-We go now to Channel 5 Studios here in Memphis to Lance Russell and Dave Brown-
Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to “Championship Wrestling ‘84”, and then mention that they have to start off the show with bad news. They bring out Jerry “The King” Lawler, who appears less gregarious as usual. They show the VTR footage from the Mid South Coliseum, where Southern Champion King Kong Bundy splashed “Macho Man” Randy Savage through a table. The footage ends with Savage being carted out on a stretcher. They go back to the studio where Lawler informs Lance and Dave that Savage suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung from Bundy’s sick stunt, and will be out of action for some time. Lawler wishes the Macho Man a speedy recovery, but then mentions he’s not sure what they are going to do about his and Savage’s scheduled match against Bundy and Rick Rude this Monday night.
This brings out a gleeful Jimmy Hart and First Family members Ravishing Rick Rude and the Southern Heavyweight Champion King Kong Bundy. Lawler asks just what Hart is laughing about and says he will just get another partner for Monday night. Jimmy tells Lawler to check the match contract again! Lawler, Dave and Lance wonder what Jimmy Hart means, until Eddie Marlin comes out and says Hart had his lawyers include a clause in the contract saying partners cannot be substituted. Lance then puts it together that Hart had Bundy purposefully injure Savage, so that the First Family could get Lawler alone in the ring!
Eddie Marlin tells Lawler that the best solution is for Jerry just to forfeit this match and then he will sign a singles match between The King and Bundy. Hart says that Lawler is a chicken if he goes for that! Lawler tells Marlin that he is not about to forfeit anything to Jimmy Hart and if the First Family want him in a handicap match, they’ve got it! Lawler says he’s making his goal of knocking Bundy off the top of the mountain before the end of 1984 and Monday is as good a time as any to start! Marlin doesn’t like this at all, but Jimmy Hart does! Hart cackles as he leads Bundy and Rude to the ring.
MATCH: KING KONG BUNDY, RICK RUDE & PLAYBOY FRAZIER w/ Jimmy Hart vs. THE MASKED NIGHTMARES & RANDY BARBER
Bundy wins the fall by pinfall @ 6:11 with a big splash on Randy Barber… Jimmy Hart is positively gleeful at pulling his big scam as Rude, Bundy and Frazier beat down all three of their opponents. The finish sees Rude use a spinning neck-breaker, and then tags in Bundy. The Southern Heavyweight Champion comes off the ropes with a splash to score the win.[/i]
CWA matchmaker Eddie Marlin is still out with Lance Russell and says he thinks he has figured out the CWA Tag Team Title situation. Marlin says he’s very sad to see what has gone down with Dutch Mantell and Tommy Rich, but new champions need to be crowned. So one week from this Monday, there will be a one night tournament featuring eight teams.
Eddie Marlin mentions that Rich and Mantell with both be able to pick a partner to team with, and Jerry Lawler will get the same privilege because Randy Savage is out of action. He asks that they announce their partners right here next week on “Championship Wrestling ‘84”.
Here are the teams competing:
The Rock n’ Roll Express
Jerry “The King” Lawler & Partner of his choice
The Moondogs
The New Generation
Dutch Mantell & Partner of his choice
Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Gilbert
Tommy Rich & Partner of his choice
King Kong Bundy & “Ravishing” Rick Rude

