“From coast to coast, continent to continent, and border to border, this is the AWA, the Major Leagues of Professional Wrestling!”
Opening Clip: Last Week On Championship Wrestling:
. . . Slater hits Sawyer with the Russian Legsweep and quickly moves into a pinning predicament for the 1, 2, 3! Per the stipulations, Sawyer must leave the AWA!!!
He’s not going to go quietly, though, as he gets in Sgt. Slaughter’s face, claiming Slaughter made a fast count! Slaughter doesn’t back down, and when Sawyer shoves him, Sarge nails the Mad Dog with a big right hand!
All hell breaks loose at that point! Matt Borne jumps Slaughter, with Dick Slater and Ole Anderson then attacking Borne. This brings the other members of the Pringle Dynasty, Butch Reed and Rick Rude into the ring, and they start brawling with Ole and Slater!
While that’s going, Buzz Sawyer attacks Slaughter from behind, then he and Borne tie Slaughter’s arms up in the ropes, and take turns punching and kicking him! Percy Pringle slides a chair into the ring, and Borne blasts Slaughter in the head with it!
At that point, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams and Terry Taylor arrive on the scene, with Taylor going right at Butch Reed, and Williams attacking Sawyer and Borne, before turning his attention to Rick Rude.
END CLIP
Rod Trongard opens the show, and welcomes his co-host, Magnum TA.
Trongard and Magnum talk about the footage we just saw, Trongard says that the Pringle Dynasty has been fined $5,000 for attacking Sgt. Slaughter who was the official for the match, so assaulting him carries the same penalty as if they had assaulted any of the other AWA officials.
We go now to comments from Sgt. Slaughter, recorded after Slaughter had been bandaged up following last week’s show.
Sgt. Slaughter is backstage, his head heavily bandaged, dried blood on his face. Slaughter says that he called the match right down the middle, and by attacking him, Pringle and his goons showed the type of men they are. He says that the AWA fans deserve better than to have to sit and watch these cowards run around, ganging up on people and hitting people with chairs. Slaughter promises the fans that he will help men like Steve Williams and Terry Taylor rid the AWA of Pringle’s goons, then issues a challenge to whichever one of those cowards has the guts to face him in the ring.
Back in the arena, Trongard says that Sgt. Slaughter wasn’t cleared to wrestle tonight, as he sustained a concussion last week, thanks to the repeated chair shots from Rude, Reed and Borne.
Magnum says he knows the Sarge very well, and he knows Slaughter won’t take this lying down!

THE ROCK N’ ROLL EXPRESS: RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON VS. THE MOONDOGS: REX & SPOT. On commentary, Rod and Magnum put the ‘Dogs over as former WWF Tag Team champions, and one of the toughest, most unorthodox teams in wrestling. Despite that, the Rock n’ Roll Express get the win when Gibson pins Spot following a double dropkick.
Larry Nelson conducts a ringside interview with Percival Pringle III, AWA World champion Rick Rude and AWA World TV champion Butch Reed.
VTR: Butch Reed vs Steve Doll:
Late in the match, former TV champ Terry Taylor makes his way out, just as Reed did during Taylor’s match earlier. Taylor picks up the TV title belt off the timekeeper’s table, and straps it around his waist. Reed notices this, and flips out, yelling at Taylor to get his hands off his belt! While this is going on, Doll rolls Reed up from behind, but the Hacksaw kicks out at the very last second!
Reed tries to leave the ring to get at Taylor, but Doll grabs him and pulls him back into the ring. Reed responds by jabbing a thumb into Doll’s eye, then rolls out of the ring and starts brawling with Terry Taylor at ringside! Reed and Taylor trade punches on the floor, and Reed doesn’t even notice that the referee is counting him out! The ref gets to 10, and calls for the bell, awarding the match to Doll by count-out!
Reed is livid! He throws Taylor into the ringpost, then jumps back into the ring and pounces on Doll! Reed stuns Doll with a hard right hand to the head, then bounces off the ropes and nearly takes Doll’s head off with a lariat, causing the youngster to do a full flip in the air before hitting the mat! Reed then runs the ropes again, and drops a knee across Doll’s head.
Taylor jumps into the ring and attacks Reed, and they continue to brawl until finally several referees and a group of wrestlers rush out to the ring to separate them and check on Steve Doll.
END VTR
Nelson says that after what happened last week, the AWA has signed a tag team match for later tonight, with Reed and Rude taking on Terry Taylor and Steve Doll. Reed laughs and says that after the beating he gave Steve Doll last week, he doubts that little punk will even show up!
Rick Rude says he and Reed are a couple of purebred stallions, and then compares Taylor to a fly that buzzes around, and says that tonight, he and Reed are going to squash that fly!
Percy Pringle then talks about the comments from Sgt. Slaughter that we saw earlier in the show. He can’t believe that Slaughter claims that he called the match right down the middle, Percy says that Slaughter let Slater and Ole break whatever rules they wanted, while at the same time, doing everything he could to thwart Sawyer and Borne! He says that Slaughter got exactly what he deserved, and says that Slaughter calling himself an American hero is a joke! He says that Rude, Reed and Matt Borne, THEY are the TRUE American heroes around here!

