STAMPEDE CORRAL IN CALGARY, ALBERTA
MATCH #1:
10-MAN BATTLE ROYAL. Participants are: Mr. Hito, Randy Savage, Leo Burke, David Schultz, Kerry Brown, Kelly Kiniski, Bobby Duncum, Jim Neidhart, Dynamite Kid, and the Great Gama. Stipulations state that the winner will get a shot at Bret Hart’s North American title on the January 4 TV show.
Mr. Hito is the first to go, only a minute or so into the match, as Kerry Brown dumps him over the top rope. Leo Burke and the Great Gama are both eliminated next, as they brawl along the ropes, and Randy Savage and David Schultz shove them out. Schultz and Savage then start brawling with each other. Savage eliminates David Schultz by connecting with a running clothesline that sends Dr. D over the top and to the floor.
Kerry Brown and Kelly Kiniski gang up on Bobby Duncum, throwing him over the top rope. Kelly Kiniski finds himself tossed over the top by Jim Neidhart. Dynamite Kid is eliminated by Randy Savage.
We’re down the final three competitors. Randy Savage and Kerry Brown form an alliance, and are able to eliminate Jim Neidhart. Savage immediately turns on Brown and eliminates him!
Randy Savage wins the Battle Royal, and earns a shot at Bret Hart’s North American title on January 4! Savage takes the house mic and cuts a promo on Bret, saying he’ll take his title on January 4.
MATCH #2:
MR. HITO beats GOLDIE ROGERS via pinfall with a crossbody from the top rope.
MATCH #3:
“MACHO MAN” RANDY SAVAGE beats LEO BURKE. Burke, a tough veteran, gave the Macho Man all he could handle in this one, but Savage was just a little tougher, and got the pinfall following an elbowdrop from the top rope.
MATCH #4
FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
KERRY BROWN & KELLY KINISKI (Champs) (w/ JR Foley) VS. BOBBY DUNCUM & JIM NEIDHART. Neidhart and Duncum may be the only team in Stampede Wrestling that can match the Masters of Disaster in power and brawling ability. Duncum gives Kiniski a beating early on, with Kiniski tagging out to Brown, but he doesn’t fare any better. The champions are able to eventually take control of the match, with Neidhart in the ring, Kiniski hits Jim with a low blow, and the champions spend the next few minutes ganging up on Neidhart in their corner of the ring. Neidhart eventually makes the hot tag to Duncum, but his advantage is short-lived, as he gets double-teamed as well.
JR Foley pulls the dazed Neidhart off the ring apron, and slams his head into the ringpost. Inside the ring, the champions drop Duncum on his head with a spike Piledriver, and Kerry Brown covers him for the 1, 2, 3.
MATCH #5:
DYNAMITE KID beats THE GREAT GAMA via pinfall with a missile dropkick after a fast-paced, hard-hitting match.
MATCH #6
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
BEST 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS, DAVID SCHULTZ IS THE SPECIAL REFEREE:
RIC FLAIR (World Champ) VS. BRET HART. David Schultz talks to both men prior to the opening bell, saying he’s going to call it right down the middle. Flair gets in Schultz’s face, and says that he’d better be impartial.
FALL #1: The opening fall starts out slowly, as both men are waiting for a spot to attack. Flair takes the early advantage, and immediately starts working on Bret’s knee, looking to soften him up for the Figure-4. Minutes later, feeling that Hart has been sufficiently weakened, Flair goes for the Figure-4 right in the middle of the ring . . . but Bret rolls him up in a small package! Flair is caught completely off-guard, and Bret gets the 1, 2, 3 to win the first fall!
FALL #2: Flair tears into the challenger to start the second fall, kicking Bret’s leg out from under him. Bret eventually battles back, and gets some nearfalls, but the counts from Schultz seem to get slower and slower with each nearfall that Bret gets. The fall ends when Flair sidesteps Bret as Hart charges at him in the corner, and then rolls Bret up, with his feet on the middle rope for leverage, and gets the 1, 2, 3.
FALL #3: Bret goes on the offensive to start the third fall, but becomes frustrated when he feels that Schultz is counting too slowly whenever Bret has Flair covered. Eventually, Bret confronts Schultz, asking him why he’s counting so slow. Schultz denies that there were any slow counts. Bret goes back to work on the Nature Boy, and after a minute or two, he gets another nearfall, and this time it’s painfully obvious to Bret, and everyone in the building, that Schultz is taking his sweet time counting the fall.
Now Bret is really pissed, he gets in Dr. D’s face again, and this time Schultz shoves Bret back. Flair was walking up behind Hart, and as Schultz shoved him, Flair rolled Bret up from behind. Schultz made a SUPER fast three-count and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair has once again regained his World title over Bret Hart.
Schultz hands Flair the belt, then leaves the ring as Bret shakes his head in disbelief.
After the final match, Stampede promoter Stu Hart comes to the ring, thanks the fans for coming out, and says that this Saturday’s (Dec. 28) TV will be a Year in Review show, but they’ll return to their regular shows on Saturday, January 4 with Bret Hart defending the North American title against Randy Savage!
