It’s a familiar sight right away for many fans as the one and only Ed Whalen joins us at ringside for another edition of International Wrestling.
Ed Whalen: Well, hi there everybody. I’m Ed Whalen - it’s been quite some time since I darkened the door at a wrestling card but it’s so nice to be back! We have quite an hour of wrestling for you tonight. The big man, Triple Crown Champion Terry Gordy, is here and he will defend against Hercules Ayala. Right now, we have a big match in the ring!
The entrance music begins playing in the Agridome:
IT'S BRUISER BRODY AND STAN HANSEN!!!!!
Ed ‘The Bull’ Gantner and Blackstud Williams vs. Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody
It’s absolute mayhem as Hansen and Brody storm down to ringside, with the Bruiser swinging his chain overhead as the Bad Man from Borger flings his rope all over the place. The two hit the ring and immediately begin brawling with Gantner and the Blackstud. Brody and Hansen destroy their intimidating opponents. Brody whips Blackstud into a Lariat from Hansen and then comes off the ropes with a big knee drop to score the pin!
Winners: Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody
Milt Avruskin is joined at ringside by the riotous Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody after their victory.
Milt Avruskin: What an incredible…
Bruiser Brody: HUSS! HUSS! I don’t need no TV announcer askin’ questions! See, there’s one reason ol’ Bruiser Brody is here and that’s money. Who makes the most money? The Triple Crown Champion. Well Big Bad Terry Gordy, you got that belt and that means yer makin’ more money than me! Not for long! I want yer belt and I'm gonna take it! HUSS! HUSS!
Stan Hansen: There ain’t nothin’ Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody wouldn’t do for money. Just you remember that! I got me a big fat wife and nine hungry kids at home. I ain’t here in Canada to make friends. I wanna fight and make money! I'll fight Gordy, I'll fight you Mr. Announcer, hell I'll even fight Brody! And he'll fight me! We love to fiiiiight!
There’s commotion at this point as Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Terry Gordy storms out of the dressing room, with Michael Hayes trying to hold him back.
Bruiser Brody: Hey big boy, you want a piece of me? You got me! Next week, how about you and that sissy get in the ring with the most dangerous team in rasslin’? You got the guts?
Michael Hayes is pulling Terry Gordy away now as the Triple Crown Champion barks back at Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Do we have a blockbuster match set for next week?

… [joined in progress] Gorgeous Jimmy pulls something out of his tights and jabs Martel in the throat. Garvin then plants Martel with a DDT with the strap wrapped around his neck. Jimmy Garvin with the cover to steal a victory over Rick Martel in front of Ricky’s hometown crowd. Garvin flees as soon as the strap is removed, and a furious Rick Martel is close on his trail once he gets back to his feet.
[End VTR]
Ed Whalen: Well there you have it, fans. It was a real ring-a-ding-dong-dandy in Quebec City, but now it’s Ricky Martel’s turn for revenge as he gets Jimmy Garvin in the ring one more time. Let’s go up to the ring.
‘Gorgeous’ Jimmy Garvin vs. Rick Martel
Rick Martel is a man possessed as he jumps Jimmy Garvin in the aisle way and begins brawling with the man who has caused him so much embarrassment in the past. Martel throws Garvin head-first into the steel post, and Gorgeous Jimmy is bleeding before Martel even throws him into the ring. Garvin tries to fight back, but Martel is vicious in assaulting him. Late in the match, referee Wayne Hart is dazed when Martel reverses a whip and sends Garvin tumbling into the official. Rick Martel dropkicks Garvin, rolls out to the floor and grabs a chair! Martel rolls back into the ring and busts the bloody Garvin across the forehead with the chair! Martel shakes Wayne Hart, and the dazed referee makes the three count. The fans are a bit shocked by Martel’s aggressiveness. Rick Martel looks ready to continue the attack after the match, but his friend Tom Zenk arrives to calm him down.
Winner: Rick Martel
Ed Whalen: Ricky Martel, I understand your frustration with Jimmy Garvin. He’s a weasel to the highest order. That said, I don’t think chairs have any place in a wrestling ring!
Rick Martel: Mr. Whalen, you’re new around here. You haven’t seen me getting back-jumped for two months, so I don't think you have the full picture. I’ve tried to fight fair. I respect the rules of professional wrestling, but too many others don’t! You may not like it, I don’t like either, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire!
Tom Zenk: Listen Ed, all of our temperatures can run a bit hot from time to time. Rick, you got your revenge. It’s over now, man!
Rick Martel: All due respect Z-Man, I didn’t ask for your opinion!
Ed Whalen and Tom Zenk are a little surprised as Rick Martel shrugs in frustration, steps through the ropes and makes his way back to the dressing room.

Milt Avruskin: Joining me at this time is one Chris Benoit. This young man has been very impressive since his arrival here in International Wrestling. I know Dynamite Kid inspired you to enter this sport, and you remind so many of him.
Chris Benoit: Thank you very much, Milt. It’s an honour to be compared to the great Dynamite Kid. I think I have a long way to go before I’m…
Rollerball Rocco arrives on the scene, catching both Milt Avruskin and Chris Benoit off guard.
Milt Avruskin: Umm, Rollerball Rocco. I don’t think this is your interview time.
Rollerball Rocco: It’s okay Mr. Avruskin, I can make a little bit of time for the fans and for this young man. You idolize Dynamite Kid, right? As you know, I taught Dynamite everything he knows. I always enjoy encouraging young talent. I’ll tell you what, