Eric Bischoff: "Late breaking news from the International Wrestling Association, fans. Promoter Stu Hart and IWA president Lou Thesz have put together a tournament to crown the International Jr. Heavyweight Champion. But not just any tournament! This will be Super Juniors '88 - bringing together 16 of the greatest light heavyweights, junior heavyweights and cruiserweights from all across the globe as they strive to stay alive in a single-elimination competition for grappling supremacy.
"We have top young athletes from Canada, the United States, India, Northern Ireland, Japan and Mexico all on their way to the International Wrestling Association to compete in the sporting extravaganza we're calling Super Juniors '88.
"The Super Juniors '88 tournament will begin in February on 'Stampede Wrestling' and culminate on Tuesday, February 28 with Super Juniors '88 quarters, semis and finals in Los Angeles at the Fabulous Forum airing live on CTV. We'll have more details, the brackets and the opening round next week on 'Stampede Wrestling' on CTV. Right now, let's meet the 16 international superstars in the running to become the International Jr. Heavyweight Champion!"
