WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING JANUARY 4, 1985 Tony and David run down the show, today’s main event will see Dick Slater challenge Tully Blanchard for the Television Title, they bring Dick Slater in, Slater says that he has been the Television Champion twice before, and will become a three time Champion here today. Tony brings up that where ever Tully is, his Awesome Twosome partner Wahoo McDaniel isn’t too far behind. Slater says he used to have respect for Wahoo, but know all he seems to do is Tully’s dirty work, Slater says that Wahoo is more of a man than Tully is, and that was evident at Starrcade when Wahoo shook Ricky Steamboat’s hand after the Indian Strap Match, but Wahoo is disgracing himself by being Tully’s lackey. NWA World Tag Team Champions The Koloffs & Don Kernodle defeated Keith Larsen, Nelson Royal and Kendell Windham when Nikita pinned Windham after a Russian Sickle, The Koloffs refused to tag Don Kerndole into the match Tony interviewed The Koloffs and Don Kernodle after the match, Kernodle was very upset but Ivan refused to let him talk and told Tony to only talk to him or Nikita that Kernodle has to learn how to be a superior athlete like The Russians and that he will carry the Russian Flag from now on and stand at ringside and watch Ivan and Nikita as they wrestle to learn what it takes to be a superior athlete. Tony breaks the news that on January 31, in the Charlotte Coliseum, The Koloffs will put the titles on the line against the Youngbloods in a Starrcade rematch. Ivan says that now he and Nikita are teaming there is no what the Youngbloods can win the World Tag Team Titles back. “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant defeats Joel Deaton with a Boogie Woogie Elbow David interviews Valiant who is oh so happy that Paul Jones is now a bald headed geek, Jones shows up on the interview stage wearing a cowboy hat and carrying a contract, Jones slams the contract down on the desk and demands Valiant sign it, Jones says it’s for a match January 31 between he and Valiant, A COFFIN MATCH!!! Jones says the only way to win is to put your opponent in the coffin and slam the lid shut, there are no rules, anything goes, and Jones says he will make Valiant go away forever after he seals him in the coffin. Valiant asks for a pen and Jones throws it at him. Valiant signs the contract but when he looks back up at Jones he gets clocked by Jones and a pair of brass knuckles!!! Valiant is out cold on the floor and Jones snatches the contract and storms off to the back!!! Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeats Bill White with a cross body off the top rope. Steamboat joins Tony and we are informed that on January 31, Steamboat will get his shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. Steamboat says he and Flair are good friends, and that they both came out victorious at Starrcade against their Awesome Twosome opponents, Steamboat says that he and Flair are athletes and have only one goal, to prove they are the best, Steamboat says that this will in no way affect their friendship. Hector Guerrero makes his NWA debut defeating Gary Royal via Submission with a surfboard. David interviews the Awesome Twosome, Wahoo McDaniels and NWA Television Champion Tully Blanchard. Blanchard says that he is not done with Flair yet, and makes it known that whomever comes out of Charlotte will still have to contend with him. Tully makes a snide comment about Wahoo McDaniels shaking the hand of Ricky Steamboat after the Indian Strap Match at Starrcade, Wahoo takes offense to that. Wahoo says Steamboat beat him, and Wahoo has always said if a man can beat him in that ring, then he earns Wahoo’s respect. Wahoo says he still doesn’t like Steamboat, but he respects his skills in the ring. David then brings up that Tully will be defending the TV Title here in a few moments against Dick Slater, Tully says that Slater doesn’t stand a chance against him and he’ll prove once again why he is the top wrestler in the world, Wahoo has to comment on the things Dick Slater said about him, Wahoo says he is no one’s lackey, he and Tully are business associates, equals, Tully knows it, Wahoo knows it, they are just like any business partnership in which the partners watch out for one another. Wahoo says that Slater needs to watch his mouth or else he’ll find himself facing off against Wahoo in the ring, and Wahoo will make Slater respect him. Johnny Weaver defeats Gene Ligon with the Weaver Lock “Macho Man” Randy Savage joins Tony, Tony notes that Frank Dusek is not with “The Macho Man”, Savage says that Dusek has been relieved of his duties after he cost Savage the United States Title at Starrcade, Savage says The Bull knows it, the world knows it, if it wasn’t for Dusek, Savage would be standing in front of us know as the United States Champion. Savage says he wants The Bull again, on January 31st, if the Bull’s got the guts to stare the Madness in the eyes again. “Dirty” Dick Slater defeats Television Champion Tully Blanchard via disqualification when Wahoo McDaniels pulls Slater out of the ring and starts brawling with him on the arena floor. Tully back jumps Slater and the Awesome Twosome rolls him into the ring, Blanchard and Wahoo beat Slater down and are about to give him a spike piledriver when jobbers and undercard wrestlers run out to make the save. Wahoo and Tully go to the announce table as the show winds down, Tully is laughing, Wahoo asks if Slater respects him now?

