We'll also see “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer put the UWA TV belt up against Shaun Simpson, out of South Africa!
MARSHALL: Only the United Wrestling Alliance gives you two championship matches on one TV program! That's because you fans are the best and you deserve the best! We have a match in the ring!

Big John Studd (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. Alan West & George South: Studd takes on both opponents at the same time, they don't have to tag in! It doesn't help as the big fella dominates! First, Studd piledrives and pins South. Then, he hoists West into a backbreaker for the submission! The big man easily defeats two opponents as Humperdink applauds him!
VTR:
First, we see grainy, black and white footage of Dory Funk Sr. wrestling Lou Thesz. Then, we see home movies of Funk, Sr. ina rocking chair with a newborn baby.
LOWRANCE: (v/o): Dory Funk, Sr. was a legendary figure in pro wrestling in the great state of Texas. When his first born son came into the world, it was only natural to expect him to follow in his father's giant footsteps.
Footage of Dory Sr. training a young Dory, Jr. After that, scenes from a young Dory's first matches.
LOWRANCE: After Dory, Jr. graduated from West Texas State, his father trained him to fulfill his destiny and begin his legendary career.
Footage of Dory defeating Gene Kiniski. Followed by footage of Dory, as NWA Champion, being interviewed by Gordon Solie.
LOWRANCE: His crowning achievement occurred in 1969 when he defeated legendary “Big Thinder” Gene Kiniski for the old NWA World Title.
Footage of Dory wrestling Jack Brisco.
LOWRANCE: What followed was a remarkable four year World Title reign, highlighted by an incredible series of matches against former NCAA wrestling Champion Jack Brisco.
Scenes of the Funk Brothers working as a tag team and entring an arena in Japan. This is followed by the closing moments of Terry Funk's NWA Title win over Jack Brisco.
LOWRANCE: It wasn't long before Dory's youngeer brother was making his own mark. In 1976, Terry defeated Brisco for the NWA Title. The Funks are the only brothers to hold a World Championship.
TERRY: (v/o) Most boys only get to see their hero on TV. I had breakfast with my hero every morning. I credit most of my success to my brother and my father.
Footage of Dory entering the Portland Sports Arena, wearing the UWA World Title belt. Footage of Dory nailing Billy Jack Haynes with forearm uppercuts.
LOWRANCE: Funk added to his amazing legacy in 1987 when he won the UWA Undaiputed World Title and defended against opponents like Billy jack Haynes across the world.

LOWRANCE: Dory Funk, Jr. continues to be a top name in our great sport, competing at a high leveel wherever he appears in the world. The UWA is happy to announce that the great Dory Funk, Jr. has signed an exclusive agreement to compete in the UWA!
TERRY FUNK (v/o): This is the best news I've heard in years! The Funk family reunited! All I can say is watch out, UWA! The Funks are here!
END VTR
MAGNUM: Back when I was a kid, my mom got me one of the best birthday gifts ever: tickets to the Norfolk Scope for a NWA World Title match with Dory Funk, Jr. as champion. While we watched the match, I pointed to the ring and told my mom, “That's what I wanna do when I grow up!” It will be an honor for me to call a match involving Dory Funk!
MARSHALL: Same here, Magnum! That's not our only special VTR> Eddie Gilbert demanded some TV time...
VTR:
Eddie Gilbert stands in a blackened studio.
GILBERT: Last week, the First family shocked the world when we added Johnny Ace. That shook things up around here! It especially shook up that bum Cactus Jack! I gues Granny Gilbert was right-birds of a feather do flock together! Somehow, that old fossil Terry Funk decided to take Jack's part! Now, ol' Father Time is flying in his brother, the infamous Dory Funk to help him out! Y'know, I greaw up with Grandpappy Gilbert telling me stories about cranking up the old Model A and going to watch Dory defend his belt in a barn or cow pasture somewhwere! All kidding aside, I have a championship to defend and Buzz has a championship to defend...the First Family might get spread a little thin!I have spared no expense to call in reinforcements! The greates wrestler in the history of the Lone Star State of Texas has signed with the First Family! Welcome to the family, Outlaw Ron Bass!
Bass comes out and embraces Eddie!
BASS: Thanks a million, boss! I ain't exaggerating by much, people! This man is very generous! Terry Funk, we have unsettled business, old hoss! I ain't done with you by a long shot! You want to stick yer nose in First Family business? Don't be surprised if you wind up with a broken nose! You think Junior worries me? I don't like you, I don't like yer old man, and I don't like Dory Jr.! Shoot, I hate the whole family! I am the best wrestler to ever come out of Texas! The funks have been afraid of me since my first match. They tried to blackball me! They tried to keep me out of the wrestling business, because I was a threat and they knew it! I'm gonna be World Champion and ain't nobody stoppin me! If I have to steamroll Terry, Dory, Cactus Jack, or anybody else to do it, I will!
GILBERT: The First Family is the most powerful force in the universe, baby! Nothing's gonna stop us now!
COMMERCIAL
Master of Pain & Great Kabuki (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) vs. Hurricane Castillo, Jr. & Pistol Pez Whatley: These two House of Humperdink members have two capable opponents this week. After a very competitive bout, the Master hits Castillo with a top rope clothsline to get the 1-2-3.
BONI: I am joined by the UWA World Tag Team Champions, the Sheepherders, along with their flagbearer Rip Morgan. Frank Dusek announced that aon Septemebr 5th, the three of you will take on all three Freebirds in a Badstreet USA match. My question is this: can you wait until Viva Las Vegas? The Freebirds are here tonight and their match is right after yours...
LUKE: I don't know that we can wait to get our hands on those scruffy looking hoodlums! We might just go after 'em right here at the bloody Showboat!
BUTCH: Where and when don't matter much! What matters is we're gonna get our hands on them blokes and when we do, they'll have to haul'em off to the intensive care!
MORGAN: AAAARRRRRRGH!!!
LUKE: Cousin Rip is ready for you, Freebirds! We all are!
BONI: Things could get reall hot here tonight!

