McMahon, “Jesse, we're getting close to the ‘Royal Rumble’, tonight we announce the last two entrants in the ‘Rumble’!”
Ventura, “McMahon, this is going to be one of the greatest nights in wrestling history! The ‘Royal Rumble’ is going to be the most dangerous match of all time!”
McMahon, “We will see Hulk Hogan in action as well.”
Ventura, “This might be the last time you see him. When Andre gets ahold of the ‘Hulkster’, it’s going to be all over!”
Ventura, “1988 is going to be a great year!”
Match #1
Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Terry Gibbs
“The Snake” takes on the veteran Gibbs. Terry goes right after Jake. Roberts is very sharp. We takes over and wins with the DDT. He covers him for the fall. Jake them and pulls Damien out of the bag and covers Gibbs with him.

Honky Tonk Man w/”Colonel” Jimmy Hart vs. Chris Carter
Honky shakes, “sings”, and dances before the match. The popular Carter is no pushover. Chris starts fast, and the man from Memphis is frustrated. He takes to the floor to confer with Hart. HTM returns to the ring, and goes after Chris. Carter is game, but Honky uses shake, rattle, and roll for the win.
Winner-Honky Tonk Man
Sean Mooney is seated at the “Royal Rumble” control center.
Mooney, “Welcome to the ‘Royal Rumble’ control center. January 22 is fast approaching. We will be at the Providence Civic Center, and live on the USA Network. Bell time is 8:00 PM. We have an exciting night of action.

For the Intercontinental Championship, the Ultimate Warrior defends against Mr. Perfect
And we have a big contract signing, on February 17, the WWF comes to network television with the ‘Main Event’ live on NBC. The contract for the main event will be signed in Providence. Randy Savage will challenge Ted DiBiase for the WWF Title. There very well may be fireworks.
Now let’s talk about the ‘Royal Rumble’ itself. Two men begin in the ring, and then every two minutes a new man enters, until 20 men are in the match. To be eliminated, a man must be thrown over the top rope, and his feet must touch the floor. The last man standing is the winner. So far, we know that these men will compete,
Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Tony Atlas, Nikolai Volkoff, Earthquake, Billy Jack Haynes, Honky Tonk Man, Brutus Beefcake, Paul Roma, Jim Powers, S.D. Jones, Demolition Ax, Demolition Smash, Bam Bam Bigelow, Shawn Michaels, Marty Jannetty and Jake Roberts. There will also be a ‘Mystery Wrestler’ involved. We still do not know who that will be.
That is 18 men. Today. We can announce the final two entrants. Look at this.”
We see Andre the Giant and Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan.
Heenan, “That’s right you humanoids, Andre the Giant will be in the ‘Royal Rumble’! Andre is the king of the battle royals, and he’ll be the king of the ‘Royal Rumble’!”
Mooney, “Andre the Giant Is a big addition, but so is this man.”
We see video of Hulk Hogan in action.
Mooney, “Hulk Hogan will be in the ‘Royal Rumble’! Fans, get to Providence, and if you can’t, tune in to the USA Network!”

Non-Title Match
The Ultimate Warrior (Intercontinental Champion) vs. Gary Royal
The Champion hits the ring with a bang. Royal doesn't know what ht him. Warrior hammers away, and Royal is in retreat. Royal gets in a few shots, but Warrior is too much. He slams Royal, and uses the splash for the win.
Winner-The Ultimate Warrior

Brad Rheingans vs. Mr. Perfect w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
Rheingans is a very skilled wrestler, as is Perfect. Both men have race hold for hold. They both get nearfalls. Heenan looks very worried. He shouts instructions to Perfect. Rheingans looks very good, but Perfect is able to mount a comeback. He takes over and uses the Perfect place for the three count.
Winner-Mr. Perfect

The Nasty Boys w/Jimmy Hart vs. The Young Stallions
Two top Tag teams meet. The popular Stallions receive a huge ovation. Jimmy Hart’s Nasty Boys are not popular, but they are tough. Sags and Powers open the contest. Jim uses his speed, and Sags fights back with power. The crowd loves the action. Powers gets a two count, but Sags kicks out. Knobbs tags in, and he traps Powers in the Nasty’s corner. They double team Jim. Powers is able to escape, and tag in Roma. Paul cleans house, but he he jumped from behind by Sags. In the confusion, Knobbs goes for the cover, and referee Tim White counts the fall.
Winners-The Nasty Boys
“Mean” Gene Okerlund is with Hulk Hogan.
Okerlund, “With me is Hulk Hogan. Hulkster, you are entered in the ‘Royal Rumble’, and so is Andre the Giant! Most expect you two to have some sort of showdown in Providence.”
Hogan, “Let me tell you something ‘Mean’ Gene, I hope we meet, nose to nose, in the middle of the ring! I want to stare into the eyes of that big, stinky, Giant! I want to see the fear in his eyes! Then I’m going to pick up the 900 lbs. Giant, and toss him into the 15th row! Andre, I want you, and I want to toss you into orbit! Whatcha’ gonna’ do when ‘Hulkamania’ runs wild over you!”
Okerlund, “Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant are on a collision course, and it may come to a head at the ‘Royal Rumble’!”

Hulk Hogan vs. The Super Assassin
The Super Assassin is a huge man, in yellow and black tights, and a mask to match. He waits with referee Earl Hebner. We hear,
Hulk Hogan comes down the aisle, and the crowd explodes. He climbs into the ring, and begins to tear off his T--shirt. The Assassin attacks Hogan. The giant masked man pounds away at Hulk. The “Hulkster” is in trouble. The Assassin continues the assault until the Ft. Wayne crowd’s cheers beefing Hogan to his feet. The legend draws on these cheers to mount a comeback. He slams the Super Assassin, and hits the legdrop. Hebner counts the fall, and the crowd explodes! He celebrates and poses in the ring.
Winner-Hulk Hogan
Andre the Giant and Bobby Heenan slowly walk to ringside. Heenan takes the mic.
Heenan, “Go ahead and celebrate you big goof! Andre is ready! January 22 is your last night Hogan. We are going to end your career that night, and all these humanoids are going to be in shock, and in tears. We’re not going to touch you today. We’re waiting for the ‘Royal Rumble’!”
Andre and Heenan leave ringside.
Vince McMahon, and Jesse Ventura close the show.
McMahon, “Jesse, it didn’t look like Andre wanted any part of the ‘Hulkster’, he didn’t even try to get in the ring.”
Ventura, “Of course not McMahon. You don’t get paid for jumping in the ring unscheduled. At the ‘Royal Rumble’, when Andre tosses the ‘Chumpster’ out of the ring, he’s going to make big money! Heenan, and Andre are no dummies, they know what they’re doing!”
McMahon, “I don’t think so, Jesse, I think he’s scared! Anyway, the ‘Royal Rumble’ is a week away. Remember, January 22, live on the USA Network! Next week, on WWF Superstars’ will be a recap of 1987, then in two weeks, the fallout from the ‘Royal Rumble’!”
