Flair earlier. HBK says Flair is trying to do everything he can to get out of defending the title against him again, but he’s going to make that impossible by pinning the Nature Boy tonight. Nash also sends a message to Chris Benoit and says he saw what The Crippler did to Dave Taylor last week. Big Daddy Cool says he knows how Benoit plays it now and dares him to try something like that tonight. Chris Cruise asks Shawn how he and Nash will be able to counter Ted Dibiase on the outside and the possibility of Dean Malenko making his presence felt. Shawn and Nash exchange smiles and HBK tells Cruise that he thinks they have that under control. Chris Cruise hypes the big tag tam match later on and then sends us up to the ring for our next match… 3) Meng vs Rick Martel: Meng and Martel lock-up and the former Model surprises the Tongan by sweeping his leg out from under him. Once Meng goes down, Rick Martel grabs his right leg and dives into it with a brutal looking knee drop. Meng kicks him away as he tries it again and manages to send Martel to the mat with a chop as The former AWA World Champion charges. Meng then keeps Rick Martel grounded with a head-lock, but Martel reaches the ropes and the Tongan is forced to break the maneuver. Martel tries to go after Meng again, but the Tongan then decks him with a chop. Meng signals for the Tongan Death Grip, but he gets distracted. Martel nails Meng from behind with a running elbow strike and that sends Meng to the canvas. Martel then manages to hoist Meng up and plant him into the canvas with a vertical suplex. Martel then proceeds to work over the neck of Meng for the next several minutes. Meng looks to be in trouble here as Rick Martel reaches and really applies pressure with a side-headlock. Eventually, Meng manages to fight his way back to his feet and lands a series of elbows to Rick’s stomach to break the hold. Meng comes off the ropes, but Martel kicks him the gut and stuns the Tongan. Martel uses this opportunity to hoist the big Meng up and connect with the stomach-breaker. Martel makes the cover and scores the three count to win this big match. WINNER: Rick Martel *VTR: The Nasty Boys are standing in front of their logo and they are hyped up over tonight’s Three Way Dance. Brian Knobbs says he and Sags shouldn’t even have to be in this stupid match because they are the number-one contenders, but it doesn’t matter because they like nothing better than a good fight. Sags says The Nasty Boys are planning to fight dirty tonight because they just don’t like these two other teams. Brian Knobbs promises that the Bruise Brothers and Demolition are all in for a Nasty Sensation tonight! Then, the Legion of Doom get what’s coming to them, if they ever have the guts to show up here in WCW again! Knobbs and Sags both laugh obnoxiously as we go to our next commercial break… **commercial break** *VTR: We see clips of Tiger Mask’s legendary career in Japan in the 1980s. Mike Tenay narrates over the highlights and mentions that Tiger Mask revolutionized the cruiserweight division and set the standard for many of today’s stars. We see Tiger Mask in action against Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart and Black Tiger. Tonight, the legend from Japan makes his return to the ring nearly ten years since he walked away from the sport at the height of his prime. Tenay says this match against Super Crazy could kick-off another reign of dominance for Tiger Mask or prove that he’s been away from professional wrestling too long. We now go to the ring, where Super Crazy comes out first. Next the lights dim and Tiger Mask’s New Japan theme begins playing. Tiger Mask makes his way down to the ring as fireworks go off all around him! What fanfare here! Tiger Mask hits the ring and bows to Super Crazy, before throwing off his gold cape and getting ready for this big match… 4) Tiger Mask vs Super Crazy: Lots of wild moves here as Super Crazy shows off his incredible offensive aerial, while Tiger Mask keeps right up with him in his first (televised) match in ten years. Super Crazy gains the advantage late in the contest and goes up top for the 450 splash. The Mexican star leaps off the top rope, but Tiger Mask gets his knees up just in time. Both men are down, but slowly they get back to their feet. The two men trade some kicks, with Super Crazy gaining the advantage. Super Crazy hits the ropes and goes for the cross-body splash, but Tiger Mask catches him in midair. Tiger Mask shifts the momentum and he connects with the jumping tombstone pile-driver! Tiger Mask makes the cover for the three count! Tiger Mask is victorious in his return to professional wrestling! WINNER: Tiger Mask *As Tiger Mask celebrates in the ring, Mike Tenay mentions that it’s pretty clear that he has not last a step in his time away. Tenay thinks Tiger Mask could be a real threat for current WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko. We then go backstage, where Chris Cruise is standing by with Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan tells Cruise that this is a night that he’s been waiting for because Brian Pillman is going to be trapped. There will nowhere for Pillman to run to – he will be forced to take the beating that he’s earned from Sullivan. Tonight, this whole blood feud comes to a close and it’s going to end fittingly with... a lot of blood. Sullivan promises to show no mercy because Brian Pillman doesn’t deserve any. Chris Cruise warns fans not to change the challenge because they are mere minutes away from what could be one of the most brutal matches in recent memory… **commercial break** *VTR: We take a look back now at the feud between Kevin Sullivan and Brian Pillman, which kicked off a few months ago when Pillman interrupted Sullivan during an interview. The resulting feud led to many brawls on WCW Nitro and a series of increasingly violent matches. The end looked to be near when Pillman defeated Sullivan in the Falls Count Anywhere match at the Clash of the Champions, but Kevin stoked the fires even more by attacking The Loose Cannon after the match. JJ Dillon has expressed hopes that the feud will be settled once and for all tonight inside the confines of a 15-foot high steel cage. We return to the arena where Tenay, Schiavone and Rhodes discuss the feud as we see the cage being lowered down over the ring from the ceiling… 5) Steel Cage Match – Brian Pillman vs. Kevin Sullivan: Brian Pillman is out first and he enters the cage. As Kevin Sullivan steps through the cage door, Brian bum-rushes him and begins smashing Sullivan’s head against the side of the door. Sullivan falls out to the floor, with Pillman following and starts stomping the hell of Kevin Sullivan on the arena floor. Sullivan fights back by tackling Pillman and pounding him with rights and lefts. Sullivan grabs Pillman by the hair and slams him head-first into the cage and then into the ring steps. Now, Sullivan throws Pillman back into the ring, steps in himself and watches as referee Dan Davis padlocks the door. Sullivan then picks up Pillman and slams him into the center of the ring. He goes for a running knee drop, but Brian rolls away just in time and gets back to his feet. As Sullivan stumbles up, Pillman catches him with a picture-perfect dropkick that floors Kevin. Pillman goes to climb the cage to escape, but Sullivan catches him and slams him back down to the canvas. As Sullivan pulls his opponent back up, Pillman connects with a shot to the stomach. Pillman now grabs Sullivan by what little hair he has left and begins grating Sullivan’s face against the cage, drawing some blood from his opponent’s forehead. Brian then pulls Sullivan up for a piledriver, but Kevin slams the top of his head right into Pillman’s junk! That’s gotta hurt, Gene! Sullivan connects with an uppercut and then pulls Pillman into the corner for the Tree of Woe. Since Pillman is all tangled up, Sullivan begins climbing the cage, but Pillman propels himself upwards and then gains his footing on the top rope. He crawls up near Sullivan and they trade rights and lefts as they are hanging on the cage. Sullivan lands a few, but Pillman hooks him AND BACK-SUPLEXES KEVIN OFF THE CAGE AND BACK INTO THE RING!! Both men are down for several moments here, but Pillman is up first and he scales the top rope. As Sullivan slowly stumbles to his feet and he turns around into… AIR PILLMAN!! Sullivan was just wiped out here by Brian Pillman, who then stomps Sullivan’s bloody forehead a few times and walks towards the door. Referee Dan Davis opens the door and Brian Pillman walks out to win this brutal, bloody steel cage match here on WCW Monday Nitro! WINNER: BRIAN PILLMAN *Chris Cruise catches up with Brian Pillman at the top of the ramp, with the exhausted Loose Cannon said the match ended just like it should have. Pillman: “Sullivan, it should be crystal clear to you now. I won, you lost! All is right with the world!” Pillman then shoves Cruise aside and storms off, while the camera pans in on the bloody and battered Sullivan pulling himself back to his feet in the ring. Mike Tenay, Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes play up the brutality of that match and then send us to a VTR of the Three Way Dance. The pre-taped highlight package shows us profiles of The Nasty Boys, The Bruise Brothers and Demolition. All three teams want a shot at the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom, but they have to get through tonight’s match first… **commercial break** *Before the Three Way Dance, Tony Schiavone asks Mike Tenay about a brand new superstar coming to WCW, Miguel Perez Jr. The son of legendary Puerto Rican star Miguel Perez Sr., Miguel Jr. has wracked up many high-profile wins and held the WWC North American Tag Team Titles on four occasions and the Caribbean Heavyweight Title three times. We then see clips of Miguel’s famous victories over the likes of Ron Starr, Carlos Colon, Abdullah The Butcher and former WCW World Tag Team Champion Phil Lafon. Tenay announces that Miguel Perez Jr. will be making his debut on WCW Monday Nitro in two weeks and promises fans that they will not to miss the debut of this international superstar. Dusty Rhodes adds that with all these stars from Mexico, England, Puerto Rico and Japan coming here, you can tell that World Championship Wrestling is on the cutting edge of this sport. Tony Schiavone then sends us up to Bob Artese to announce the big tag team match… 6) Triangle Match: The Nasty Boys vs. The Bruise Brothers vs. Demolition (w/ Ax): This starts off as a wild brawl with all six men fighting in the ring and eventually out onto the floor. Once the referee manages to get things under control, each team gets their run where they dominate. The finish sees another brawl break out in the ring. The Nasty Boys manage to throw Demolition Smash into Demolition Axe, who was standing up on the apron. Jerry Sags turns right around into a big boot to the forehead by Ron (?) Harris! The other Harris twin clotheslines Brian Knobbs, while his brother pins Jerry Sags for the three count to win this match! The Bruise Brothers just defeated the current number-one contenders and the former number-one contenders. The celebration doesn’t last long as The Legion of Doom and Paul Ellering make their first appearance since the Clash and hit the ring. Now all four teams are brawling! Hawk and Animal knock Demolition out to the floor first, while The Bruise Brothers wipe out both Nasty Boys. As the Harris brothers turn around, they get clobbered with clotheslines by Hawk and Animal! Now all three challengers are out on the floor fuming as the Legion of Doom and Paul Ellering pose in the ring. The LOD are back with a vengeance, but they have three teams with legitimate claims for a title match. WINNERS: The Bruise Brothers **commercial break** *Chris Cruise is joined backstage by WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom and their manager Paul Ellering. Ellering tells Cruise that Hawk and Animal do not take being ambushed lying down and they returned the favor tonight on Demolition. As a result, The Bruise Brothers and The Nasty Boys went down as well, which was just an enjoyable side effect. Animal shouts that he and Hawk will take on all-comers – heck, they WANT matches will all three of these teams so they can bash their stinkin' brains in. Hawk says he and Animal are and have always been the two men that snack on danger and dine on death! So the Nasty Boys, the Bruise Brothers and the rip-offs Demolition can all get their title matches and they’ll all end up on the wrong end of the Doomsday Device. Hawk: “Three big fights? OHHHHHHHHHHH What a rush!” Hawk