The Batten Twins and Bob Bradley wait in the ring. The music plays...
The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Brad & Bart Batten & Bob”the Cat” Bradley: The match is barely underway when Rip Morgan comes to ringside, waving the New Zealand flag. Luke & Butch join him soon afterward. The Frebirds are boviously distracted, but Gordy locks in the Oriental Spike on Bradley for the win. Afterwards, the Sheepherdess and Morgan enter the ring! The fight is on! It takes about twelve wrestlers to pull these six men apart! Frank Dusek comes out, gets on the mic, and threatens fines and suspensions if they can't wait for the PPV!
COMMERCIAL
The Sheepherders (w/Rip Morgan) vs. Baron Von Rashke & Chris Carter:The Sheepherders hit the double gut buster on Carter for the pin. Morgan neutralizes the Baron by blasting him with the metal flagpole.
BONI: I'm here with Michael Hayes. Can the Freebirds wait until VIVA LAS VEGAS? It looks like you and your brothers want the Sheepherders here and now!
HAYES: Boni, the Captain says he'll suspend us and fine us if we don't behave ourselves! We can't afford that! We have families to feed! Sheepherders, I promise you this- When we get you in the Badstreet match, we will settle things with you once and for all!
The Sheepherders arrive!
LUKE: You're gonna let some bloke in a suit push you around Hayes? I think you've got a bloody yellow streak down your back!
HAYES SLUGS LUKE WILLIAMS! Butch and Rip try to interfere, but Terry Gordy comes out, swinging a chair! The New Zealand contingent gets outta Dodge!
GORDY: Dusek, I had no choice! There was three of 'em jumpin on my brother!
HAYES: At Viva Las Vegas, Sheepherders, take a walk down Badstreet! We'll be waiting at the last house on the Street!
COMMERCIAL
Cactus Jack vs. Iron Mike Sharpe: Cactus makes his babyface debut. It's a wild one that goes all over the Showboat. Sharpe is counted out after Catus hits the elbow off the ring apron. The fans give Jack a standing ovation and he seems genuinely touched by their actions.
BONI: Jack, congratulations on the win and the audience reaction.
JACK: what a difference a week makes, Boni! Last week, rejection! This week, acceptance with open arms. I went from the First Family looking down their nose at me to sharing a dressing room with the Legend and Dustin Rhodes! Wrestling royalty, Boni! And they treat me as an equal! Gilbert, you piece of garbage! Johnny Ace, you arrogant punk! Now, I hear Ron Bass is sticking his nose into the situation! It don't matter! Cactus Jack is ready! Bring it on! BANG! BANG!
COMMERCIAL
UWA TV TITLE MATCH: “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer © (w/Eddie Gilbert & Missy Hyatt) vs. Shaun Simpson: For most of the match, Simpson uses his speed to keep Sawyer off balance and frustrated. Sawyer retains his belt, though, as he pins the young South African after a powerslam.
COMMERCIAL
AMERICAN TITLE MATCH: “Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol © vs. Tito Santana: As the bout begins, Tito offers and handshake and Idol simply smirks and turns away. These two great wrestlers turn out to be evenly matched with Idol working as a subtle heel. The clock turns out to be Tito's worst enemy this week. Tito locks in the figure four just as the time limit expires. This match is a 10 minute draw. Snatana again offers a handshake and, again, Idol refuses! Magnum says we need a rematch with a longer time limit!
