-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘85”. The announcers advise the fans to stay tuned through the entire show because Jerry “The King” Lawler will be here with a major announcement. There is a lot of speculation that Jerry will announce his retirement today, but we will hear it straight from The King’s mouth a little later on. They then send us to a VTR promoting the return of Ken Wayne and Danny Davis – The Nighmares.
Match #1: Sweet Sensation vs. Ken Raper & Mark Ragin
Stan Lane pinned Ken Raper at 5:02 when he and Shawn Michaels connected with the double super kick on their opponents… Michaels and Lane are becoming a better team each week and it shows in this match. However, this Monday night they have to face the Moondogs once again. That will be a true test of whether Sweet Sensation have a future as a team.
Stan Lane and Shawn Michaels then make their way over to the desk after high-fiving some of the fans. Stan Lane talks about being thrown right into the fire since coming back here to the CWA. Stan mentions The Fabulous Ones had some legendary battles with the Moondogs in the past, but those two mangy mutts have only gotten meaner over time. Last time at the Coliseum, the match turned into a good old-fashioned brawl. This Monday, Stan and Shawn are ready for another brawl and this time they plan on getting the 1-2-3 on Jimmy Hart’s twisted pets.

“Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert and Jimmy Hart are out at the desk before the rematch pitting Gilbert against Billy Joe Travis. Lance Russell mentions that Travis has impressed a lot of people thus far, especially by upending Gilbert on two occasions. Eddie is sick and tired of hearing about the two luckiest days in Billy Joe’s life. Hotstuff says that’s all it was – luck. Today, right here in front of all of people watching on TV, he is going to show Billy Joe Travis that he still has a long way to go before he can ever compare himself to “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert. Jimmy Hart says Eddie is ready for “the green-as-grass rookie” and promises that the Cinderella story ends right now.
Match #2 “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Billy Joe Travis
Eddie Gilbert pinned Billy Joe Travis at 15:12 with the Hot Shot… This match was incredibly fast-paced and went through two commercial breaks. Travis scored many near falls, but made a mistake by arguing with Jimmy Hart. Gilbert pounced with a knee to the back and a Hot Shot to end his streak of bad luck. Gilbert celebrated with Hart on the floor as the announcers put over the tremendous effort put forth by Billy Joe Travis.
Lance Russell announces that this Monday, it will be Dutch Mantell going one-on-one with the Dirty White Boy. However, The Dream Machine is scheduled for a tag team match with The Mongolian Stomper and Stomper Jr. He calls out Dream Machine to discuss the dilemma since the White Boy already has another match. Dream Machine is gleeful as he tells Lance Russell that there’s nothing wrong at all. Because he does have a tag team partner – someone who everyone knows. His tag team partner is none other than:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
PORCKCHOP CASH!!!!!
The Dream Machine is shouting that The Boss is back as Porkchop Cash makes his way into the studio for the first time in over a year. Dream Machine shouts that the Bruise Brothers are reunited! Lance Russell mentions that he thought Cash had learned better than to team with the likes of the Dream Machine anymore. Cash tells Lance Russell that the Dream Machine is his brother for life, and the Dream’s problems are his problems. And right now, The Mongolian Stomper and his punk kid nephew are a big problem for the Dream Machine. This Monday night, the Bruise Brothers are going to show Mongolian Stomper that he should have told his nephew to become a librarian or an accountant, not a professional wrestler! Cash and the Dream Machine yuck it up as they walk off to the dressing room.

Southern Heavyweight Champion One Man Gang is out to talk with Lance Russell about his feud with Bill Dundee and Tommy Rich. One Man Gang boasts that Eddie Marlin has thrown two of the biggest stars in CWA history at him, and he is still standing here as the Southern Heavyweight Champion. Lance mentions that both Dundee and Rich have given him a run for his money, and this Monday those two will team up against One Man Gang and Adrian Street in a No Holds Barred match. There WILL be a winner! One Man Gang scoffs and says Tommy Rich is nothing but a blonde-haired sissy, and so he will make sure his pretty hair turns from white to red this Monday night.
This brings out “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, who has heard just about enough. Rich says he is sick and tired of the Devil’s Triangle coming out here and talking a big game. As far as he’s concerned, they have lied, cheated and stole their way to the top of CWA. One Man Gang then gets in Rich’s face and tells him he better keep his mouth shut or the champ won’t wait until Monday. Rich steps up and he shoves the champion! One Man Gang responds and now we have the two of them brawling all around the ringside area!
Tommy Rich is holding his own against One Man Gang, and now here come the Devil’s Triangle, but they are quickly thwarted as Eddie Marlin leads out half the locker-room to break them up. Rich and Gang keep breaking through to keep fighting, but eventually are separated after several minutes. Eddie Marlin then goes over to the desk and angrily announces that he is having both Rich and One Man Gang ejected from the studio right now!
Match #3: The Rock n’ Roll Express vs. Mike Boyette & Mike George
Ricky Morton pinned Mike Boyete at 3:13 when he came off the top rope with a sunset flip to get the win… Morton and Gibson were fired up as they took the fight to Boyette and George from bell to bell and scored a relatively easy win.
Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson then made their way over to the desk, and let’s just say they were not pleased with losing the Southern Tag Team Titles. Morton says there’s no doubt now that he and Robert have something to prove. Now, they’ve been told they will have a rematch on February 24, but this Monday they still want a piece of the First Family. He has talked to Eddie Gilbert and this Monday it will be: The Rock n’ Roll Express and Billy Joe Travis against Rick Rude, Adrian Adonis and Eddie Gilbert. Morton says the Rock n’ Roll Express and Billy Joe Travis need to get things back on track, and a six-man tag team match is as good as any other way to get it done.

