INTERMISSION
5) Southern Tag Team Champions Hotstuff International: Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner defeated The Nightmares: Danny Davis & Ken Wayne at 20:41 when Rick Steiner drilled Danny Davis with a bulldog off the second rope. Gilbert had drilled Ken Wayne with a roll of quarters on the floor earlier in the match, leaving Davis to try to fight both opponents on his own for much of the match.
6) Austin Idol and Bill Dundee defeated One Man Gang and Masked Superstar at 19:34 when Idol pinned Masked Superstar with a running clothesline after a long brawl between all four men. Idol continued his momentum as he took down the massive One Man Gang with a body-slam and then drilled Masked Superstar with a hard-hitting clothesline.
7) CWA Heavyweight Championship Match: Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler: It’s one-on-one again as The Snake battles The King with the CWA Heavyweight Title is on the line. Roberts manages to infuriate the fans in attendance by continually ducking out of the ring when Lawler goes to lock up. After about five minutes of this, Lawler has had enough and just sucker-punches Roberts. Lawler and Roberts are then off to the races for several minutes exchanging having the advantage.
Roberts show how he has held onto the CWA Heavyweight Title for four months by scoring a series of knee falls with signature moves like the short-arm clothesline and the running knee lift. Lawler fights back each time, but is continuously foiled by Roberts bending and breaking every rule possible. The final moments see Roberts go for the DDT, but The King shoots him off the ropes and connects with a big right hand to the jaw. Lawler then angrily picks Roberts up and signals for the pile-driver, but Jerry Calhoun grabs Jerry’s arm and warns him not to do it!
The King sees sense, but Roberts uses the opportunity to connect with a low blow. Calhoun threatens disqualification as Roberts once again goes for the DDT, only for Lawler to block it again and slam Roberts right in the center of the ring. Lawler takes a second to regroup and now he pulls down the strap as the fans roar! Lawler connects with right hand after right hand, and now he connects with a DDT of his own on Roberts! Lawler makes the cover and gets the 1-2-NO! Lawler’s DDT was not quite as potent as The Snake’s DDT, but Lawler goes up to the second rope and flies off with a fist drop! He covers and this time he gets the 1-2-3!! We have a new CWA Heavyweight Champion!
Jerry Lawler is joined in the ring by Tommy Rich, Jimmy Valiant, Austin Idol and Bill Dundee as he celebrates with the CWA Heavyweight Title. They hoist The King up on their shoulders, but something is going on at ringside. Jake Roberts has a microphone and he shouts that he let Lawler have his moment, but that moment is over! Roberts swings around and decks timekeeper and announcer Randy Hales! Jake then quickly pulls poor Randy into a DDT on the concrete floor. The babyfaces race out to the floor, as Jake Roberts slides away and jogs to the dressing room. A concerned Jerry Lawler tends to Randy Hales, and signals to medics, who eventually arrive and load Randy onto a stretcher and take him out of the arena. The night ends on a very solemn note.
