Ed Whalen and his brand new broadcast partner Eric Bischoff welcome us to the Corral in Calgary for another exciting edition of Stampede Wrestling. We are one week away from All Star Assault in Vancouver, where Terry Gordy will defend his title against Bad News Allen. Tonight, we’ll see Rick Martel face off with his friend Tom Zenk in an exhibition match. Plus, we’ll have Flyin’ Brian Pillman, Bruce Hart and International TV Champion Owen Hart against Rollerball Rocco and the Sons of the Tiger.
.
.
Match one- ‘US Male’ Curtis Thompson vs. Ben Bassarab
Curtis Thompson once again gets a chilly reception from fans as he flexes incessantly before the bell. The US Male poses right in Ben Bassarab’s face, which is a mistake as Bassarab drills him with a headbutt. Bassarab flusters Thompson with a string of uppercuts and a belly-to-belly suplex. However, Thompson dodges a Dynamite Kid-esque flying headbutt and levels Bassarab with a lariat. The US Male pulls Bassarab up and plants him with that reverse piledriver for the three count. Another impressive by the very annoying ‘US Male’ Curtis Thompson.

Interview: Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Terry Gordy is none too pleased about Bad News Allen crippling his Freebird brother Michael Hayes last week. Gordy tells Ed Whalen it’s true that Hayes has left Canada so he never has to face Bad News again, but Bamm Bamm doesn’t ever back down from a fight. Terry acknowledges that Bad News Allen might actually be the Ultimate Warrior, but even an Ultimate Warrior is no match for 285 lbs of rompin’ stompin’ graveyard destruction. Whalen mentions that Bad News Allen is at this very moment in Mexico battling Mil Mascaras for the UWA Heavyweight Title - and if he wins it could add a whole new dimension to next weekend’s title match. Gordy agrees and says if Allen wins, it will be Triple Crown Champion against UWA Champion. Gordy thinks the winner of that match is a rightful world champion.

Match two - Doug Furnas vs. Dan Kroffat
This match is the debut of Doug Furnas, who set powerlifting records down in the United States. His opponent here is the former International Tag Team Champion Dan Kroffat. Furnas uses his power to his advantage with a press slam and a vicious gutwrench suplex. However, Kroffat fights back and uses his speed to drill Furnas with a frankensteiner for a near fall. Furnas goes for a belly-to-back suplex, but Furnas puts on the breaks with some belows, reverses and goes for a belly-to-back suplex of his own when the bell rings. It’s a 10 minute time limit draw for these two impressive young athletes.

Match three - Bruce Hart, Owen Hart and Flyin’ Brian Pillman vs. Sons of the Tiger and Rollerball Rocco
Before the match even begins, Rollerball Rocco asks for the microphone and tells his opponents that they don’t deserve to face him in the ring. So, his Sons of the Tiger will team with another of his proteges… from the snake pits of Wigan, William Regal. The young British wrestler is very impressive as he and the Sons of the Tiger take the fight to the Harts. A strange turn of events happens late in the match when referee John Bonello gets knocked to the canvas. As Tiger Mask II and Flyin’ Brian fight on the floor alongside Owen Hart and Black Tiger II, Bruce Hart is taking the fight to William Regal in the ring. However, from the crowd comes a man dressed in a black bodysuit with a yellow-and-red mask. This man hits the ring and drills Bruce with a vicious clothesline! Now this masked man scoops up Bruce Hart and plants him into the canvas with a fallaway slam! This masked man rolls out of the ring, hops the rail and escapes. Meanwhile, William Regal and Rollerball Rocco seem as confused as anyone by this turn of events, but Regal makes the cover as Rocco redirects the groggy referee John Bonello to make the three count! Eric Bischoff and Ed Whalen are totally confused by the turn of events we just saw.

.
Interview: Ed Whalen steps into the ring as Rollerball Rocco celebrates with William Regal and the Sons of the Tiger on the floor. Flyin’ Brian and Owen Hart are helping up a dazed Bruce Hart, who explains he was attacked by a masked man. Pillman knows this was another scam by Rollerball Rocco, and he’s sick and tired of these games! Bruce Hart wants Rollerball Rocco in the ring at the All Star Assault in Vancouver and he’s going to teach him a lesson once and for all. Owen Hart knows Rocco thinks he has a numbers advantage - but he wants Rocco to know they’ll a good friend here watching their back next week!

Interview: Lee Marshall is backstage with Abu Wizal and International Tag Team Champions the Samoans to talk about the All Star Assault. Wizal promises that his Samoans will destroy the Rougeau brothers once and for all in front of all of these moronic Canadian fans. Wizal has paid a lot of money for the Samoans, and they will deliver on that investment by completely obliterating one of Canada’s greatest wrestling families. At the All Star Assault, this war with the Rougeaus will end once and for all.
TV Main Event: Rick Martel vs. Tom Zenk
These frequent tag team partners and friends start off the match by shaking hands. They got to lock up and a struggle back-and-forth a bit, before Rick Martel elbows Z-Man in the stomach and shoots him off the ropes. Z-Man ducks a clothesline attempt and drills Martel with a leaping shoulder-block, which floors the former AWA World Champion! Rick Martel takes a second to regain his wits and then bounces off the ropes, slowly gets up and goes for a dropkick, but Tom Zenk ducks out of it. Rick Martel lands back on the mat and Tom Zenk grabs a hold of Rick Martel, connects with a boot to the stomach, and plants him with a belly-to-back release suplex. Tom Zenk goes for the cover, but he only gets a two count. Rick Martel pulls himself up, but Tom Zenk grabs him from behind and drops him to the mat with a full-nelson slam that may have seriously injured the neck of Rick Martel. Tom Zenk then goes up to the top rope and perches as Rick Martel gets to his feet and once he does, Tom Zenk glides off the ropes and connects with a cross-body splash and stays on top for the cover, but he can only get a two count once again!
Tom Zenk looks to be as focused as ever here and he pulls Rick Martel to his feet, but Rick Martel reverses and cradles him for a very long two count. Tom pops right back up and goes for a dropkick, but Rick Martel moves out of the way and Z-Man hits the mat. Tom Zenk is back to his feet, but Rick Martel a knee to the gut, and another. Zenk is doubled over, but Martel goes for another knee! Hold on, that one looked below the belt! In the heat of the moment, Martel rolls up Z-Man into a small package and gets the three count! Rick Martel has beat his friend Tom Zenk - although that finish was a bit questionable.
After the match, Rick Martel helps his friend Tom Zenk back to his feet. Zenk isn’t happy and he’s confronting Martel over the low knee strike, but Rick is shrugging like he has no idea what his friend is talking about. These two argue as Eric Bischoff and Ed Whalen wrap up this week’s show.
Eric Bischoff: I can announce fans, we’ve just received a call from our correspondent Milt Avruskin in Mexico City. It’s official, Bad News Allen has just won the UWA Heavyweight Title from Mil Mascaras!
Ed Whalen: Fans, we’re out of time! What a huge announcement that is! We’ll bring you all of the fallout next week! In the meantime, and the in between time, this is Ed Whalen saying good night!
