- Les Thatcher and Johnny Weaver welcomed everyone in to another exciting half-hour of Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Les said that it was a hot one this past Wednesday night at the Civic Auditorium in Kingsport, and we have a hot one coming to the High School in Jellico TN this Thursday…
- The show cut to Chip Kessler in a locker room and he was giving the details about SMW coming to the High School in Jellico TN this Thursday with an 8:00pm bell time. Tickets are on sale now for just $5.00.
- Back to Les and Weaver who start talking about the Jive Tones beating The Rock & Roll Express this past Wednesday night, and then Weaver throws it to highlights…..
- “Smoky Mountain Wrestling returned to the Kingsport Civic Auditorium last night with a tag team main event that ended in some controversy. The crowd of 720 watched as The Jive Tones, managed by Ron Wright, defeated The Rock & Roll Express after 25:09 of action. The Rock and Rolls were set up and ready to deliver their famous Double Dropkick on Whatley, but just as they took off, Ron Wright grabbed the foot of Robert Gibson from the floor tripping him and pulling him out to the floor. Morton connected on Whatley with a dropkick and went for the cover. Referee Carl Fegie was out of position to count the pin as he was admonishing Ron Wright at ringside. While Fergie was distracted, Tiger Conway Jr. leapt from the top rope with an elbow drop across the back of the head of Ricky Morton. He then turned him over and placed Whatley on top of him. Carl Fergie turned his attention back to the action in the ring and counted the pin fall.”
(highlights of the opening few minutes, and then the last 4 minutes shown)
- Out of the highlight clip and Les Thatcher talked about how Ron Wright being on the floor is certainly something to watch for when facing the Jive Tones. Weaver agreed and then we went to a taped interview from after the match on Wed. night with The Jive Tones and Ron Wight…
- Ron Wright said he told Ricky and Robert that he had their number, and his Jive Tones proved it on Wed. night. He said that the Jive Tones are the best tag team in the Smoky Mountain area, and he wants the promoter to just give them the new Smoky Mountain Tag Team title belts. He also said that Ricky and Robert are just punks and the Jive Tones will always have their number.
(During the whole interview, Whatley and Conway just kinda danced and gyrated in the background.)
- Back to Les and Weaver who said that Ricky and Robert aren’t taking this lying down, and they had this to say….
- (Taped in the locker room after the match on Wed. night)
Ricky Morton said that he and Robert have had to put up with a lot of crap through the years, so Ron Wright is nothing new. He said that he and Robert didn’t win all those World Tag Team belts by laying down and just letting people run over them. He said that Ron Wright and the Jive Tones got one on them in Kingsport, but the next time…and there WILL be a next time, the Rock and Roll Express are gonna put ol’ Hillbilly Ron and his Jive Tones in their place.
- Les Thatcher said that he wants to see another match between the two teams. After the break, we’ll hear from the Smoky Mountain champion! Stay tuned.

- Out of the break, and Thatcher said that this Wednesday night, Smoky Mountain will be back at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium at 8:00pm with a big card, and part of this card is going to feature the SMW Heavyweight Champion, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. He’s gonna let him tell us about it….
- (Pre-taped)
Paul Orndorff said that a lot of people in the Smoky Mountain area don’t think he should be champion, and a lot of people don’t understand just what a finely tuned athlete he is. So this Wednesday night, he is going to put on a little exhibition. Any wrestler that thinks they’re tough, or thinks they can beat him, should show up to Kingsport on Wednesday night and take their shot, because he is going to wrestle any wrestler there that night. It’s going to be a non-title match, but he’ll give someone the opportunity to prove him wrong when he says he’s the best wrestler around today.
- Out of that, and Weaver commented that Orndorff is a very confident man to be making a challenge like that. Thatcher added to that and said that “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan is going to be in Kingsport on Wed. night, and he would love to see him challenge Orndorff. Thatcher then cut to highlights of Duggan’s match from Wednesday:
- “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan pinned Phil Hickerson after a football tackle at 13:30. After the bout, Phil Hickerson got on the house microphone and declared that this is profession wrestling, and not football. He said he came to wrestle while Duggan came to use whatever holds and moves he thought he could get away with. Hickerson said that he is better fighting like that anyway, and if Duggan has the guts, he’ll be back here next week and fight Hickerson in a match without rules…a match where anything goes…and then he’ll show Duggan whose tougher.
(A couple of minutes were shown, and all of Hickerson’s post match promo was included)
- Weaver said that Duggan is a tough guy, and Hickerson may be letting his mouth get him into some trouble. Thatcher agreed and said that the No Holds Barred match has already been signed for Wednesday night between Duggan and Hickerson. He then ran down the rest of the lineup for Wed. night:
No Holds Barred:
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Phil Hickerson
“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff’s open challenge exhibition
United States Women’s Title Match:
Debbie Combs © vs. Heidi lee Morgan
Ivan Koloff & Vladimir Pietrov in tag team action
Plus more!
The Rock & Roll Express will be signing autographs out front from 7:00 – 7:30 pm
- Commercials
- Out of the last break, and Weaver mentioned Ole Anderson being on a winning streak since arriving here, and then went to clips of him this past Wednesday night…
- "Ole Anderson picked up his third win in a row since arriving in the Smoky Mountain circuit when he pinned Scott Armstrong after a face first suplex that he calls the “gourd buster”, in 12:49."
(The last 4 minutes were shown)
- Thatcher and Weaver took the last few minutes to talk about the United States Women’s Title match this Wednesday night in Kingsport, as the champion Debbie Combs will be in action against Heidi Lee Morgan. Both men put over how tough these women are, and urge the fans if they’ve not seen a women’s title match before, they warn them that the ladies sometimes get rougher than the men!
- Out of that, Les Thatcher reminded all the fans in Jellico TN to come out to the High School this Thursday night, then he and Weaver signed off for the week.
