You won’t want to miss it. Now, let’s get on with IWA’s All Star Assault.’

Dr. D David Schultz vs. ‘Canadian Sex Machine’ Al Tomko
The Doctor is pounding away on Al Tomko here, rights, lefts, boots to the gut, elbows to the back of the neck! Schultz scoops up Tomko, running powerslam to the canvas! Doctor D now climbs the top rope, he looks down on Tomko and he spits on him! Schultz now leaps off… Bomb’s Away knee drop across the chest of the Canadian Sex Machine. Schultz with a foot on the chest for the 1-2-3! Good night Sex Machine, and thank you Doctor D! David Schultz is back here in Vancouver, fans!
Winner by pinfall @ 2.01 Dr. D David Schultz
Super Juniors ‘88 preview: Eight-Man Tag Team Match
Dean Malenko, Joe Malenko, Gama Singh and American Love Machine vs. Liger, Ben Bassarab, Steve Blackman and El Vampiro de Canadiense
Eight of the sixteen junior heavyweights, light heavyweights and cruisers who will be competing in the Super Juniors ‘88 tournament all next month are represented in this match. Some fans clearly notice the former Ian Fury has had a (slight) makeover in recent weeks and is now billed as Vampiro. Vampiro and Liger are certainly the stars for their side of the match, especially Liger after a suicide dive on all four opponents on the floor.
Ben Bassarab with the tag and he comes with a big headbutt on Joe Malenko - in the style of his mentor Dynamite Kid. However, Dean Malenko taps his brother's back, slides and catches Bassarab from behind with a Tiger Suplex!
‘The Wrestling Ace’ immediately hooks the leg and applies the crossface on Bassarab - this is a hold Lou Thesz invented called the STF! Bassarab fights like hell, but eventually he has no choice to submit! An impressive showing by all eight competitors hear - especially ‘The Wrestling Ace’ Dean Malenko!
Winners by pinfall @ 13:28 Dean Malenko, Joe Malenko, Gama Singh and American Love Machine
Rematch - Extended time limit
Doug Furnas vs. Dan Kroffat
The Super Juniors ‘88 tournament is represented here as well in the personage of Dan Kroffat, who gets a nice reception from the fans. His opponent Doug Furnas is no light heavyweight, but his incredible agility and his well-documented success as a world powerlifting champion makes him an incredibly tough opponent. These two wrestled on Stampede Wrestling TV recently to a 15 minute time limit draw, but tonight they’ll have an extra five minutes tacked onto the time limit to settle the score.
Some excellent chain wrestling to start gives way to Furnas pressed Kroffat about his head, repping him twice and dropping him down on his knee. What a devastating maneuver! Furnas with the cover, but Kroffat shows tremendous heart by kicking out at two. Furnas off the ropes now for a leaping elbow drop, and he connects for another two count. Doug Furnas now shoots Kroffat off the ropes, leaps up and he drives Kroffat down with a flying headscissors! Incredible agility from Doug Furnas, but Kroffat is once again able to kick out just in time.
Doug Furnas can’t figure what he has to do to defeat Kroffat here, and his frustration allows Dan Kroffat to catch him with a big thrust kick to the chest! Kroffat now hits the ropes and he comes off with a senton splash for a two count. Now it’s Kroffat on the offensive as he scoops Furnas onto his shoulders and he connects with a rolling fireman’s carry slam for the one… two… no! Both men are slow up now and they both instinctively go for dropkicks that don’t connect! Just then, the bell rings! The 20 minute time limit has expired. Furnas and Kroffat are now staring each other down. Doug Furnas offers his hand - and Dan Kroffat accepts it! Whatever frustration there was with this series of matches for these two great athletes, Doug Furnas and Dan Kroffat respect each other!
Time limit draw at 20 minutes
No Holds Barred
Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen vs. One Man Gang and Tiger Jeet Singh
You know what this match looked like. It wasn’t pretty, all four men bled as they beat the hell out of each other all over the ringside area. In the end, Brody tied Singh up in the ropes and then drilled One Man Gang with a boot to the head. Bruiser Brody shot One Man off the ropes for a Western Lariat from Stan Hansen, then hit the ropes for a flying knee drop on OMG to score the three count.
