-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. They show footage from the Mid South Coliseum last Monday, as Jake “The Snake” Roberts once again pulled one over on Jerry “The King” Lawler by posing as the Masked Mercenary and using a DDT on Lawler, which delivered Bill Dundee a win in the CWA Heavyweight Title match. Lance Russell steps in front of the desk and asks Dundee to make his way out to the studio. A tense “Superstar” Bill Dundee makes his way out, with the title slung over his shoulder. Russell tells Dundee that last Monday’s result didn’t help Bill’s case, in terms of convincing The King that he is not in cahoots with Jake Roberts. Dundee is clearly annoyed and tells Russell that he is a little bit tired of being questioned by his so-called friends around here. Bill is telling Lance, Lawler and everyone watching – he has nothing to do with Jake Roberts and this is yet another attempt by The Snake to play mind games.
Jerry “The King” Lawler makes his way out, but Lance Russell says he doesn’t want any trouble in the studio. Lawler assures Lance that he is not here for any trouble – he just wants Dundee to look him in the eye while lying. As far as The King is concerned, a leopard never changes its spots and he should have known better than to trust Dundee again. Bill Dundee tells The King that he can think whatever he wants because quite frequently being Jerry Lawler’s friend is all risk, no reward. Lawler laughs and says that it’s probably true because as soon as Dundee stabbed him in the back, he ended up as the CWA Heavyweight Champion thanks to his buddy Jake Roberts. Lawler says as far as he is concerned, he wants Dundee in the ring and he wants Jake Roberts in the ring. He is asking Eddie Marlin to make his way out here now because he has some demands.
A frazzled Eddie Marlin is out now and says he doesn’t have time for this today because he has a big potential investor backstage. Marlin tells Lawler that he has tried to make peace between these two, and it’s clearly not going to happen. Lawler replies to Eddie Marlin that it’s not his job to make peace, so all he wants from Eddie is to reinstate Jake “The Snake” Roberts and give The King a 2-on-1 match with Roberts and Dundee this Monday night! Bill Dundee doesn’t like the sound of this at all and tells Lawler that this whole thing with Jake Roberts has him paranoid, but Marlin tells them both that he gives up. The match is signed for this Monday and Jake Roberts can be reinstated as long as he pays a $5,000 fine for attacking Randy Hales. However, if Roberts evey touches a CWA official again, Marlin will petition the NWA to have The Snake banned for life from the entire league! Dundee tries to tell Marlin that he doesn’t want to team with The Snake, but Lawler orders him to can it and says that this way, at least he can keep his eyes on both of them! Lawler walks off as a frazzled Bill Dundee shakes his head in disgust.
1) Southern Tag Team Champions Sweet Sensation: Stan Lane & Shawn Michaels defeated The Infernos: Fire & Flame at 6:01 when Lane connected with the super kick on Flame (?) to score the pin.
“Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner are out after the match, and Gilbert tells Dave Brown that soon enough himself and the Dog-Faced Gremlin will take back their title belts. Eddie then changes gears and wants to know who “Macho Man” Randy Savage thinks he is? Why does Randy Savage get to waltz back in here to CWA with all this fanfare because he has some new floozy on his arm, while Gilbert has been here all along beating everyone that CWA has put in his way? Eddie Gilbert reminds Dave Brown that himself and Rick Steiner are the men who ran the Rock n’ Roll Express out of Memphis.
And today, right here on CWA Championship Wrestling, Eddie Gilbert will prove that he is always one step ahead of dopes like Randy Savage and his goofy brother Lanny Poffo. Dave Brown asks just what Eddie Gilbert is talking about, but Gilbert laughs and simply says that Dave can just sit back and wait because later today, Savage will get what's coming to him when steps into the ring with Eddie’s “dear old dad” Tommy Gilbert. And then this Monday night, Eddie and his partner Rick Steiner will finish off Savage and Poffo once and for all.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage, Miss Elizabeth and “Leaping” Lanny Poffo are with Lance Russell at ringside as we come back room break. “Freak out, freak out,” Savage bellows as Lance welcomes us back to Championship Wrestling ’85. Lance asks if Savage heard the threats from “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert before the commercial break. Savage tells Lance that Eddie has a big mouth, but the “Macho Man” proved last week that Eddie has trouble getting the jon done when the bell rings. And now Eddie is sending his dad to take care of the "Macho Man" here on Championship Wrestling ’85? Randy Savage promises that right here today, he’ll finish off the whole Gilbert family if he gets the chance, and he knows that his brother Lanny feels the same way. “Ooooh yeah,” Lanny replies with a laugh, as the “Macho Man” throws some confetti in the air and Miss Elizabeth smiles.
2) Terry Taylor pinned Charlie Cook at 4:34 with a flying forearm smash that Taylor refers to as the Five Arm.
Dave Brown welcomes former Southern Heavyweight Champion Terry Taylor back to CWA after the match. Taylor thanks Dave and says that he is very happy to be back in the area. He’s spent some time in Mid-South Wrestling where he held championship gold, and more recently was in Florida. However, all over the country, people are talking about Memphis Wrestling so Terry knew it was time to come back to Memphis. Terry Taylor tells Dave Brown that he is looking forward to working his way back the up the ladder so that he can to win back that Southern Heavyweight Title.
Terry Taylor has heard that One Man Gang will defend the belt against Dutch Mantell this Monday night in a match where there must be a winner – he is excited to watch that match and work his way into contention to face the winner. Brown shakes hands with Taylor and then sends us to commercial. We go to VTR footage of Terry Taylor beating Jacques Rougeau for the Southern Heavyweight Title back in 1982 at the Mid South Coliseum.

