Wild West Wrestling
Saturday, April 26th, 1985
Convention Center, Santa Fe, NM
*non-televised house show
1) Billy Anderson & Scott McGhee defeated Jerry Oske & Johnny Wilhoit at 10:12 when McGhee pinned Wilhoit with a German suplex and a bridge. This was generally a scientific match, but Oske and Wilhoit weren't above 'bending the rules' in an attempt to pick up a victory.
2)'Wildman' Jack Armstrong pinned George Wells at 8:51 following a big running knee lift. The rivalry between these two men continued with another heated contest that saw both men give their all. Ultimately, Armstrong was able to pick up the victory here tonight by hitting the knee lift on Wells as he stuck his head between the ropes as he tried to get back into the ring.
3)Wild West Heavyweight Champion Jacques Rougeau pinned 'Cowboy' Scott Casey with a running cross body block at 15:16 to retain the title. Both men fought clean and hard, with the exception of a few closed fists, and this one appeared as though it could have went either way throughout most of the contest. Both men were able to avoid their opponent's signature move and the end came when both men collided in mid-air after crisscrossing in the ring with Jacques being lucky enough to fall on top for the cover as both men had the same idea and ended up knocking the wind out of one another. (Jacques' 6th Title Defense)
INTERMISSION
4) Magnum Force: Dave Peterson & Scott Hall & The Breakdancers: Brickhouse Brown & 'Stylin' Mark Ragin defeated Rene Goulet, Duke Myers & The Interns #1 & #2 (w/Tux Newman) at 14:10 when Peterson pinned Goulet following a double flying shoulder block by both Force members on Goulet. This rematch was, once again, another wild affair with the referee really not being able to control the match at times.
5)Harley Race battled Jos LeDuc to a double disqualification at 8:55 when both men repeatedly shoved the referee down as he attempted to separate them. Multiple officials, referees and even other wrestlers had to be called in to separate both men.
6) Davey Boy Smith pinned Bret Hart at 25:09 following the running power slam. Both men fought 'tooth and nail' in this one and got a little bit rougher with each other than in prior matches. There were still a lot of wrestling maneuvers in the contest but there really wasn't a lot of 'flow' to the contest as both men decided to use fists pretty liberally. Smith got busted open on the outside of the ring at around the midway point and this allowed Hart to gain several near falls. Hart attempted to go to the top rope, but took too much time and allowed Davey to snatch him off the top rope right into the standing vertical suplex. The end came when both men went into a series of standing reversals. Eventually, Smith attempted to run Hart into the corner, but Bret counter by trying to leap backwards over Davey by springing off of the corner ropes and turnbuckles. Davey Boy was ready for the counter and reacted by catching Bret over his shoulder and immediately turning it into a running powerslam to set up the victory.