and Animal mug for the cameras while Paul Ellering slaps his newspaper against his right hand. Chris Cruise sends us up to the ring for tonight’s big match event… 7) Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash vs WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair & WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit (w/ The Million Dollar Man): Nash and Michaels get things going by double-teaming Ric Flair and making quick tags. Nash is as impressive as ever in his WCW Nitro debut match and he nearly scores a pin on Ric Flair with the big boot. Chris Benoit eventually tags in and he holds his own with both Michaels and Nash. Benoit gets particularly brutal after landing a running headbutt on Shawn Michaels. The Canadian Crippler stomps the hell out of Shawn, but Nash comes in and nails Benoit with a big forearm. Both men start to crawl to their corners and make the big tags. Flair comes in and lands a chop-block on Kevin Nash’s knee and takes the big man to the canvas. Around this time, Dibiase motions towards the dressing room and out comes “The Iceman” Dean Malenko. It looks like Ted Dibiase has a plan in motion here. Nash and Flair are battling in the ring and eventually Big Daddy Cool is able to make the hot tag to Shawn Michaels. At this very moment, Dean Malenko hops on the apron to distract the referee, while Dibiase goes to slide a foreign object into Ric Flair. There’s another buzz in the crowd now and the camera pans to THIS MAN running down to the ring… . . . . . . . . . . It’s SCOTT HALL!! Ted Dibiase nearly goes nuts as Hall runs down to the ring and yanks Malenko off the apron! Hall lays him out with a big right hand and then motions to Michaels that Flair has a weapon. Flair turns around with the brass knuckles on AND HE GETS A SUPERKICK TO THE MUSH!! Shawn is right on top for the cover and Kevin Nash hits the ring to hold off Chris Benoit. Shawn gets the 1-2-3!! Shawn Michaels has just pinned the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair right in the middle of the ring. WINNER: Shawn Michaels & Kevin Nash *Ted Dibiase is furious on the outside and he immediately calls off Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Chris Cruise then steps into the ring as Scott Halls gives Kevin Nash a high-five and then hugs his old friend Shawn Michaels. Chris Cruise says it’s safe to say that both Kevin Nash and Scott Hall have shocked the wrestling world with the returns here to WCW. Hall gets on the microphone: “Hey Million Dollar Mang… Nature Boy… Crippler… Icemang… you know who I am… and you know why I’m here! All I gotta say to everyone is… SAY HELLO TO THE BAD GUY!!” Hall throws his hand up into the Wolfpack sign, which Nash and Hall then do as well. Shawn Michaels then gets on the microphone and says he and his buddies have shocked the wrestling world – next thing on their minds is the WCW gold. Hall, Nash and Michaels then poses in the ring as a shocked Chris Cruise sends it up to our announces to wrap up tonight’s show… *We now go back to the announce position where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes wrap up what may have been the most memorable program in WCW history. All three are shocked to see Scott Hall here and Dusty mentions that Ted Dibiase may have been out-maneuvered here by the Wolfpack! Tenay quickly plugs next week’s show, which will feature Dr. Death against Rick Martel, Lance Storm taking on Taz and WCW United States Champion Stan Hansen defending against the number-one contender Sting! Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes then wrap up this edition of WCW Monday Nitro and urge us to tune into next week’s show… (c) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING presents:
Alameda County Coliseum Oakland, California January 9, 1995 Announcers: Tony Schiavone Mike Tenay & Dusty Rhodes Ring Announcer: Bob Artese Interviewer: Lance Russell Referees: Danny Davis, Charles Robinson & Mickey Jay *Tony Schiavone ”The Professor” Mike Tenay and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live from Oakland. On tonight’s show, we will have WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Stan Hansen defending his gold against Sting. Plus, The Legion of Doom defend their gold against Demolition and Lance Storm takes on Taz. We’ll also have WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit defending his gold and Rick Martel taking on newcomer Craig “Pittbull” Pittman. The Million Dollar Man is here as his three men prepare to take on Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels right here next week on WCW Nitro. And, WCW President JJ Dillon will be here as well with a major announcement about the WCW Women’s Championship and he has promised that a major women’s wrestling star will be in attendance tonight. Tony Schiavone then throws it to Mike Tenay, who previews the opening cruiserweight trios match, featuring several new talents including Sho Funaki from Japan and Rey Mysterio Jr. Tenay hypes Rey as one of the most thrilling athletes in the world. Schiavone then throws us up to the ring for our very first match…
1) Trios Match: Blitzkrieg, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Super Calo vs. Sho Funaki, Super Crazy & WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko (w/ Ted Dibiase): This is an incredible opener that you can really only see here in WCW as the best cruiserweights from Mexico, Japan and here in the US are all represented. Rey Mysterio is the star of the match in his WCW debut as he flies off the top rope with incredible dropkicks and splashes. The downfall for his team comes when the rookie Blitzkrieg tags in and comes flying off the top with a twisting match, but Dean Malenko catches him in midair. Malenko drives Blitzkrieg down with a backbreaker and then pulls the masked man into the center of the ring. The Iceman then applies the Texas Cloverleaf and there’s simply nowhere for Blitzkrieg to go – he taps out! However, Malenko refuses to release the hold after the bell and even wrenches back on the hold further. Rey Mysterio Jr. has seen enough so he takes to the top rope. He comes flying off with a dropkick that drills Dean Malenko right on the chin. The Iceman rolls out to the floor and stomps around with Ted Dibiase as Rey Mysterio Jr. dares him to get back into the ring. WINNERS: DEAN MALENKO, SUPER CRAZY & SHO FUNAKI
*Lance Russell steps into the ring to interview Rey Mysterio Jr. Lance tells Rey that he and all these fans were clearly impressed by him. Mysterio thanks Lance for the kind words and says it’s great to be here in World Championship Wrestling. The masked man wishes he would have come away with a win in his first match, but he believes he can get that big win if he’s granted a match against Dean Malenko for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship. Rey says he has all the respect in the world for Malenko’s in-ring ability, but he doesn’t believe Dean needs to use all the questionable tactics to keep his gold. Mysterio wants to work his way into contention for the gold here in WCW and makes a challenge to all comers to take him on. Rey Mysterio Jr. then poses on the turnbuckle as Lance Russell sends us to our first commercial break…
**commercial break**
*As we return from commercial, Lance Russell is standing by backstage with Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Shawn tells Lance that he cannot wait to get in the ring with Ric Flair and his cronies next week to show everyone who the rightful champion is. Michaels says Flair’s got some pretty good back-up in Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, but what Ric doesn’t have is two heavy-hitters like Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Scott Hall talks next and says he has some big surprises in store for WCW and it all starts next week. Russell asks him to elaborate, but all Hall will say is that Flair and his buddies are going to get what’s coming to them on the next edition of WCW Monday Nitro. Lance Russell asks Kevin Nash for a comment, but Nash simply says that his buddy Scott said all that needs to be said. Lance Russell thanks them for their time and then sends us back up to the ring for our next match…
2) WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. Rochester Roadblock: The massive Rochester Roadblock makes his way down the aisle, but he’s attacked from behind by Chris Benoit! The WCW Word Television Champion shows off his viciousness by slamming Roadblock into the guard-rail and then into the ring steps. Benoit drags Roadblock up by his hair and hurls him into the ring so the match can begin. The Canadian Crippler is ruthless in his attack on Roadblock as the Million Dollar Man cackles with glee on the outside. Roadblock tries to come back with a rake of the head, but Chris Benoit bashe shim with a headbutt and then snap suplexes the big man. Benoit then goes up top and leaps off with the flying headbutt. The Crippler makes the cover and he gets the academic three count here. WINNER: WCW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION CHRIS BENOIT
*Lance Russell enters the ring after the match to interview Chris Benoit and Ted Dibiase. Dibiase tells Russell that Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall are in a lot of trouble next week when they face off against the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit and WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko. Russell asks exactly where Flair is tonight because he hasn’t been seen at the arena. Dibiase says Flair has something to attend to tonight, but that’s none of Lance Russell’s business. Chris Benoit then boasts about his recent title wins and says he’ll manhandle every challenger like he treated the Roadblock tonight. At this point, fireworks erupt on the ramp – and here comes the man who returned to pro wrestling last week, Tiger Mask! Tiger Mask makes his way down to the ring, all decked out in his long, golden cape. He enters the ring and simply motions to Benoit’s title belt! Tiger Mask bows and then points to the belt again. Benoit cracks a smile and says if Tiger Mask wants his belt, he can go down in flames like everyone else. The Canadian Crippler goes to cheap-shot Tiger Mask, but he sees is coming and blocks the punch. Tiger Mask then levels Benoit with a spinning side kick that knocks the Crippler out to the floor! Ted Dibiase holds back Benoit and drags him away, while Tiger Mask stands tall in the ring…
**commercial break**
*WCW President J.J. Dillon is standing in the aisle with Lance Russell and another man – an Indian man who is dressed in a fine Armani suit. Dillon tells Lance that he’s happy tonight to announce that in our continuing pledge to provide the very best of professional wrestling to WCW fans, we will soon crown a brand new WCW Women’s Champion! Dillon reveals that a tournament will begin in two weeks on WCW Pro and the winner will be crowned at the Clash of the Champions next month. J.J. introduces the man next to him as Mr. Tiger Al Singh, who represents WCW International. Mr. Singh is the official liaison to WCW’s business partners in Japan. Mr. Singh gets on the microphone and thanks J.J. Dillon for the introduction and says he will be representing three great Japanese stars in this tournament. He is happy to announce that the legendary Jumping Bomb Angels (Noriyo Tateno and Itsuki Yamazaki) will both be taking part on the tournament as will the woman who has dominated the sport in Japan in recent years - former "Crush Girl" Chigusa Nagayo. Singh says he is very confidant that one of these women will bring home the gold…
*J.J. Dillon praises all of those Japanese stars, but mentions that three prominent American stars will appear as well. Dillon reveals that Luna Vachon, Wendi Richter and Ivory will both be competing in this incredible. As will his very special guest tonight! Dillon: “Please welcome back to World Championship Wrestling, the biggest American star in the history of women’s wrestling – Madusa!” Madusa makes her way out to the aisle and shakes hands with J.J. Dillon. She tries to do the same to Tiger Ali Singh, but he’s not at all interested. Madusa tells Lance Russell that she’s happy to be back here in WCW because this is the premiere organization for wrestling in the world today and says she is committed to winning this tournament. Here name is Madusa – that’s MADe in the USA. She’s going to bring that bet home to the US! Dillon urges fans to tune into WCW Pro this weekend to see a special preview of that match as Madusa teams with Ivory and Wendi Richter to take on Chigusa Nagayo, Noriyo Tateno and Luna Vachon! Mr. Singh wishes Madus all the luck in the world because he says she will need it. Madusa counters that it will be Singh’s girls who need the lucky when they’re getting their heads knocked in. J.J. Dillon hypes the tournament a little more and then sends us up to the ring…