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING JANUARY 11, 1985 Tony and David open the show and bring out Jay Youngblood, Jay has some bad news, his brother Mark will not be able to compete at Super Saturday. Jay says that the NWA has informed him that this match cannot be postponed and if they do not compete for the Titles in Charlotte they will not get another shot at the titles. Jay says he has pleaded his case to the men in charge and they have come up with a compromise. For one night only, Jay can pick any one wrestler to be in partner and replace Mark in the match, then when Mark is ready to step back in the ring he’ll take his spot as ½ of the Tag Team Champions. Tony asks Jay if he has picked a partner, Jay says he has not but he has a couple of people in mind and plans to talk to them and hopefully make an announcement soon. Hector Guerrero defeats Doug Vines with a Gory Special David talks to “Dirty” Dick Slater about what happened here last week between he and The Awesome Twosome. Slater says it was no surprise, and that Wahoo once again showed his true colors, he’s nothing but Tully’s DOG!!! Slater says Tully tells Wahoo who to go after and like a good attack dog Wahoo does it, Slater says Wahoo’s gone rabid, and it looks like Slater is going to have to take Wahoo out behind the wood shed, just like they did Old Yeller, and put the rabid dog down!!! United States Champion “The Ragin Bull” Manny Fernandez defeats Ben Alexander with a Flying Forearm. The Bull joins David and says he heard Savage out here last week, and says if Savage wants him in Charlotte, then The Bull will give him what he wants daddy. The Bull says he is ready to look into the eyes of Madness again, but is Savage ready to GET THE HORNS? NWA World Champion “Nature Boy” Ric Flair and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeated Gerald Finley and Marvin Turner when Flair forces Turner to submit to the Figure Four Leglock. Steamboat and Flair join Tony to talk about their match with one another in Charlotte. Flair says it will be an honor to face Steamboat in the ring because he knows when he is facing Steamboat is facing one of the greatest wrestlers to ever step foot in the squared circle and the only way to prove that you are the best is to beat the best. Steamboat says he feels much the same and says that in Charlotte they will put friendship aside during the match and says he is looking forward to testing himself against the Nature Boy. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin w/Precious defeats Mike Fever with the Brainbuster. David refuses to be anywhere near Jimmy Garvin so he leaves and let’s Tony do the interview. Garvin makes fun of David for being so upset about what Garvin did to Sam Houston at Starrcade, Garvin says it’s not his fault, it’s Sam Houston’s fault, he gave Houston plenty of chances to get out of the match, it’s David’s brother’s fault for putting him in a match with Sam Houston and not in a match for a title, Garvin says he did what he did to get everyone’s attention, and he thinks he got it now. Garvin then says that the interview with Flair and Steamboat made him physically sick to his stomach, he says that Steamboat shouldn’t be wrestling Flair for the title, HE should be. Garvin says that Flair can’t duck him forever, and if he keeps doing so then Garvin will have to do something to get FLAIR’S attention… NWA World Tag Team Champions The Koloffs w/ Don Kerndole (carrying the Russian Flag) defeat Italian Stallion and Keith Larsen when Nikita pins Larsen after a Russian Sickle The Koloffs and Kerndole then join David, Ivan says that the announcement at the top of the show just proves the prejudice and the bias that the Koloffs as superior Russian Athletes have to deal with. Ivan says if he or Nikita were injured, they would not get to pick a new partner for one night, they would have to wrestle in a handicapped match, this is just another American trick to try and take the titles away from the Koloffs, but it will not work. Ivan tells Jay Youngblood to go get any partner he wants, any partner, and the Koloffs will defeat them. Kerndole stands behind the Koloffs with the Russian flag, but does not look happy at all. David tries to talk to Kerndole but Ivan will not let him, saying Kerndole has not earned the right to talk to anyone yet. Wahoo McDaniels joins Tony and David unexpectedly at the broadcast table before heading to the ring for the main event, Wahoo says that he heard Dick Slater say he was going to take him behind the woodshed and put him out of his misery, Wahoo says the only person that is going to be put out of their misery is Slater!!! Wahoo says that he isn’t one to make idle threats, nor is he one to sit around while he is threatened by someone else. Wahoo says he didn’t attack Slater last week because Tully told him to, he attacked Slater last week because Slater’s mouth wrote a check Slater’s body couldn’t cash!!! Wahoo McDaniels defeats “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant with a belly to back suplex after Valiant is distracted by Paul Jones who was providing commentary at the broadcast table. Jones tries to attack Valiant after the match, he puts the boots to the Boogie Man, but Valiant fights to his feet and Jones takes a powder before he gets his head handed to him by Valiant!!! Tony and David close the show and tells us to come back next week!!!