However, the real story happened as soon as the bell rang… when a returning Abdullah the Butcher hit the ring out of nowhere! Butcher immediately jabbed Hansen in the eye with his fork, hitting a gusher and sending Stan flailing to the canvas. Brody isn’t even up before Abdullah sets onto him with the fork, brutally jabbing him over and over on the forehead!
Abdullah the Butcher slams Brody, hits the ropes and he connects with that devastating big elbow! Hansen is just gushing bloody as Abdullah jabs him a few more time and throws him out to the floor, and then stares wild-eyed at the carnage he’d caused in the ring. Abdullah the Butcher storms off through the ropes and threatens fans as he charges back to the dressing room!
Winners Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen via pinfall @ 9.00

Grudge Match!
Rollerball Rocco, William Regal, Tiger Mask II and Black Tiger vs. Bruce Hart, International TV Champion Owen Hart, Flyin’ Brian Pillman and Mystery Partner
Rollerball, his fellow countryman William Regal and the Sons of the Tiger are waiting in the ring as Def Leppard’s ‘Action! Not Words’ begins playing in the arena. Out come the Hart brothers and Flyin’ Brian by themselves - will they enter this match with a numbers disadvantage? No because making his first appearance since being attacked by the Sons of the Tiger and Rocco weeks ago is the young Wolverine Chris Benoit! The Harts and their allies hit the ring, but Rocco quickly shoos his side out to the floor.
Pillman, Owen and Benoit take their turns working over Black Tiger once the bell rings, with the masked man eating a variety of suplexes and aerial kicks before finally tagging in Tiger Mask II. Bruce Hart is in now as well, and he immediately gets a jumping kick to the chest from Tiger Mask II. The second generation Tiger Mask quickly isolates Bruce with a back suplex, and then a cradle suplex in quick succession for a near fall. Rocco now tags in and he gets his kicks in before trying to choke the life out of Bruce Hart. Bruce constantly tries to get to his corner, but he’s stopped each time.
Rollerball tries to go for a belly-to-back, but Bruce Hart puts on the breaks and rolls through with a victory fall with a near fall. While Rocco does kick out, the momentum propels Bruce into this corner to make the big tag to Owen Hart! The youngest Hart brother storms the ring with a dropkick that sends Rocco bouncing like a pinball back into his corner, where he tags in William Regal. Regal is in and immediately eats a dropkick too - and Owen deals out more for Black Tiger, Tiger Mask II and Rollerball Rocco as they each enter the ring illegally. This brings in Chris Benoit who connects with a snap suplex on Black Tiger, and then dropkicks him out to the floor. Benoit hits the ropes, propels himself over the top rope and crashing down onto Black Tiger on the floor!
Bruce Hart has a head of steam too and catches Tiger Mask II with a crossbody that sends both tumbling through the middle and top rope out to the floor. Flyin’ Brian backdrops Rollerball Rocco out to the apron and dropkicks him right down to the floor. As Rocco tries to pull himself up, Flyin’ Brian has climbed up top. It’s Air Pillman as he dives from all the way from the top rope down onto Rocco on the floor! A truly incredible string of aerial maneuvers!
Back in the ring, Owen scores with a rocker dropper for a two count on Regal. Now, Owen Hart climbs up himself and gives the fans a ‘Woo’ with a double thumbs up gesture! Hart dives off with a missile dropkick, but he took too long and Regal slides out of the way. Owen has knocked the wind out of himself and as he stumbles up, Regal hooks into a nasty arm-trap neckbreaker! What a move! Regal with the cover hooking both legs for the one… two… three! William Regal has just pinned International TV Champion Owen Hart right in the middle of the ring. The victorious Regal has his arms raised by Tiger Mask II and Black Tiger on the floor as Rollerball Rocco chuckles. In the ring, Brian Pillman and Chris Benoit challenge their enemies to come back and fight as Bruce Hart ties to help a dizzy Owen shake off the cobwebs.