3) Craig “Pittbull” Pittman vs Rick Martel: This newcomer the Pittbull looks incredibly intense as he walks down the ring. Pittman is decked out in camouflage and as he enters the ring, he squats down in the corner and waits. His opponent tonight is Rick Martel, who has been on quite a roll of late. The two men lock-up and Pittman gets the better of Martel early on with a butterfly suplex. He pounces and works over Martel’s shoulder for the next few minutes, but Rick is able to get back to his feet and connect with a dropkick. Martel goes to lift Pittman into a slam, but clearly he’s having some pain in that shoulder because he just drops Pittman and gropes his arm. The Pittbull is back up and he grabs Martel’s arm to pull him to the canvas in an armlock. Mike Tenay notes that this move is called the Code Red and it’s only a matter of seconds until Martel submits! The announcers are all shocked that Craig “Pittbull” Pittman has defeated Rick Martel in his very first match here in World Championship Wrestling. WINNER: CRAIG “PITTBULL” PITTMAN
*VTR: We get another special look at Miguel Perez Jr., who makes his debut here in WCW on next week’s edition of WCW Monday Nitro. There are highlights from his tenure in WWC in Puerto Rico, including clips from his three Caribbean Heavyweight Title wins. As we go back to the studio, Mike Tenay again builds up Perez as a second generation superstar who has seemingly surpassed his father. Next week, Miguel Perez Jr. steps into a WCW ring for the very first time and he will take on the double-tough Lord David Taylor. Mike Tenay is interrupted at this point by Kevin Sullivan, who is seething with anger as he approaches the broadcast desk. Sullivan says last week proved that he’s lost his way. He used to eat punks like Brian Pillman for lunch and yet he lost in the cage. Sullivan says he’s going on a journey to once again study at the feet of the master. He will dine on the beetlenut and make love to the lady of the third eye. Sullivan says that when he returns, he will unleash with him doom on Brian Pillman and all of WCW. Sullivan throws down the microphone and walks off as Mike, Tony and Dusty wonder aloud what the heck he was talking about…

*Tony Schiavone tells as we come back that he’s been told there is something going on in Shawn Michaels’ dressing room. After the announcers speculate for a few seconds, we go back to the dressing room where Shawn Michaels is laying on the floor as he is being attended to by medics. On both sides of his right knee are two halves of a broken cinder block! Shawn is screaming in pain as the medics try to figure out what happened. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall burst into the room and demand to know what’s going on. One of the medics says Shawn told them that he was jumped from behind. Nash and Hall immediately both realize that Ted Dibiase and his goons pulled a sneak attack to try to sabotage next week’s six-man tag team match. Michaels has clearly been severely injured here and soon he is loaded onto a gurney and rushed to a waiting ambulance. Kevin Nash gets in the ambulance to go with Shawn to the hospital, while Scott Hall promises that he is going to get some answers as to what the heck just happened…
4) Lance Storm vs. Taz (w/ Bill Alfonso): This is a grudge match that has been brewing for close to a month now. Storm wants to lock-up to start off, but Taz kicks him in the stomach and leg-scissors Lance down to the canvas. Taz switches position to apply a side-headlock, but Storm is near the ropes and he hooks both legs on the ropes. Taz is forced to break the hold. As they get back to their feet, Storm lands a forearm strike and shoots his opponent off the ropes. Lance Storm lands a cross-body block and he stays on top for the cover, but Taz is able to get out at two. Storm lands a hurricanrana as Taz gets to his feet and then positions himself for the superkick. Alfonso sounds that whistle loudly out on the floor, causing Storm to turn around to see what’s going on. That’s all the break Taz needs as he hooks Lance from behind and drives him into the canvas with a belly-to-back suplex. Taz covers now and he gets a two count before Storm manages to power out. Lance pulls Taz to his feet now, but Taz shoves him away. Taz charges but he gets hit right on the chin with the super kick! Taz is down now, but Bill Alfonso is up – on the apron, that is! Fonzie is sounding that whistle and he ends up getting collared by Storm. Taz is now up again and he drives a knee into Lance’s back. Taz spins around and drives Storm to the canvas with a T-Bone Tazplex to score the three count in this incredibly competitive match! WINNER: TAZ *Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes takes a few moments to talk about that brutal attack by Shawn Michaels. Tony says it seems pretty clear just what ‘business’ Ric Flair was attending to tonight. They then throw it down to Lance Russell, who is standing by at ringside with Ken Shamrock. Shamrock talks about his undefeated streak, but says he’s angry that he couldn’t win last week’s battle royal. Lance mentions that Shamrock eliminated more people from that battle royal than anyone, but Ken says that doesn’t make up for the fact that he didn’t win. Lance reveals that next week Shamrock will take on Ice Train, a very tough and very strong individual who gave the Legion of Doom a run for their money in the past. Shamrock says he’s got something to prove and he’s going to do it next week against Ice Train. Ken says Ice Train may be big and strong, but he will tap out to the Ankle Lock just like everyone else has. Shamrock then walks off, looking intense as ever, as we go to break…

*Lance Russell interviews Sting backstage as he gets ready for his match against WCW United States Heavyweight Champion. Sting takes a moment to say he’s pretty disgusted that Ted Dibiase and Ric Flair would resort to such a heinous attack on Shawn Michaels, but he’s not surprised. Sting says he hopes Flair and his cronies get their heads bashed in for what they’ve pulled. Lance then asks him about Stan Hansen, who has been very dominant in his two months as champion. Sting admits that there are not a lot of guys who can stand up to Stan Hansen, but he tells the fans that they’re looking at the guy who will stand up to Hansen and make the big goof shut up too! Sting says he’s wrestled a lot of big guys in the past – Big Van Vader, Sid Vicious, and Abdullah The Butcher to name a few. All of those guys ended up screaming for mercy in the Scorpion Deathlock and so will Stan Hansen! Sting pounds his chest and then gives us an “OWWWWWW” as Lance Russell sends us back up to the ring…
5) WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom (Hawk & Animal) (w/ Paul Ellering) vs. Demolition: Hawk and Animal have demanded to face all three teams who have challenged them – they start tonight with Demolition. Crush looks incredibly impressive in the early going and he even manages to dominate both members of the LOD when they both hit the ring. Smash tags in later on and lands a few stomps, but Animal catches him with a shot to the gut. Animal shoots Smash off the ropes and connects with the big splash. Animal then crawls into his corner to tag in Hawk. Hawk climbs up to the top rope as Smash tries to pull himself up. Smash turns around and Hawk comes flying off the rope with a big clothesline. Hawk makes the cover – and look at this! Crush just stands on the apron, nodding his head in disgust. The referee makes the three count to give The Legion of Doom a successful title defense. As the LOD celebrate in the ring after the match, Crush helps Smash up and then lays him out with a short-arm clothesline. Crush’s seemingly disgust with his Demolition partners has finally come to a head after Smash blew a title opportunity. WINNERS: WCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE LEGION OF DOOM
*J.J. Dillon is standing by with Lance Russell to make another major announcement. Dillon tells Lance that WCW is so popular that people from other sports and the entertainment world are always looking to get involved. J.J. says he’s happy to announce that there is a new member of the WCW broadcast team – someone who all WCW fans will know very well. Dillon then welcomes that person – former All-America, Superbowl champion Steve “Mongo” McMichael! Mongo makes his way down to the ramp to a nice reaction from the fans. McMichael says he’s been a big WCW fan for years because the guys in this sport don’t wear pads and they are encouraged to fight out their differences at all costs. So he’s very happy to be a part of WCW. Dillon reveals that Mongo will join Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay here on WCW Monday Nitro next week, while Dusty Rhodes will be moving exclusively to co-host WCW Pro with Mike Tenay beginning this weekend. Mongo says he can’t wait to get up close and personal with all this great action and promises that where Mongo goes, the party goes! Steve McMichael slaps from hands with the fans around ringside as Lance Russell throws us to commercial…
**commercial break**
*The Bruise Brothers (Ron & Don Harris) are standing by with Lance Russell. On next week’s WCW Monday Nitro, the twins will get their shot against WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom. The winners of that match will defend against The Nasty Boys at the Clash of the Champions on February 18. Ron (?) says he and his brother love to fight just like the Road Warriors do. So next week should be a hell of a night for all four of them. Don (?) adds that he and his brother are a lot like Hawk and Animal, except they’re younger, tougher and more vicious. The Bruise Brothers have respect for all that the LOD have accomplished, but that respect goes out the window next week when they hook it up for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. Lance Russell thanks the Bruise Brothers for the interview and then sends us to our next commercial break…
6) WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Stan Hansen vs Sting: Sting is out first and he slaps hands with the fans seated around the ringside area. Stan Hansen storms down to the ring next – he throws his belt and his rope into the corner. Hansen charges Sting, but The Stinger sees him coming and connects with a series of kicks to the stomach. Sting hits the ropes, grabs Hansen by the hair and drives him head-first into the canvas! Sting is right up with an “OOOOOOWWWWW” and he now goes to apply the Scorpion Deathlock, but Hansen kicks him away. Hansen gets to his feet as Sting tries to apply a headlock, but Stan elbows him in the gut. Hansen shoots Sting off the ropes and he connects with the big boot to the face on the Stinger! Stan is now all over his opponent with stomps and elbow drops. He gets back up and signals for his signature running lariat. Hansen perches as Sting gets back to his feet and then nearly takes the Stinger’s head off with the LAAAAAAARIATOOOO! Hansen is right on top for the easy cover to get the 1-2-3!! NO! STING KICKED OUT JUST IN TIME! Hansen can’t believe it! Stan now perches again – he’s going for another lariat! As Sting gets back up, Hansen hits the ropes and swings again, but this time Stinger ducks! Hansen turns around – and gets a dropkick right in the mush. The dizzy Hansen stumbles up and walks into an Atomic Drop! Sting hits the ropes for a clothesline of his own and now he grabs Hansen’s legs. The Stinger hooks him and applies the Scorpion Deathlock! Hansen writhes in pain for a few minutes, but he eventually has no choice other than to submit! We have a new champion! Stinger celebrates with the gold as Hansen rolls out to the floor and lays at ringside. WINNER: NEW WCW UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION STING
