VTR: MEMPHIS WRESTLING OPENING
Memphis Wrestling opens with Dave Brown and Randy Hales at ringside in the Channel 5 Studio. The two announcers welcome us to ‘The Fury Hour’ and the return of studio wrestling here on WMC-5 at 11pm on Saturday nights. Randy Hales announces that many of the biggest stars in the history of Memphis wrestling will be a part of this promotion, and several are here today.
Randy Hales also makes the announcement that, right here today, Memphis Wrestling will crown the Southeastern Heavyweight Champion in a big battle royal. Let’s take a look at the wrestlers who will be competing for the title here on ‘The Fury Hour’:
Dave Brown and Randy Hales are about to throw us to the ring when a young guy with a mohawk and a goofy mustache makes his way out. Dave Brown addresses him, asking what ‘Jamie’ is doing out here. Jamie says he has something to say, so an exasperated Dave introduces this young man as Jamie Dundee, the son of Bill ‘Superstar’ Dundee.
JAMIE DUNDEE: “I got a question for you, Dave. And you too Randy! You ran just ran down a list of great Memphis rasslers for this Battle Royal. But there was somebody missing. You know who I’m talkin’ about, man!”
RANDY HALES: “Come on, Jamie! We don’t want to go there.”
JAMIE DUNDEE: “No, we goin’ there, man! You start up Memphis Wrestling but everyone’s hero, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, ain’t nowhere to be found!”
DAVE BROWN: “Jamie, we’re not going there! And what does it matter to you anyway?!”
JAMIE DUNDEE: “I’ll tell you why it matters! My old man, the Superstar, is here tonight and he is representing Memphis Championship Rasslin! You know why? Because my old man ain’t a sell out like Jerry Lawler! Lawler thinks he’s too big for Memphis now that he’s got a big money contract with Bill Watts, don’t he? DON’T HE?”
RANDY HALES: “Now Jamie, this isn’t something we’re going to talk about here. We wish the King nothing but the best. We have great wrestlers here in Memphis Pro Wrestling, including your father!”
JAMIE DUNDEE: “I know it! See, my old man’s the real hero of Memphis Wrestling. And tonight you’re going to see him become the Southeastern Heavyweight Champeen! In fact, come on out here daddy!”
The crowd boos as Bill Dundee makes his way out, and he’s flanked by Jimmy Golden and a big man who Jamie identifies as Bull Pain.
DAVE BROWN: “Bill, can you calm Jamie down, please? We’re not even sure why he’s out here! He’s not a wrestler!”
BILL DUNDEE: “First of all Dave Brown - no hello for the Superstar? Not even a ‘How’s it goin?’ Typical! You want me to shut this boy up, I’d do that if he wasn’t 100% right. I think we all know now that it was really the Superstar, not Kingfish, who is really the Memphis legend. And dadgumit, with the Stud Stable by my side - that’s right, the Southeastern Stud and big Bull Pain are at my side - we’re gonna prove that Memphis Wrestling don’t need Jerry Lawler!”
DAVE BROWN: “Well Bill, we’ll see about that later on. We have to move on now so good luck to all of you in the battle royal later on. Let’s go up to the ring.”
MATCH #1: CHRIS FRAZIER VS. FREEZER THOMPSON
These two perennial Memphis Wrestling jobbers lock up and only manage to bore the viewers for a minute or two until there’s rumbling heard backstage. The camera pans over to the curtain and storming out is…
OH NO! IT’S ‘CRAZY’ JOS LEDUC!
Both Chris Frazier and Freezer Thompson see that big French Canadian stomping onto the ring apron, and now they’re side-by-side like partners rather than opponents! Behind LeDuc is Don Fargo, the legendary Memphis star who has had varying success manager heels in Memphis over the years. It looks like he’s finally lucked out as LeDuc storms into the ring. Frazier and Thompson try to attack LeDuc, but he no-sells it. LeDuc grabs both by the back of the neck and slams their heads together. LeDuc hoists Thompson into the air and press-slams him down on Frazier and then steps in the the abdomens of both poor jobbers. LeDuc then reaches down, and grabs Frazier by the throat with a double choke, hoists him high in the air, and then slams him to the canvas. LeDuc does the same to Thompson and then climbs over the top rope to head toward the announce desk.
WINNER: NO CONTEST
The camera switches back over to the desk where Don Fargo escorts Jos LeDuc over the desk where a very intimidated Randy Hales ducks behind the desk. Dave Brown steps up for the interview.
DAVE BROWN: “Don, there was no reason for Jos LeDuc to interrupt a match!”
DON FARGO: “Do you want to be the one to ask him to stop, Brown? I didn’t think so. Jos Leduc destroys everything and everyone in his way. So Randy Hales, why isn’t he in the battle royal?”
RANDY HALES: “Well uh, Don, uh we signed the competitors before we agreed to a deal with yourself and ‘Crazy’ Jos LeDuc.”
JOS LEDUC: “DON’T CALL ME CRAZY! I’M NOT CRAZY!”
DON FARGO: “This man is NOT crazy! Don’t you ever disrespect him like that again, Hales! You’ve already disrespected him enough by not including in this battle royal. But that’s just fine, we’ll get even. Come on big man!”
DAVE BROWN: “One very angry Jos LeDuc, fans. We’ll be right back!”