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING JANUARY 18, 1985 Tony and David open the show, they run down what we will see today, including a tag team match in the main event, where Dick Slater and Jimmy Valiant will team up to face The Awesome Twosome!!!! They then bring out the Awesome Twosome, WHO HAVE PAUL JONES WITH THEM!?!? David wants to know why Jones is with the Awesome Twosome and Jones says it’s none of David’s business but he will tell them anyway, for one night only they have joined forces to take out Dick Slater and Jimmy Valiant. Wahoo says he and Jones go way back, so when Jones came to them and offered his services for today’s match, Wahoo knew that he and Tully couldn’t turn Jones down, Wahoo says tonight not only will they get a little payback on Valiant and Slater for Jones, Wahoo is going to show Slater who the real dog is. Tully says that Paul Jones is class, just like the Awesome Twosome and today on this program, Class is going to show you what happens when Trash like Valiant and Slater get in their way! Hector Guerrero defeats David Deaton with the Gory Special “Macho Man” Randy Savage joins Tony at the Broadcast Table, and has with him a towel. Tony asks what that is for and Savage says for Tony to give it to The Ragin Bull next time he sees him, it’s crying towel and The Bull will be doing a whole lot of crying in Charlotte after Savage takes the United States title from him, ooooh yeeeeah!!!! NWA World Tag Team Champions The Koloffs with Flag Bearer Don Kerndole defeat Ron Rossi and Josh Stroud when Nikita pins Stroud after a Russian Sickle. The Koloffs and Kerndole join the broadcast table, Ivan says that they have heard nothing about who Jay Youngblood is picking as his partner, they have heard rumors, but it doesn’t matter, whomever he picks will fall before the might of the superior Russian Athletes. David says that Jay’s partner could be anyone, it could even be Don Kernodle!! Kernodle gets a shocked look on his face, Ivan gets mad at David for trying to start something between the Koloffs and their comrade. Ivan says if Jay picked Don Kerndole it would be the dumbest thing he ever did, because Kerndole is on the side of the Russians because Kernodle knows that Russians are superior in every way to Americans, that comment gets a dirty look from Kernodle as the Koloffs walk off. Johnny Weaver defeats The Shadow with a Weaver Lock! “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant and “Dirty” Dick Slater join Tony, they are not surprised that Paul Jones is sticking his nose into their match later tonight. Valiant says the Paul Jones is a bald headed geek and next he’s gonna find himself in a Coffin getting wheeled out of Charlotte!!!!! Slater says tonight, he and Valiant get some payback on Tully Blanchard and his attack dog. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeats Tony Russo with a chop off the top rope! Steamboat joins Tony to talk about his match with Ric Flair in Charlotte for the World Heavyweight Championship, Steamboat says this time last year he was retiring from wrestling to run his gym because he felt he would never get a chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship, and now he is getting it. Steamboat says Flair is the consummate professional, and perhaps the greatest wrestler to ever compete. Steamboat says it will be an honor and a privilege to face Flair for the World Title. Before Tony can ask Steamboat any more questions, they are interrupted by JAY YOUNGBLOOD?!?!? Jay apologizes for interrupting things, Jay claimed Ricky owed him one, that they were the Tag Team Champions last year, after defeating the Brisco Brothers to regain the belts, when Ricky decided to hang up the tights and forfeit the titles because he did not feel he was getting respected as a singles competitor and would never be granted a true shot at the NWA Title. Jay says he never blamed Ricky for that, he understood and he has tried to stay out of Ricky’s way as Ricky tries to become