STAMPEDE WRESTLING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1984
1pm - 2pm
TAPED ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 AT THE VICTORIA PAVILION IN CALGARY, ALBERTA
ED WHALEN opens the show at ringside and welcomes us to STAMPEDE WRESTLING!
WHALEN runs down some of the matches we’ll see today, including Jim Neidhart and Bobby Duncum taking on the Masked Superstar and Super Destroyer, Bruce Hart facing Adrian Street in a non-title match, and a main event of epic proportions, as new North American Champ Bret Hart teams up with the North American tag team Champions Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith, to face the man Bret took the NA title from, Bad News Allen, and the Masters of Disaster, Kerry Brown and Kelly Kiniski!
VTR: Bret Hart defeating Bad News Allen in a Harlem Streetfight last Saturday night in Edmonton to win the North American title.
WHALEN talks about Bret wrestling against doctor’s orders, and coming out victorious against Allen in the Harlem Streetfight, although JR Foley played a part in that, and Whalen says that he’s heard Allen is not too happy with his manager costing him the NA title.
GREAT GAMA (w/ JR Foley) V. THE COBRA, JIP – the masked man from Japan gives Gama a tough match, but in the end, Gama gets the win with a Sunset Flip.

JIM NEIDHART & BOBBY DUNCUM V. THE MASKED SUPERSTAR & THE SUPER DESTROYER (w/ Bobby Heenan), JIP – There’s nothing pretty about this one, as the two teams tear into each other and throw scientific wrestling out the window. By the end of the match, Neidhart is bleeding, and part of the Super Destroyer’s mask has been torn, though his face is still covered. As all four men brawl in the ring, using a chair that Super Destroyer had brought into the ring earlier, referee Wayne Hart calls for the bell, and declares the match a Double DQ!
The wrestlers don’t seem to care, or even notice that the match has ended, they continue to brawl, eventually moving to the arena floor. While Duncum and Superstar brawl into the front rows of seats, Neidhart and Super D brawl to the back.
WHALEN, standing in the ring, says that nothing was settled in that match, and then introduces his guest “ADORABLE” ADRIAN STREET. Street is carrying a small mirror, and spends several minutes fussing with his hair. Whalen is finally able to tear Street away from the mirror, and says that he’s got a big match coming up in just a little bit, he’ll face Bruce Hart, and if he’s victorious, he’ll get a shot at the British Columbian Mid-Heavyweight title.
STREET says that it’s not a matter of IF he’s victorious, but WHEN he’s victorious. The outcome of the match is already a foregone conclusion, there’s no doubt in his mind, or anyone elses, that he will be victorious.
WHALEN says that remains to be seen, and then intros a special music video featuring Adrian Street.

NON-TITLE MATCH:
BRUCE HART V. “ADORABLE” ADRIAN STREET, JIP – Most of the fans in attendance at the Victoria Pavilion, and watching at home, may consider Street somewhat…unusual, to say the least, but there’s no denying what a talented wrestler he is. Bruce and Street put on a wrestling clinic, applying holds, only to have the other counter them, and they throw in some high-flying moves for good measure.
Bruce Hart has the match in hand, but the tables turn when Street sidesteps an attempted dropkick from Bruce, then bounces off the ropes, as Bruce gets back to his feet, and connects with a diving forearm smash. That puts Bruce back on the mat, and Street goes to the top rope, delivering a flying splash for the 1, 2, 3!
Adrian Street has pinned the British Columbian Mid-Heavyweight Champ in a non-title match!
WHALEN climbs into the ring as Street walks off, arms raised in victory, and Ed conducts an interview with Bruce Hart. Bruce says that Street got the better of him here, but it won’t happen again.

As we return from the break, there’s some commotion, and BOBBY DUNCUM and THE MASKED SUPERSTAR burst through the curtain, and brawl down the aisle and towards the ring!
They destroy the ringside area, knocking over the timekeeper’s table, and Duncum grabs the timekeeper’s bell, then bashing Superstar over the head with it! Superstar drives a knee into Duncum’s stomach, doubling the cowboy over, and then repeatedly slams Duncum’s head into the steel guardrail!
The brawl continues for several more minutes, until a group of wrestlers, referees and security personnel are able to separate the two. At one point, they both break free, and continue to throw punches at each other, before they’re pulled apart again. Finally both men are dragged away, and the head of the security team tells Whalen that they will both be removed from the building.
WHALEN talks about a man that’s on his way to Stampede Wrestling, known as Honky Tonk Wayne.
We see footage of Honky Tonk Wayne in action in other territories, followed by comments from Wayne, saying he’s on his way to Calgary, and when he arrives, Stampede Wrestling will never be the same again!

ED WHALEN conducts an in-ring interview with JIM NEIDHART. Neidhart, who’s head is heavily bandaged after the tag team match earlier, talks about the match, and says that Superstar and Super D may have busted him open, and put 6 stitches in his head, but that’s nothing compared to what he and Duncum will do to them the next time they meet! He says that it doesn’t even have to be in the ring, it could be in the dressing room, the parking lot, even in an alley somewhere, it doesn’t matter to him, all he cares about is getting his hands on the two masked men and tearing them apart!
BRET HART & DAVEY BOY SMITH & DYNAMITE KID V. BAD NEWS ALLEN & KERRY BROWN & KELLY KINISKI (w/ JR Foley), JIP – This match is a wild one, as we regularly see all six men brawl in the ring. The TV portion of the match starts at about the 12-minute mark, and continues from there.
Bad News Allen gets Bret Hart in the ring, and gives the new North American Champ a vicious beating! Whalen says that the referee might want to think about stopping the match, as Allen obviously has no interest in pinning Hart, he wants to cripple him! Allen tosses Bret out of the ring, and continues to assault him on the floor, repeatedly hitting him with a chair!
While that’s going on, Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid have entered the ring, and they square off with the Masters of Disaster.
Outside the ring, Allen is still beating on Bret, until Bruce Hart and Gerry Morrow come out to check on the North American Champion. They chase Allen away, and then help Bret to his feet, but he can’t even stand on his own, and falls back to the floor.
Inside the ring, referee Cedric Hathaway was able to get Dynamite Kid and Kerry Brown out of the ring, leaving Davey Boy and Kelly Kiniski in the ring, apparently as the legal men, though neither Bret nor Allen tagged out.
Davey Boy gets the upper hand, and after dropping Kiniski with three consecutive dropkicks, he heads to the top rope. As he stands on the top rope, waiting for Kiniski to get up, JOHNNY SMITH rushes down to the ring and jumps up on the apron.
As Johnny hits the ring, JR Foley gets up on the apron as well, and gets the attention of the referee. Johnny Smith pushes his brother off the top rope, sending him crashing to the mat.
When Cedric Hathaway turns around, all he sees is Davey Boy lying on the mat, and Kelly Kiniski covering him. Hathaway counts the 1, 2, 3 . . . Kelly Kiniski has pinned Davey Boy Smith, with an assist from Davey Boy’s brother Johnny Smith!
Bret Hart is still unable to stand on his own, so Bruce Hart and Gerry Morrow help him up and help him to the back, as Allen stands on the apron, taunting Bret, and telling him to get out of wrestling now, while he still can, because if he sticks around, Allen is going to break every bone in his body!
WHALEN talks about next week’s show, which will see Leo Burke and Mr. Hito in tag team action, as well as Jim Neidhart teaming up with Gerry Morrow to face the Masked Superstar and Super Destroyer, and North American Champ Bret Hart defends the title against the former Champion, Bad News Allen!
