I love Corny losing it in the promo after the unmasking. He's so awesome. You would have thought that they would notice that big "James Boy" was too small to be Dusty, but Mama's money blinded them.

I don't know about the match being classics, but the atmosphere, the ring entrances and the emotion is fantastic.
*I' having a hard time posting the video. I'll try it on my laptop.

For my money, when they were on their game, Lawler vs. Dundee got as frenzied and emotional of a reaction from the crowd as any feud in wrestling history.

Had to order the Mid-South bluray from Amazon, and it finally arrived today. I'll be watching my childhood memories when I'm not playing GTA V and watching football.

I've been watching CWA Memphis TV from November/December '84, when CWA entered into a co-promotion agreement with Ole Anderson's Georgia promotion. This was the period when Gordon Solie came in to broadcast the shows with Lance Russell. That duo is one of those where you'd think they'd be great together. Sadly it was not the case. Gordon was truly off his game and really could not adapt to the Memphis style at all. Thankfully Lance was still there to carry the load and keep the commentary entertaining. It's quite interesting to watch - and all of its on YouTube.

This was the first TV match that was noticeably different on the stringent "Hashtag Heel Eye Test" than the other tv matches of my childhood. I've seen it called the greatest match to ever air in the 6:05 TBS Wrestling Timeslot. I'm partial to Barry/Dustin vs. Doc/Gordy Title Change in September of 92. There is a great Pillman vs. Double A match too. I might put together a top 5 that I can find of matches to happen in that time slot.
Dunno if this was a test run for Tim Horner, or for the Lightning Express vs. Tully and Arn or not. White Lightning was a great hand, and a good partner for Barry also. Barry and JJ kinda cut in on the match, but this is Studio Wrestling done right.

Here is the outstanding Pillman vs. Flair Challenge Match, this one is in two parts. The comments on YouTube say that at the time it aired, this match drew the highest rating the time slot ever got for wrestling. Crowd is crazy for this one, as they should be. Ross and Corny are dynamite together here as well.

I put GTA V down long enough to watch Disc 1 of the Legends of Mid-South Blu-ray this weekend. I love re-living all those memories. The R&R vs MX stuff and the Taylor-Flair match were particularly great. Sucks that they didn't pay for the rights to use "Another One Bites The Dust" for JYD's entrances. Disc 2 match quality will be a bit better, but I hope WWE puts out either a vol 2 that features more DiBiase & Dr. Death (and Hot Stuff International), or a Best of DiBiase set that features more of his Mid-South/UWF run, especially the feud with the Freebirds.

STFU Raj! That one has been begging to be made for a long time. So many great matches in the 6:05 pm Sat. Night Time Slot to choose from. Seriously they can make more of those sets than ECW sets if they want.
Pt. 1 of my favorite match from that time slot:

11-13-13 was the 8 year anniversary of the death of Eddie Guerrero, a favorite of most every wrestling fan I've ever spoken to. I try my best to watch a classic Eddie match every year on that day. Here are a couple of my faves. VIVA LA RAZA! R.I.P. Latino Heat.
Los Gringos Locos vs. Octagon and Eddie's former partner El Hijo Del Santo 2/3 Falls, Eddie and Love Machine's Hair vs. Octagon and Santo's masks. 15,000 hot fans filled the LA Sports Arena in what was the Rocky vs Austin II at Mania 17 plateau for popularity of AAA. If Art Barr hadn't died in his home a few weeks after this he and Eddie would have debuted in ECW together and American Wrestling would have played out very differently between 95 and 97.
Eddie Guerrero vs Edge - NO DQ - one of the greatest matches in the history of free television. Definitely one of the best WWE tv matches of all time. It is very overlooked but I miss the 2002 Smackdown days with Paul E. booking Eddie, Chavo, Benoit, Angle, Rey, and Edge.

In honor of my first trip to Wrestlemania being made official yesterday when Jack got my ticket a day early for me (thanks, buddy) here are a few faves from Mania's of recent past.
Mick Foley's Wrestlemania moment was more than I ever thought it could be, best match of Mania 22
The match that took Batista from WWE Superstar to Megastar and brought the Streak to the forefront as THE Wrestlemania main event
The most emotional wrestling match I've ever seen. The Nature Boy left everything he had left and Shawn Micheals put on one of the best performances of his life. I'm not ashamed to admit that every time I see it I get a tear in my eye, WOOO! It's still real to me.. Damnit.
And finally, it took a quarter of a century, but a match finally made it less blasphemous to say that Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage was #2 on the Greatest Mania Match list. It what felt like a step down for Taker, to me at the time, coming off of two SENSATIONAL Wrestlemania main events vs. Edge and Batista, he was put into a match with HBK. At the time I felt like, "sure it will be good, but they've already wrestled their best matches with one another," and never was I more pleasantly surprised and happy to be wrong. Some will try to tell you that the rematch at 26 was better, and the leaping spike Tombstone to finish that has it at #4 in my Mania top 5. Here is the official Hashtag Heel #1 Mania Match of all time.

How bout some Beautiful Bobby love, credit the initial thought to do this to A. my love for Eaton and B. Raj and my love for early 90's WCW, SOUTHEAST SHOUT OUT! MY DUDE!
5-8-92 The Power Hour: vs Dustin Rhodes
10-6-96 WCW Pro: vs Arn Anderson
1-26-91 WCW Worldwide vs Double A - even better than the previous
And it would be criminal to not include at least one with MX/RnR ties, this is the best singles match in the history of that feud that I've ever seen from any combination of all 5 guys, outstanding match here. 9-29-90 World Championship Wrestling vs Ricky Morton

Outstanding match from Sting and Stunning Steve, can't find the exact date but Austin is in Hollywood Blondes tights so it has to be at some point in 1993. The last year that MY wcw was alive. Sure I liked late 90's WCW to a certain degree, but it wasn't MY WCW that I loved so much. What I would have given for these two to have twice this amount of time and a Starrcade main event launching pad

HOLY SHIT! Last one for the night I swear, what an effin tag team match here! Sting and The Dragon vs Flair and Austin! What a wrestling match. I have to get this on disc and into my collection like yesterday. How'd I NOT know this match existed? Oh it was post Hogan, thats how. Anywho positively Outstanding. If you only watch one that I posted, pick this one. Seriously.

Loving the Network. Among the best matches I've watched recently:
The Angle-Lesnar Iron Man Match from a Smackdown in 2003 for the WWE title. Flair - Kerry Von Erich for the NWA World title in 1982. Tully Blanchard vs Ricky Steamboat for the TV title - Starrcade 1984. Flair vs Luger for the NWA World title - WrestleWar 1990. Angle & Benoit vs Los Guerreros for the WWE Tag titles - Rebellion 2002.

I'm having bandwidth issues and am only able to watch 1 hr. programs, so it's been a lot of World Class, Boston Garden, and Maple Leaf Garden cards for me. The thing that has stuck out to me the most is that I've found Brutus Beefcake's best match of all time. 1985 in Toronto, teaming with Hammer Valentine (Prior to officially becoming the Dream Team, Hammer is still IC champ) against Ricky Steamboat and Tito Santana. That Dragon/Chico tag team could've done good business for the WWF, but with the British Bulldogs, Killer Bees, and Windham/Rotundo all on the roster, they were more needed for singles competition. Imagine if Windham and Rotundo had still been around for the Wrestling Classic? Dragon, Savage, Davey, DK, Windham, Rotundo, Funk, Adonis? Sheesh.
While the match times leave a little to be desired the fresh match ups made WC a very fun show. I was able to watch it on my phone, lol.

For Raj: Doc and Dibiase take a trip down Badstreet. And the further down the block they got, the badder it got.