Memphis Wrestling returns with Jeff Jarrett joining Dave Brown and Randy Hales at ringside.
DAVE BROWN: “This young man needs no introduction. You can’t have Memphis Wrestling without the Jarrett family. This young man Jeff Jarrett, the son of the great Jerry Jarrett, is one of the bright stars in this sport.”
JEFF JARRETT: “Thank you very much, Dave. It’s pleasure to be here for the debut of Memphis Wrestling. How great is it to have Memphis Wrestling back on Saturday mornings?”
DAVE BROWN: “It’s a long time coming. Now Jeff, you have a big opportunity later on when you step into the ring with Memphis Wrestling greats like Bill Dundee, Tommy Rich, Adrian Street and so many more to bring home the Southeastern Heavyweight Title.”
JEFF JARRETT: “There’s a lot of star-power here today! I’m looking forward to mixing it up with them, and I believe I will walk out with the title. I heard Bill and Jamie Dundee out here earlier whining about who’s not here. Superstar, just worry about who is here!”
DAVE BROWN: “Always good to speak with you, Jeff. Good luck later on!”
MATCH #2: ‘BIG CAT’ CURTIS HUGHES VS. TONY FALK
This young Curtis Hughes looks to be one of the blue chippers in professional wrestling. He’s still green but he’s putting together all of the pieces quickly. Falk mistakenly tries to take Hughes off his feet with a clothesline, but it doesn’t budge the Big Cat. Hughes scoops up Falk and plants him with the big Thump power-slam for the one...two...three! What an impressive debut for Curtis Hughes.
WINNER: CURTIS HUGHES
DAVE BROWN: “Quite an impressive win for Curtis Hughes, Randy. We have the big battle royal coming up next, but let’s take a look at one of its participants. He’s the one and only Tommy ‘Wildfire’ Rich!”

MATCH #3: BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE SOUTHEASTERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Participants: Jeff Jarrett, Bill Dundee, Moondog Spot, Plowboy Frazier, Dirty White Boy, Bull Pain, Jimmy Golden, P.Y. Chu Hi, Dream Machine, Ricky Gibson, Kris Von Colt, Mr. Olympian, Tommy Rich and Adrian Street.
The Dirty White Boy is the last to enter and he goes right after Bull Pain for some reason. The two slug at each other, with Dirty White Boy winding up for a big lariat. The momentum sends both Dirty White Boy and Bull Pain over the top rope, and it doesn’t phase them! The two men brawl all the way back through the curtain. Bill Dundee and Jimmy Golden of the Stud Stable are sticking together and they work over Ricky Gibson, before tossing him over and out. The wrestlers come together only once and that’s to dump the massive Plowboy Frazier over the top and out to the floor as we go to commercial break.
DAVE BROWN: “The bigger they are, the harder they fall! Fans, we’ll be right back!”

Memphis Wrestling returns as Dave Brown and Randy Hales inform us that Moondog Spot and the Dream Machine have also been eliminated.
Adrian Street is working over Tommy Rich by raking the eyes, while Mr. Olympia is brawling with P.Y. Chu Hi. Bill Dundee and Jimmy Golden are trying to force Jeff Jarrett over the top rope, but he’s fighting back. Jarrett even manages to grab Jimmy Golden by the head and force him out over the top rope, but Bill Dundee is right there to dump out Jeff Jarrett too. Bill Dundee does a bit of dancing as a frantic Jamie Dundee tries to warn his father to turn around. It’s too late as Mr. Olympic drills Bill Dundee with a flying forearm that sends the Superstar over and out. That’s the entire Stud Stable out of the running!
We’re down now to Tommy Rich battling with Adrian Street while Mr. Olympia squares off with P.Y. Chu Hi. Rich is sidelined by a low blow, allowing Adrian Street to help P.Y. Chu Hi dump Mr. Olympia over and out! It’s now two-on-one as Adrian Street and P.Y. Chu Hi work over Tommy Rich for a few minutes. Adrian Steet holds Rich in place as P.Y. Chu Hi winds up with a karate stance and then goes for a super kick, but Rich moves and Chu Hi drills Street! A shocked P.Y. Chu Hi can’t believe what happened, and is dropkicked over and out by Wildfire! A dazed Adrian Street was knocked into next week, allowing Tommy Rich to clothesline him over an out! Tommy Rich wins. He’s the new Southeastern Champion!
WINNER: *NEW* SOUTHEASTERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TOMMY RICH
As referee Jerry Calhoun hands the Southeastern Title to Tommy Rich, there’s a commotion as Don Fargo leads Jos Leduc back out! LeDuc hits the ring, and Rich spots him coming! Rich and LeDuc are brawling all over the ring!
DAVE BROWN: “Fans, we’re out of time! We’ll see you next week! Somebody get out here and break this two up before someone is seriously hurt!”
