AWA ALL STAR WRESTLING
Taped October 22, 1984 to air across the territory on October 26, 1984 at the studios of KMSP TV in Minneapolis. Rod Trongard on commentary and Ken Resnick as ring announcer and interviewer.
After the opening, we cut to Ken Reanick and Rod Trongard in front of the AWA logo.
RESNICK: Welcome to All Star Wrestling. We have a great lineup of stars and two great challenge matches!
TRONGARD: The Fabulous One has been challenged by Jack Brisco. These two me are former friends and, like most of us, jack is not happy with Steve Keirn’s change of attitude! They will meet here today on All Star Wrestling!
RESNICK: Last week, Superstar Graham challenged the Hennigs on behalf of himself and his Legion Of Doom colleague, the Barbarian. Larry and Curt Hennig don’t back away from a challenge and we’ll have that bout for you!
TRONGARD: All of the World Champions are here. Rick Martel as well as the Road Warriors. Tony Atlas & Butch Reed, one of the most exciting teams to hit the AWA in a long time will be in our first match.
RESNICK: Another great hour of the best in professional wrestling starts after this!
COMMERCIAL
Hacksaw Butch Reed & “Mr.USA” Tony Atlas vs. Davey O’Hannon & Goldie Rogers: Reed & Atlas put on an awesome display of power as Atlas puts Rogers away after a huge press slam.
RESNICK: Butch Reed and Tony Atlas have joined me here. You men have your sights set on the AWA World Tag Team Titles.
REED: We’ve fought Hawk & Animal a few times already and it’s like a street fight every time. That’s ok, I like a good street fight and Tony here can handle any situation. We’re gonna take those belts, sooner or later. It won’t be easy, but I promise you fans that we’re gonna do it!
ATLAS: The paint and the loud music and the spikes scare some people, but I don’t spook easy, Hawk & Animal! Yeah, you got big muscles, but look at Butch and me! (flexes) We can match you muscle for muscle, power for power! This is a big opportunity. There have never been black tag team champions in the AWA and we’d like to show all of the kids that they can do anything they set their minds to!
RESNICK: Well, you two are certainly good examples for young people of any background and I’m sure you will make your fans proud. We’ll be right back!
COMMERCIALS
The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) vs. Angelo Mosca, Jr. & Gerald Finley: Rod Trongard fills the fans in on Mosca’s background and credentials early on. Mosca gets more offense in than a a typical Warriors TV opponent would, but once Finley is in, it quickly becomes a typical one-sided beating. Almost as an answer to Atlas’ finish in the previous match, Animal gets the pin on Finley after a huge press slam.
RESNICK: I’m joined by the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering after another impressive win.
ELLERING: I heard the little inspirational speeches out here and my heart was touched. Tony Atlas and Butch Reed, this isn’t baseball and you two aren’t Jackie Robinson! You resemble Gerald Finley more than you resemble Hawk & Animal and you’ll wind up the same way!
ANIMAL: Kids, you can do anything you set your minds to except one thing and that’s beating the Warriors! We’re like the big kid who takes your lunch money and beats you up! The Legion of Doom rules the AWA and nobody can stop us! Curt and Larry Hennig, the Superstar and the Barbarian are gonna break you in half and leave you for dead!
HAWK: Atlas and Reed, we know what color your skin is. I can’t wait to see what shade of red your blood is! (flexes) Mr. USA, meet Mr. Universe! We don’t care about no stinkin’ bodybuilding even though we could win any contest we wanted to! We’re interested in holding these belts and beating people up!
COMMERCIAL
The Fabulous One vs. Jack Brisco:This is a very even matchup with neither man holding an advantage for long. Finally, brisco manages to apply his vaunted figure four leglock! Baby Doll, who has not interfered to this point, rolls into the ring and starts slugging away on Brisco! Baby Doll is not exactly a petite little valet and she causes jack to break the hold! The ref DQs Keirn for the interference. It looks like Jack is about to retaliate against Baby Doll, but the Fabulous One lands a sucker punch to Jack’s head and leaves the ring with baby Doll!
RESNICK: I’m joined by the Fabulous One and Baby Doll….
FABULOUS ONE: Jack Brisco! Don’t you ever raise a hand to the Queen Of Wrestling! The Fabulous One is rockin’ and rollin’, baby! I gave up on the Verne Gagne style of wrestling, which is pretty much the same as the Jack Brisco style: shake hands and roll around on the mat like some Greco-Roman schoolboy wrestler! Now, I’d rather punch you in the mouth than shake your hand! And if you start trying to cripple me with illegal holds, I’ve got somebody here who won’t stand for it!
RESNICK: The figure four is illegal? It looked to me like you were in trouble and Baby Doll interefered!
BABY DOLL: I was protecting what’s mine. The Fabulous One and I enjoy the best of everything and we can’t do that if his leg is broken! Jack Brisco, there’s a reason why Texas girls like me don’t like Oklahoma boys! How dare you lay a hand on me? You’re obviously not a gentleman like Steve here. The Fabulous One is better than you in every way!
RESNICK: World Champion Rick Martel is up next!
FABULOUS ONE: Martel, you better polish my belt!

Rick Martel vs. Paul Demarco: In this non-title bout, the World Champion puts on a fantastic display of talent, defeating Demarco after a slingshot splash.[/b]
RESNICK: I’m joined by the World Champion Rick martel, who looked very impressive this week!
MARTEL: Thank you, Ken. Paul Demarco is a veteran and not to be taken lightly. As World Champion, I can’t take any wrestler lightly. Paul Ellering has several men in his Legion of Doom who could give me a great match. Nick Bockwinkel and his group are all great wrestlers. The Sheik has unlimited funds to hire the top wrestlers to come and take this belt back to Japan. Steve Keirn, Billy Robinson, Mil Mascaras, Curt Hennig…the AWA has a long list of great wrestlers and they are all in this business for one thing:(holds up title belt) To take this belt, the greatest prize in the sport of wrestling! I thank all of yopu great AWA fans for your support. I will need it to continue on as your champion!
RESNICK: We have a great tag team match when we return!

Curt & Larry Hennig vs. The Barbarian & Superstar Graham:The Hennig war on the Legion Of Doom continues with this battle. Larry starts out and brawls with both opponents. Graham and barbarian get an advantage and work “the Ax” over pretty good before he manages to tag Curt, who comes in like a hurricane with chops, punches, forearms, and dropkicks! The bout spills to the studio floor and both teams brawl! Ellering gets involved and turns the tide for his men and the Hennigs take a pretty good pounding until Tony Atlas and Butch Reed make the save!
