The AWA presents:
United States Wrestling Association
“Championship Wrestling”
Channel Five Studios
Memphis, TN
Air Date: June 2, 1995
Broadcast Team: Lance Russell & Dave Brown
Ring Announcer: Corey Macklin
Referees: Jerry Calhoun & Frank Morrell
*The opening video fades into the studio where the camera pans the audience and then sends us over to LANCE RUSSELL and DAVE BROWN! They show highlights from Monday’s MSC show including: Jerry Lawler returning to help Koko Ware defeat Bill Dundee, Billy Jack Haynes going nuts and destroying the ringside area, Sid Vicious and Terry Gordy fight amongst themselves, and the Truth Commission winning the USWA Tag Team Titles from PG-13. Lance Russell says all of those wrestlers will be here on today’s program to promote this Tuesday’s card at the Mid-South Coliseum. Dave also reveals that former WCW Heavyweight Champion Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat will be here today to make his first-ever appearance in the studio. Lance and Dave then take a call from USWA World Heavyweight Champion Sycho Sid, who is none to pleased after being attacked by Terry Gordy last week. Sid says he will not stand for this anymore – he wants both Smothers and Gordy in the ring this Tuesday and he doesn’t care how Randy Hales makes it happen. Sid says he’ll be watching the show today and he is demanding a solution from Randy Hales by the end of this episode of Championship Wrestling. Lance and Dave thank Sid for calling in and then throw it up to the ring for our first match today.
USWA Tag Team Champions The Truth Commission (w/ Dr. Don Callis & Tank) defeat Judge Dredd and TD Steele at 5:34 when Recon comes off the second rope with a knee drop on TD Steele to score the pinfall victory.
*Dr. Don Callis is in a celebratory mood this week as he leads the Truth Commission over to the broadcast booth. Lance congratulates Dr. Callis, but does mention that it wasn’t entirely clean victory. Callis denies any misdeeds and accuses Russell of slandering his good name. The doctor tells Lance and Dave that his team were simply physically and genetically superior to PG-13 and that is why they are new champions. Dave Brown announces that a rematch will take place this Tuesday, but Callis insists that he isn’t worried in the slightest. His Truth Commission defeated PG-13 the first time out of the gate and they will do so again with ease this Tuesday night. Callis says his reign of terror in the USWA is just beginning – there’s quite a lot more to come in the weeks and months to come. Lance and Dave preview that The King will be here next and we’re still waiting on an announcement from Randy Hales about the USWA Heavyweight Title.

*Jerry “The King” Lawler, Koko Ware and Jeff Jarrett are in the studio as we come back. Koko and Jeff laugh about outsmarting Dundee and Rich and thank The King for his help. Lance asks if Lawler will be in the ring in the scheduled tag team match this week against Rich and Dundee, but The King reveals that he still needs one more week before being cleared to compete. The King reveals that Koko Ware has kindly offered to step in to team with Jeff Jarrett this week and if Dundee and Rich somehow survive, Lawler reveals he is working on signing a very special match for next week. Koko then says he was happy to get the big win over Dundee last week, although of course he didn’t actually need The King’s help. Lawler agrees, but then jokes that Koko didn’t turn it down either. Lawler and Jarrett chuckle a little as Koko Ware moves on and says he will be looking to get another big win this Tuesday night. Lance and Dave thank all three and then Koko Ware heads up to the ring for a TV match.
Koko Ware (w/ Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler) defeats Scott Studd at 8:12 when got Studd up with the Ghost Buster suplex.
*Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat makes his first-ever appearance in Memphis and tells Lance and Dave that it’s a pleasure to finally meet them. The Dragon talks about his long career and his many victories over the likes of Ric Flair, Randy Savage and Steve Austin. Steamboat said he reevaluated his career a few months ago when he walked away from the NWA and really tried to look for new opportunities. Ricky tells Lance he’s always heard the USWA is the roughest and toughest territory in the world and it was time for him to test himself. The interview is then interrupted by Reggie B. Fine, who complains that nobody cares about Ricky Steamboat. Reggie says the people of Memphis want to see Reggie, which elicits boos. The annoying Fine then challenges Ricky Steamboat at the Coliseum so he embarrass him and send him back crying to the NWA. The Dragon accepts the match, but he warns Reggie B. Fine that things not go as he’s planned on Tuesday night. Steamboat then thanks Lance Russell and Dave Brown and walks away as Reggie B. Fine mugs for the camera.

*Terry Gordy is out next and he tells Lance Russell and Dave Brown that he’s been banging on Randy Hales’ door for half an hour, but gets no response. Gordy says he listened to Sycho Sid earlier and although he doesn’t agree with the champ, he does agree that it’s time to end this garbage. Terry says this whole feud with himself, Tracy Smothers and Sycho Sid has gone on long enough – it’s time to settle things this Tuesday night. Gordy tells Lance that Randy Hales can’t stay in his office forever. The people are expecting answers. Terry Gordy is expecting answers. Sycho Sid is expecting answers. Even those morons Bob Armstrong and Tracy Smothers are looking for answers. Gordy closes by warning Randy Hales that the clock is ticking. Dave and Lance the show a preview VTR of Gangrel, the mysterious wrestler who will be coming to the USWA in the coming weeks.
The Headbangers defeat Gambler & Tony Williams at 7:33 when Mosh came off the top rope with a leg drop to score a debut win over The Gambler.
*David Cash is out next to celebrate his win over Ricky Morton, but the celebration doesn’t last long before the Rock n’ Roll Express make their way out. Ricky Morton says David Cash that he got lucky last week and he is demanding that Cash give him a rematch. David says he’d love to do it, but he and Morton made an agreement to put an end to the feud last Tuesday. Cash insists that he is a man of his word, unlike Ricky Morton. Ricky then slaps David Cash across the fans and says the kid has no right to turn him down, which brings over The Headbangers. Mosh gets on the microphone and says David Cash has already beat Ricky Morton, but he and Thrasher are free this Tuesday and would love a chance to show that classic rock is dead. Ricky Morton angrily shouts back that The Headbangers are young punks like David Cash and they’ve just made the biggest mistake of their lives by signing a match with the Rock n’ Roll Express. Morton and Gibson storm off as Thrasher jokes to David Cash that Ricky Morton is old enough to be their grandpa.

*PG-13 are joining Lance Russell and Dave Brown and they aren’t happy. Wolfie D says the people saw Don Callis and Tank pull their underhanded tactics to steal the USWA Tag Team Titles. JC Ice then promises that this week, he and Wolfie will fight fire with fire if necessary. Ice says he and Wolfie didn’t come back here to Memphis to be after-thoughts so this Tuesday night they will be champions once again. PG-13 walk off as SMW Commissioner Bob Armstrong and Tracy Smothers are out to protest Randy Hales refusing to speak with anyone. Bob Armstrong says things don’t operate this way in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Lance Russell replies that things don’t operate AT ALL in SMW these days, which ticks off Armstrong. Smothers then gets on the microphone and says he is owed a title match so Randy Hales better do the right thing today or he’ll find out what southern justice is all about. Smothers and Armstrong then walk off towards the ring.
Tracy Smothers (w/ Bob Armstrong) defeat Robbie Rage at 4:34 when Smothers connected with a spinning neck-breaker on Rage to score the win.
*A nervous Scott Bowden is out next with his client Billy Jack Haynes, who is angrily pacing around the set. Bowden says this issue between his clients has gotten out of control so he’s hoping that they can settle things this Tuesday night and then get back on the same page. A furious Billy Jack storms over and takes the microphone. Haynes screams that he’ll never be back on the same page with Buddy Landell because Buddy will be a cripple after this Tuesday night. Billy Jack says he made a dumb mistake last week by letting Scott Bowden convince to lower his guard and he a got a shot to the nuts in response. The big man promises he’ll never make that mistake again and he vows to rip that bleach blond doughboy from limb to limb. Bowden tries to calm Haynes down by patting him on the shoulder. Billy Jack whips around, collars his manager and threatens to break his foot off in Bowden's add if he ever touches him again. Bowden begs off and then follows Billy Jack Haynes as he walks off.

*Bill Dundee and Tommy Rich are out next. Dundee complains to Lance Russell that obviously the security is crappy at the Coliseum because a fan somehow was able to hop the guard rail without being stopped. Bill says it’s pretty clear that the USWA and even the people of Memphis have it in for himself and Tommy Rich. Rich says he heard “somebody say sumthin’ about a tag team title match” this Tuesday night. Wildfire says Koko Ware hasn’t learned very much in all the years they’ve known each other because obviously Ware doesn’t realize that Lawler and Jarrett will always turns their backs on their so-called friends at some point. Dundee agrees and says it’s too bad but he and Wildfire will embarrass and expose Koko and Jarret this week and then they’ll finish the job they started on Lawler when he can compete again. Rich and Dundee walk off, which brings Brian Christopher onto the set. Lance and Dave mention that this mysterious man who has targeted Christopher has recruited Black Magic to face Brian this Tuesday. Christopher assures Lance and Dave that he will take care of Black Magic like he has everyone else this jerk has lined up for him.
Reggie B. Fine defeats Kenny Kaos at 5:43 when Fine connected with a big boot to the forehead.
*Randy Hales finally joined Lance Russell and Dave Brown to close the show. Hales apologizes for not being out here earlier, but he has been working to solve this issue surrounding the USWA Heavyweight Title. He’s listened to Sycho Sid, he’s listened to Terry Gordy and he’s even unfortunately listened to Bob Armstrong and Tracy Smothers. Randy says he’s come up with a solution – Sycho Sid will defend the USWA World Heavyweight Title on Tuesday against BOTH Terry Gordy and Tracy Smothers in a Three Way Dance! It will be one fall to a finish – no disqualifications or count-outs. This brings Bob Armstrong back into the studio and says obviously Randy is stacking the deck against Tracy Smothers even still. Armstrong the promises that Smothers WILL win the USWA Title this week, even if it takes a little SMW creativity, and then he’s bringing the title back to the great Smoky Mountain fans. Randy Hales and Bob Armstrong shout at each other as the announcers go into the preview for Tuesday night.
