WCW Saturday Night May 7, 1994 (Taped 1 Week Prior) Center Stage Theater Atlanta, Georgia Referees: Mickey Jay, Charles Robinson Your Ring Announcer: Gordon Solie Your Broadcast Team: Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Lance Russell*The theme music and intro video play to open the show and as the music fades, the camera closes in on Mike Tenay, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes and Lance Russell at the interview platform… *Our three announcers welcome us all to this program with Mike Tenay revealing that WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair defeated Big Van Vader last weekend at the Philadelphia Spectrum and it caused Vader to turn tail and leave WCW because he was afraid of the competition. On tonight's show, we gear up for WCW Nitro with a big main event as The British Bulldog faces Bunkhouse Buck. We'll also have the debut of Johnny Ace and Mr. Tutti Frutti steps into the ring as well. WCW President Nick Bockwinkel will make a special appearance to announce an update on Ric Flair's challenger for the Bash At The Beach '94 PPV coming up on June 12 from Miami, Florida. WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal has sent in special VTR, which will be shown later. All this and more, including an appearance by Ric Flair, when we return from this break... COMMERCIAL BREAK*WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat) are interviewed by Michael PS Hayes. Hayes announces that a title match between the Can-Ams and the team of Marcus Alexander Bagwell & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert has been signed for the second edition of WCW Nitro, two weeks from now. Furnas says it's interesting to see how quickly Bagwell and Gilbert got a rematch, considering that they blew their first chance. However, he and Kroffat don't duck anyone so they're happy to step into the ring and take on Bagwell and Gilbert once again. However, Kroffat warns that if another injury occurs where Gilbert or Bagwell get hurt during the match, he and Doug will show not a shred more mercy than they exhibited last time. The Can-Am Express' goal each time they step into the ring is to keep those WCW World Tag Team Titles. So they'll take advantage of every misstep, every error and every injury in order to keep the gold… -1- "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff pinned Billy Kidman at 3:45 after driving the young wrestler into the canvas with a leaping piledriver. After the match, Mr. Wonderful grabbed the prone Kidman and threw him over the top rope out to the floor…*As "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff makes his way over to be interviewed by Mike Tenay, his former partner Paul Roma rushes the set and gets in Orndorff's face. Roma says nobody has seen him since Orndorff turned his back on him at Spring Stampede '94, but he's not the kind of man who can just let a beating go. Orndorff doesn't back down even a little, daring Roma to take a swing at him. Roma responds by saying he'd like to do just that, but he wants it to be inside the wrestling ring next week on the premiere edition of WCW Nitro. Mr. Wonderful doesn't bat an eye before agreeing to the match, adding that last time he let Roma walk out on his power. Next time, Roma won't be so lucky. The two men get right in one other's faces, until several referees and officials come out to separate Roma and Orndorff as we go to commercial… COMMERCIAL BREAK*WCW President Nick Bockwinkel tells Michael PS Hayes that the board of directors have decided on how to determine Ric Flair's next challenger. Bockwinkel promises that next week, on the premiere edition of WCW Nitro, he will announce a match that shake WCW to it's foundations and determine who will challenge Ric Flair at Bash At The Beash '94 live on pay-per-view in June. He also confirms that another new match has been immediately signed for WCW Nitro next week as Paul Orndorff will take on his former partner Paul Roma. Other matches which have been signed will include WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes defending his gold against Masa Chono and WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal putting his belt on the line against The British Bulldog in a Best 2/3 Falls match. Plus, Ric Flair will be in action against a former World Heavyweight Champion, "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko and Cactus Jack will take on Terry Funk. Many more surprises will be in store as WCW Nitro kicks off for two hours on Friday on TBS… -2- WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes defeated Yoshi Kwan at 4:45 after connecting with the running bulldog. The Nature looked better than ever as he worked over the martial arts expert from bell to bell…*The Legion of Doom and their manage "Precious" Paul Ellering cut a promo on the Varsity Club. Ellering says there's an event called Bash At The Beach '94 coming up in just a few weeks – that title evokes one of the Road Warriors favorite pastimes. That would bashing. Hawk says he likes to bash everything – cars, heads, cinder blocks, women, well that's a different kind of bashing! He can't think of a better way to spend an evening than having a nice old bash. So that's exactly what the Legion of Doom want to do on June 12 in Miami! Ellering notes that from time to time, it becomes necessary to take things beyond the rules of a normal match. It is time to glide with the sky-walkers, devastate with the death-brings for the Varsity Club. Only one match can settle things between the two teams and provide both teams with a chance to really bash one another. It's the way the LOD settled things with the Midnight Express all those years ago – a scaffold match! Animal shouts that it's time to see how tough the Varsity Club really are – will they tangle with the Legion of Doom twenty feet above the ground? We'll find out… -3- Johnny Ace pinned Rockin' Rebel at 7:32 after he connected with the Ace Cutter on the Rebel. Ace proved that his finishing move was devastating as Rockin' Rebel had to be helped to the dressing room after the match…*Lord Steven Regal appears in a taped promo, where we see he and Earl Neidhart of Anvil being served tea by Sir William. Regal says he resents being forced to sully his royal reputation by facing the grubby Manchester commoner once again on nationwide television on WCW Nitro. On top of that, he just doesn't understand why The Bulldog doesn't just give up at this point. Regal has beaten him before and he even managed to show his brother-in-law the light. Now that he has welcomed Neidhart into the aristocracy, he knows that his new colleague is much more at home than he ever was at the dreary Hart house in Calgary. Neidhart pipes in, taking on a terrible English accent, and says that he always knew he was better than the Hart family – he's just glad to have that proven to him by Lord Steven Regal. Neidhart predicts that Regal will win in a two straight falls, not by cheating like The British Bulldog does, but by simply out-wrestling the ruffian. Neidhart: "Any other result would be uncivilized!" Regal compliments Sir William on the quality of the tea and says he might even share with The British Bulldog at some point. The three continue their bizarre dinner scene as the view fades out… COMMERCIAL BREAK*Michael PS Hayes is standing by with The Varsity Club ("Captain" Mike Rotunda, Gary Albright and Scott Norton). Rotunda says he wants to get one thing very clear, Dustin Rhodes may have a title match against Chono next week, but sooner or later he will be forced to put the belt on the line against the Varsity Club's captain. Hayes asks about the Legion of Doom's challenge for a scaffold match, which Rotunda scoffs at. As he begins to speak, Scott Norton interrupts and accepts the match on behalf of himself and Gary Albright, say they aren't afraid of anything or anyone. Rotunda seems shocked and leads his Varsity Club off to discuss the move as Michael Hayes tells the viewers that it seems like Norton and Albright have accepted the LOD's challenge for Bash At The Beach '94… -4- Mr. Tutti Frutti