*After the match, Lance Russell is interviewing Scott Hall in the aisleway. Hall says he’s just talked to Kevin Nash and it looks like Shawn’s right knee has been severely fractured. Hall knows Ric Flair and Ted Dibiase were behind this because they were scared of next week’s six-man tag team match. Lance asks Hall if he and Kevin are going to be prepared to go into a handicap match or will they ask that the match be cancelled? Scott says there’s no way in hell that he and Big Kev are going to let Ric Flair and his cronies get away with this – so yes, they’ll take them on 3-on-2. At this point, the new WCW United States Champion Sting walks up and says he’s seen this all before. Sting says he’s been dealing with Ric Flair for close to ten years now and he’s been the victim of many of these sneak attacks. Well, this is going to stop! Sting says he will not let Ric Flair get away with what he’s done so he’s asking to team with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash right here next week so this thing can be an even match! Hall thanks Stinger and says he knows Big Kev would agree – they’d be very pleased to have Sting as their partner! Hall says that next week, he’s going to get Flair, Malenko and Benoit in the ring so he can “carve… them… up!” Scott Hall throws his toothpick at the camera and then walks off with Stinger. Fans, we still don’t know what happened to Shawn Michaels, but we do know Sting will step in for him in next week’s six-man tag team main event…
*We now go back to the announce position where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes wrap up tonight’s show. Tony, Dusty and Mike talk about the major events tonight, including Shawn Michaels’ injury and Sting agreeing to fill in for him in next week’s main event. Tony and Mike also take a moment to mention that they’re going to miss Dusty Rhodes here on WCW Nitro each week. Dusty assures them he’ll still be around for the Clash of the Champions, pay-per-views and WCW Pro shows with them, but he’ll miss being with them here on WCW Monday Nitro each week too. Mike and Tony then quickly run down next week’s card, which will feature the six-man main event, WCW World Tag Team Champions the Legion of Doom against the Bruise Brothers and Ice Train returning to take on Ken Shamrock. Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay once again bid farewell to Dusty Rhodes and then thank the viewers for watching tonight’s edition of the hottest wrestling program on television today, WCW Monday Nitro…

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING presents:
America West Arena Phoenix, Arizona January 16, 1995 Announcers: Tony Schiavone Mike Tenay & Steve “Mongo” McMichael Ring Announcer: Bob Artese Interviewer: Lance Russell Referees: Scott Dickinson, Charles Robinson & Mickey Jay *Tony Schiavone ”The Professor” Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live from Phoenix. Tony and Mike welcome Mongo to WCW Monday Nitro and both say that they are very happy to have him on the WCW broadcast crew. Steve McMichael is hyped up and says he’s ready to see all the great action tonight because he knows that World Championship Wrestling is where the big boys play. Tony moves on to highlight tonight’s card, which will feature Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko teaming up against Sting, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The announcers talk about last week’s sneak attack on Shawn Michaels and Tenay reveals that Michaels will be here tonight to discuss his injuries. Plus, we’ll have a preview of the WCW Women’s Title tournament as Madusa takes on Japan’s Devil Masadmi. The WCW World Tag Team Titles will be on the line as well as the LOD defend against the Bruise Brothers. We’ll also have The Nasty Boys and Ken Shamrock in action as well as the debut of former three-time Caribbean Heavyweight Champion Miguel Perez Jr. Mike Tenay tells Steve McMichael and Tony Schiavone that there’s no better way to kick off this show than with two of the very best women wrestlers in action here in Phoenix… 1) Madusa vs. Devil Masami (w/ Tiger Ali Singh): This is not a tournament match, but it is a chance for Devil Masami to break out as a future challenger for the gold. Madusa realizes this and is on top of her game as she frustrates Masami in the early going. The Devil bends every rule possibly, most often when her representative Tiger Ali Singh is distracting the referee. However, Madusa outlasts all the cheap tactics and stuns Devil Masami with a big dropkick! A dazed Masami gets back to her feet, but Madusa locks her, pops the hips and connects with a German suplex. Madusa bridges the move into a pinning combination and gets the three count! Madusa gets a major win heading into the WCW Women’s Title Tournament over the very game Devil Masami. WINNER: MADUSA *Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Sting are standing by with Lance Russell. Joining them is Shawn Michaels, who is standing on crutches and has a large cast over his left leg. Lance asks Shawn just what happened last week, but Michaels can’t remember. All he can recall is being jumped from behind and then waking up with his incredible pain in his knee. Shawn tells Lance that he will be out of action for some time, which is a major setback for his career. Sting tells Lance that this is classic Ric Flair and it’s going to stop here in WCW. Sting is going to beat some sense into Flair tonight with the help of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Scott Hall promises Lance that this will be a night that all wrestling fans will remember for a long-time to come. Russell asks Nash to comment, but Kevin just smiles and says once again Scott Hall said it all. Stinger tells Lance that he’s all hyped up for the match tonight and he cannot wait to kick some butt here on WCW Monday Nitro… **commercial break** *VTR: Sgt. Craig “Pittbull” Pittman is standing in front of the WCW logo. Pittbull says his win over Rick Martel came as a surprise, but it should serve as a lesson for everyone in WCW. You don’t underestimate a former United States Marine. Pittman says he’s going to inflict the same punishment to each of his opponents here in WCW because there’s a lack of discipline around here. The Pittbull is making it his personal duty to clean up all the filth here in WCW like Sting, the Road Warriors and the prissy little Shawn Michaels. There’s a move that none of them can escape from and it’s called the Code Red. When Pittman locks in the Code Red, there’s no getting out – only giving up! Sgt. Craig Pittman stares menacingly into the camera as the scene fades out… 2) Miguel Perez Jr. vs Rick Martel: Martel and Perez shakes hands before the match and then lock-up as the bell rings. Martel takes his opponent down with a side headlock, but Perez rolls out of it after a few seconds. As Rick gets back to his feet, Perez catches him with a side kick and then shoots him off the ropes. Miguel catches Martel with a cross-body block and stays on top for the cover, but Rick is able to kick out just before three. Both men are back up now with Martel landing a kick to the stomach. Martel goes to slam Perez, but Miguel rolls through into a small package. Rick Martel again kicks out, but he appears flustered here. Martel gets right back to work, however, with a pair of right hands and then goes for a suplex. Perez blocks in and then dives backwards into a DDT on Martel! Miguel goes up top now and he leaps off with a senton splash! Perez covers and he gets the 1-2-3! Miguel Perez Jr. has defeated a former World Heavyweight Champion in his WCW debut! WINNER: MIGUEL PEREZ JR. *Lance Russell is joined on the ramp by WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair and his manager Ted Dibiase. Russell tells Flair that he should be ashamed of himself for attacking Shawn Michaels last week. The Nature Boy laughs and says as much as he likes seeing Shawn Michaels hobbling around on crutches, but he can’t take the credit. Flair tells Lance Russell that he was in Los Angeles last week so he wasn’t the one who attacked Shawn Michaels. Flair: “Russell, let me assure you. If Ric Flair had attacked Shawn Michaels, Shawn wouldn’t be on crutches, he’d be in a wheelchair.” Russell doesn’t buy it and says he has a strong feeling that Ted Dibiase played a role in this attack. Dibiase denies this, but says it could have been someone who has trying to impress him though. Flair interrupts tonight and says Michaels is out of the picture and after tonight Sting, Hall and Nash will be as well. The Nature Boy admonishes Sting for “running his mouth” and tells Stinger that he should have never come back to WCW because he’s not prepared to go toe-to-toe with "THE MAN". Flair gives us a “WOOOOOO” and then struts down the aisle Lance Russell tells the viewers that he is very skeptical about what he’s just heard from Ric Flair and Ted Dibiase… **commercial break** *VTR: WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit is standing in front of the WCW logo. Benoit says tonight is about taking care of business, but he is planning to move on from there to deal with Tiger Mask. Tiger Mask made a big show last week by publicly challenging him, but that will turn out to be the worst decision of Tiger Mask’s life. Benoit talks about his match with The Rochester Roadblock last week, where he stomped the life out of a man two times his size. The Crippler asks Tiger Maks to imagine just what he’s in for if that’s what Benoit can do to a 300-lb. monster. We are then taken back to the arena, where Mike Tenay talks a little bit about Ken Shamrock’s professional wrestling and mixed martial arts careers. Shamrock has not lost a match here in WCW, but he is facing a big test tonight against Ice Train. Mongo says it takes a lot to impress him after all the wars he had on the gridiron, but Ken Shamrock may be one of the most impressive athletes he’s ever seen. Tony Schiavone throws it up to the ring for our next match… 3) Ken Shamrock vs. Ice Train: The massive Ice Train makes his first appearance in WCW in quite some time, but fans will remember him looking very impressive against the Road Warriors last summer. His opponent is the mixed martial arts champion Ken Shamrock, who has gone undefeated in his six-month tenure here in World Championship Wrestling. Ice Train tries to use his power to his advantage early on, but Shamrock rocks him with a big hurricanra that sends Train sprawling out to the floor. He tries to hit and run when he eventually re-enters the ring, but ends up falling victim to Ken’s patented belly-to-belly suplex. Shamrock then locks in the Ankle Lock submission hold and it’s only a matter of seconds before Ice Train taps out. The World’s Most Dangerous Man gets another huge win to add to his resume. WINNER: KEN SHAMROCK *Brian Pillman joins Lance Russell to gloat about his win over Kevin Sullivan a few weeks ago. Pillman says he beat Sullivan so bad that the “bald wonder” has left WCW forever is probably living in a convent somewhere. As Pillman continues to ramble on in that style only he can, a man dressed like a monk comes out with a box in his hands. The mysterious man hands Pillman the box and then walks off without saying a word. Pillman isn’t phased by this and opens the box… to reveal two purple wrestling boots with the letters “KS” emblazoned on them. Fans, those were Kevin Sullivan’s wrestling boots! Lance Russell is creeped out by this, but Brian Pillman laughs and says it looks like Sullivan has finally seen sense and is now taking up that life as a drag queen that he always wanted. Brian Pillman tosses the boots on the ground and walks off as a confused Lance Russell sends us to break… **commercial break** *VTR: We get a special look at the Japanese star Super Delfin, who will come to the US for a match with WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko right here next week on WCW Monday Nitro. Mike Tenay narrates over footage of Delfin in matches from his Michinoku feud with Dick Togo. Tenay describes Delfin as one of the most popular wrestlers in Japan and adds that the press in Japan are clamoring over his trip to the US. Back in the arena, Lance Russell is talking the upcoming WCW Clash of the Champions on TBS, when The Nasty Boys’ music is heard in the arena. Here come the #1 contenders to the WCW World Tag Team Titles. Brian Knobbs roughs up Lance Russell’s hair a little bit and says things are about to get real nasty for Steve Doll and Rex King, who are standing in the ring. Lance asks them about facing either the LOD or the Bruise Brothers at the Clash. Brian Knobbs says both teams should be quaking in their boots because whoever wins tonight will end up as losers at the Clash of the Champions! Speaking of losers, there are two of them in the ring who are about ready to feel a Nasty sensation. Knobbs and Sags strut past Lance Russell and head to the ring for their tag team match… 4) The Nasty Boys vs. The Southern Rockers (Steve Doll & Rex King): The #1 contenders to the WCW World Tag Team Titles are looking cocky as ever as they make their way down to the ring. Knobbs and Sags openly mock King and Doll before the bell rings, but that turns out to be a mistake as the Rockers catch them with stereo dropkicks. The