KENJI WAKABAYASHI, KOTETSU YAMAMOTO and GIANT BABA open the show.
They welcome us to this week’s episode of the World Wrestling Kingdom!
We’ve got four big matches lined up today!
Former World Jr heavyweight champ Chavo Guerrero squares off with another top Jr heavyweight in Masanobu Fuchi!
The Young Gunns, Shane Douglas and Johnny Gunn, will face the rookie pair of Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Yoshinari Ogawa!
Then, Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi face the British duo of Mark Rocco and Fit Finlay!
And, we have a HUGE main event! Last week, Antonio Inoki returned to Japan, to help out Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami. This week, Jumbo, Fujinami and Inoki will meet Stan Hansen, Masa Saito and King’s Crown champion Genichiro Tenryu in 6-man tag team action!
We also received word that a familiar face is returning to Japan. Tiger Jeet Singh has wreaked havoc across the country for years, and he’s on his way back!
Before we get to the opening bout, Yamamoto draws our attention to a raised platform a little ways from the ring. On the platform is Genichiro Tenryu, seated on his throne, wearing the King’s Crown. Masa Saito, Shinya Hashimoto and Toshiaki Kawada are all standing nearby.
CHAVO GUERRERO beats MASANOBU FUCHI. Chavo wins an exciting match when he locks Fuchi in the Gori Special for the submission.
VTR: Last Week On World Wrestling Kingdom:
Tsuruta comes to the aid of his friend, and with Fujinami down and out on the floor after the Lariat, Tsuruta tears into Hansen! The two men pummel each other, until Tenryu and Saito jump Tsuruta from behind, and we get a 3-on-1 beatdown!
While this is going on, referee Tiger Hattori reaches the count of 20, and calls for the bell, declaring this a double count-out!
That doesn’t seem to matter to Tenryu, Saito and Hansen, as they continue to pummel Tsuruta on the floor! Fujinami is back up, and tries to help Jumbo, but he’s dropped to the floor again!
Suddenly, the crowd errupts . . . ANTONIO INOKI ARRIVES ON THE SCENE!!!
Inoki, in a suit and tie, pulls off his jacket and tie, tossing them aside, and jumps into the fray! Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi aren’t far behind, and the People’s Army slowly gets the upper hand, eventually chasing the heels off!
END VTR
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba discuss the footage we just saw, saying it led to our 6-man tag team main event here today!
THE YOUNG GUNNS: SHANE DOUGLAS & JOHNNY GUNN defeat TSUYOSHI KIKUCHI & YOSHINARI OGAWA. The rookies Kikuchi and Ogawa show a lot of promise here, but in the end, they fall in defeat when Gunn hoists Ogawa up on his shoulders in a sitting postion, and Douglas hits a dropkick off the top rope on Ogawa!
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba talk about Tiger Jeet Singh. Wakabayashi says that Singh’s legend in Japan was built on bloody and broken foes!
We see some clips of Singh destroying his opponents, as well as brawling with Antonio Inoki in a shopping centre in the 1970s!
We cut to Tiger Jeet Singh somewhere outdoors. He says that for many years, he has instilled fear in the hearts of the Japanese fans, and the wrestlers! He chuckles and says that, all of the carnage and chaos he caused is NOTHING compared to what’s coming!
Then Singh is joined in the shot by Abdullah the Butcher, The Sheik, Ivan Koloff and Jos LeDuc!
Tiger says that these are the most feared, the most violent, and the most EVIL men in wrestling! He says that these men hail from all across the globe, but they have one thing in common . . . they’ve all been exiled from their home countries! He’s brought them all together here in Japan . . . and very soon, he’s going to unleash them on the World Wrestling Kingdom!
Singh says that with these men, he will bring the WWK and the entire country to it’s knees, and he says that Japan will never, ever be the same!
Wakabayashi is shocked, and all he can say is “God help us!”
MITSUHARU MISAWA & KENTA KOBASHI defeat FIT FINLAY & MARK ROCCO. Kobashi, the “super rookie” as he’s called, is improving by leaps and bounds with each and every match. Here, he holds his own against the rugged British duo. Misawa and Kobashi get the win when Misawa pins Finlay after the Tiger Driver!
JUMBO TSURUTA & TATSUMI FUJINAMI & ANTONIO INOKI (w/ Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi) defeat GENICHIRO TENRYU & MASA SAITO & STAN HANSEN (w/ Toshiaki Kawada & Shinya Hashimoto). About 12 minutes of the 20-minute match airs on television.
There’s no love lost between these two sides, the People’s Army and Ishin-gundan! They tear into each other as soon as the bell sounds, and it becomes obvious right from the start that referee Joe Higuchi is going to have his hands full! We even see some scuffles on the floor between Misawa and Kobashi and the Ishin-gundan team of Hashimoto and Kawada!
After a wild, hard-hitting battle, the People’s Army are the ones to get their hands raised, when Jumbo Tsuruta drives Masa Saito into the mat with the Backdrop Suplex for the 1, 2, 3!
After the decision is announced, Jumbo Tsuruta takes the house mic from the ring announcer, and tells Genichiro Tenryu that he’s coming for the King’s Crown!
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