pinned The Super Destroyer II at 6:14 after connecting with the shooting star press. After the bell rang, "Double J" Jeff Jarrett snuck into the ring with a steel chair and attempted to strike the masked man. Mr. Tutti Frutti sensed it and moved, causing Jarrett to bounce the chair off the top rope and hit himself in the face. Jarrett flops down to the canvas as Mr. Tutti Frutti wags his index at the prone Double J and then exits the ring…*WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes appears in a taped promo to discuss his match with Masa Chono next week. Dustin discusses Chono's impressive reputation as a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Rhodes says that a lot of great people have held that title like Great Muta and Barry Windham have held that title. What's the connection? Dustin Rhodes has beaten Muta and Windham and coming up next week on WCW Nitro, he'll beat Masa Chono. There's no doubt that Chono is great, but he's about to join Rick Rude, Steve Austin, Tully Blanchard and Larry Zbyszko as those who have fallen in defeat to Dustin Rhodes in the last year. Rhodes urges Chono to bring everything he's got to WCW Nitro next week because he's going to need all that and more… -5- The Varsity Club (Scott Norton & Gary Albright) (w/ "Captain" Mike Rotunda) defeated Joel Deaton & Steve Keirn at 6:32 after Gary Albright connected with a T-Bone suplex on Keirn. Rotunda's Varsity Club cohorts are looking better than ever by defeating two solid wrestlers like Keirn and Deaton…*Mr. Tutti Frutti is interviewed by Michael Hayes. He talks about how "Double J" Jeff Jarrett seems to get spooked every time he spots the pink mask - he even hit himself with a chair earlier. Next week is the premiere edition of WCW Nitro and although he hasn't been signed for a match, the masked man will definitely be in Orlando for all the happenings. If Jeff Jarrett is looking to settle some kind of score with him, and he doesn't know why that would be since he barely knows Jeff, all Double J has to do is show up next week on WCW Nitro to get and up close and personal view of just how BAAAAAAAAAAD Mr. Trutti Frutti really is. The masked men then shakes hands with several fans seated near the ringside area as we go to our next commercial… COMMERCIAL BREAK*Michael PS Hayes is wandering around in the bowels of the building. We can see a big dumpster and suddenly Cactus Jack appears from behind it to surprise the frightened Hayes. Cactus says that sometimes, a man needs a place where he can reflect on his choices and the choices of those close to him. A place like this – a dark, neglected, musky corner where no one really visits – is ideal for such reflection. You see, Terry Funk has claimed that Cactus betrayed everything they worked when they wrestled in an exploding bomb matches in front of 200 lunatics in Japan by coming here to WCW and pandering to the fans. That's made him think, but he believes Funk is wrong. You see, the reason he stepped into the ring where there were barbwire ropes and explosives strapped to the ring is BECAUSE of those lunatics, because that's what they come to see! When he was a teenager, he spent every dollar he had to hitchhike his way to Madison Square Garden to see Jimmy Snuka maim Don Muraco because The Magnificent One had run down all of the Superfly's people. Next week on WCW Nitro, he wants to make that dream come true for another fan, a fan who is sick and tired of Terry Funk's sanctimonious BS. On WCW Nitro next week, Cactus Jack wants to give the fans something that they will never forget… -6- The British Bulldog pinned Bunkhouse Buck at 9:19 after managing to get the big man up into the running powerslam. This was a tremendous main event with Buck proving to be a real challenge for Davey Boy. Bulldog rallied and came away with the pin after landing his signature manuever…*VTR: We get a look at Dan "The Beast" Severn in the gym working out against several amateur and professional wrestlers. He matches the Greco-Roman wrestlers move-for-move, pinning three of them in a row. Then he steps into the pro wrestling ring and uses his skill to get submissions on three pro-style wrestlers, using three different moves: the kimura, the Fujiwara arm bar and the dragon sleeper. Fans, Dan Severn is a Beast and he will debut at Bash At The Beach '94 live on Pay-Per-View… COMMCERIAL BREAK*As we come back from commercial, "Also Sprach Zarathustra" begins playing as WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair makes his way out to a rousing ovation from the fans. Flair is jubilant as he recalls with great vigor how he walked that aisle last weekend in Philadelphia into the belly of the beast, the steel cage with Big Van Vader, and not only did he beat Vader, not only did he make him submit in the middle of the ring, but he ran him out of WCW for good as a beaten man. Mike Tenay pipes in, announcing that the match will be shown next week during WCW Nitro. Flair tells all the fans to tune in to see the big bad wolf getting the beating of his no good life. That's yesterday's new, however, because Nick Bockwinkel has promised a major announcement about his challenger for Bash At The Beach '94. Flair says whatever the announcement is, whoever gets the title match, it won't matter because the Nature Boy of old is back and better than ever. WOOOOOO! Tenay also questions about facing Larry Zbyszko next week on WCW Nitro. Flair expects a great match because Larry is a former World Heavyweight Champion, but not even The Living Legend can stop Ric's momentum right now. The Nature Boys stays with Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Lance Russell as they hype next week's WCW Nitro debut and urge the fans to tune in… Mike Tenay: Fans, we'll see you this Friday for the very first exciting edition of the World Championship Wrestling's flagship program WCW Nitro! For Lance Russell, The American Dream and Michael Hayes, this is Mike Tenay saying good night and good luck! (c) 1994, WCW Saturday Night

WCW Nitro May 13, 1994 Orlando Arena Orlando, Florida Referees: Danny Davis, Mickey Jay, Charles Robinson Your Ring Announcer: Gordon Solie Your Broadcast Team: Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Michael PS Hayes*The theme music and intro video play and then we go to the arena to kick off WCW Nitro with a fireworks display, which cost more than we pay most of the wrestlers in a year… Fireworks open hour #2*Our three announcers welcome us all to the very first edition of WCW Nitro here on TBS. Mike Tenay, Michael PS Hayes and "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes welcome us to the very first edition of WCW Nitro airing live from Orlando! On this program, we will see Dustin Rhodes defend the US Heavyweight Title against former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Masa Chono. In what is sure to be one of the wildest matches in recent memory, Cactus Jack will square off against his former friend, now enemy "Terrible" Terry Funk. It will be a best 2/3 falls match as WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal defends against former title-holder "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. *At this point, WCW President Nick Bockwinkel joins the announcers to make the major announcement he promised last week. The WCW World Heavyweight Champion needs a challenger for Bash At The Beach '94 and there are many viable contenders here in WCW. So on the May 27 edition of WCW Nitro, there will be a special match called the Race For The Gold, which will pit seven top stars against one another in a gauntlet match. Lots will be drawn at random and there will be a continuous series of one-on-one matches until only one contender survives. That man will challenge for the gold at the pay-per-view on June 12. That's in a few weeks, however. There's no better way to kick-off tonight's program than to see the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair, who will be defending his title against former AWA World Heavyweight Champion "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko… -1- WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair defeated "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko at 8:19 after forcing Zbyszko to submit to the Figure Four. The Living Legend, a former World Champion in his own right, put up a nice challenge, matching Flair hold-for-hold for a few moments. But The Nature Boy kicked it in gear and dominated the second half of the match, before forcing Larry to submit in the middle of the ring…COMMERCIAL BREAK*As we come back from commercial, Lance Russell has stepped into the ring to speak with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Russell congratulates Flair for his won over Larry Zbyszko and asks for his take on Nick Bockwinkel's announcement that on the May 27 edition of WCW Nitro, seven of the top contenders will face off the Gold Rush gauntlet match to determine the #1 contender. Flair says first of all, The Nature Boy is stylin' and profilin' on the hottest show on TV, WCW Nitro – Wooooooo! As far as the gauntlet match goes, Flair wishes each and every one of the participants luck because they all will be competing for a chance to walk that aisle for a WCW World Heavyweight Title match. No matter who wins, they'll ultimately lose because there's no way that he will give up being "THE MAN". At this point, there's a bit of a ruckus in the crowd, with Russell saying, "What… what is he doing here?" The camera pans around to see a man being led to a front row seat… . . . . . . . . . . . . . *That's "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels!! He doesn't work here in WCW, what the heck is doing with a front row seat? Shawn Michaels takes his seat ringside and grins at the camera as it focuses in on him. Back in the ring, Ric Flair says he's heard a lot about this kid Shawn Michaels. Flair says if Shawn is trying to send some kind of message, he's more than welcome to step into the ring to make a name for himself. Shawn Michaels simply smiles arrogantly and waves off the camera as Flair says he hopes HBK enjoys the show and that if he ever wants to step into the ring with a real competitor, he should face off against someone from WCW. Flair exits the ring with his title as the camera once again pans over to Shawn Michaels, who put his feet up on the aisle, and motions for the cameraman to go away… -2- Cactus Jack wrestled Terry Funk to a double count-out at 9:45 after both men brawled into the crowd and failed to return to the ring. This one turned out to be an all out war, with these friends-turned-foes taking the fall all over the arena. As they fought up through the stands, Funk landed a kick that sent Cactus tumbling backwards down the flight of 30 stairs, eventually crashing into the steel barrier at ringside. Funk then waved off Cactus and took off as his opponent laid at ringside. WCW officials arrived on the scene to try to help Cactus Jack, but he pushed them all aside and, after several minutes, managed to get back to his feet. He stalked up the stairs he'd just fallen down and clearly went off to find Funk…*VTR: VTR: We get a look at Dan "The Beast" Severn in the gym working out against several amateur and professional wrestlers. Fans, Dan Severn is a Beast and he will debut at Bash At The Beach '94 live on Pay-Per-View… COMMERCIAL BREAK*As we come back from break, Mr. Tutti Frutti has joined Lance Russell on the entrance ramp and says he's so excited to be apart of the very first WCW Nitro. Before he can even really get into his spiel, "Double J" Jeff Jarrett attacks from behind with a knee to the back. Jarrett immediately goes after the match, trying to pry it off with all of his might. Mr. Tutti Frutti fights back, landing a series of shots to the stomach, but Double J responds with a low blow. After using all his strength, Jarrett is able to rip of the mask to reveal… . . . . . . . . . . . . . ANOTHER MASK!!!!*Jeff Jarrett is furious, but in his anger, Mr. Tutti Frutti responds with a right hand to the jaw that sends Double J sprawling. The masked man begins shadow boxing, throwing what look to be devastating punches. Jarrett back-tracks up the ramp, only stopping to throw a fit because another of his attempts to unmask Mr. Tutti Frutti has gone unsuccessful. Jarret angrily walks through the curtain back to the dressing room as Mr. Tutti Frutti continues to shadow box. Lance Russell laughs as he throws us to break, adding that Jeff Jarrett just cannot seem to catch a break… COMMERCIAL BREAK*VTR: We get a recap of Lord Steven Regal's feud with The British Bulldog, which has stretched back to last fall. After Bulldog defeated Regal for the WCW World TV Title earlier this year, Lord Steven resorted to dirty tactics by buying off Davey's own brother-in-law Jim Neidhart to help him regain the gold. Now Jim Neidhart has adopted the persona of the Earl Neidhart of Anvil, supposedly as a result of his blue blooded roots. Tonight, The British Bulldog gets his wish as Lord Steven will have to face at least two falls with the man who's cheated on several occasions. As we go back to the arena, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes discuss the rivalry between Regal and Bulldog, before sending us up to the ring for our next match… -3- WCW World Television Champion Lord Steven Regal (w/ Sir William & The Earl of Neidhart) defeated The British Bulldog at 18:45 in a Best 2/3 Falls match by winning two falls to one. This match carried us through two commercials. In the first fall, Lord Steven Regal after rolling Bulldog into a small package after a running knee lift. The second fall saw The British Bulldog rebound and score the pin in a matter of three minutes after connecting with the running powerslam. Controversy erupted in the third fall due to the interference of the Earl of Neidhart. Referee Danny Davis got bumped in the corner by accident as the two competitors brawled and was out of it for a few moments. Seconds later, The Bulldog connected with the axe bomber and signaled for the pin. On the outside, Sir William handed Neidhart a tea bag?!?!? Anvil quickly rips it open. He jumped on to the apron, drawing the ire of Davey Boy. As The Bulldog approached, Neidhart threw a handful of tea grains into Smith's eyes! Smith stumbled around blind, walking right into a belly-to-back suplex from Regal just as Davis shook off the daze to count the 1-2-3. Regal has stolen another victory over The British Bulldog! His victory didn't last long, because a man rushes by Neidhart and Sir William to roll into the ring. The man begins attacking Regal and is quickly identified by Mike Tenay…*Mike Tenay identifies this man as "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay, who has held the European Heavyweight Championship on numerous occasions. Wearing a jacket with "Northern Ireland" emblazed across the back, Finlay gets in several good kicks on Regal, before Neidhart and Sir William hit the ring. However, The British Bulldog is up as well and he lands a double-clothesline on both of Regal's cohorts. Sir William rolls to the outside as Davey picks up Neidhart and throws him out to the floor. Meanwhile, Finlay is slugging away Regal, laying brutal punch after brutal punch. Neidhart quickly rolls around the ringside area and pulls Lord Steven Regal out to the floor. Neidhart and Sir William drag Lord Regal away from the ring as Finlay shouts abuse in their general direction. The Belfast Bruiser turns around and he goes face-to-face with The British Bulldog. After a moment, Davey holds out his hand to the enemy of his enemy. Finlay grimaces and then spits right in Bulldog's face, followed by a kick right to the nuts! Finlay connects with a knee-lift right to the chin that knocks The Bulldog down to the canvas. The Belfast Bruiser then leaves the ring and grabs the cameraman. He shouts right into the camera, "These British pigs are going to pay for 400 years of abusing and mistreating my people!" Finlay charges off to the dressing room, perhaps to find Lord Steven Regal. In the ring, Davey Boy Smith pulls himself to his feet and stomps the canvas with a look of fury boiling over… COMMERCIAL BREAK*Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Michael