Nasty Boys regain their focus quite quickly after that and manage to dominate by keeping Rex King on their side of the ring. Sags and Knobbs make quick tags and eventually manage to connect with the Pit Stop on King. Sags makes the cover for the win, while Brian Knobbs holds off Steve Doll. WINNERS: THE NASTY BOYS *VTR: We get a special look at Rey Mysterio Jr., who thrilled fans on WCW Monday Nitro last week and on WCW Pro last weekend. We see clips of him from Mexico and in the GWF promotion. As we come back from the VTR, Mike Tenay reveals that Rey Mysterio Jr. will be in action next week against one of his old rivals, the Mexican star Super Crazy. Tenay also plugs that the WCW Women’s Title Tournament will begin this weekend on WCW Pro with two tournament matches as Itsuki Yamazaki takes on Ivory and Chigusa Nagayo faces off with Wendi Richter. Mike also shows footage of the brawl between Madusa and Luna Vachon that broke out during the six-women tag team match last week. Tenay says a lot of fans are hoping that Madusa and Luna face off at some point during this tournament. Tony and Mongo thank Mike for his insider information and then send us to another commercial break… **commercial break** *VTR: Lance Storm is standing in front of the WCW logo. Storm talks about coming into WCW with a long string of wins, but in the last month things have come apart a bit. Storm thinks he tried to do too much, too soon here in WCW. From now, Lance is going to get back to basics by focusing on winning matches and not getting bogged down in feuds. In the long runs, Storm thinks he can avenge those losses to Dean Malenko and Taz by working his way back up the ladder and now he will be ready for them in the rematches. As we come back to the arena, Steve McMichael says Lance Storm has the right idea by just plowing ahead and proving himself in the ring. Mike Tenay praises Lance Storm as the most promising young stars in WCW and says he believes Lance will eventually hold a lot of gold here in WCW. Tony Schiavone then sends us back up to Bob Artese to get the WCW World Tag Team Title match under way… 5) WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom (Hawk & Animal) (w/ Paul Ellering) vs. The Bruise Brothers: The Bruise Brothers come out strong and they take control in the opening minutes of the match. The twins make quick tags to work over Hawk, but Animal breaks it up at one point by charging in and leveling both Harris boys with clotheslines. Animal then carries Hawk back to their corner and makes the tag. Animal explodes on Don (?) with a shoulder block and then presses Ron (?) above his head and the down to the canvas. Don (?) tries to attack from behind at that point, but Animal turns around and boots him in the gut. Animal pulls Harris in, lifts him high into the air and then drives him into the canvas with a piledriver. Animal makes the cover and gets the three count. The LOD retain their gold and will now go on to defend against the Nasty Boys at the Clash of the Champions. WINNERS: WCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE LEGION OF DOOM *Lance Russell steps into the ring to interview Paul Ellering and the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors. Ellering gloats that the LOD have two blow-hard teams down and just one more to go. Animal chimes in by saying that he and Hawk have been ready to kick those stinkin’ Nasty Boys teeth down their throats for a long time. At the clash, the only thing Nasty is going to the shape of Knobbs and Sags after they’ve been on the receiving end of a Doomsday Device. Hawk: “Welllllllllll – Nasty Boys, it looks like it’s just you and it’s just us! That’s good for us, bad for you suckers! Get ready because the Legion of Doom are out for blood and yours will do just fine! Ohhhhhhhh what a rush!” The LOD then go pose on both turnbuckles as Paul Ellering stands in the middle of the ring with a big grin on his face. Lance Russell hypes the big main event and promises that it’s coming up next… **commercial break** *VTR: We see clips from last week’s edition of WCW Monday Nitro including: Shawn Michaels being attended to be medics, Kevin Nash going with Shawn to the hospital and later Sting volunteering to team with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash against Ric Flair, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko. Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael discuss the big match just before we go down to the ring. Mongo says he can’t wait to see these six guys hook it up especially to see Sting and Flair renew their rivalry. Tony Schiavone talks about Sting and Flair trading the WCW World Heavyweight Title several times, teaming and feuding along the way. Mike Tenay also notes that this will be only Kevin Nash’s second match in WCW and Scott Hall’s in-ring debut. The announcers send us up to the ring so we can see this much-anticipated match… 6) WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit and WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Sting, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall: Dibiase’s group enter first, followed by a very hyped-up Stinger. Hall and Nash are out next and they are chatting to each other as they walk down the aisle. Flair, Benoit and Malenko are on the outside with their manager The Million Dollar Man as Nash and Hall enter the ring. Sting is standing tall in the middle of the ring and he dares Flair, Benoit and Malenko to come get some. Nash and Hall share a look, with Scott motioning at this point! Hold it! Kevin Nash just leveled Sting from behind with a knee to the back! And now Nash pulls Sting in – a Jacknife powerbomb on his own partner! Scott Hall is now stomping the hell out of Sting as Flair, Benoit and Malenko all look confused out on the floor. In the ring, Nash pulls the lifeless Sting up and tosses him to Hall. Scott Hall pulls Sting up into the air and wipes the Stinger out with the Crucifix Powerbomb! Ted Dibiase is now urging his men to leave at this point, but look at this! Flair, Benoit and Malenko are ignoring him! Flair whips off his robe and steps up onto the apron to try to figure out what’s going on. Scott Hall decks him with a right hand! Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko dive into the ring now and they both attack the charging Kevin Nash! Scott Hall slides out and he is now confronting Ted Dibiase. Hall snatches away that infamous briefcase and shoves Dibiase down. Hall then rolls back into the ring with the briefcase and he bashes Dean Malenko across the back with it! Down goes Dean Malenko! Nash lands a knee to the stomach on Chris Benoit and now he lays out the Crippler with a Jacknife Powerbomb! Flair is up now, but Hall bashes him right in the face with the briefcase – there are a litter of bodies in the ring now! Referee Scott Dickinson has rolled out of the ring and he’s obviously thrown this match out. WINNERS: NO CONTEST *Scott Hall now grabs a microphone from Bob Artese and steps back into the ring. Nash and Hall take notice of all the superstars who they’ve annihilated here. Scott Hall gets on the microphone now and he says, ”Hey yo! Let’s make this real clear for everyone here in Dubya Cee Dubya because me and Big Kev know that’s how you people needed it explained. See me and Big Kev, we’re a part of something bigger. This was just the beginning! WCW – WE’RE TAKING OVER!!” Scott Hall throws down the microphone and poses as Kevin Nash triumphantly raises his arms in the air. Look at this – hobbling down the aisle on crutches is Shawn Michaels! Michaels looks utterly shocked and we can hear him ask his friends, “What the hell are you guys doing?” Hall and Nash continue to celebrate in the ring, until Doug Dillenger, J.J. Dillon and a dozen security guards race down the aisle. Hall and Nash step out of the ring and they hop the guard rail. These two are headed out of the building through the crowd. What have we just seen here, fans? *We now go back to the announce position where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael are all in shock over what we’ve just seen. Mongo says he’s never anything like this in his life – and it’s happened on his first night in WCW! Tony is confused about what Hall and Nash’s claims that they plan on taking over World Championship Wrestling. Mike Tenay says whatever their ultimate goal is, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall have managed to lay out all four of the WCW singles champions in a matter of moments. The three announcers speculate further on what we’ve just seen and they urge us to stay tuned to WCW programming for some answers. A shocked Tony Schiavone signs off for this edition of WCW Monday Nitro from Phoenix… (c) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING presents:
Alburquerque, NM Tingley Coliseum January 23, 1995 Announcers: Tony Schiavone Mike Tenay & Steve “Mongo” McMichael Ring Announcer: Bob Artese Interviewer: Lance Russell Referees: Scott Dickinson, Charles Robinson & Mickey Jay *Tony Schiavone ”The Professor” Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live from Alburquerque. The three announce tonight’s main event which will see WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair defending his gold against Rick Martel. The WCW World Cruiserweight Title will be on the line as Dean Malenko defends against a visiting star from Japan, Super Delfin. Mike Tenay mentions that many believe Super Delfin is the most talented wrestler to come out of Japan since Jushin Liger. Plus, WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Sting will be in action, as will Madusa and the team of Gedo and Jado from Japan will face Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman. Plus, last week we had the shock of the year already as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall obliterated Sting and Ted Dibiase’s crew, before openly declaring war on WCW. Will they show up here tonight? Mike Tenay then switches gear to talk a little about the cruiserweight title match and mentions that many believe this bout between Super Delfin and Dean Malenko could truly be one to remember. Tony Schiavone sends us to the ring for this match… 1) WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. Super Delfin: Mike Tenay really hypes Super Delfin as one of the rising stars in Japan, who is making a rare appearance tonight. Tenay talks about Delfin’s matches against Dick Togo in the Michinoku Pro group and mentions that both Super Delfin and his opponent tonight, Dean Malenko, will be involved in the Super J Cup tournament in Japan in March. Tonight, however, they square off for WCW gold and neither match wastes in time as they trade a series of high impact moves. Malenko manages to take things to the mat and apply a series of leg-locks and even a Boston Crab. Somehow, Super Delfin is able to power out and propels Malenko face-first into the corner. As Malenko stumbles out, Delfin catches him with a spinning-heel kick and then drives the Iceman to the canvas with a face-buster. Delfin goes for the cover, but Malenko is able to get his right foot on the bottom rope to break the pin. Super Delfin goes up to the top rope and perches for a splash of some kind, but Malenko is up and he hits the ropes. Dean charges the corner and hip-tosses Delfin off the top rope and back into the ring. Malenko makes the cover, but Delfin kicks out! Dean Malenko is up now and he signals for the end as he lifts Delfin to his feet. However, Super Delfin catches Dean Malenko unprepared and he lays The Iceman out with the Osaka Street Cutter (Diamond Cutter)! Super Delfin is right on top for the cover and he gets the 1-2-3! The place goes nuts as Super Delfin is handed the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship! The masked man has won the title in his very first match here in WCW! Ted Dibiase is furious in the ring after the match as he claims that referee Scott Dickinson made a fast count! Super Delfin takes his belt into the crowd and celebrates. Super Delfin has just defeated Dean Malenko, who has held the title for close to six months! WINNER: WCW WORLD CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION SUPER DELFIN *Lance Storm is standing backstage for an interview with Lance Russell. Storm says he’s started to get things back on track and he hopes to really keep that momentum going. Storm says he has some unfinished business with Taz and he challenges the Human Suplex Machine to meet him in the squared circle one more time next week right here on WCW Monday Nitro. The young Canadian star says 1995 will be his break-out year and he’s going to start that by getting some revenge on