the World Champion, but right now Jay is asking Ricky for a big favor. At Starrcade 84, the Youngblood Brothers lost the NWA World Tag Team Championship to the Russian team of Ivan and Nikita Koloff, and in the process Mark was injured. Mark and Jay were supposed to receive their one and only rematch in Charlotte, but with Mark incapacitated it looked as if they would have to forfeit their shot and their only chance at regaining the title. NWA Matchmaker Sandy Scott ruled that the NWA had agreed to allow a one night substitution for the match, Jay could pick anyone in the NWA to be his partner and take on the Russians, and IF they were successful when Mark was cleared to wrestle he would take over as ½ of the World Tag Team Champions, and Jay wants Ricky to forgo his shot at the World Title in Charlotte, and team with Jay ONE MORE TIME . Jay said he knew he was asking allot of Ricky, but he needed him, there was no way they could let the Russians keep the World Tag Team Titles and Jay said Ricky knew deep down no team was ever any better than Steamboat and Youngblood. Ricky asked for time to think about it and Jay agreed to give him a week, but said he was really counting on Steamboat and for their friendship, for Mark, and for the United States of America, he hopes that Steamboat will be his partner one more time. NWA Television Champion Tully Blanchard and Wahoo McDaniels with Paul Jones defeats “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant and “Dirty” Dick Slater when Tully pins Valiant with a Slingshot Suplex after Paul Jones interferes and bashes Valiant in the back with the Television Title, the referee was distracted by a brawl between Wahoo and Slater! Tony and David close the show and invite us back next week to find out what Ricky Steamboat’s answer is going to be!!!

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING JANUARY 25, 1985 Tony and David open the show, today Ricky Steamboat will give Jay Youngblood his answer if he will be his partner, also here today Johnny Weaver battles “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin!! Weaver joins Tony and David, he says he helped train Sam Houston, rode with him, worked with him and is ready to get a little payback on Jimmy Garvin for what he did to Houston at Starrcade! Dick Slater defeats Tony Russo with a belly to back suplex! Slater joins Tony, he says last week Paul Jones got involved and cost him and the Boogie Man their match with the Awesome Twosome, but Slater isn’t done with Wahoo, Slater wants him one on one in Charlotte!!! Slater says that Wahoo keeps saying he isn’t a dog, he doesn’t do other people’s dirty work, fine, PROVE IT!! Stand up like a MAN and face him in Charlotte! United States Champion Manny Fernandez defeats Jim Jeffers with a knee off the middle rope. Fernandez joins Tony who hands him the towel that Randy Savage gave Tony for Manny last week. The Bull says that the only person that is going to be crying in Charlotte is Randy Savage’s mother when she sees what The Bull is going to do to Savage!!! Fernandez says he is going to take this towel and SHOVE IT DOWN SAVAGE’S THROAT!!! Hector Guerrero defeats Bob Wayne with a Flying Splash off the top rope. Tony and David are then joined by the NWA World Tag Team Champions The Koloffs and Don Kerndole. Ivan urges Ricky Steamboat to turn Jay Youngblood down, to keep his title match with Ric Flair and not face the Koloffs in Charlotte, because if he does they will end his career!!! Jay Youngblood defeats Gary Royal with an Indian Deathlock by submission Jay joins Tony and David to talk about what happened last week with Ricky Steamboat. Jay says he has not heard back from Ricky, but he is hoping that The Dragon will say yes. Just then, Steamboat in street clothes come walking out to the set. Steamboat says he has thought long and hard about what to do, he says it is his dream, and the dream of every professional wrestler to become the World Heavyweight Champion. But Steamboat says it is the hope