They welcome us to this week’s episode of the World Wrestling Kingdom!
We have four big matches on tap today!
The Young Gunns, Shane Douglas and Johnny Gunn, will face Mighty Inoue and Shinichi Nakano!
The super rookie, Kenta Kobashi, will square off with Shunji Takano!
Shinya Hashimoto and Toshiaki Kawada will meet the British duo of Mark Rocco and Fit Finlay!
And, our big feature bout is a tag team match. Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami, representing the People’s Army, square off with Ishin-gundan members Masa Saito and King’s Crown champion Genichiro Tenryu!
VTR: Last Week On World Wrestling Kingdom:
Hansen probably could’ve ended the match within the first minute or two, but he seemed to be enjoying hurting Inoue! Hansen finally ends things after hitting Inoue with a devastating Western Lariat for the 1, 2, 3!
After the match, Genichiro Tenryu takes the house mic from Takashi Yamada, and announces that he and Saito have reached an agreement with Stan Hansen, and Hansen is now a member of Ishin-gundan!
END VTR
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba talk about Stan Hansen joining the Ishin-gundan group. Baba says that Hansen is a devastating force of nature, and Tenryu made a very smart decision by bringing the big Texan into the Ishin-gundan fold!
THE YOUNG GUNNS: SHANE DOUGLAS & JOHNNY GUNN defeat MIGHTY INOUE & SHINICHI NAKANO. The Young Gunns get the win when Johnny Gunn catches Nakano with a flying bodypress off the top rope for the 1, 2, 3!
KENTA KOBASHI beats SHUNJI TAKANO. The “super rookie” continues to impress here, as he gets the win over Takano after moving out of the way as Shunji charged at him in the corner. Takano ran into the turnbuckles, with Kobashi then rolling him up for the 1, 2, 3!
VTR: Last Week on World Wrestling Kingdom:
Before the start of the main event, Genichiro Tenryu and Masa Saito enter the ring. Saito is holding something, but it’s covered by a bag.
Tenryu says that he’s been thinking, and he’s not sure that this title belt really conveys what the King’s Crown championship is all about! He removes the King’s Crown title belt from around his waist, and takes it over to WWK Chairman Lord James Blears, who is sitting at the timekeeper’s table.
Tenryu then says that he had something made, that he feels is much more representative of him and the King’s Crown title.
He pulls the bag off the object that Saito’s holding . . . and reveals a big crown!
Tenryu puts the crown on his head, and says that this is much better! He says that from now on, this beautiful crown will represent the King’s Crown championship!
END VTR
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba talk about what we just saw. Wakabayashi says that Tenryu has some nerve, replacing that title belt with a crown!
Yamamoto says that it looks as though Tenryu isn’t done yet, as the camera pans to a spot away from the ring.
There, we see a platform set up, with a throne on top of it! Tenryu, with the King’s Crown on his head, takes a seat in the throne!
Masa Saito is with him, and he hands Tenryu a microphone. Genichiro says that from this spot, the King can preside over his kingdom!
Baba says that this is ridiculous, and he hopes that someone will bring Tenryu back down to earth soon!
TOSHIAKI KAWADA & SHINYA HASHIMOTO (w/ Masa Saito) defeat FIT FINLAY & MARK ROCCO. We’re treated to a great match here, with the fast-paced, rough-and-tumble style of Finlay and Rocco, against the hard-hitting striking style of Hash and Kawada! At one point in the match, the camera pans over to Tenryu on his throne, as he cheers on the members of his Ishin-gundan!
The full 12 minute match is shown on TV, and in the end, Kawada gets the win for his team, after nailing Rocco in the jaw with a vicious roundhouse kick, knocking Rocco senseless! Kawada then covers him for the 1, 2, 3!
It’s time for the main event, as Genichiro Tenryu and Masa Saito make their way from the throne area to the ring.
JUMBO TSURUTA & TATSUMI FUJINAMI battle GENICHIRO TENRYU & MASA SAITO (w/ Stan Hansen) to a wild DOUBLE COUNT-OUT.
There is plenty of bad blood here, and as a result, we see less of a wrestling match, and more of an out and out brawl! Late in the match, the battle moves to the floor, and Stan Hansen gets involved, clobbering Fujinami with a Lariat!
Tsuruta comes to the aid of his friend, and with Fujinami down and out on the floor after the Lariat, Tsuruta tears into Hansen! The two men pummel each other, until Tenryu and Saito jump Tsuruta from behind, and we get a 3-on-1 beatdown!
While this is going on, referee Tiger Hattori reaches the count of 20, and calls for the bell, declaring this a double count-out!
That doesn’t seem to matter to Tenryu, Saito and Hansen, as they continue to pummel Tsuruta on the floor! Fujinami is back up, and tries to help Jumbo, but he’s dropped to the floor again!
Suddenly, the crowd errupts . . . ANTONIO INOKI ARRIVES ON THE SCENE!!!
Inoki, in a suit and tie, pulls off his jacket and tie, tossing them aside, and jumps into the fray! Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi aren’t far behind, and the People’s Army slowly gets the upper hand, eventually chasing the heels off!
Wakabayashi, Yamamoto and Baba wrap things up, and hype next week’s show.
