4) Southern Tag Team Champions Hotstuff International: Eddie Gilbert & Rick Steiner defeated The Nightmares: Danny Davis & Ken Wayne at 20:45 in an elimination-style title match. The first elimination was Eddie Gilbert being rolled up by Danny Davis. Rick Steiner then rallied and first pinned Ken Wayne with a brutal running clothesline. Steiner eliminated Danny Davis next with a flying bulldog off the second rope.

5) Bill Dundee pinned CWA Heavyweight Champion Jerry “The King” Lawler at 19:02 to become the brand new champion. Lawler and Dundee had one of their great brawls, which resulted in referee Jerry Calhoun accidentally being knocked down. Dundee and Lawler both hesitated, but then continued with the fight. Dundee suplexed The King and went for the Bomb’s Away, but missed. Lawler gathered himself and then pulled down the strap, but suddenly there was a commotion as Jake “The Snake” Roberts came through the crowd and hopped the rail. He dove into the right and clipped Lawler’s knee, spun him around and laid him out with the DDT! The Snake then dove out of the ring, shoved Jerry Calhoun to wake him up and then took off back through the crowd. Dundee seemingly saw none of this and draped his arm over Lawler as a groggy Jerry Calhoun made the three count! Jake Roberts has cost The King the title just one week after he won it, and has spoiled another big night for The King despite being fired last weekend! Dundee celebrated after the match, until Eddie Marlin and an injured Jerry Lawler confronted him with what happened. Dundee appeared to be confused, but said the title was rightfully his and left the ring!
6) In a Last Man Standing Match, Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang defeated Austin Idol at 15:11 when Idol could not answer the ten count. Idol took the fight to One Man Gang with a big body-slam, followed by a running clothesline. Idol then grabbed the belt and walloped One Man Gang with it, but only scored a two count. One Man Gang rallied and blocked a cross-body block into a power-slam. One Man Gang hit the 747 and waited for the count, but shockingly Idol made his way back up to his feet at the count of eight. One Man Gang then drilled Idol with a clothesline and a second 747, and this time Idol could not beat the count.
*The Masked Superstar was out after the match and he encouraged One Man Gang to go for a third 747 splash, but the crowd erupted as Dutch Mantell returned to the Mid South Coliseum. Mantell had Shoo Baby and cracked both One Man Gang and the Masked Superstar with it. Idol and Mantell then ran both members of the Triangle out of the ring. Austin then grabbed the microphone and wished his friend Dutch the best of luck and said it was Dutch’s time to bring home the gold! Idol and Mantell shook hands, before Austin ducked out of the ring to allow Dutch to soak in applause.
7) In a Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match, Tommy Rich defeated Rick Rude (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba) at 19:11 when Rich connected with a Lou Thesz Press to score the pin-fall. Both men drew blood, and Rich’s blonde hair was red by the end of the contest. Rude connected with a Rude Awakening neck-breaker and seemed to have the win, but Rich was able to kick out. Big Bubba then grabbed a steel chair and threw it over the top of the cage to Rude. Ravishing Rick retrieved the chair, but Rich drilled him with a low blow. Rich then drilled Rude right across the forehead with the chair and perched until Rude was able to get to his feet. Rich then came off the ropes with the Thesz Press to score the win! Rick Rude has to leave Memphis and seeing that his meal ticket is on his way out, Jimmy Hart leads Big Bubba Rogers away from ringside as Rich celebrates a huge win.