VTR: We see Rick Steiner’s training regiment. Jerry Jarrett and Eddie Marlin are shown having him run stadium steps, and then we see him in the ring. It’s clear event though he’s a professional rookie that his amateur success has already made him a capable competitor. The VTR closes with Jerry Jarrett announcing that Rick Steiner will formally sign his CWA contract live on Championship Wrestling in two weeks!
The brand new Southern Tag Team Champions “Ravishing” Rick Rude and Adrian Adonis are out with Jimmy Hart and Big Bubba Rogers. Hart cackles as he says Eddie Gilbert has shown Billy Joe Travis what happens when you mess with fire. The Rock n’ Roll Express learned that first-hand last Monday night, and now all three of them will learn not to make the same mistake twice at the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday. Rick Rude pipes in and says that he is in the absolute peak physical condition and as far as he’s concerned, the First Family will keep these tag team titles for as long as Jimmy Hart wants!
TV Main Event: Big Bubba Rogers w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Rufus R. Jones
Big Bubba Rogers pinned Rufus R. Jones at 5:59 with the sidewalk slam... The Freight Train is the biggest challenge in the short career of Big Bubba Rogers thus far, but Jimmy Hart’s bodyguard goes through him pretty quickly and absolutely lays him out with his high-impact sidewalk slam.
Lance Russell and Dave Brown announce that the moment has come, and welcome Jerry “The King” Lawler for the first time in six weeks. Lawler makes his way into the studio – still wearing a neckbrace. He is moving slowly as he shakes hands with the fans around ringside and then makes his way over to the desk to shake hands with Russell and Brown. Lance says that it is a real pleasure to see The King, although if the rumors are true it will be sad day for Memphis Wrestling.
Jerry Lawler first says he appreciates the sentiments of Lance and Dave, and of the people of Memphis. Regardless of what anyone says, it was the people that made him the King of Memphis. They have taken him in and he has tried to be a hero to them in order to live up to what they deserved. Lawler says he never for one moment took for granted that these great people have put a lot of faith him and spent a lot of their hard-earned money to see him wrestle every Monday night for ten years now. So regardless of what he says next, The King wants the fans to know that he will always appreciate the way they have changed his life.
Lawler goes on to talk about his injury at the hands of the Devil’s Triangle and how they cost him the Southern Heavyweight Title. Every fiber in his body tells him that he needs revenge. But, he has to think of his wife and his children. He wants them to have a husband and father who can walk and be an active part of their lives. So, he has had a lot of thinking to do and he has come to a life-changing decision.
Booing can be heard now in the studio and the camera pans around as Jake “The Snake” Roberts and “Exotic” Adrian Street make their way into the studio. Lance and Dave are ordering them to leave right now, but Roberts tells to shut their mouths. The Snake took the King out and he has a right to be here to watch him announce to his people that he will never, ever wrestle again. Lawler is scowling and he tells Roberts and Street to buzz off, and oh my god no! They are now approaching and they are menacing the King as he sits at the desk! Not again! Not again! Hold on – here comes “Superstar” Bill Dundee and he has a steel chair!
He is holding the chair up as Roberts and Street face him now and threaten him. The boos now turn to cheers because behind their backs – The King stands up! Lawler holds up his microphone and orders Jake to turn around. Jerry then says that Roberts didn’t let him finish. He jumped to the conclusion that The King was going to announce his retirement. In actuality, his doctor has signed a release that clears him to get back into the ring on March 3! And he’s talked to Eddie Marlin, on that night at the Mid-South Coliseum, the team of Lawler and Dundee put their issues aside and step back into the ring together to kick the butts of Jake Roberts and Adrian Street!!!!
Dundee now charges and begins chasing Street with the chair. The stunned Snake is shocked as Lawler now rips off the neckbrace, whips around the desk and begins drilling him with rights and lefts! The fans are going insane as Lawler is drilling The Snake and throws him into the ring. Lawler now begins wrapping his right hand – with a chain! The King rolls into the ring and he floors The Snake with the chain-assisted right hand! Lawler now goes up to the second rope – he looks around to the cheering fans! Lawler leaps off and connects with the flying chain-wrapped fist drop!
The Snake is out cold and bleeding profusely, as Street and Miss Linda now pull him out to the floor and carry him off. Lawler and Dundee are reunited in the ring now – and look at this, they shake hands! Lawler now walks over to the desk and announces that he will be in the Mid-South Coliseum this Monday night in the corner of Tommy Rich and Bill Dundee. Revenge starts this Monday, and continues on March 3 when Dundee and Lawler reunite! The atmosphere is electric as Lawler and Dundee walk off, while Lance Russell marvels that The King is back and he has just laid out Jake “The Snake” Roberts!
