AWA ALL STAR WRESTLING
Matches taped November 29, 1984 to air across the territory on November 30, 1984 at the studios of KMSP TV in Minneapolis. Rod Trongard on commentary and Ken Resnick as ring announcer and interviewer. Interviews taped backstage at the St. Paul Civic Center on Thanksgiving night unless otherwise indicated.
After the opening, we cut to Ken Resnick and Rod Trongard in front of the AWA logo.
RESNICK: welcome to another hour of ALL STAR WRESTLING! We have a great lineup of wrestling stars here today. We are in front of the cameras less than 24 hours after the big card at the St> Paul Civic Center on Thanksgiving night. We’ll go back to the dressing room in St. Paul to speak with many of the top stars just moments after they wrestled. We will see Butch Reed in action against Akio Sato this week!
TRONGARD: One half of the top contending team to the World Tag Team Champions against a top Japanese wrestler. That should be a great match.
RESNICK: A new member of the Legion of Doom will see action as Paul Ellering presents “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly!
TRONGARD: This man has an amazing physique and quite an ego to go along with it!
RESNICK: Steve O is in action, Pez Whatley teams with Mil Mascaras, and Boris Zhukov teams with Ox Baker!
”Hacksaw” Butch Reed vs. Akio Sato: Sato gives Reed, who is accompanied by Tony Atlas, a tough bout. Reed picks up the hard fought win via pinfall after a shoulder tackle off the top rope.
V TR:
Ken Resnick is with Butch Reed & Tony Atlas in a dressing room. Atlas & Reed are still in their gear and are perspiring heavily.
RESNICK: Just a few moments ago, these two men survived and, with their partner Curt Hennig, won the Gehtto Odds Street Fight over four Legion of Doom members! That means that Tony Atlas & butch Reed get the World tag Title match inside of a steel cage!
REED: Paul Ellering thought he had a plan! He had us outnumbered and he brought a chair into the ring! Our friend Curt Hennig was ready!
Cut to the closing minutes of the match: At one point, Ellering attempts to bring a chair into the ring, but Hennig dropkicks the chair right into his face! Hennig then lands a cradle suplex on Ellering and gets the 1-2-3!
ATLAS: Now, we get what we want! Hawk & Animal in a cage! Those belts are coming our way!
Curt Hennig enters the picture, dressed in street clothes and hair still wet from the shower.
HENNIG: Legion of Doom, this was just one battle in the war! Tonight, we proved that you can be beat! These men are going to take those belts! Paul Ellering, you can send the Barbarian, Dr. Death, or the Superstar at me and I’ll never back down! You found out tonight that you can even bring in a chair and I won’t back down!
REED: This man proved to everybody how tough he is! Hawk & Animal, I can’t wait until we get you in the cage!
COMMERCIAL
”Mr.Magnificent” Kevin Kelly vs. Dusty Wolfe: Paul Ellering accompanies Kelly to the ring. Kelly does a lot of preening and posing, but looks mean and tough here. Kelly spends most of the match working on Wolfe’s neck and finally gets the win with a full nelson.
COMMERCIAL
Ox Baker & Boris Zhukov vs. Gerald Finley & Jake Milliman: With Adnan yelling instructions from ringside, Baker & Zhukov give Finley and the Milkman a vicious beating! Baker finally hits the heart punch to finish Finley. Rod Trongard announces that next week, Zhukov & Baker will wrestle Butch Reed & Tony Atlas here on ALL STAR WRESTLING!
VTR:
The Road Warriors & Paul Ellering are with Ken Resnick in the dressing room. The Warriors are sweating and their paint is peeling. Ellering is holding an icepack on his head and looks like he is hurting.
RESNICK: World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors and Precious Paul Ellering are with me. The odds were in your favor, but now Reed & Atlas have the cage match!
ANIMAL: Yeah, but they needed a stinkin’ chair to get the job done, didn’t they? Inside of a cage, there won’t be no stinkin’ chairs! No Curt Hennig to save your butts, either!
HAWK: I can’t wait to get you in that cage, Reed! Same for you, Atlas! We’re gonna rip your heads off and break your backs! There’s gonna be blood, guts, and then, then, we’ll just hurt you!
ELLERING: Men, I must apologize. I underestimated just how low that those thugs would stoop! Atlas and Reed are like two puppies chasing an 18 wheeler…What are they going to do with it when they catch it? You’ve caught the big rig, you pups, and now, it’s gonna run you down! Cage match? Come into my parlor said the spiders to the flies!

Steve O vs. Ben Alexander:Steve O looks really good in this match, totally outwrestling Alexander and pinning him after a backslide.
VTR:
Superstar Graham is in the dressing room with Paul Ellering standing by his side.
GRAHAM: Feast your eyes on the most amazing physical specimen on the planet, daddy! And the most amazing mind on the planet! I am undefeated since coming to the AWA, the leading wrestling organization in the universe! Precious Paul, can you do it? Can you bring me the AWA Champion of the galaxy, little pretty boy Ricky Martel?
ELLERING: Lord James Blears and the powers that be in the AWA can no longer ignore the Superstar! Rick Martel, do you honestly think that you measure up to the Superstar in any way? The Legion of Doom has had the World Tag Team Titles for most of 1984! Before 1985 begins, the Superstar will bring the World Heavyweight Title to the Legion!
GRAHAM: When I put that belt around this beautiful, slender waist, I will defend against any and all contenders! Nobody will be ducked, dodged, or denied! 1985 will be the year of the Superstar!

Pez Whatley & Mil Mascaras vs. Bob Bradley & Davey O’Hannon: Pez & Mil make a unique, but popular team. Bradley & O’Hannon have their moments, but a flying headbutt from “Pistol” gets the pin on O’Hannon.
VTR:
Rick Martel is standing by with Ken Resnick in the dressing room. Martel is dressed in a suit and holding the AWA World Title belt in his arm.
RESNICK: I’m here with our World Champion Rick Martel. Earlier tonight, you defeated a brutal opponent in Nikolai Volkoff. Next week, here on ALL STAR WRESTLING, you will defend the title against a great opponent in Lars Anderson! You are truly a fighting champion!
MARTEL: That’s what the AWA World Title is supposed to be about! Verne Gagne started the tradition many years ago and I do my best to carry on with it. I just want to be a World Champion that the people can be proud of and the kids can look up to…
SUPERSTAR GRAHAM & PAUL ELLERING ENTER THE LOCKER ROOM!
ELLERING: RICKY MARTEL! The Superstar is undefeated in the AWA! Do you have the guts to face him? Or do you want to spend your time kissing up to old man Gagne and the fnas?
MARTEL: I’ll wrestle him or anybody else who deserves a match!
GRAHAM: I’ll break you in half and take that belt, Ricky! I am the next World Champion!
MARTEL: You can’t win it by yelling in a dressing room! I want this match signed!
RESNICK: I’m sure that can be arranged!