CWA Heavyweight Champion “Hotstuff” Eddie Gilbert and his father Tommy Gilbert have joined Lance Russell and Dave Brown. Eddie is annoyed that Lance and Dave promoted Bill Dundee’s return, and didn’t promote his father Tommy Gilbert’s return to CWA. Eddie says it’s much bigger news that his father is back, then seeing those carpet baggers Bill Dundee and the Rock n’ Roll Express! Eddie says he is sick and tired of his family not getting the respect it deserves around here.
“Superstar” Bill Dundee makes his way out at this point and shakes hands with some of the fans. Dundee interrupts by joking that he may have been gone awhile, but he sees Eddie Gilbert is whining and crying! Eddie doesn’t like and tells Dundee to go back to Mid-South Wrestling, where people might actually want to see him! Dundee laughs and says he doesn’t understand why Eddie is so upset, but the Gilberts can try to shut him up any time they want!
Tommy Gilbert insults Dundee a little bit, but Bill interrupts with an offer for Eddie. Bill wants to come back with a bang, either a positive one or a negative one. How about Eddie steps into the ring with him right now for that CWA Heavyweight Title and if Eddie wins, Dundee will walk right out the door and leave CWA again! Jimmy Hart is out now and urges Eddie not to do it, but the Gilberts convince Hart that they have it under control! Eddie agrees to the match and heads to the ring, as Eddie Marlin comes out and tells Lance Russell and Dave Brown that the title match is sanctioned!
MATCH TWO: CWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION “HOTSTUFF” EDDIE GILBERT w/ Tommy Gilbert & Jimmy Hart vs. “SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE
Dundee rolls up Gilbert at 13:34 to win the title by pinfall… Tommy Gilbert and Jimmy Hart try to interfere at every pass, but out come the Rock n’ Roll Express to thwart them. Dundee and Eddie score near falls on each other in the ring. Tommy tries to slug Dundee later in the match to cause a disqualification, but the Rock n’ Rolls grab him and deck him! Eddie charges over to grab them, but Dundee rolls them up from behind to score the win! Dundee celebrates with the Rock n’ Roll Express on the floor, while Eddie Gilbert, Jimmy Hart and Tommy Gilbert go nuts in the ring.[/i]
Lance Russell and Dave Brown then introduce a special video from a Russian wrestler wrestling at the Mid South Coliseum this Monday night. This is Korchenko!
Lance Russell and Dave Brown announce that Korchenko will face the legendary Rufus R. “Freight Train” Jones this Monday night in Memphis!

Tommy Rich is with Lance Russell as we come back from breaking. They show a VTR package highlighting his problems with Dutch Mantell. Rich then explains to Lance that he does not understand what is gong on with Mantell. Tommy says he hit a stretch of bad luck and he thought Dutch would understand, but obviously that isn’t the case. Dutch clearly wants to make things personal and he proved that by cheating him last week. Rich says he’s looking for payback on Monday and he is also keeping an eye out for a tag team partner for the upcoming Southern Tag Team Title tournament.
MATCH: TRACY SMOTHERS vs. DAVID OSWALD
Smothers scores the win with a super kick at 5:45 by pinfall… Smothers continues to impress and this team he is control of the contest. Tracy manages to off-set Oswald’s every attempt for an offensive move. Tommy Rich had stayed with Lance Russell at ringside for commentary and he praises Smothers. Tracy gets the win by ducking a clothesline and landing a big kick to the chin for the win…[/i]
Tracy Smothers has his hand raised after the match, and then is met at ringside by Tommy Rich. Rich can be seen complimenting him and he gives the young star a round of applause.
Jerry “The King” Lawler is back out and tells Lance Russell and Dave Brown that he might be on his own in the ring on Monday, but he has someone to watch his back. Lawler tells Lance that last Monday showed him that he had go back to his old ways to get rid of Bundy, Hart and Rude. Well, the old King sometimes made deals with the devil to get things done. Lawler says that he’s called a man known the world over as an assassin and a sharpshooter of sorts and he has agreed to pay this man $10,000 to stand by his side and do anything necessary to help him rid CWA of the First Family. Lance tells The King that he doesn’t like the sound of this, but Lawler said his mind his made up and this man will be at the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday!

And then he will get his CWA Title back from the biggest cheater in wrestling today – “Superstar” Bill Dundee! Gilbert storms off as Lance and Dave send us up to the ring.
TV MAIN EVENT: THE MONGOLIAN STOMPER VS. “JYD” NORVELL AUSTIN
The Stomper scores the win at 7:11 via pinfall with a running boot to the forehead of the JYD… This is the Stomper’s first appearance on CWA in quite some time and he looks fierce as he talks down Norvell. Austin is a tough customer so he gives plenty of fight back to the Stomper. The finish sees Austin miss a flying clotheline and then eat a boot to the chin to get pinned.[/i]
Jimmy Hart is out next with “Ravishing” Rick Rude and Hart is none too pleased about Jerry Lawler’s declaration earlier. Lance Russell says it sounds like Hart is just upset that his grand scheme might not go as planned. Hart tells Lance to can it and then says Lawler is not allowed to bring just anyone to the ring with him. You have to have a manager’s license to be at ringside! Eddie Marlin makes his way out at this point and says the problem it solves because he is granting Lawler’s associate – whoever he or she is – a special one night manager’s license. Hart and Rude complain to Eddie as they walk to the back, while we go to our last commercial break.