Dutch Mantell is at the desk with Lance Russell to discuss his title rematch against the One Man Gang in a match where there must be a winner this Monday night. Lance shows footage of Mantell’s tremendous feat of strength when he back-dropped One Man Gang on the concrete floor last week. Dutch narrates over the footage and admits that the move weakened his back quite a bit. However, it also showed him that he can beat the One Man Gang and that’s why he asked that a rematch be signed where there must a winner. Mantell says he is bringing Shoo Baby this Monday night because he knows that the Southern Heavyweight Champion has henchmen like the Masked Superstar and The Snake to do his dirty work for him.
The Dutchman explains that this feud between himself and the One Man Gang has gone on for quite a while now – too long. There needs to be a winner one way or another, and this Monday the people will find out just who the better man really is. They don’t call Dutch Mantell the “Dirty Dutchman” for nothing, and this Monday night he has no problem pulling out some dirty tricks since he knows that One Man Gang will do the same thing. For five months, every opponent in the way of the One Man Gang has fallen. This Monday, finally, it will be One Man Gang who finds himself going down for the count!
3) Dutch Mantell pinned Roy Lee Welch at 3:45 when he connected with the hangman’s neck-breaker on Welch.
The Masked Superstar leads Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang out after the match, and they have a brief stand-off with Dutch Mantell. One Man Gang shouts at The Dutchman, but then moves over towards the desk. One Man Gang does some talking for himself this week as he says that Mantell should be real proud of back-dropping him last Monday night, but the big man is still standing here as the Southern Heavyweight Champion. This Monday night, Dutch Mantell will end up just like Bill Dundee, Tommy Rich and Austin Idol – being pinned right in the center of the ring by the most dominant Southern Champion of all time.
Masked Superstar then tells Dave Brown that he has a surprise guest waiting on the phone line, and Brown picks up the line. The voice of Jake “The Snake” Roberts is patched into the studio, eliciting boos. Dave Brown bombards Jake with questions about his recent antics, but all Jake says over and over is that he is delighted to be teaming up with Bill Dundee this Monday night. He finally adds that The King’s own stubbornness will be his undoing – and Lawler's downfall all starts again this Monday night. Jake then hangs up the phone an as Dave Brown asks Masked Superstar to elaborate, the masked man simply says that he has no comment and walks off with the One Man Gang.

Tommy Rich and Jimmy Valiant are shaking hands with the fans around ringside as we come back, and Valiant comes around to the desk to give Dave Brown a big smooch. “Have meeeeeeercy baby,” Valiant shouts as Tommy tells Dave Brown that he and “Handsome” Jimmy are all faaaarrrred up. Just as soon as he ran Rick Rude out of Memphis, Jimmy Hart brings in Koko B. Ware and Norvell Austin to cause all sorts of trouble. Last week, the PYT Express got a big win, and Rich admits that he and Jimmy Valiant underestimated the PYTs. They might have been riding a bit too high following the cage match which sent Rick Rude on the first plane to Florida.
Jimmy Valiant shouts that it’s never easy to “exterminate a dirty stinkin’ weasel” like Jimmy Hart, but nobody is more fit for that job than himself and Wildfire. Now, Koko B. Ware and Norvell Austin think they’re hot stuff? Well, that’s fine because Valiant has never been a “hip daddy”. He comes from the street and the men and women out there on the streets of Memphis are his people. “I don’t need no fancy sunglasses or big ol’ ghetto blasters, Davey Boy Brown,” Valiant declares, before saying that his two fists are all he needs to take out the PYT Express.
4) ”Macho Man” Randy Savage (w/ Miss Elizabeth and Lanny Poffo) defeated Tommy Gilbert (w/ Rick Steiner) at 8:11 when “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert interfered in the match. TED DIBIASE!!!!!!!
Lance Russell and Dave Brown seem surprised to see Ted Dibiase, but they welcome him here to Championship Wrestling ’85. Dibiase tells the announcers that he is excited to be here, although he didn’t like what he just saw in that last match. Russell asks exactly why exactly Dibiase is here this morning. Dibiase smiles and says it’s a very good question – and now he can finally talk about it. Ted mentions that a year ago his mother Helen Hild – a great wrestling star in her day – passed away. Lance and Dave give their condolences, and Ted thanks them. Dibiase talks about a lot of wrestlers struggling once they walk away from the sport, but his mother was able to avoid that. She took the money that she earned in wrestling and invested them in casinos in Reno, Nevada. Needless to say, she lived very comfortably in her final years.
When she died, all of her money was left to her son Ted. Dibiase tells Lance that he learned something from his mother and invested that money last year in some very promising industries. Ted doesn’t like to brag, but he has done very, very well and he is always looking for a new business opportunity. Ted Dibiase sees CWA as a great potential business investment! Lance and Dave then ask Ted Dibiase if he is the potential investor that Eddie Marlin has been meeting with. Dibiase smiles and says it’s probably fine to answer that since the negotiations have been going well – yes, he IS interested in investing in CWA!
Lance Russell is intrigued, but does mention that he sees a potential conflict of a wrestler owning part of a territory when he is still active. Dibiase replies that he is sensitive to that perception and that’s why he is taking some time away from the ring to focus on business matters right now. The proceedings are broken up by Eddie Marlin, who says it’s probably premature to be talking about his publicly right now. He’d like to invite Mr. Dibiase back to his office so they can discuss this all privately. Dibiase laughs and jokes that Marlin really is a stickler – he likes that! Dibiase and Marlin walk off, as Lance Russell and Dave Brown discuss the prospect of Ted Dibiase potentially investing in CWA!
