-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. Jerry “The King” Lawler makes his way out to kick off the show, fresh off his week-long in-ring suspension for using a pile-driver. Lance mentions that this Monday, Lawler gets another shot at Roberts. The King has promised Eddie Marlin that he will keep control of his emotions and he won’t have to use the pile-driver to prove his point against The Snake. Jake Roberts can talk about all of his mind games, but Lawler reminds fans that he can play mind games of his own. He talks about the long list of wrestlers that have come to Memphis and tried to take him down, only to fail. Big stars like Hulk Hogan, King Kong Bundy, Terry Funk and Ken Patera have all promised to be the end of The King, but they are all gone and he is still here stronger than ever.
This brings out Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who promises a protesting Lance Russell that there will be no trouble. The Snake heard Lawler boasting out here – but he tells Lawler that there is a major difference between Jake Roberts and all of those people that were just mentioned. Roberts has managed to outsmart the master manipulator Jerry Lawler every step of the way thus far, and that will only continue on Monday. Jake promises that Jerry Lawler and every Memphis Wrestling fan will leave the Mid South Coliseum depressed, angry and disappointed on Monday night because The Snake always gets the last laugh. Lawler and Roberts go eye-to-eye, before Jake The Snake slinks away.
1) Bill Dundee pinned Charlie Cook at 5:41 when the Superstar connected with the Bomb’s Away knee drop off the second rope.
Bill Dundee makes his way over to the desk, where Jerry “The King” Lawler was still standing by. Lance Russell announces that Dundee will team with Austin Idol this Monday night against Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang and The Masked Superstar. Dundee says he hasn’t always gotten along with Idol, but an enemy of the Devil’s Triangle is a friend of his. Dundee says that the team of the Superstar and the Universal Heartthrob aren’t going to be stopped this Monday night, and the fans just might see the massive One Man Gang get body-slammed again by Idol!
Jerry Lawler then addresses Jake The Snake’s comments from earlier. The King says Roberts can play every mind game possible, but those mind games can’t get him a win. All Jake can do is incite Lawler to ruin his own gameplan. That won’t happen on Monday. The King lost his temper once before, but he has things under control now. This Monday night, he finally beats Jake Roberts and becomes the brand new CWA Heavyweight Champion. Dundee wishes "Kingfish" the best of luck and they shake hands, as Lance Russell sends us to our next commercial break.

Jimmy Hart is out with “Ravishing” Rick Rude and his bodyguard Big Bubba Rogers. Hart is sick and tired of Tommy Rich, and he has already had enough of Jimmy Valiant being back in Memphis as well! The manager tells Lance Russell that he wants both of these punks out of The First Family’s way for good! Lance says that Hart’s men will have their chance this Monday night when they take on Rich and Valiant in another blockbuster tag team match. The Mouth of the South makes it clear to his men that he wants them to finish things this Monday night and get their hands raised.
Rick Rude answers that first of all, Jimmy Hart needs to calm down because he has things under control. The Ravishing One has Big Bubba in his corner and this Monday night, this little Cinderella story comes to an end. Rude says Jimmy Valiant can go back to the streets after this Monday, and Rich will be able to achieve his true life’s destiny of being a fry cook at Denny’s. Because Rich and Valiant are no match for two true rising stars in professional wrestling – the Ravishing One and Big Bubba Rogers.
2) Rick Rude (w/ Jimmy Hart & Big Bubba Rogers) defeated Ron Sexton at 3:56 with the Rude Awakening neck-breaker.
Sweet Sensation come out next to speak to Dave Brown, who announces that they will face The Bruise Brothers one more time this Monday night at the Mid South Coliseum. Stan Lane says that last week, himself and Shawn Michaels scored a major win over The Bruise Brothers. They are back on track and they will use this Monday’s match to further put themselves into title contention. Dave mentions that they have to be careful of The Bruise Brothers’ penchant for breaking the rules. Shawn Michaels agrees with Dave Brown, and says they’ll be happy to introduce Porkchop Cash to his own loaded boot again if he tries any funny business.

Masked Superstar and Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang are out at the desk with Lance Russell as we come back. Lance asks how they plan to deal with the all-star team of Austin Idol and Bill Dundee. Masked Superstar says that Lance has asked the wrong question. What are Idol and Dundee going to do about facing the all-star team of the Masked Superstar and Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang? That’s the real question that every Memphis Wrestling fan should spend the next several days thinking about before the match at the Mid South Coliseum on Monday night.
The masked man then reminds Dave Brown that One Man Gang has never been pinned or made to submit here in CWA. Not one single time in the last six months. Masked Superstar adds that while Idol managed to luck into a count-out victory last Monday, he did not pin the massive One Man Gang or make him submit. If Idol couldn’t get the job done one-on-one, how is he going to do it with the Masked Superstar in the match as well this Monday night? The result is a foregone conclusion – hometown heroes Idol and Dundee will embarrass themselves and the city of Memphis this Monday night!
3) The Masked Superstar defeated Roy Lee Welch at 4:42 when he forces Welch to pass out in the cobra hold.
“The Boy From New York City” begins playing in the studio after the match as Tommy Rich and “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant make their way around the ring side to shake hands with the fans. Valiant even plants some kisses on some of the fans. Valiant shouts to Dave Brown that “Mempho is wild and crazy this morning, jack”. Handsome Jimmy is ready and willing to spill some blood on Monday night on “Big Bag Bubba” and “Ricky Rude”. Tommy Rich slaps Jimmy Valiant some five and then says that he and Jimmy have the First Family on the ropes, and soon enough it will be Jimmy Hart who will be back playing on street corners with his band! Wildfire is “all faaaaaaaaaaaaared up” for this Monday nigh!

Southern Tag Team Champions “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert and Rick Steiner are out with Lance Russell to discuss their loss in a non-title match against The Nightmares last Monday night. Eddie Gilbert says it was nothing more than a fluke. Eddie says that he and Steiner were busy the night before with some of the finest looking ladies – all from out of town by the way. So the Nightmares got lucky for once in their lives. Eddie says that this week, himself and the Dog-Faced Gremlin are swearing off the ladies until after the match on Monday night. After they win, the ladies can line up outside their dressing room and maybe they can have a shot at the two finest specimens in professional wrestling today!
4) Billy Joe Travis pinned Kendell Windham at 12:45 when he connects with a cross-body block off the second rope.
Billy Joe Travis rebounds from a big win over Kendall Windham, and stops by the desk to speak with Dave Brown. Travis tells Lance that he had a bit of a setback against Jake Roberts last Monday, but he is glad to be back on the winning road here today on Championship Wrestling. The interview is interrupted for some reason by Adrian Street and Miss Linda, who are annoyed at being left off the show today. Street says everyone seems to think he’s a big joke around here recently. Well, Street wants to make it clear that he is “very bloody serious” and will handle anyone who says otherwise.
Street wants to know why a “disgusting little toerag” like Billy Joe Travis is once again getting interview time? Billy smiles and reminds Street that Kendell Windham came out here and interrupted him in a similar manner once, and look what just happened to him in the ring. Street laughs and then decks Billy Joe Travis! That escalated quickly! Travis and Street are now brawling all around the studio, until the locker room clears out to separate these two. Dave Brown sends us to commercial to get things back under control.