Taz in front of the world here on WCW Monday Nitro. Lance Russell thanks Lance Storm for his time and expresses his opinion that he hopes the match will happen because Storm and Taz have had some great matches in the past. Russell then sends us to commercial break and mentions that he will be joined by WCW President James J. Dillon after this first commercial break… **commercial break** *Lance Russell is standing by backstage with WCW President J.J. Dillon. Dillon is here tonight to announce the main event for the Clash of the Champions on February 18. J.J. announces that since WCW has a working relationship with New Japan, he is happy to announce that one of the true legends of pro wrestling, Antonio Inoki, will be coming to America to face Ric Flair in a true dream match. Dillon mentions that Inoki has faced Muhammed Ali and beaten the likes of Bruiser Brody, Terry Funk, Big Van Vader and even the Great Muta. Russell mentions that prior to his match with Flair, Inoki will be here on WCW Monday Nitro on February 6 to make a rare appearance on American TV. Russell urges Dillon to be sure not to miss that show and certainly don’t miss the Clash because Flair vs. Inoki is one of the matches that fans around the world have been waiting to see for many years – and it will be shown live in its entirety on the Clash of the Champions… 2) Miguel Perez Jr. vs Silver King II: This match actually never got under way because while Silver King II was standing in the ring, there was a commotion in the crowd as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall made their down through the audience. They hopped the guard rail and charged the ring! Silver King II tried to brace himself, but Kevin Nash drilled him with a forearm shot to the side of the head and then Scott Hall booted him. Hall pulled Silver King II into position and laid him out with the Crucifix Powerbomb! The big man then pulled the lifeless luchador up and drilled him with a brutal Jacknife Powerbomb! Hall and Nash then threw the unconscious Silver King II out to the floor and took the microphone from ring announcer Bob Artese. WINNER: NO CONTEST *Scott Hall gets on the microphone and says the whole world has been buzzing since last week about why he and the big man are here in WCW. Hall says it’s real simple, they’re a part of something – something that’s bigger than WCW. Scott warns everyone in WCW that they should do the wise thing and leave town, go to the WWF or NWA or any of the other promotions because if they don’t, they’ll be facing a war. Hall: “Me and Big Kev - we got a message for Billionaire Ted Turner and Dubya Cee Dubya! You’ve been talkin’ the big talk about how this is where the big boys play. See me and Big Kev, we don’t play! You wanted a war? Dubya Cee Dubya – you got a war! And let me assure you, me and Big Kev – we aren’t alone, chicos!” At this point, Sting comes storming down the aisle, but he is being held back by WCW security, prelim wrestlers and Doug Dillinger. Hall and Nash laugh at the Stinger as he tries to break free and then they back out of the ring, hop the guard rail and walk back up the stands to leave. Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay are stunned at what has just happened. War has been declared on WCW, but by who?!? Tony urges to stick around because he knows Stinger will have something to say about this intrusion… **commercial break** *Lance Russell joins us after the break to run down the card for the Clash of the Champions, which will be headlined by Ric Flair defending his WCW World Heavyweight Title against Antonio Inoki and WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom facing off against The Nasty Boys. WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit storms down the ramp at this point and angrily tells Lance Russell that he wants a piece of these Outsiders after what they pulled last week. He also wants to send a message to another Outsider, Tiger Mask, who he will defend his gold against at the Clash of the Champions. Benoit says he is going to make Tiger Mask understand that he should have never returned to the sport. At the Clash, Benoit promises to destroy a legend, like his mentor Dynamite Kid should have done and The Crippler is going to take pride in doing so. The music then hits and Tiger Mask soon makes his way down the aisle as the fireworks go off. Tiger Mask gets right in Chris Benoit’s face and then points to the ring – he wants to take on Benoit right now! The Crippler doesn’t have any of that and he cheap shots Tiger Mask. Benoit and Tiger Mask are now brawling around the ringside area! Soon, Doug Dillinger and WCW security make their way down and separate these two men, who have to be torn apart. Benoit has to be restrained by his own manager Ted Dibiase so we can get the next match in the ring… 3) Gedo & Jado vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. & Billy Kidman: We get another high impact match here as Kidman makes his return to WCW after close to a year. Mysterio and Kidman show great teamwork and Rey wows the crowd with his incredible flying maneuvers. Gedo and Jado are a world-class tag team and they seem to have Kidman in real trouble at several points, but Billy is finally able to break away and make the hot tag to Rey. Mysterio climbs the top rope and dives off with a splash that catches both Gedo and Jado. Rey Mysterio hits the ropes and dropkicks Gedo, which knocks the Japanese star out to the floor. Jado hits the ropes and goes for a clothesline, but Rey forward rolls out of the way. Rey leaps to the top rope and flies off with a moon-sault. Mysterio stays on top for the cover for the three count! Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman score a major win over the impressive Japanese team. WINNERS: REY MYSTERIO JR. & BILLY KIDMAN *VTR: Sgt. Sgt. Craig Pittman stares menacingly into the camera as the scene fades out… **commercial break** *The Nasty Boys are standing by with Lance Russell as we come back from commercial. Russell hypes their match against WCW Word Tag Team Champions the Legion of Doom at the Clash and asks Jerry Sags if they are ready for their fight of their lives. Sags says there’s nothing the Nasty Boys like better than a good fight and they know they will get one against Hawk and Animal. Knobbs agrees, but exclaims that the Nasties have never come out on the losing end of a fight and that won’t change at the Clash. The Legion of Doom should get ready for a nasty sensation – and the beating of their lives. Sags assures Lance Russell that the WCW World Tag Team Titles are coming home to the Nasty Boys at the Clash of the Champions. Lance Russell hypes the match between these two teams a fight for the ages and urges fans not to miss it on February 18 at the Clash of the Champions, which will air live here on TBS… 4) Madusa vs. Leilani Kai: Mike Tenay mentions that Leilani Kai is a former World Women’s Champion of another federation, but she is in for a long night as she takes on “Made in the USA” Madusa. Madusa gets the crowd early on as she takes the fight to Kai. Kai uses every dirty tactic to gain the advantage and even pulls the hair to hurl Madusa out to the floor. An angry Madusa is right back in the ring and hits a flying forearm smash. Madusa pulls Leilani Kai to her feet, hooks her, pops the hips and drives her to the canvas with the bellyt-to-back suplex. Madusa bridges the hold into a pin to score the three count. WINNER: MADUSA *Madusa is interviewed after the match by Lance Russell. This weekend on WCW Pro, she will take on Malia Hosaka in the first round of the WCW Women’s Title tournament. We are shown clips of Luna Vachon brawling with Madusa during the six-woman tag team match on WCW Pro a few weeks ago, which started with Luna attacking Madusa from behind. Lance asks how Madusa can prepare to for her match with Hosaka, knowing that completely unpredictable Luna Vachon will be lurking. Madusa continuously refers to Vachon as “Luna-Tic” and mentions that she might be wild a crazy, but Madusa says she will be ready for anything Vachon tries. Madusa says her destiny is to win the WCW Women’s Championship and that is exactly what she is going to do. First, she will defeat Hosaka and she is actually hoping Vachon does win her own first round match so they can clash in the second round. Madusa insists that her priority is to win the WCW Women’s Title, but she wouldn’t mind settling this matter with Luna Vachon along the way. Lance Russell wraps up the interview and sends us to break… **commercial break** *WCW President James J. Dillon joins Lance Russell on the ramp as we come back. Dillon tells Lance that security is going to be beefed up next week to ensure that we don’t have any more interruptions from these Outsiders. J.J. tells Nash and Hall since they have not yet signed WCW contracts, they have no right to be in the building. At this point, Dean Malenko and Ted Dibiase charge down the ramp to interrupt the interview. Dibiase tells Dillon that Dean Malenko was cheated out of his title earlier tonight by the fast count and demands that the title be returned! Dillon replies that there was no fast count and he will certainly not reverse the decision. J.J. says he is negotiating with New Japan now to have Super Delfin with us on a weekly basis to defend the title. In fact, Super Delfin will defend the WCW World Cruiserweight Title right here next week against Super Crazy. Dillon does acknowledge that Dean Malenko has a right to rematch so the winner of next week’s title match will face The Iceman at the Clash of the Champions on February 18. For the first time, Malenko shows a little emotion as he calls Super Delfin’s win a fluke and promises that he will take back his gold at the Clash! Lance Russell wraps up the interview and then sends us up to the ring as Sting’s music begins playing… 5) WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Sting vs. Van Hammer: Van Hammer is in the wrong place at the wrong time as he faces a very angry Sting. Sting hits the ring and levels Van Hammer with a running clothesline. Stinger hits the ropes and connects with a flying knee drop and then scales the top rope. Van Hammer is slow to his feet and Stinger flies off with a big clothesline. Stinger then drags Van Hammer into the center of the ring and applies the Scorpion Death Lock. Sting really wrenches back on the hold and it’s only a matter of seconds before Van Hammer taps out. Stinger keeps the hold on after the bell, but finally releases the move after repeated warnings from the referee. WINNER: WCW UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION STING *Sting takes Bob Artese’s microphone after the match and says he has a message from Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. The Stinger says Hall and Nash should feel real good about themselves for what they’ve pulled the last few weeks. He obviously heard them out here earlier declaring war on WCW. Sting says WCW is home and he wants The Outsiders to know that WCW is defended! Sting says they declare war on WCW, but he’s also declaring war on The Outsiders. The Stinger says sooner or later he’s going to catch up with them and when that happens, these Outsiders are going to get a major taste of their own medicine. Sting: “If you boys want some warfare, all I have to say is bring it on because The Stinger is ready and waiting! OOOOOWWW!” Stinger then throws down the microphone and walks out of the ring as the fans cheer him. Tony, Mike and Mongo talk about how intense Sting is, but Schiavone says he hopes Stinger knows what he is doing by openly challenging Scott Hall and Kevin Nash… **commercial break** *Lance Russell is standing by backstage with Stan Hansen, who recently lost the US Title to Sting. Hansen yells that he is going to get his championship gold back, but along the way he will break all these punks that they put in his way. Stan says he can destroy everyone here in WCW, from 'the little jerk' Rey Mysterio Jr. up to that 'goofball announcer Steve McMichael'. Hansen talks about his own football career, but says he moved onto wrestling because the NFL wasn’t violent enough for him. Stan says everyone is raving over Mongo, but he knows a guy like McMichael wouldn’t dare try to shut him up. Hansen then says he will take on anyone and everyone here in WCW and he is going to get back to championship gold. Lance Russell sends it back to Tony Schiavone, who asks Mongo about Hansen’s comments. Steve McMichael is clearly annoyed, but says he is here as an announcer so he thinks he better keep his mouth shut. Mongo does add that Hansen should focus on actually winning some matches. Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay chuckle at that comment and send us up to the ring… 6) WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. Rick Martel: The Million Dollar Man is clearly on the edge tonight as he has already lost one championship. Flair isn’t quite as concerned as he struts around the ring and dances a little bit, before locking up with former AWA World Champion Rick Martel. Flair takes Martel to the canvas, but Rick spins around and he gets Flair in the side-headlock. The two men grapple for the next few minutes, with both scoring near falls. Martel gains some momentum after a big dropkick and he whips the crowd into a frenzy as he continuously batters around Flair for the next few minutes. Rick Martel goes to lock in his Boston Crab, but Flair reaches up and scratches his opponent’s eyes. Flair is up and he scoops Martel into the air for the knee-breaker. The Nature Boy holds on and he locks in the Figure Four! Flair has Martel trapped in the center of the ring and there is nowhere for Rick to go. Martel struggles for about 15-seconds, until he eventually is forced to submit. The reigning WCW World Heavyweight Champion gets a big win tonight as he prepares for his match against Antonio Inoki. WINNER: WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RIC FLAIR *Lance Russell steps into the ring for an interview with Ric Flair and Ted DIbiase. Flair tells Russell that he hopes Antonio Inoki was watching that match from his ivory tower in Tokyo. Ric says the entire world has always wanted to see him take on Inoki, but it’s never happened. At the Clash of the Champions, the fans will finally get to see the legend from Japan take on the legend from the US. However, that’s not quite true. Flair says he’s not just the legend of the US, he’s the legend of planet earth. He’s defeated the best in New York City, he’s beaten the best in Charlotte, he’s pinned the best in Paris and he’s crippled the best in Inoki’s own backyard of Tokyo. The Nature Boy promises that he is going to get his hand raised at the Clash and then he and The Million Dollar Man are going out on the town with San Antonio’s finest women. Flair gives us a “WOOOOO” and then struts around the ring as Lance Russell sends it back up to Tony, Mike and Mongo to wrap things up… *We now go back to the announce position where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael recap all the great action this week. Schiavone announces that the a match mentioned earlier has been signed for next week – Lance Storm will take on Taz right here on WCW Nitro. Plus, we will have WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Super Delfin defending against Super Delfin. Plus, we will have Sting and Tiger Mask teaming up against WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair and WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit. Tony Schiavone then wraps up this week’s show and urges everyone not to miss the full week of WCW programming as we head towards the Clash of the Champions… (c) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING presents:
Dallas, TX Reunion Arena January 30, 1995 Announcers: Tony Schiavone Mike Tenay & Steve “Mongo” McMichael Ring Announcer: Lance Russell Interviewer: Todd Petingil Referees: Scott Dickinson, Charles Robinson & Mickey Jay *Tony Schiavone ”The Professor” Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro, coming to you live from Alburquerque. The three announce tonight’s main event, which will see Ric Flair and Chris Benoit teaming up against Sting and Tiger Mask. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Super Delfin will also have his first title defense tonight as he takes on Super Crazy. Plus, Lance Storm will take on Taz in a rematch that a lot of fans are really looking forward to. We’ll also have The Nasty Boys in action and Dean Malenko looks to get back to his winning ways as he prepares for his title rematch against Super Delfin at the Clash of the Champions. Mongo tells Tony and Mike that he is so excited for tonight’s card because it’s got so many different types of action, with the cruiserweights, the brawlers like the Nasty Boys and great technical wrestlers like Lance Storm. Tony Schiavone throws it up to Lance Russell so we can kick off this action-packed edition of WCW Monday Nitro here on TBS… 1) Lance Storm vs. Taz (w/ Bill Alfonso): This is a rematch from the Christmas show, when Taz scored a big win over Storm. That loss inspired Lance Storm to rededicate himself to his career and he’s come up with several wins over the last month. Taz perches in the corner as Lance Storms warms up on the opposite side of the ring. As Storm removes his ring jacket, Taz attacks him from behind and hurls him across the ring with a T-Bone Tazplex. Taz goes for the cover early on, but Storm is able to kick out. Taz tries to apply the Tazmission, but Storm connects with a jaw-breaker before he hooks it in. Storm hits the ropes and connects with a flying forearm smash. Storm makes the cover, but Taz is able to kick out just before the three. Lance is right back on him with some strikes, but Taz shoots him away and then connects with a belly-to-belly when Lance charges. Taz makes the cover, but Storm is able to kick out. Alfonso is now sounding his whistle obnoxiously on the outside, while Taz once again signals to his Tazmission. Taz goes to apply the hold, but Lance slides to the side and drives Taz to the canvas with a back-suplex. Storm now scales the top rope and drills Taz with a flying side-kick. Bill Alfonso is now up on the apron, but Lance Storm decks him to receive a huge pop. Taz is pulling himself up now, but he turns right into a super kick from Lance! Storm makes the cover and he gets the 1-2-3! Lance has done it! Storm has avenged his loss to Taz by defeating him right in the center of the ring here on WCW Monday Nitro! WINNER: LANCE STORM *Sgt. Craig “Pittbull” Pittman is out after the match to tell Todd Petingill that he is sicked and tired of being ignored around here. Pittman talks about defeating a former World Champion Rick Martel and he gets nothing for it. Pittman says he wants a challenge around here – he’s proven he can beat world champions! And yet Rick Martel gets a title shot last week, which he of course lost. Pittman is sick and tired of these old fogeys using their connections to stay at the top past their prime. At this point, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine makes his way out from the back and interrupts the interview. Pittman wants to know why The Hammer would be so bold as to interrupt him. The Hammer puts over Pittman as a tough young wrestler, but he doesn’t like the Pittbull running down the legends of this sport. Valentine challenges Pittman to meet him in the ring next week on WCW Monday Nitro if he thinks he is so tough. The Pittbull laughs at the comment and then accepts the match, but he warns Greg Valentine that there will be no mercy when the Code Red is applied. Valentine and Pittman go nose-to-nose as Todd Petingill sends us to break… **commercial break** *Todd Pettingil is standing by backstage with “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Ken Shamrock, who is here tonight to make a major announcement. Pettingil mentions that Shamrock is undefeated since coming to WCW last summer and has really impressed a lot of people. Shamrock thanks Todd and mentions that he has put his MMA career on hold for the last six months, however as the reigning Pancrase Champion he is required to defend his title against Royce Gracie in the UFC in April. Ken announces that he is going to take a little time off to prepare for his fight with Gracie, but vows that he will return to WCW. Shamrock says he has something to prove against Gracie and when he does that, he will pursue his dream of becoming WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Todd wishes Shamrock the best of luck on behalf of WCW and tells him to hurry back to World Championship Wrestling. Shamrock promises that he will indeed be back in April and he will be taking no prisoners in his quest for the WCW World Title. Todd Petingil thanks Shamrock and then sends us back up to the ring… 2) The Nasty Boys vs. The Texas Hangmen: Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags are gearing up for their WCW Tag Team Title match at the Clash of the Champions, but first they have to get through the double-tough Texas Hangmen. This one is an all-out brawl, but Knobbs and Sags manage to trap Mean Mike in the corner and really work him over. The Nasty Boys make quick tags and bend every rule possible to get an advantage. The finish sees another brawl break out, with Knobbs knocking Tough Tom out to the floor. Jerry Sags then gets Mean Mike up for a piledriver and Brian Knobbs comes off the top to spike the already dangerous move. Sags makes the cover and gets the big win. WINNERS: THE NASTY BOYS *As soon as the match ends, Tony Schiavone gets word that there has been an incident back in the locker-room. As we are taken to the parking lot, we see Taz and his manager on the ground, while Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are threatening the cameraman with baseball bats. These Outsiders have just brutalized Taz and Alfonso here – not even Taz and Fonzie deserve this! Scott Hall chuckles as Kevin Nash moves menacingly towards the cameraman. At this point, the cavalry arrives as Sting, Chris Benoit, Ric Flair, Dean Malenko and Lance Storm all storm out to the parking lot. We have men who face each other later tonight out here together to run off these Outsiders! Hall and Nash immediately back up and begin to walk off, but Hall can clearly be heard shouting, “It’s war!” Sting chases after Hall and Nash, but they jump into a waiting limousine and speed away. Meanwhile, medics arrive on the scene as Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve McMichael gravely speculate on the condition of Taz… **commercial break** *Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve McMichael are all very somber as we return from commercial. Footage is shown of both Taz and Fonzie being loaded onto ambulances. Tenay says he’s been told that both men are in very bad condition. Schiavone is defiant as he says he wishes Sting would have caught up with these Outsiders because they would have gotten a little of their own medicine. Mongo is angry as well and says if somebody wants to declare war on WCW, why they show enough guts to pick a fight when it’s fair. Tony says Sting will be out here later and he is sure that the franchise of WCW will have a lot to say about this incident. VTR footage is then shown of Super Delfin winning the WCW World Cruiserweight Title from Dean Malenko in what many people are calling the upset of the year so far. Mike Tenay reiterates that Super Delfin will be here later tonight to face Super Crazy. The winner of that match will defend against Dean Malenko at the Clash of the Champions. Speaking of Dean Malenko, the Iceman is in action next against the rookie Blitzkrieg… 3) Dean Malenko (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. Blitzkrieg: The Iceman is looking to avenge losing the WCW World Cruiserweight Title last week on WCW Monday Nitro. He takes on the rookie phenomenon Blitzkrieg here and has a lot of trouble keeping the masked star on the ground early on. The tide turns when Blitzkrieg attempts a flying dropkick off the top rope, but Malenko manages to slide out of the way at the last second. Dean is right there and he boots Blitzkrieg hard in the back, before pulling him up. Malenko hooks both arms and lifts Blitzkrieg up into the Northern Lights suplex. Dean then hooks the right leg, drops to the canvas and applies a brutal STF submission hold. Blitzkrieg struggles for a few seconds, but Malenko has the hold applied too tightly. Blitzkrieg eventually has no choice and is forced to tap out. Dean Malenko refuses to release the hold at first, but is eventually coaxed to break it by his manager Ted Dibiase to break it. WINNER: DEAN MALENKO *Tiger Ali Singh makes his way out to the ramp as Todd Petingill is running down his hotline report. Singh tells Todd that he doesn’t represent the Japanese female wrestlers like Chigusa Nagayo, but also some of the top male wrestlers. His latest find is the man who the arm of former WCW wrestler Marcus Alexander Bagwell. Singh brings out this dangerous Japanese wrestler – Kurasawa! The imposing Kurasawa wearing the bizarre combination of a Road Warrior-like shoulder-pads and black chaps. Kurasawa pulls some weird faces as Tiger Ali Singh predicts that he will take WCW by storm starting with his match against Flyin’ Brian