Broadcast on Sunday, May 19, 1985 on:
Taped on Wednesday, May 8 at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, DC
Announcers: Gordon Solie and Bobby Heenan
Backstage interviews: Ken Resnick
Ring Announcer: Larry Nelson
Referees: Tommy Young, Jack Lotz and “Dangerous” Danny Davis
Opening clip: Orndorff vs Wahoo, Last Week on Capitol Wrestling:
Orndorff, with welts already starting to appear on his chest, has a shocked look on his face, which quickly turns to anger, as he yells at the referee that Wahoo used a closed fist! Tommy Young is well aware that’s not the case, and ignores Paul.
Orndorff proposes a test of strength, but before they can lock hands, he drives a knee into Wahoo’s midsection, then drives him back into the corner, where he unleashes several right hands to the head of the big Chief. Wahoo is stunned, but quickly shakes it off, and drops Orndorff with more chops!
On commentary, Heenan whines about the fact that Orndorff is trying to wrestle a good, clean scientific match, while Wahoo insists on cheating! Solie wonders if he and Heenan are watching two different matches!
Orndorff takes a breather on the floor, and as he climbs back in, Wahoo grabs him, but Orndorff jabs a thumb in Wahoo’s eyes, stopping the Chief dead in his tracks! Orndorff then unloads a flurry of rights and lefts, stunning Wahoo, then he tosses McDaniel through the ropes and to the floor. Wahoo is quick to roll back into the ring, where he tears into Orndorff and the two trade punches and chops in the middle of the ring!
Wahoo gets the better of the exchange, and then whips Orndorff into the corner. Wahoo charges, but Mr. Wonderful moves aside, and Wahoo crashes into the turnbuckles! With Wahoo stunned, Orndorff quickly rolls him up, and puts both feet on the middle rope for leverage!
With the added leverage of Orndorff’s feet on the ropes, Wahoo can’t kick out, and Mr. Wonderful gets the pinfall victory!

GORDON SOLIE and BOBBY “THE BRAIN” HEENAN are seated at a table, with the UCW logo behind them.
Solie and Heenan open the show and welcome us to Washington, DC for another episode of “Capitol Wrestling”!
Last week, we heard about the on-going tournament, culminating on July 4 in Philadelphia with the crowning of the very first Universal champion, but right here today, we’ll see the American champion crowned! 14 wrestlers square off in an over-the-top-rope Battle Royal. The winner will be awarded the American title!
WAHOO MCDANIEL beat GEORGE SOUTH. The big Chief isn’t in a good mood after getting cheated out of a win last week against Orndorff, and he takes it out on George South here. Wahoo gives South a beating, and tops it off with a Butterfly suplex for the pinfall victory.
After the match, Wahoo stops by the announce desk on his way from the ring.
Solie says that we saw the clip at the top of the show, we saw Orndorff use his feet on the ropes for leverage to beat Wahoo last week.
Wahoo says that he’s been beaten plenty of times in his career, and if someone beat him clean, he came out and said that they were the better man on that particular night, no excuses. But Paul Orndorff couldn’t beat him clean, he had to cheat, and in the process Orndorff showed the entire country what a snake he really is!
Wahoo wraps things up by challenging Orndorff to wrestle him again, if he has the guts, and says that Orndorff cheated him once, but it won’t happen again!
Solie and Heenan talk about the on-going Universal title tournament. Last week, we heard that Washington’s own “Soulman” Rocky Johnson was the first to advance to the semi-finals. We now know that former 7-time World’s champion Harley Race has advanced as well!
Heenan suggests that his managing Race in the past is a big part of why Harley has had the success that he has! He says that Race has got to be considered the favourite to win the tournament and the Universal title!
Solie says that we have footage of how both Rocky and Race advanced.
We see footage of Rocky Johnson facing the British Kendo Nagasaki, who represents the UK in the tournament. The mysterious masked man gives Rocky all he can handle, but in the end, Rocky stuns him with rights and lefts, then connects with a sunset flip off the second turnbuckle for the 1, 2, 3!
We then see footage of Harley Race squaring off with Tatsumi Fujinami (after he left WWI). Race and Fujinami put on a great match, and in the end, Harley gets the pinfall after hitting the Dragon with a diving headbutt from the top rope.
“MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF beats PEDRO MORALES. Orndorff gets the win after dropping Morales on his head with a vicious Piledriver.
Ken Resnick is standing by with Hector & Chavo Guerrero. Hector and Chavo are decked out in huge sombreros and each man has a Mexican flag draped over his shoulders. Resnick welcomes them to Universal Championship Wrestling.
Chavo runs down Washington, saying it’s filthy and full of lowlifes and criminals, and says it’s no wonder it’s the American capital, that’s the perfect representation of America and the American people . . . a bunch of filthy, disgusting lowlifes!
The Guerreros have a good laugh about that, and continue to run down Washington and the country as a whole, as Ken Resnick says he’s heard enough and sends us back to Gordon and Bobby.
Gordon is disgusted by the Guerreros comments about America and the American people, but Heenan says they’re right, this city is a cesspool, and most of these humanoids are too stupid to recognize great men, like himself, or the Guerreros.
BARRY WINDHAM beats CONQUISTADOR #2. Last week, Windham beat Conquistador #1, this week he meets the masked man’s tag team partner, Conquistador #2. The end result is the same, as Windham hits the masked man with a running Bulldog for the pinfall.
“RAVISHING” RICK RUDE & “GORGEOUS” GINO HERNANDEZ (w/ Jimmy Garvin & Precious) beat NICK DECARLO & BOB MARCUS. Rude and Hernandez get the win when Rude connects with the Rude Awakening neckbreaker on DeCarlo for the pinfall.
14-MAN BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE UCW AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP:
BRAD ARMSTRONG wins the match and the title, last eliminating GARFIELD PORTZ. Armstrong eliminates Portz, but as he’s getting his hand raised, Portz slides back into the ring, clips Armstrong’s knee from behind, the grabs the belt from the referee, and proceeds to bloody Armstrong with it before leaving the ring!
Other participants: BOBBY FULTON, CHAVO GUERRERO, HECTOR GUERRERO, DUTCH MANTELL, JAY YOUNGBLOOD, TOMMY ROGERS, ICEMAN PARSONS, JIM NEIDHART, STEVE WILLIAMS, KOKO WARE, MAD DOG VACHON and MR. OLYMPIA.
Solie and Heenan wrap things up and hype next week’s show, which will feature more championship news from Commissioner Johnny Powers!