PS Hayes are still buzzing about the arrival of "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay here in WCW. Hayes says it's pretty clear that BOTH Regal and The Bulldog may be in some serious trouble. Lance Russell is standing by in the locker-room with the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat), who will be defending their gold next week in a rematch against Marcus Alexander Bagwell and his partner "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert. Furnas says he and Dan have said about all they need to say about Gilbert and Bagwell. They politicked their way into a rematch, but that's fine. Next week, live on TBS, they'll lose again and then he and Dan can move on to the next set of challengers, who will lose as well. Dan Kroffat: "Get the picture, Lance? These belts are ours and they're going to stay that way. What more is there to say?" Kroffat and Furnas walk off in a huff as Russell sends us back up to the ring…. -4- "Captain" Mike Rotunda pinned Billy Kidman at 5:34 after connecting with the airplane spin into a slam. Rotunda put on a clinic, spending time weakening each one of Kidman's limbs and his back, before putting the young star away…*A woozy Cactus Jack is wobbling around the backstage area, crashing into doors and knocking over boxes. Lance Russell approaches warily, asking Cactus if he is okay after that fall he suffered earlier. Speaking slowly and menacingly, Cactus Jack says he took a nice little fall, but when he got up, Terry Funk was nowhere to be found. He wonders if Funk got scared off or maybe he just can't keep up with a younger wrestler anymore. After thinking about it, he doesn't believe it's either of those things. You see, Terry Funk is nothing if not someone who always has to have the last word. Once the two got disqualified, Cactus thinks Funk realized nothing could be settled tonight. So that means there's only one thing left to do – take disqualifications and count-outs out of the equation. Cactus says he wants to settle this and deep down he knows Terry Funk does too. At Bash At The Beach '94 in Miami, Cactus Jack challenges Terry Funk to face him in a Texas Death Match! One man walks out, the other man – well, the other man doesn't! Cactus: "Bang bang!"… -5- "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff defeated "Pretty" Paul Roma at 3:32 after Orndorff connected with the leaping piledriver on his former partner. Mr. Wonderful continued his new aggressive streak as he dominated Roma from bell to bell, putting Pretty Paul away in under four minutes…*After the match, Paul Orndorff picks Paul Roma up by the hair and drives his defeated opponent head-first into the turnbuckle. After flinging his former tag team partner out to the floor, Mr. Wonderful gets on the microphone and says he's now taken out the trash for good. People around here having been running and hiding for too long. Orndorff makes his clear that he wants in on the Race For The Gold and once he wins that match, he's coming straight for Ric Flair. After throwing down the microphone, Orndorff drops out to the floor and lays in a few more stomps on Roma, before storming off to the dressing room. As we go to break, we get a shot of Shawn Michaels seated in the crowd as he flashes a peace sign towards the camera… COMMERCIAL BREAK*VTR: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert tells Marcus Alexander Bagwell that he is very excited for their rematch next week here on WCW Nitro. Last week, Furnas and Kroffat pulled a fast one, but he's been teaching Marcus a thing or two since Spring Stampede '94. Bagwell smiles, saying he's not afraid to go toe-to-toe with bullies like The Can-Am Express, he'll prove that next week. Gilbert smiles as he hints that if all else fails, he and Bagwell won't be afraid to fight fire… with fire! Gilbert throws one of his trademark fireballs into the air as the scene fades out. Back in the arena, Mike Tenay reveals that next week's WCW Nitro will be headlined by a very special double main event, but more will be revealed on that one later… -6- WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes pinned Masa Chono at 10:34 after connecting with the running lariat. Chono seemed to have the win in hand after applying the STF, but The Natural showed tremendous heart as he was able to break the hold with a series of back elbows. As Chono tried to shake off the daze, Dustin landed the lariat and made the cover for the win. Fans, this marks yet another win by Dustin Rhodes over a former World Heavyweight Champion. After the match, Chono shook Dustin's hand in a sign of respect and bowed his head in reverence…*Following the match, the camera pans over to Shawn Michaels, who says "Oh, isn't that sweet" and feigns applause. Dustin Rhodes sees this and he walks over towards Shawn. Dustin motions for Shawn to join him in the ring if he's so bold. Michaels stands up as the crowd begins to cheer, since it appears that we are mere seconds away from a showdown between two of the best young stars in pro wrestling. After motioning that he was going to hop the rail, Shawn turns around and is then led up the stairway in the opposite direction. The fans boo as Dustin Rhodes stands in the ring, shaking his head. The camera follows HBK as he walks up the aisle way and when he reaches the top of the stairs, he looks into the camera and says, "Shawn Michaels has left the building!" Shawn then walks off as we pan back to the ring where the US Heavyweight Champion looks on, shaking his head at Shawn's arrogance… COMMCERIAL BREAK*As we come back, Mike Tenay, Michael PS Hayes and Dusty Rhodes are talking about the way Shawn Michaels taunted both Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes tonight. What exactly was the Heartbreak Kid doing here on Nitro tonight… and will he back next week? In our final moments, Tenay reminds fans that the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express will defend their gold right here next week against Marcus Alexander Bagwell and "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert. Plus, The British Bulldog has been granted a match with his brother-in-law the Earl of Neidhart after what went down earlier tonight. We'll also have what is being billed as a 'Top Contenders' preview of The Race For The Gold match as US Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes teams with Cactus Jack against Terry Funk and "Captain" Mike Rotunda. We'll also see WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair put his title on the line against Bunkhouse Buck. All that and a special announcement regarding the WCW signing of ANOTHER top UFC star right here next week when Nitro airs live from the Fort Hesterly Armory in Tampa… Mike Tenay: Fans, we'll see you next week for another exciting edition of the World Championship Wrestling's flagship program WCW Nitro! For Lance Russell, The American Dream and Michael Hayes, this is Mike Tenay saying good night and good luck! (c) 1994, WCW Nitro