Pillman right here next week on WCW Monday Nitro. Todd Petingill hypes Kurasawa as a very dangerous man and then sends us to another commercial break… **commercial break** *Todd Pettingil is standing by with Stan Hansen, who once again mocks Steve McMichael for sticking with a “sissy sport” like football rather than becoming a wrestler like he did. Hansen says next week he is going to show Mongo what a tough man really looks like when he wins his US Title back from Sting. As Stan rags on Mongo some more, Mongo gets up from his desk and throws his head-set down. Hansen tells him to calm himself down or he might just break down into tears. Stan laughs as he walks off. A furious Mongo is boiling, but he eventually sits back down at the booth. Tony Schiavone asks him if he’s okay, but Mongo barks back that he might just have to show Stan Hansen how tough he is if Sting leaves enough of Hansen left next week. Mike Tenay and Tony Schiavone both attempt to calm Mongo down, before sending us up to the ring for our next match… 4) Flyin’ Brian Pillman vs. Super Calo: Pillman comes out and he appears to be looking over his shoulder a bit. Clips are shown of a druid delivering Kevin Sullivan’s wrestling boots and a golden spike in recent weeks on WCW Monday Nitro and on WCW Saturday Night. Super Calo uses this to his advantage and connects with a spinning wheel kick. Calo hits the top rope and dives off with a clothsline and then goes for the cover. Pillman is able to kick out and begins focusing once again. Super Calo comes off the ropes for a cross-body block, but Pillman catches him in midair and drives him down into a backbreaker. Brian then lays into Super Calo with a series of stomps and eventually connects with a snap suplex. Flyin’ Brian climbs up to the top rope and he flies off with Air Pillman, which levels the luchador! Pillman goes for the cover and he hooks both legs for the three count. WINNER: FLYIN’ BRIAN PILLMAN *Todd Petingill steps into the ring to speak with Brian Pillman, who is looking more and more unnerved. Pillman says he is sick and tired of the games – if Kevin Sullivan is trying to send a message, he should just skip this garbage and try to take a shot at him. At this point, the lights go out with a green spotlight shining on the ring. Over the PA system, we can hear what sounds like Kevin Sullivan cackling and then we hear someone else’s voice say “Blood runs cold”. We hear it three times, before the lights come back on. Brian Pillman angrily demands to know what “Blood runs cold” means, but obviously Todd Petingill has no answers. Pillman says he is sick and tired of this garbage and angrily stomps out of the ring as Todd sends us to our next commercial break… **commercial break** *WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, WCW World Television Champion Chris Benoit and their manager Ted Dibiase are standing by with Todd Petingill. These two men have big matches at the Clash and they’ll also team tonight against Sting and Tiger Mask. Flair says he cannot wait to kill the legend of Antonio Inoki at the Clash of the Champions. The more he’s thought about this match, the more he’s realized that there’s only room for one living legend in this business. At the Clash, Flair’s going to prove that he is one step ahead of Inoki and always will be. Pettingil also asks Flair about the Outsiders, but Ric says if they want a war so bad, they should step into the ring and get it done. Todd then asks Chris Benoit about his upcoming match against Tiger Mask at the Clash. Benoit says his mentor the Dynamite Kid considered Tiger Mask his greatest rival, but Dynamite was never ever able to get the definitive win. Well, Chris Benoit believes has surpassed Dynamite Kid’s legacy and he will prove it at the Clash when he defeats Tiger Mask in the middle of the ring. On the same night that Ric Flair destroys the legacy of Antonio Inoki, Benoit promises that he will do the same to Tiger Mask and send him back into retirement. The Cripper then corrects himself and says they may not wait for the Clash, he and Flair may finish off Tiger Mask later tonight in the tag match. Flair does a little of his trademark strutting as Todd Petingill sending us back into the ring… 5) WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Super Delfin vs. Super Crazy: Two very super athletes face off here. This is the very first title defense by the brand new WCW World Cruiserweight Champion Super Delfin. Delfin and Crazy spend the first few moments trading offensive flurries, with Super Crazy almost scoring a win with a moonsault off the top rope. Delfin rebounds and manages to dazzle the crowd by connecting with a senton splash off the top rope. He goes for the cover, but somehow Crazy is able to get his foot over the bottom rope. Super Crazy rallies a bit and looks to apply a reverse DDT, but Super Delfin propels himself backwards in an amazing display and connects with the Osaka Street Cutter! That’s it- lights out! Super Delfin makes the cover and he gets the academic three count to make his first title defense a successful one. WINNER: SUPER DELFIN *VTR: WCW World Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom and their manager Paul Ellering are standing in front of the WCW logo. Ellering says the sunset on the Nasty Boys’ momentum because they will go quietly into the dark night at the Clash of the Champions. Precious Paul boasts that the LOD have run both the Bruise Brothers and Demolition out of WCW and they will now do the very same thing to The Nasty Boys. Hawk tells his manager that he loves nothing more than a good fight – he doesn’t feel at home unless his opponents are bleeding or maybe he’s bleeding himself. The LOD are headed for one hell of a fight at the Clash, but Hawk insists that the Road Warriors never, ever lose a fight. Animal shouts that he’s been waiting to send The Nasty Boys on a one-way trip back to Nastyville in a hearse for a long, long time and he can’t wait to finally do it in just a few weeks time. Hawk: “Nasty Boys! Road Warriors! You know what that means – somebody’s getting hurt! Ooooooooh what a rush!” Hawk and Animal mug for the camera as the scene fades out… **commercial break** *Todd Petingill interviews the young team of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman, who have impressed many with their recent victories. Next week, they will face the British team of Alex Shane and Robbie Brookside, who are looking to make a name for themselves here in WCW. Mysterio says he and Kidman are really proud to be wrestling here in WCW and they believe they can both make waves as tag team wrestlers as well as in the cruiserweight division. Kidman says it’s his dream to be the WCW Cruiserweight Champion and he knows Rey feels the same way. To get there, he and Rey will have to work their way up the ladder and they will do that by continuing to get wins. Kidman says with their speed and innovative moves, nobody can stop them in WCW. Mysterio says he isn’t quite as boastful as Billy Kidman (which Kidman shrugs off), but he thinks they can be successful and they’re looking forward to face Shane and Brookside right here next week. Todd Petingill thanks the two young stars for joining him and then tells us it’s time for the main event of the evening… 6) WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair & WCW World Television Heavyweight Champion Chris Benoit (w/ Ted Dibiase) vs. WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Sting & Tiger Mask: Flair and Benoit make quick tags in the early going and really are able to work over Tiger Mask here. Sting is rallying the crowd by slapping his hand on the top turnbuckle. Tiger Mask finally manages to mount a comeback and he nails Benoit with a big dropkick that stuns the WCW World Television Champion. Tiger manages to get to his corner, but Flair gets the tag and nails Tiger Mask from behind. Flair suplexes Tiger Mask back into the center of the ring and he looks around and then spits on the prone Tiger Mask, which elicits a lot of boos from the fans in Dallas. This has an incredible effect on Tiger Mask as he leaps up and hammers Flair with a right hand. Chris Benoit is now in and Tiger Mask catches him with a right hand to the jaw and then leaps into his corner and tags in Sting. Sting comes in like a house of fire and clotheslines both Flair and Benoit and then slams Flair right in the center of the ring. The Stinger then locks Ric Flair in an armbar and really works him over for several moments. Stinger releases the hold and hip-tosses Flair into the center of the ring and applies a side-headlock for briefly before sending Ric Flair into the corner. Sting has Ric Flair backed into a corner and is wailing away with chops to the chest of the Nature Boy. Stinger then monkey-flips Flair out of the corner and tags in Tiger Mask, who gets a big reaction from the fans and he decks Ric Flair with a hard right hand and then connects with a DDT, but Flair kicks out of a pin attempt. As they get up, Flair manages to see that the referee out of position and so he kicks Tiger Mask right in the groin! Flair backs into his corner and tags in Chris Benoit, who comes off the second rope and hits a double sledge that knocks Tiger Mask back into his own corner and Stinger is back in. It looks like Stinger is going to go for a spinning wheel kick, but Flair is back and he chop-blocks Sting’s right knee from behind. Flair then rolls back out to the floor and we can clearly see him slip something into his right boot, but referee Scott Dickinson didn’t catch it. Sting is down in the ring clutching his knee and Chris Benoit makes the tag to Ric Flair, who waits for Stinger to get back to his feet. Ric Flair then kicks Stinger’s right knee with that loaded boot and Stinger goes down like a sack of hammers. Ric Flair then is able to lock Sting in the infamous Figure Four, however Stinger kicks him away. At this point, Chris Benoit charges in, but Tiger Mask is in with a cross-body that sends him and The Crippler out to the floor. Stinger is up now and he is decking Ric Flair, but there is a commotion in the crowd! It’s The Outsiders – they’ve gotten into the building again! The Outsiders are coming down through the crowd and they are trying to jump the railing, but Doug Dillinger and WCW security are trying to stop them. Sting is clearly distracted and he is shouting at Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, who are challenging him to a fighter. However, this allows Ric Flair to lower the boom with a knee to the back and he rolls Stinger up, with a handful of tights! Stinger tries to get out, but he can’t as Dickinson administers the three count. Fans, The Outsiders have cost Stinger and Tiger Mask a match here! WINNERS: RIC FLAIR & CHRIS BENOIT *Sting gets on the microphone as Ric Flair and Ted Dibiase lead Chris Benoit away from ringside. WCW security are escorting Hall and Nash up the aisle and back out of the building. The Outsiders are laughing what they've just done! Chris Benoit wants to go chase the Outsiders, but Flair and Dibiase think better of the situation. Sting gets on the microphone and says he has had enough of this garbage with The Outsiders interfering and using these sneak attacks. If they want a war with WCW, they can have one! Sting calls on everyone in WCW locker-room to put aside their petty feuds because their livelihood is being threatened here by these Outsiders. Sting promises that the next time The Outsiders show up, he will be ready and he will bring the fight to them! Sting throws down the microphone and stomps around the ring as we go back to the announcers to wrap up the show… *We now go back to the announce position where Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Steve “Mongo” McMichael recap all the great action this week. Schiavone can’t over the gall of these Outsiders, but he wants to see WCW shut them the hell up. Mike Tenay tries to calm things down and runs over the card for next week’s show. Tenay mentions that Sgt. Craig Pittman will face Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and we will also see Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman face off with the British team Alex Shane and Robbie Brookside. Plus, Dean Malenko will take on the Great Sasuke in what should be an incredible match. Flyin' Brian will square off with Tiger Ali Singh's client Kurasawa as well. In the main event, Sting will defend his WCW United States Heavyweight Title against The Giant. A rattled Tony Schiavone then thanks Mike Tenay for retaining his compsure and then wishes all the fans a good night… (c) WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING
