“Catch Cavalcade Eliminator: Night 1
World Junior Heavyweight Champion”
Bremen, Germany
Stadhalle
‘Big’ Otto Wanz opens the show by welcoming fans to this summertime spectacular, taking place over this week here in Bremen to crown the new EWU World Champions. Wanz announces a press conference will take place formally announcing EWU next week in London where all of the participating countries will be represented and huge stadium card will be announced for the end of summer - to be shown here in Germany on Eurosport and other local channels across Europe and beyond. Because of the varying styles, EWU will have single-fall matches in most cases but will use the round system for special championship contests.
Wanz announces tonight, we will crown the new EWU World Junior Heavyweight Champion, on Friday it will be the EWU World Tag Team Champions, and then on Sunday, it will be a huge eliminator for the EWU World Heavyweight Championship. Wanz announces he’s going for the World Heavyweight Championship and he plans to win it!
World Junior Heavyweight Championship
Brackets: Quarter-Finals
Steven Regal
Scott Anthony
Robbie Brookside
Marty Jones
Flying Scorpio
Fuji Yamada
Black Tiger
Sabu
World Junior Heavyweight Championship Eliminator: Quarter Finals
Steven Regal forced Scott Anthony to submit when he was able to trap the American wrestler in the STF. Anthony insisted he hadn’t submitted after the match, but wasn’t willing to take Regal up on restarting the match.
Marty Jones pinned Robbie Brookside with a double undertook suplex bridged into a pin. Brookside nearly had the pin after a spinning head-scissors out of the corner, but missed a flying knee off the top rope.
Fuji Yamada pinned Flying Scorpio with a twisting splash off the top rope. Yamada was lightning quick, much like his two predecessors. Scorpio dazzled with his innovative offensive style too, but he couldn’t topple the experience edge by Yamada.
Black Tiger pinned Sabu with the rollerball splash of the second rope. Sabu was a wild man, but was slowed down in the end by the masked Black Tiger and laid out after a tiger suplex and then a rollerball splash.
World Junior Heavyweight Championship Eliminator: Semi Finals
Steven Regal vs. Marty Jones
Fuji Yamada vs. Black Tiger
Steven Regal pinned Marty Jones with a small package. Jones managed to tie up Regal on the canvas early, nearly forcing a submission at several points. When Jones eventually went for the octopus hold, young Regal pulled the veteran through with a small package to advance to the finals.
Black Tiger pinned Fuji Yamada with a running tombstone. Yamada and the masked Tiger both were cautious as they grappled early. Fuji manages to rock Black Tiger with a series if vicious dropkicks and suplexes, but Black Tiger blocks one and plants Yamada with a running tombstone. A devastating finisher - and Yamada has to be helped out of the ring!
The finals have been set: Steve Regal versus Black Tiger.
Interval Match
Otto Wanz and Rambo defeated Curtis ‘The Big Cat’ Hughes and Cannoball Grizzly when Wanz pinned Hughes following the cannonball into the corner.
World Junior Heavyweight Championship Eliminator: Finals
Steven Regal pinned Black Tiger with a sunset flip off the second rope. Black Tiger plays is straight here as he tries to use an arsenal of suplexes and rolling kicks to wear down Regal. Regal is in serious trouble and is nearly counted out at one point, before diving back in the ring and avoiding the title changing hands on a disputed finish. Regal withstands the rollerball off the second rope and kicks out of a pin. Black Tiger then goes to plant Regal with a Tiger Suppler, but Regal rolls forward to pull Tiger into a cradle for a three count!
Steven Regal wins the EWU World Junior Heavyweight Championship!
Following the match, EWU representatives Otto Wanz, Lord Alfred Hayes and Orig Williams present Regal with the championship battle. Black Tiger approaches and offers to strap the title around Regal’s waist, but instead whacks him with it and then lays him out with a tombstone piledriver on the belt! Panic ensues in the ring as Wantz and Williams isolate Black Tiger so he cannot do any more damage. Paramedics are called and eventually Regal is rushed from the ring without moving while Black Tiger simply looks on.