Winners Rollerball Rocco, William Regal, Tiger Mask II and Black Tiger via pinfall @ 15.21
The Rematch!
Rick Martel vs. Tom Zenk
These two frequent tag team partners and close friends have been having issues over the last month. This match was signed after Rick Martel seemingly used a low blow to pin Tom Zenk on Stampede Wrestling TV - although Martel insisted it was a mistake. Martel and Zenk start off by shaking hands, and then lock up here. Zenk takes Martel down with an arm drag, and Martel shrugs with a smile as he circles his good friend. Another lock-up allows Martel shoot Zenko off the ropes this time, leap frog him and connect with a big forearm to the kisser.
Rick Martel goes for the cover, but Zenk is out at two. These two trade momentum for the next ten minutes or so, and the action just gets more and more fast and furious. Z-Man manages to apply a side-headlock, with Martel yanking his hair to break the hold and then immediately apologizing once he’s warned by the referee. Zenk elbows him the face right in the middle of that warning and gut-wrenches him to the canvas. Zenk with the cover for another close two count!
Z-Man now shoots Martel off the ropes, but Rick dodges a cross-body attempt and Zenk crashes into the canvas. Rick Martel now locks in the full nelson, bridges it backwards into a suplex and keeps his hands interlocked for a pin attempt. However, referee John Bonello does not see one of Martel’s legs propped up against the bottom turnbuckle pad and counts the three! The fans are booing after the match, but neither Zenk or the referee are any the wiser. Tom Zenk reluctantly sticks out his hand to shake, and the smiling Martel heartily shakes it. Rick Martel is hearing a surprising amount of boos as he raises his arms in victory, which neither the referee or Tom Zenk understand.
Winner Rick Martel via pinfall @ 17.46
International Tag Team Championship
The Samoans with Abu Wizal (c) vs. The Fabulous Rougeaus
This rivalry has torn through Canada over the last few months in the aftermath of the Samoans ending the in-ring career of Jacques and Raymond’s younger brother Armand Rougeau. Raymond and Samu start off the contest and take the contest to the mat to open up this all-important title match. Samu manages to gain the edge by leg-whipping Raymond and then levels him with a savate kick! Samu then tags in his cousin, and he manages to stomp Raymond over and over again before being forced out of the ring by the referee. Fatu takes over and connects with a leaping leg drop across the chest.
The Samoans manage to keep control with quick tags and double-teaming for several minutes as the crowd cries out for Raymond to make the tag. Samu manages to lock Raymond in a side headlock, but Raymond eventually manages to fight his way out of it. Raymond goes for a tag, but Fatu is in and connects with a vicious sidekick to the face! He then drags Samu back into the corner. Samu tags in Fatu, who comes in and reapplies that side headlock.
Jacques is now attempting to rally the fans to support Raymond and manages to get a ‘Let’s Go Raymond’ chant going pretty strong in the PNE Auditorium. Raymond finally feeds off the support and fights his way back to his knees and clobbers Fatu with several elbows to the gut. Fatu releases the hold, but Samu is in right away to headbutt Raymond, again preventing the tag! Fatu rolls over to his corner and tags in Samu, who charges in and goes for a diving headbutt! Raymond shoots up for a forearm strike that drills Samu across the eyes mid-headbutt!
Raymond catches Fatu with a few uppercuts and then leaps into his corner and makes the hot tag! Jacques comes in and catches both Samoans with rights and lefts, eventually knock Samu out to the floor. Now, Jacques makes the tag back to Raymond as he suplexes Fatu right into the center of the ring. As Jacques connects with the snap suplex, Raymond leaps off the top rope with a sit down splash and stays on top of Fatu for the one… two… three! The Fabulous Rougeaus have done it! They’ve regained the International Tag Team Titles and scored some revenge on the Samoans at last! After the match, Jacques grabs the microphone.
Jacques Rougeau: ‘We just want to thank all the Canadian fans for standing by us! This win is especially dedicated to our fans in Montreal and the province of Quebec, the crown jewel of Canada! Nous vous aimons, Québec!”