WCW Nitro May 20, 1994 Fort Hesterly Armory Tampa, Florida Referees: Danny Davis, Mickey Jay, Charles Robinson Your Ring Announcer: Gordon Solie Your Broadcast Team: Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Michael PS Hayes*The theme music and intro video play and then we go to the arena to kick off WCW Nitro with a fireworks display, which cost more than we pay most of the wrestlers in a year… Fireworks open hour #2*Our three announcers welcome us all to the very first edition of WCW Nitro here on TBS. Mike Tenay, Michael PS Hayes and "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes welcome us to WCW Nitro airing live from Tampa! On this program, we will see WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat) against Marcus Alexander Bagwell & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert in a rematch from Spring Stampede '94. The British Bulldog attempts to gain some revenge as he faces his estranged brother-in-law Earl Neidhart of Anvil. Plus, in a preview of next week's Race for the Gold gauntlet match, US Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes & Cactus Jack against Terry Funk & Mike Rotunda. WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair will be in action as well, against the formidable Bunkhouse Buck. All that and more, but let's kick things off with that WCW World Tag Team Championship match… -1- WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat) defeated Marcus Alexander Bagwell & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert at 8:09 when Gilbert threw in the towel for his partner. Gilbert and Bagwell lit it up early on, scoring several near falls on Dan Kroffat. As Bagwell came off the ropes for a flying forearm smash, Doug Furnas turned down the middle rope, causing Marcus to fall backwards out to the floor, cracking his neck. Marcus could barely move, but again the Can-Ams showed their ruthlessness as Furnas tosses the prone Bagwell back into the ring. Krofft quickly applied a nerve hold, with Bagwell fading into unconsciousness. Eddie Gilbert could stand no more as he threw the towel into the ring to prevent further injury for Bagwell. As Furnas and Kroffat celebrated after the match, medics came down and took Marcus out of the ring on a stretcher …COMMERCIAL BREAK*Before the next match begins, "Double J" Jeff Jarrett made his way down the aisle with a beaming smile on his face to speak with Lance Russell. Russell went to show a clip of Jarrett's latest failure to prove that Mr. Tutti Frutti is Johnny B. Badd, but Jarrett told him that's not necessary. That was last week – it's old news. Double J is focused on next week – the Race for the Gold. You see, not only will he be in that match, but so will Mr. Tutti Frutti. So there's a real good chance they'll cross paths and he'll get his chance to pull that mask off and prove to the world what they already know is true. Then, Johnny B. Badd will be barred by every athletic commission in the US. He'll have to go to "Bulgari-er" or "Eritree-er" (Eritrea) if he wants to wrestle. Jarrett cuts the interview short, saying that he's got business to attend to in the ring. Brushing by Lance Russell, Jarrett makes his way to the ring and shouts that Montoya is in for some trouble… -2- "Double J" Jeff Jarrett defeated Aldo Montoya at 6:45 after both men Jarrett connected by forcing the masked man to submit to the Figure Four. After the match, Jarrett got on the microphone to shout, "Ain't I great", before doing the Fargo strut…*VTR: VTR: We get a look at Dan "The Beast" Severn in the gym working out against several amateur and professional wrestlers. Fans, 13-time National AAU wrestling champion Dan Severn is a Beast and he will debut at Bash At The Beach '94 live on Pay-Per-View… *Lance Russell is standing with Varsity Club members Scott Norton and Gary Albright, but "Captain" Mike Rotunda is nowhere to be found. Norton says he knows Rotunda is here, but he hasn't been around all day. He admits there's some tension since he and Gary accepted the scaffold match, but that won't get in the way of the Varsity Club destroying the LOD. See, the Road Warriors have been the most feared team in wrestling for a decade, but their time is up. It's time for the Varsity Club to take their place and they'll do it by finishing off the careers of Hawk and Animal. Norton also threatens Paul Ellering, saying he and Gary will cripple him as well if Ellering sticks his nose in. Albright then says, "Let's go find Mike" as he and Norton walk off... COMMERCIAL BREAK*WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and Lance Russell are in the aisle way. Bockwinkel reminds the viewers that next week here on WCW Nitro, seven wrestlers (Dustin Rhodes, Terry Funk, Mike Rotunda, Mr. Tutti Frutti, Cactus Jack, "Double J" Jeff Jarrett and Paul Orndorff) will draw random lots and take place in the Race for the Gold gauntlet match, with the winner receiving a title match against WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair on June 12 in Miami at Bash at the Beach '94. As part of WCW and the UFC's working relationship, there will be a very special enforcer to ensure that no funny business occurs in the Race for the Gold. That special enforcer is right there with Severn as one the most talked about stars in the UFC- he's billed as "The World's Most Dangerous Man", Ken Shamrock! Shamrock makes his way out to a nice ovation and shakes hands with Bockwinkel and Russell. Shamrock tells Lance that he'll call things right down the middle next and he'll be totally fair, but he also warns the other wrestlers to try push him because they'll like what happens if they do. Russell then throws us to a highlight package of Shamrock in action in the UFC and wrestling in Japan… -3- The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Hawk & Road Warrior Animal) (w/ "Precious" Paul Ellering) defeated "Wild Side" Chris Champion & Paul Diamond 4:42 after Hawk came off the top rope with a flying clothesline on Paul Diamond. The LOD look more than ready for their scaffold match at Bash at the Beach against the Varsity Club…*VTR: Cactus Jack is in a dark room, sitting in front of a dumpster once again. He says that his cup runneth over. Not only does he have a Texas Death Match with Terry Funk at Bash at the Beach, but he could have a chance to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title too. Now, most people would be intimidated by a challenge like that, but then again most people couldn't take a head-first fall down a cement staircase and then get up, either. So he's going to do these three things in this order. First, he will win next week's Race for the Gold by utilizing his trademark reckless abandon and Cary Grant-esque charm. Two, he'll maim his idol Terry Funk at Bash at the Beach, thus ending the career of the very man who inspired him to become a wrestler. That one's bittersweet. And later that same night, third, he'll take that final step to glory by defeating Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Title and prove once and for all that Mrs. Foley's baby boy is up there with the Jimmy Snuka, the Don Muracos, the Terry Funks and now the Ric Flairs. Bang bang… COMMERCIAL BREAK*VTR: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff is hyped up as he brags about beating his former partner Paul Roma last week in record time. Next week, he's going to do the same to six other wrestlers, and then he'll finally get a shot against Ric Flair for the WCW Heavyweight Title. Mr. Wonderful warns all of the other competitors to take out some extra health insurance because they'll need it after each and every one of them feels the force of the piledriver next week. Orndorff strikes a pose as the scene fades out and then back up to the arena, where "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith is making his way down to the ring… -4- The British Bulldog pinned Earl Neidhart of Anvil (w/ Sir William) at 5:03 after connecting with the running powerslam. Bulldog mauled his estranged brother-in-law and never gave Neidhart a chance to fight back, eventually scoring the win after landing his signature hold…*As Neidhart and Sir William scurry off, Lance Russell steps into the to get a word with The British Bulldog. Davey says last week, he once again had the WCW World TV Title in his hands, but Lord Steve Regal found another way to steal a win. Then, this Belfast Bruiser made his first appearance and not attacked Regal, but attacked him as well. As far as he sees it, he now has two people out there who deserve a beating. It doesn't take long for "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay to make his way to the ring, looking as angry as ever. Finlay gets on the microphone and says that he gives Davey some credit because unlike so-called "Lord" Steven Regal, the Bulldog had the guts to show up here tonight after getting his ass handed to him last week. That doesn't change the fact that in his eyes, Bulldog and Regal are one-in-the-same: English pigs. Davey responds by saying if he's so tough, why doesn't he step into the ring with The British Bulldog next week and see how vicious his bite really is. Finlay agrees to the match, saying one of his favorite pastimes is kicking in the head of a pig. Bulldog laughs, adding that they don't have to wait. With that, he tackles Fit Finlay and begins pounding away on The Belfast Bruiser. The two brawl all over the ring, before fight up the aisle. Preliminary wrestlers, WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and security guards arrive and eventually separate the two men after a few minutes. Finlay storms off to the back, shouting that Bulldog has just signed his death warrant… -5- WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair pinned Bunkhouse Buck at 7:22 after coming off the top rope with the flying splash on Buck. Flair busted out the move he used to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title with back at Starrcade '83 and it was successful here tonight against Bunkhouse Buck as well…*Lance Russell steps into the ring to ask Ric Flair about who he believes will win next week's Race for the Gold. Flair will call it like he sees it – every single one of the seven competitors have a good shot to win it all next week because they are the best of the very best. As he continues, there's a buzz as the camera pans around to see Shawn Michaels making his way down the aisles to the front row for the second week in a row. Flair laughs, saying it seems like Michaels likes to make his grand entrances during The Nature Boy's interview. Shawn fakes a chuckle and then sits down in the front row. Flair says maybe Michaels would like to get an up-close look, so he rolls out to the floor and walks towards Michaels. Flair lays in a few taunts, with Michaels giving him a mock round of applause. Several members of security hurry over to get between the two stars, but Michaels remains in his seat. Ric asks if Shawn is a man, or is he a boy like all the other wrestlers from 'that other' federation? Shawn stands up, raises his arms like he wants no trouble, but THEN SPITS RIGHT IN FLAIR'S FACE!!! Flair lunges at Michaels, but Shawn is already racing up the aisle and doesn't stop until he reaches the top of the stairs. As Flair tries to get past the dozen security guards, Shawn Michaels stands at the top of the stairs, raises his arms up in the air, and shouts "Shawn Michels has LEFT the building", before disappearing throw the curtain. At ringside, Ric Flair has a look of disgust etched across his face… COMMERCIAL BREAK*Lance Russell is backstage with Paul Ellering and The Legion of Doom, who are just weeks away from their Scaffold Match at Bash at the Beach '94. Hawk shouts that Norton and Albright better stop worrying about what their boyfriend Mike Rotunda is up to, and start worrying about taking a long fall off a steel platform. You see, the Varsity Club made a mistake accepting this match. They're big, mean and two of the toughest sons of bitches walking god's green earth, but they're also walking into the unknown. See, the Road Warriors have tasted the steel of the scaffold and they personally bounced Jimmy Cornette's head off the ring mat by throwing him down 15 feet. Animal shouts that Norton and Albright have to start wondering to themselves just which one of them is going to take that fall. Which head will crash off the mat, whose blood will be shed? See, him and Hawk – they dine on danger and snack on death – meaning that it's a guarantee that somebody from the Varsity Club will take that fall. Paul Ellering: "Boys, the only question now is… who?" Lance Russell sends us back up to the ring for the preview of next week's Race for the Gold… -6- Mike Rotunda & Terry Funk pinned WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes & Cactus Jack at 12:31 after Rotunda pinned Rhodes with a belly-to-back suplex bridged into a pinning combination. Funk and Cactus never even got into the match, after brawling out on the floor just after the bell rang, they fought all the way to the dressing room leaving Rotunda and Dustin alone to fight this one out. Rhodes seemed to be on the role late in the match, but referee Danny Davis got caught as Rotunda fell backwards and knocked him over. Mere seconds after this occurred, TERRY TAYLOR made his way down to ringside, dressed in an Armani suit and carrying a briefcase. Terry Taylor jumped on the apron and began yelling at Dustin. Rhodes came off and threatened to deck him, but was kneed from behind by Rotunda. Taylor then decked Dustin on the head with the briefcase. This proved too much for Dusty Rhodes, who ran down and began chasing Taylor around the ringside area. In the ring, Rotunda covered an unconscious Dustin as Danny Davis pulled himself to his feet and made the count for the 1-2-3! As soon as the bell rang, Dusty rolled into the ring to check on Dustin, while Terry Taylor pulled Rotunda out to the floor and hurried him to the dressing room…*As Dustin Rhodes shakes off the cobwebs, Lance Russell stepped into the ring to get a word with Dusty and Dustin Rhodes. A hazy Dustin asked what Terry Taylor was doing out here – a question which no one could answer! Dusty says his son had the win in hand, everyone knows that, so obviously Rotunda had to make some kind of pay-off to Taylor. Dustin tells Rotunda he stole a win tonight – and he should be proud of it – but it won't happen again next week if they face off in the Race for the Gold. The Natural promises that he'll have eyes in the back of his head – the eyes of the American Dream – so he tells Rotunda to bring to try something like this next week and see what happens. An angry Dustin storms off, with Dusty following right behind and patting his son on the back. Lance Russell quickly throws us to our final commercial break… COMMCERIAL BREAK*As we come back, Mike Tenay and Michael PS Hayes discussing what exactly just happened with Terry Taylor making his first appearance in WCW in quite some time. They quickly preview last weeks Race for the Gold, where seven top contenders will draw random lots and face off in a gauntlet match. Those competing will be WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Dustin Rhodes, Mike Rotunda, Cactus Jack, Terry Funk, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, "Double J" Jeff Jarrett and Mr. Tutti Frutti. Next week, we will find out just who will challenge WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair at Bash at the Bash '94, which airs live on Pay-Per-View from Miami on June. Besides the Race for the Gold, we'll have The British Bulldog against The Belfast Bruiser in what should be an incredible match. We'll have all that and more next week here on WCW Nitro… Mike Tenay: Fans, we'll see you next week for another exciting edition of the World Championship Wrestling's flagship program WCW Nitro! For Lance Russell, The American Dream and Michael Hayes, this is Mike Tenay saying good night and good luck! (c) 1994, WCW Nitro

WCW Nitro May 27, 1994 The Nashville Arena Nashville, TN Referees: Danny Davis, Mickey Jay, Charles Robinson Your Ring Announcer: Gordon Solie Your Broadcast Team: Mike Tenay, Dusty Rhodes and Michael PS Hayes*The theme music and intro video play and then we go to the arena to kick off WCW Nitro with a fireworks display, which cost more than we pay most of the wrestlers in a year… Fireworks open hour #2*Our three announcers welcome us all to WCW Nitro airing live from Tampa! On this program, we have the Race for the Gold gauntlet match, where the #1 contender to Ric Flair's WCW World Heavyweight Title will be determined. Tonight, seven of the very best professional wrestlers will draw random lots to compete in a series of singles matches, until one man is left standing. Tenay reminds fans that UFC star Ken Shamrock will stand watch outside the ring as a special enforcer. VTR footage shows some of the wrestlers drawing their lots, with some happy and others very upset. Terry Funk, for example, throws a chair across the room, while Mike Rotunda smiles deviously. Aside from the gauntlet, we'll have two other big matches. Col. Robert Parker has returned to WCW and has promised to reveal the first two members of his Studd Stable right here tonight. First, however, we have the match that was announced on last week's telecast