of every man to be a man of his word, to be a man of dignity and honor, and after thinking things over, Steamboat agrees that he does owe Jay, last year when he retired he left Jay out to dry and that wasn’t right. He says Jay never complained, and supported him 100% and Steamboat says now it is his turn to repay the favor. Steamboat says he has spoken with Crockett Promotions, Jim Crockett and Sandy Scott and have informed everyone involved that he is pulling out of the NWA World Title match in Charlotte and instead will team with Jay to face The Koloffs for the World Tag Team Titles!!!!!! Jay was incredibly happy at Ricky’s decision and promised to stand by him and help him get another shot at the World Title. Ricky and Jay left together and David gushed that the greatest tag team of all time has reunited and are coming for the Russians!!! Awesome Twosome defeat Gene Ligon and Keith Larsen when Tully pins Ligon after a Slingshot Suplex! The Awesome Twosome, Wahoo McDaniels and Tully Blanchard, then join Tony. Wahoo accepts Dick Slater’s challenge for this Friday in Charlotte, Tully says that now that Steamboat will no longer be facing Flair in Charlotte, he believes he should be given that title shot, but Tony informs him that they were informed before the program began that Tully would be defending the Television Title in Charlotte against Hector Guerrero!! “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin w/Precious defeats Johnny Weaver with a brainbuster. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair comes out to talk to Tony and David, he says anything can happen in professional wrestling, he was looking forward to and preparing to face his friend and Dream Team partner Ricky Steamboat in Charlotte this Friday, but was informed earlier in the day that Ricky was pulling out of the match to team with Jay Youngblood to face the Russians for the NWA World Tag Team Titles instead. Flair applauds Ricky for standing at Jay’s side and says that he hopes they take the titles from the Russians, and promises that Steamboat will get his shot at the NWA Title, any time, any place once Steamboat has taken care of business. Now as for who he will be facing in Charlotte, Flair starts to list some of the wrestlers who he thinks deserves a title shot, like Dick Slater, or wrestlers from other areas like Dusty Rhodes, Kerry Von Erich or Harley Race when he is interrupted by “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin and Precious!!! Garvin wanted to know why Flair left his name out? Why is Flair ducking him? Garvin says he knows why, because Flair knows that if he gets in the ring with Garvin he’ll lose the World Title!!! Flair told Garvin his looked ridiculous in his 50 dollar robe and said he’d let Garvin borrow one of his 50,000 dollar robes so he’d stop embarrassing Jim Crockett Promotions on Nationwide TV, but he’d be afraid that Garvin would get lost in the arms. Garvin told Flair to watch his mouth or else end up like Sam Houston, Flair responded by letting Garvin know that while Sam Houston was a great young athlete, Flair is in a whole different stratosphere and if Garvin thinks he is going to drop Flair on his head and send him out on a stretcher he’s got another thing coming, he also tells Garvin to start showing him the respect he deserves as the World Heavyweight Champion of he’ll take Precious home and show here what a real man can do. That lead to a brawl between the two men and after Precious sprayed Flair in the face with the air freshener she carries around the ring with her, Garvin attempted to give Flair a brainbuster on the concrete floor!!! However before he could execute the move several of Flair’s friends ran out and Garvin took a powder. Flair was still at the broadcast table when we returned from a commercial break and was hot!!! Flair lit into Garvin on the microphone and said if Garvin wants to walk that aisle in Charlotte and go one on one with the Man, then he’s on!!!!! Tony says we are out of time!!!!

Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: The Carolina Classic '85! Sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance Charlotte Coliseum January 31, 1985 Our opening bout saw The Italian Stallion battle Les Thornton in a one on one contest, the veteran Thornton tied Stallion into knots early, but the young man fought back and got the win after a big body slam and running splash!!! The veteran Johnny Weaver teamed up with the youngster Keith Larsen to battle Thunderfoot and “Desperado” Joel Deaton in a wild tag team encounter, Larsen takes quite a beating but finally is able to get the tag to the legend, Weaver puts Thunderfoot down with the Weaver Lock. Deaton is very unhappy with the outcome and takes out his partner with a piledriver !!!!! “Dirty” Dick Slater and “Chief” Wahoo McDaniels meet up next in match that the referee has no control over whatsoever. McDaniels and Slater beat the ever loving stuffing out of each other. The match quickly spills out of the ring and the two men get counted out, but the sound of the bell does nothing to break up the fight as the two men continue to brawl. Some of Charlotte’s Finest have to come out and break up the brawl Television Champion Tully Blanchard defends the TV Title against the undefeated Hector Guerrero!! Guerrero takes the fight right to Blanchard, flying around the ring and never giving Blanchard a chance to breathe, Guerrero scores several nearfalls but can’t keep Blanchard down. Blanchard tries to escape out of the ring, but Hector catches him with a suicide dive through the ropes!!! Hector keeps the pressure on Blanchard, but when he hits a crossbody block off the ropes, Blanchard rolls through it, and grabs a handful of tights to get the three count and barely escape with his title!! Hector is complaining about the tights pull, but Tommy Young give the title to Blanchard!! Hector unloads on Blanchard with punches and sends him flying over the top rope with a dropkick!! Hector poses with the TV Title before throwing it at Blanchard on the outside of the ring!!! United States Champion “The Ragin Bull” Manny Fernandez mixes it up with “Macho Man” Randy Savage, and The Bull is ready to fight as he has brought the so called “Crying Towel” with him!!! The Bull tosses the towel at Savage and it’s on!!! The two men go at it with both scoring several near falls, everything goes to hell though when The Bull some how kicks out after Savage’s flying elbow smash!!! Savage launches the referee out of the ring, and totally loses his mind!!!! Savage chokes Manny out and then lays him out with a steel chair!!! Savage bashes a referee with a chair when the Calvary arrives to try and restore order. Savage is finally talked down and leaves the ring while medics check on a bleeding Fernandez and a knocked out referee!!!! The feud that people never thought would end finally came to a conclusion when Jimmy Valiant defeats Paul Jones in an anything goes Coffin Match when he hit Jones with Jones’ own brass knuckles, tosses him in the coffin and slams the lid shut!!!! Valiant does a dance on top of the coffin having finally rid himself of Paul Jones!!!! NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: “GORGEOUS” JIMMY GARVIN W/PRECIOUS VS. “THE NATURE BOY” RIC FLAIR © Flair and Garvin are extremely well matched as they trade holds, with neither man getting an advantage. The match quickly approaches the 30 minute mark and the two men start to throw everything they have at one another. Flair hits a belly to back suplex that only gets two, Garvin reverses an Irish Whip and almost takes Flair’s head off with a Jumping Knee that also only gets two. Garvin runs the ropes and tries to clothesline Flair but Flair ducks it and then backdrops Garvin, Flair hits the delay vertical suplex, cover only gets two again. Flair whips Garvin into the ropes, and drops his head for a backdrop but Garvin surprises Flair with a Sunset Flip!!! 2 count again, 15 minutes are left in the time limit now, and Flair pulls Garvin up. Flair tries to execute another vertical suplex, but Garvin wiggles out and lands on his feet behind Flair. Garvin hits a German Suplex with a Bridge, but Flair is somehow able to get his shoulder up right before the three is counted. Garvin cranks on a headlock and then pulls Flair up for a backbreaker!!! Garvin then locks on a camel clutch trying to work on the surgically repaired back of the Nature Boy!!! Tommy Young is right there but Flair flat out refuses to give it up!! Garvin pulls Flair to his feet and whips him into the ropes. Garvin tries to follow up with a clothesline, but Flair moves and Garvin runs chest first into the corner. Garvin staggers backward into a clip by Flair!!! Flair goes for the figure four leg lock but Garvin cradles him for a two count!!!! Flair and Garvin start to trade chops!!! Garvin rakes the eyes and sends Flair into the corner!!! Flair flips over the turnbuckle and runs the apron!!! Flair comes off the top rope with a double ax handle!!! A cover gets a two count!!!! 