March 10, 1985 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Coliseum, the one night tournament for the World's Heavyweight Championship. The winner is Billy Robinson.
7. WWA World's Heavyweight Championship Final Match. Billy Robinson beat Antonio Inoki w/mgr. Hiro Matsuda with a double pin where Billy got his shoulder up before the 3rd count by the official. (18:13). Classic scientific wrestling contest between two greats. Both men took the advantage over the other then reversed the advantage.
6. WWA World's Heavyweight Semifinals Elimination Match 2#. Antonio Inoki w/mgr. Hiro Matsuda beat Blackjack Mulligan hitting the big Texan in the back of the head with a spin kick. (13:56). Rough match by Mulligan who continually blasted Inoki with kicks & punches. Inoki managed to avoid the Claw hold throughout the match.
5. WWA World's Heavyweight Semifinals Elimination Match 1#. Billy Robinson won by disqualification over The Spoiler who refused to break the Claw hold on Robinson then shoved the referee. (16:14). Spoiler went after Billy & never let up on him but Robinson could dish it out as well as take it.
4. WWA World's Heavyweight First-Round Elimination Match 4#. Blackjack Mulligan beat The Grappler with a lariat. (14:44). Blackjack took a loaded boot to the guy & almost lost the match but rallied to nail the hated Grappler with the lariat.
3. WWA World's Heavyweight First-Round Elimination Match 3#. Billy Robinson beat Mr. Wrestling II# with an inside cradle. (18:42). Another scientific match between two greats with II getting a little rough near the end but the Englishman prevailed.
2. WWA World's Heavyweight First-Round Elimination Match 2#. Antonio Inoki w/mgr. Hiro Matsuda beat Don Diamond with suplex. (13:57).Diamond's speed & youth helped him out early on but the veteran Inoki used his experience to take the victory.
1. WWA World's Heavyweight First-Round Elimination Match 1#. The Spoiler beat Pez Whatley with the Claw. (11:31). Spoiler seemed possessed in all of his matches to take the victory & he took no ease on veteran Whatley.