as "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay squares off with The British Bulldog in what should be a very heated contest … -1- The British Bulldog defeated "The Belfast Bruiser" Fit Finlay at 7:09 when Lord Steven Regal and Sir William hit the ring to attack both Bulldog on Finlay. This one was a heck of brawl, with neither Davey or Finlay giving way to the other. Regal interfered late in the match, only to be driven out of the ring by a double clothesline from Finlay and Davey. As the Bruiser turned around, Bulldog knocked him out to the floor with the Axe Bomber. The British Bulldog stood tall as both of his enemies angrily looked on from the floor …*VTR: We see footage taken today from outside the Nashville Arena. Thousands of fans are in-line to enter the arena, when a black limousine pulls up in front of the venue. The chauffer gets out and opens the door, only for "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels to step out amid boos from the gathered fans. For the third straight week in a row, Shawn Michaels has come to WCW Nitro – but why? Shawn starts walking towards the arena, but stops when his oversized, Zack Morris-esque 1994 era cellular phone rings. Shawn answers the phone, says "OK, that's fine. Good luck" and then hangs up. Michaels looks straight into the camera, smiling, and says "Not tonight, boys". He then turns around and heads back for his limousine. As he gets to the door, HBK turns around and says, "Shawn Michaels has left the building!" He gets into the car, which drives away moments later as the fans boo. What was that all about? Maybe we'll find out later tonight or maybe we won't. Stay tuned to find out… COMMERCIAL BREAK*As we come back from commercial break, Col. Robert Parker is standing in the middle of the ring with a man we know very well, Bunkhouse Buck. Col. Parker tells the crowd that he's back in WCW because this is where the big boys play. And among the promoters in the world today, there's none bigger than Robert Parker! The boisterous manager announces that he is now officially guiding the career of Bunkhouse Buck, but Buck isn't the only member of his Studd Stable. Col. Parker asks the fans to rise to witness the one true Nature Boy in professional wrestling and the man who will soon hold the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell. The arena goes dark and alone spotlight shows as Landell makes his way down to the ring wearing a gaudy robe. Parker and Buck give Buddy a standing ovation as he enters the ring. Out next are their opponents, Masa Chono and Eddie Gilbert, two of the best professional wrestlers in the sport today… -2- "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell & Bunkhouse Buck (w/ Col. Robert Parker) defeated "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert & Masa Chono at 8:20 after Landell came off the ropes with the corkscrew elbow smash on Chono to score the win. The self-proclaimed Nature Boy looked to be in the best shape of his career as he and Buck turned back the impressive duo of Gilbert and Chono…*Lance Russell is standing by with another tag team, The Varsity Club (Scott Norton & Gary Albright). An agitated Norton says he still hasn't heard a word from Mike Rotunda and wonders if he's even here tonight for the gauntlet. Albright tells Norton not to worry about that, they need to stay focused on their scaffold match with the Legion of Doom at Bash at the Beach '94. Norton says that one's already in the bag – all they had to do is toss one of those "scrawny" Road Warriors off a metal platform and then do the same to the other one for a bit of extra fun. Done and done. Norton tells Albright that they need to go 'look for Mike'. The Varsity Club walk off as Lance Russell sends us to a station break. As we get a view of the parking before going to break, we see a long black limousine pull up into the parking lot – but no-one gets out. Is Shawn Michaels back? We may find out, tonight… COMMERCIAL BREAK*Before the gauntlet begins, Lance Russell is at ringside to interview the man who will act as special enforcer outside the ring, UFC star "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. Shamrock tells Lance that he has no agenda here other thane to make sure that no outside party tries to influence this gauntlet series. He's not looking to have a physical clash with anymore, but Shamrock fairs warning that he will not hesitate to respond to any illegal action with physical force. At this point, the rockabilly piano music hits and out first entrant, MR. TUTTI FRUITT, makes his way to the ring. Michael Hayes remarks that it's very bad luck to be the man first man in a gauntlet match. The masked man's first opponent is out next and it's – oh brother, TERRY FUNK! Hayes: "Tenay, you what I said about it being bad luck to draw #1? When your first opponent is Terry Funk, you have to triple that." Wild and crazy as ever, Funk storms into the ring and immediately begins brawling with Mr. Tutti Frutti to start this off… -3- Race for the Gold, Round 1: Terry Funk pinned Mr. Tutti Frutti at 7:34 after connecting with a piledriver on the masked man. The masked Tutti Frutti put up a good fight and seemed to have a pin in hand after connecting with the right hook, but Funk used every trick in the book to gain an advantage in order to score the win to advance…*Mr. Tutti Frutti put up a valiant effort here, but he just couldn't counteract Terry Funk's willingness to break every single rule in the book. Funk rants and raves after the bell, telling his opponent to get the hell down to the ring. His arrogance turns to pure shock as the next entrant, CACTUS JACK, makes his way down the aisle. Funk tries to escape the match and attempts to hope the rail into the crowd. However, Funk's tights get caught, allowing Cactus Jack to catch with him and drag Terry back into the ring for our next match… -4- Race for the Gold, Round 2: Cactus Jack defeated Terry Funk at 3:21 by disqualifying after Funk blasted Cactus across the forehead with his branding iron. Foley came out like a house on fire, landing his signature Cactus Clothesline out to the floor. Once back in the rang, Funk lost his cool and used his branding iron to incapacitate Cactus, drawing an immediate disqualification. There will be no disqualification, however, when these two men face off in a Texas Death Match on June 12 at Bash at the Beach '94! Funk angrily stormed off after driving the branding iron into Cactus' stomach a few times as we go to a commercial break…COMMERCIAL BREAK*As Cactus Jack is trying to pull himself back up to his feet, we got the dressing room where Lance Russell is standing by the WCW World Tag Team Champions The Can-Am Express (Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat). Furnas tells Lance that he and Dan soundly defeated Eddie Gilbert and Marcus Alexander Bagwell last week just as they promised they would. It was such a resounding defeat that Bagwell ran away to a lesser promotion in order to escape another beating. Furnas is tired of having to face lesser teams so he and Dan are calling for an open challenge. They will come out on next WCW Nitro next week and face whichever team has the guts to take them on – non-title of course! If a team can defeat them in the middle of the ring, Furnas is sure that the WCW brass will grant them a title match. That will never happen, however, because the Can-Am Express are the premiere tag team in this sport and nobody can take them down. As we go back to the arena, our next entrant, "MR. WONDERFUL" PAUL ORNDORFF, strolls down to the ring with a big grin on his face… -5- Race for the Gold, Round 3: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff pinned Cactus Jack at 5:08 after connecting with a powerslam off the ropes. The injured Cactus tried his best to fight back, but he was mauled by Orndorff. However, Cactus continuously kicked out of Mr. Wonderful's pin attempts, but Orndorff's signature powerslam put his opponent down for the count…*As Cactus Jack flops out to the floor and stumbles back to the dressing room, the next entrant is up and it turns out to