1 minute is left in the match when Flair pulls Garvin up, he tries to whip Garvin into the ropes but Garvin reverses and catches Flair with a BIIIIIIIIIIIG backdrop!!!! Garvin then grabs Flair and attempts the Brainbuster, but Flair blocks it, Garvin tries for another brainbuster and Flair blocks it again!!! Flair then reverses it into another delayed vertical suplex!!! Float over only gets a two count!! Flair and Garvin are on their knees trading chops as Tom Miller counts down 5-4-3-2-1!!!! The bell rings and this match is declared a time limit draw!!!! Flair and Garvin are exhausted but still trading chops!!! Flair gets the better of it and knocks Garvin out of the ring with a big one!!! The referee gets in front of Flair as he dares Garvin to get back in the ring, Precious is in front of Garvin and convinces him to go to the back as Tommy Young talks Flair down, he hands Flair the NWA Title and Miller announces that Flair retains the belt. NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: RICKY STEAMBOAT & JAY YOUNGBLOOD VS. IVAN & NIKITA KOLOFF W/ DON KERNDOLE © Steamboat and Youngblood try and end this one early, using quick tags in and out and isolating Ivan, they use an explosive tandem offense to take away Ivan’s strength advantage. Everything looks to be going the babyface’s way early as they keep the pressure on and use their speed to keep Ivan on the mat, but Ivan still has some fight in him and stops Steamboat dead in his tracks when he surprises The Dragon with a double ax handle to the chest as Steamboat comes off the ropes that damn near caves Steamboat’s chest in!!! Now the Koloffs find themselves in familiar territory as they start to bulldoze The Dragon!! Youngblood is going insane in the corner as the The Koloffs heap punishment and more punishment onto Steamboat, but somehow The Dragon keeps finding a way to kick out. Steamboat goes into full sell mode making it seem like The Koloffs are killing him as they toss him around the ring and batter him in the corner. All looks lost for the babyfaces when The Koloffs try for a double clothesline and Steamboat, out of desperation, launches himself in the air and catches his opponents with a crossbody block!!!!!! Youngblood is practically coming out of his skin begging Steamboat to find a way to make the tag. Steamboat is on his feet, with his back against the ropes when Nikita charges him and Steamboat backdrops him completely out of the ring!!!!!! Ivan tries to grab Steamboat, but the weary Steamboat beats him back with chops and then a big dropkick sends Ivan to the mat!!!!! Steamboat collapse to the mat and starts to crawl to his corner, Jay is begging for the tag!!! Steamboat slowly gets there and JAY YOUNGBLOOD PULLS BACK!!!!!!!! YOUNGBLOOD SHAKES HIS HEAD NO AND DROPS OFF THE APRON!!!! WHAT IN THE SAM HILL IS GOING ON!!!! STEAMBOAT IS ON HIS KNEES WITH HIS HAND OUT!!! HE LOOKS CONFUSED AND SHOCKED!!! JAY NEVER SAYS A WORD JUST SHAKES HIS HEAD NO!!! JAY TURNS AND HEADS TO THE DAMN LOCKER ROOM!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!!!! The Dragon doesn’t have time to comprehend what is going on as Ivan is back to his feet and clobbers Steamboat from behind Steamboat tries to fight back as Ivan beats him down, Ivan tags out to Nikita who whips Steamboat hard into the corner, but when Nikita charges Steamboat moves!!! Nikita smashes his shoulder into the ring post!!! Steamboat tries unloading with chops on Nikita, he is trying everything to take the Russian Nightmare down!!! Steamboat runs the ropes but Nikita damn near kills him with a Russian Sickle out of no where!!!! Nikita explodes and stomps around the ring yelling in Russian!!! Ivan tags in, climbs the top rope, Nikita puts Steamboat across his knee as Ivan comes off the top and drops a knee on Steamboat!!! But they aren’t done!!! Ivan pulls Steamboat up and holds him for Nikita to hit another Russian Sickle!!! Nikita pins Steamboat, who isn’t moving, with his tongue out!!!! The bell rings and it is announced that the Russians have retained the NWA World Tag Team Title, Ivan celebrates while Nikita gets on the top rope and beats on his chest, holding the World Tag Title belt up and pointing down at Steamboat yelling at the crowd!!! Everything is being thrown in the ring at the Russians, Ivan is ordering Don Kerndole to wave the Russian Flag, but Don seems more worried about Steamboat. Police officers come out to escort the Russians to the back, though one fan tries to jump on Nikita and gets punched in the mouth for this troubles. Steamboat has be to be taken out of the ring via stretcher!!!!

Really surprised Jones hit Valiant with his own knucks. Still, with all the tricks up Jones' sleeve, Valiant danced on that coffin! Slater and McDaniel would have the MACW fans frantic at every turn. Garvin and Flair is being masterfully built and the draw cements that. Great stuff from Tully, as always.
But,Chris, reading the turn by Jay against Steamer was the treat of the post. Didn't see it coming. Kernodle showing concern for Steamer sets up some great stuff down the road. The different levels here are masterful. Once again, you have shown why you are a Hall of Fame master of all this.
Like the format of seeing all this together. Really pulled me in.