“SUPERFLY” JIMMY SNUKA VS. VIC RAIN. The man from the Fiji Islands takes on the double-tough veteran from Canada. Rain gives Snuka a tough time, but in the end Snuka gets the win by pinfall with the Superfly Splash.
Larry Nelson is ringside with “Dr. Death” Steve Williams. Williams talks about Rick Rude, and says that every time he gets in the ring with Rude, he gets closer and closer to winning the World title. He says that all he needs is a match, where Pringle or his goons can’t interfere, and he’ll beat Rude and take the belt!
BIG VAN VADER (w/ General Skandor Akbar) VS. JAKE MILLIMAN. The AWA fans have never seen anything quite like Big Van Vader, the monster from the Rocky Mountains. Before he will start the match, Vader sets his helmet down on the mat, and then stands on the second turnbuckle, as smoke shoots from the helmet. Vader’s entrance lasts longer than the match does, as he immediately pounces on Milliman, and puts poor Jake away with a splash from the second rope after only about 30 seconds!

Larry Nelson is standing by with Terry Taylor and Steve Doll. Taylor says that he and Doll are going to make Butch Reed pay for the attack on Doll last week, and Taylor says that Rick Rude being Reed’s partner is an added bonus, because if he or Doll pin Rude, it will put them right in line for a shot at the World title.
Doll says that he couldn’t ask for a better tag team partner for this match than Terry Taylor, and he tells Nelson that they will be victorious!
“MANIAC” MATT BORNE (w/ Percival Pringle III) VS. MITCH SNOW. Borne gets the win with a bridging German suplex.
After the match, Borne grabs the mic from Larry Nelson, and says that if Slaughter is looking for a fight, he would be more than happy to give him one!
Larry Nelson then interviews Capt. Lou Albano at ringside. Albano introduces his Islanders: Haku & Tama and says that they will be the next AWA World Tag Team champions!
THE ISLANDERS: HAKU & TAMA (w/ Capt. Lou Albano) VS. THE TOP GUNS: DERRICK DUKES & RICKY RICE. Dukes and Rice are an impressive young team, and they give the Islanders a tough match. However, in the end, the Islanders get the win when Haku comes in illegally, and catches Dukes in the face with a savate kick, while Albano distracts the ref, and Tama, the legal man, then comes off the top rope with a splash for the pinfall.

“RAVISHING” RICK RUDE & “HACKSAW” BUTCH REED (w/ Percival Pringle III) VS. TERRY TAYLOR & STEVE DOLL. We get an action-packed main event from these two teams. Late in the match, Terry Taylor and Butch Reed brawl on the floor, while inside the ring, Rick Rude hits Doll with the Rude Awakening for the pinfall.
After getting his hand raised, Rude hits a second Rude Awakening neckbreaker! As Rude pulls Doll up and looks to set him up for a third neckbreaker, Steve Williams hits the ring! Williams pounces on Rude, and two brawl, as referees and wrestlers try to get in between them as the show comes to an end.
As Rude and Williams are finally separated in the ring, Rod Trongard informs us that we’re out of time, and he and Magnum quickly hype next week’s show.
