Broadcast on Sunday, June 2, 1985 on:
Taped on Wednesday, May 29 at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, DC
Announcers: Gordon Solie and Bobby Heenan
Backstage interviews: Ken Resnick
Ring Announcer: Larry Nelson
Referees: Tommy Young, Jack Lotz and “Dangerous” Danny Davis
Opening clip: 14-man Battle Royal, Two Weeks Ago:
We’re down to Brad Armstrong and Garfield Portz. Portz drives a knee into the gut of Armstrong, then grabs him and tosses him over the top rope . . . but Armstrong hangs on, and is able to roll back in under the bottom rope! Portz thinks he’s won, and he’s jawing with the fans in the front row. Armstrong connects with a dropkick to the back that sends Portz stumbling forwards . . . and right over the top rope!
Brad Armstrong has won the Battle Royal and the American title!
The referee raises Armstrong’s hand, and then goes over to the timekeeper’s table to get the American title belt.
Portz has slid back into the ring, though, and he clips Armstrong’s knee, then puts the boots to him.
Portz snatches the American title belt from the referee, and repeatedly hits Armstrong in the face with it, opening up a nasty cut on Brad’s forehead!
The show comes to an end with the new American champ lying flat on his back on the mat, his face a bloody mess!
END VTR
GORDON SOLIE and BOBBY “THE BRAIN” HEENAN are seated at a table, with the UCW logo behind them.
Solie and Heenan open the show and welcome us to Washington, DC for another episode of “Capitol Wrestling”!
This week, Brad Armstrong will defend the American title against the man that battered and bloodied him with the title belt two weeks ago, England’s Garfield Portz!
At that point, they’re joined at the broadcast desk by Garfield Portz.
Portz tells Solie that it’s SIR Garfield Portz. Portz says that he was knighted by the Queen, and he demands that Solie and all these other bloody Yanks refer to him as Sir Garfield Portz! Portz says he has achieved unequaled success in pro wrestling, in Europe, Canada and the United States, and yet he was cheated out of the American title by a commoner! He goes on to mock Armstrong’s Georgia drawl, and says that he almost feels bad for Armstrong, because the simpleton has no idea what’s in store for him later today!
Solie and Heenan talk about Johnny Powers comments last week, regarding the Universal and Television tag team titles. Solie says that the round-robin tournament for the Television tag team titles will start next week, and finish up on the June 30 show. The finals will then take place on July 4 in Philadelphia, where the two teams with the most points will square off to determine the champions.
Solie and Heenan talk about the six teams that will participate in the tournament: The Fantastics, Hector & Chavo Guerrero, Iceman Parsons & Koko Ware, Jim “Anvil” Neidhart & “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, Jay Youngblood & Mr. Olympia and The Cuban Assassins!
Solie says that we’ll see all six teams in action here today.
THE FANTASTICS: TOMMY ROGERS & BOBBY FULTON defeat LOS SUPER MEDICOS. Rogers and Fulton get the win after Rogers hits the Rocket Launcher onto one of the Super Medicos for the pinfall victory.
HECTOR & CHAVO GUERRERO defeat NICK DECARLO & BOB MARCUS. The Guerreros get the win when Chavo forces Marcus to submit to the Gori Special.
Solie and Heenan talk about the ongoing Universal title tournament, with matches being held all over the world. Solie says that the third semi-finalist has been decided, as Paul Orndorff travelled to Mexico City earlier this week, and defeated El Canek at Arena Mexico to advance to the semi-finals!
That means Rocky Johnson, Harley Race and now Paul Orndorff will be taking part in the semi-finals on July 4 in Philadelphia. Next week, we’ll find out who the fourth and final participant will be as Wahoo McDaniel is in Australia, where he’ll face the New Zealand representative Steve Rickard.
Heenan says that Wahoo is vastly overrated, whereas Rickard is one of the top wrestlers in the world, having held titles in countries all around the world. He thinks we’ll be seeing Rickard joining Orndorff, Race and Johnson in the semi-finals!
JAY YOUNGBLOOD & MR. OLYMPIA defeat MAD DOG & MIKE VACHON. Youngblood and Olympia seem to gel pretty well as a team, and they get the win here over the Vachons, when Youngblood catches Mike Vachon with a big Tomahawk Chop off the top rope for the pinfall victory.
THE CUBAN ASSASSINS: ANGEL ACEVEDO & FIDEL SIERRA defeat RUFUS & BURRHEAD JONES. The Cubans get the win when Sierra locks Burrhead Jones in the Castro Sleeper for the win.
Ken Resnick is standing by with American champion Brad Armstrong. Resnick congratulates Armstrong on the win two weeks ago, and then asks him about the comments made earlier in the program by Garfield Portz.
Armstrong says that Portz sure does like to talk, but he was raised to let his actions do the talking. He says that Portz can come out here, and run him down, and make fun of the way he talks, but two weeks ago, he beat Portz fair and square, and he’ll do it again today!
ICEMAN PARSONS & KOKO WARE defeat KURT VON HESS & KORTSIA KORCHENKO. The popular duo of Iceman and Koko get the win when Koko hits Von Hess with a Brainbuster for the pinfall victory.
JIM “ANVIL” NEIDHART & “DR. DEATH” STEVE WILLIAMS defeat ART CREWS & FRANKIE LAINE. Neidhart and Doc demolish their opponents, they get the win by pinfall in about 90 seconds after Doc drives Crews into the mat with the Oklahoma Stampede.
Gordon Solie talks about upcoming UCW live events:
Wednesday night, June 5, they're back here at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington for a television taping!
Thursday night, June 6, in Bridgeport, CT!
Friday night, June 7, in Springfield, MA!
Saturday night, June 8, in Queens, NY!

AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP:
BRAD ARMSTRONG (champ) battles SIR GARFIELD PORTZ to a DRAW when TV time runs out. Portz had gained the upper hand after jabbing a thumb into Brad’s eye, and has the champion in a bad way when the bell sounds to end the match.
Solie and Heenan wrap things up and hype next week’s show, which will feature the start of the Television tag team title tournament!