be… WCW United States Heavyweight Champion "THE NATURAL" DUSTIN RHODES! Rhodes makes his way down to the ringside area looking more focused than ever. Mr. Wonderful is shouting angrily at Rhodes, but Dustin stays cool as he's introduced. The bell is rung and we're off-and-running here in the next gauntlet match… -6- Race for the Gold, Round 4: "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes pinned "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff at 9:34 after catching Mr. Wonderful in a small package pin. Orndorff attacked Rhodes as he entered the ring, trying to put the US Heavyweight Champion away very quickly. Dustin hung on, but was beaten down once against after Mr. Wonderful connected with a running knee lift. As he picked Dustin up for a piledriver, Rhodes scooped him into a small package to score the win out of nowhere. Mr. Wonderful was furious and he immediately laid in a few kicks on Dustin, until Ken Shamrock stepped into the ring and got in Paul's face. Mr. Wonderful mouthed off and went for a right hand, only to get caught in a belly-to-belly suplex by Shamrock! Orndorff ducked out to the floor and angrily stormed to the back as special enforcer Ken Shamrock looked on…*VTR: VTR: We get a look at Dan "The Beast" Severn in the gym working out against several amateur and professional wrestlers. Fans, Dan Severn is a Beast and he will face the dangerous Johnny Ace at Bash At The Beach '94 live on Pay-Per-View… COMMERCIAL BREAK*As we come back from break, country music is playing as "DOUBLE J" JEFF JARRETT makes his way down to the ring as our next competitor. Before the bell ring, Jarrett gets on the microphone and says that he will not win this match, but he's got some extra special motivation to hurt Dustin Rhodes tonight. As he turns around to continue talking, Dustin connects with a dropkick to send Jarrett sprawling out to the floor as the match begins… -7- Race for the Gold, Round 5: Dustin Rhodes pinned "Double J" Jeff Jarrett at 8:34 after landing the running bulldog. Jarrett immediately went to work on the still shaken Rhodes, focusing on Dustin's neck. Jarrett laid in with a series of knees to the neck, even grinding his knee into the neck. Jarrett viciously focused on hurting Rhodes, passing up the chance to pin the US Heavyweight Champion twice for some reason. However, Rhodes rallied back, connecting with a lariat. A Jarrett wobbled around, only to be drawn in to the running bulldog and pinned. Jarrett popped up after the bell looking stunned. He rolled out of the ring and quickly ran to the back, shaking his head in disappointment…*Well, we know that Mike Rotunda must be the last man in to this match, but Tenay sends us backstage where he says a big development is going on. The camera pans to see the limo door open and "The Taylor Made Man" Terry Taylor standing outside the door. Then, Mike Rotunda steps out, not dressed in wrestling attire but in a suit. How's he going to wrestle in that? Next, the man known to wrestling fans as Virgil steps out. Our announcers start to put two-and-two together just as HE steps out of the long black limo… . . . . . . . . "THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASE!!!!!*The Million Dollar Man is dressed in traditional wrestling attire (with a T-shirt) and he's got the official Lot #7 in his hand. What is going on here? The camera follows Dibiase, Virgil, Taylor and Rotunda as they make their way into the arena, while an exhausted Dustin Rhodes tries to figure just what in the world is happening. "For the Love of Money" by The O'Jays hits in the arena as Dibiase and his crew make their way towards the ring. Dibiase steps into the ring, presents Mickey Jay with Rotunda's entry lot and tells him to ring the bell. However, Ken Shamrock steps into the ring and tries to put a stop to this, arguing that Dibiase can't just buy his way in. As confusion reigns, WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel makes his way down to the ring and attempts to figure out the legality of The Million Dollar Man's attempt to enter into this Race for the Gold as we go to commercial break… COMMCERIAL BREAK*As we come back, Nick Bockwinkel is telling Ted Dibiase that he will not be able to compete in this match because he is not an official entrant. A furious Dibiase is shouting back at Bockwinkel, when we see another man make his way to the ringside area dressed in a suit and carrying a stack of papers… . . . . *The man introduces himself as someone Nick Bockwinkel knows well – his name is Bill Alphonso and he represents the Turner Sports Championship Committee. Alphonso asks Bockwinkel to check page 57 of the contract again – it says the entrance lots belong to the wrestlers that pick them and they are free to do with them what they like. So if Mike Rotunda wants to sell his lot to The Million Dollar Man, then it's perfectly within his rights. A skeptical Bockwinkel reads the page and wonders out loud why anyone at Turner Sports or WCW would put such a provision in a contract – it doesn't make sense. A regretful Bockwinkel promises that he will launch a full investigation into this, but unfortunately it looks as if Ted Dibiase has now become a legal participant in this match. Bockwinkel goes to ban Virgil, Taylor and Rotunda from ringside, but Bill Alphonso stops him again and tells Nick that all three men have applied for and received temporary managers licenses. Throughout this whole segment, Dusty Rhodes is complaining about this being a scam. Bockwinkel, however, has no choice but to the ring the bell as Dibiase begins attacking the tired Dustin Rhodes… -8- "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase (w/ Virgil, "The Taylor Made Man" Terry Taylor and Mike Rotunda) defeated Dustin Rhodes at 10:34 after Dusty Rhodes threw in the towel for his son. The furious Rhodes really fought with all his might, trying to overcome this obvious injustice. When Rotunda and Taylor tried to interfere on two occasions, Shamrock got right in their face. Taylor gave Shamrock a shove, causing Ken to deck him with a palm strike. Rotunda backed off, helping the groggy Taylor back to his feet. In the ring, Rhodes was rallying and came off the ropes for a lariat, only to receive a knee to the gut by Dibiase. Ted hooked in his Million Dollar Dream submission! Dustin flailed and fought, only reaching the ropes after a severe struggle. He swung back around with a right hand, which Dibiase ducked to once again apply the Million Dollar Dream. Dustin continued to struggle and refused to submit, but he slowly began to fade. Dusty Rhodes couldn't risk seeing his son seriously injured so he came down to the ring and throw in the towel. Dusty then got in Dibiase's face as The Million Dollar Man gloated over pulling off the scam of the century. The Dream resisted the urge to fight, in stead going over to tend to his fallen son…*As The Million Dollar Man and his crew celebrate in the ring, a disgusted Ken Shamrock and Dusty Rhodes help Dustin out of the ring. Meanwhile, Mike Tenay and Michaels PS Hayes cannot believe what they have just scene. After a moment, "Also Strach Zarathustra" begins playing and out walks the WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair makes his way down to the ringside area and stands in the aisleway, looking on as The Million Dollar Man shouts that he will take the WCW World Heavyweight Title at Bash at the Beach '94 in Miami. Flair looks deadly serious as we can hear him see, "We'll just see about that." Hayes and Tenay hype that this will be the first time that Flair and Dibiase have ever wrestled against each one-on-one (of course a lie, but it's hype!) and it will be live on pay-per-view from Miami. Tenay promises to have an update on Nick Bockwinkel's investigation and more on just WHO this Bill Alphonso is next week here live on WCW Nitro… Mike Tenay: Fans, we'll see you next week for another exciting edition of the World Championship Wrestling's flagship program WCW Nitro! For Lance Russell, The American Dream and Michael Hayes, this is Mike Tenay saying good night and good luck! (c) 1994, WCW Nitro