A slightly muted reaction after that rather oddly-timed dedication, since Vancouver is in Western Canada - but the Rougeaus continue to celebrate their huge title victory here tonight at IWA All Star Assault!
Winners New International Tag Team Champions Fabulous Rougeaus via pinfall @ 13.10

Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship versus UWA Heavyweight Championship
Terry ‘Bamm Bamm’ Gordy vs. Bad News Allen
IWA president Lou Thesz is at ringside for this title versus title contest, which is expected to be especially heated after Bad News Allen sent Freebird Michael Hayes running away from Canada a few weeks back with a brutal beatdown. Terry Gordy and Bad News are in the ring now so this highly anticipated champion versus champion contest can get underway. Bad News gains the advantage over the furious Gordy early on and he manages to hit a shoulder-breaker early on that almost puts Terry Gordy away very quickly. However, Terry Gordy is able to soon dodge a clothesline and he whips around to drill Bad News with a spine-buster. Bamm Bamm with the cover and he almost gets the three, but Coage somehow is able to kick out! Terry Gordy grabs Bad News by the back of the neck and slams him head first into the turnbuckle a few times and then connects with a brutal elbow strike to the forehead.
The force behind the blow causes Bad News to skid backwards and crash into the canvas. Terry Gordy is right on top of him with rights and lefts! Terry Gordy then goes up to the second rope and measures for an elbow drop, but Bad News gets the foot up! Bad News pulls himself up and then kicks Terry Gordy on the back of the head a few times, before scaling the ropes himself. Terry Gordy slowly gets back to his feet and when he turns around, Bad News flies off the top and connects with a leaping chop to the back of the neck!
Bad News Allen goes for the cover and hooks the leg, but somehow Gordy is able to kick out just before the three count! Once Terry staggers up, Bad News approaches from behind and locks in the sleeper! Gordy is trying wildly to get out of this, but he’s fading! Are we on the verge of a winner? Out of desperation, Terry Gordy charges forward towards the ropes, and he manages to duck down just in time and Bad News tumbles out to the apron. Now Gordy hooks Bad News Allen and suplexes over the top rope and back into the middle of the ring!
Terry Gordy makes the cover again here, but Coage kicks out at the last second! Gordy is beside himself wondering just what it will take to finish off Bad News Allen here at All Star Assault? Bamm Bamm pulls Allen up, but Coage stuns him with some shots to the stomach. Terry lands a knee to the gut and then another elbow to the back of the head. Terry Gordy hits the ropes here and he connects with a Harley Race-style high knee to the chin!
Bad News tumbles backwards into the corner. Allen Coage is trying to shake off the effects of that blow to the head, but Gordy quickly shoots him off the ropes! Bamm Bamm makes a fatal error here as he ducks down for a back-drop, allowing Bad News to drill him with a forearm strike across the back of the neck. Bad News leaps up now - and he connects with the enziguri!
Bad News with the cover after the enziguri for the one… two… no! Gordy is out at the last second! You have to give both of these men so much credit for their incredible fortitude in this championship match here at All Star Assault. The two are slow to their feet, and Gordy strikes first with a big knee to the stomach. Gordy now pulls Bad News in - is he going for the power bomb here?
No, Bad News shoves Gordy away and strikes with a boot to the gut himself. Now it’s Bad News Allen pulling Terry Gordy in, he hoists the Triple Crown Champion up… and plants him in a pile-driver! Bad News now with the cover for the one… two… three! Bad News Allen has done it! The UWA Heavyweight Champion has just pinned the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion to unify four wrestling titles from around the globe! As Gordy powders after the match, Lou Thesz steps into the ring to hand Bad News Allen both belts and asks for the microphone from Eric Bischoff.
Lou Thesz: ‘I’d like to be the first to congratulate the brand new… IWA World Heavyweight Champion! Band News Allen, congratulations!’
Bad News shakes Lou’s hand and raises both belts over his head, bringing this first-ever IWA All Star Assault to an incredible close here in Vancouver!
Winner New IWA World Heavyweight Champion Bad News Allen via pinfall @ 21:37
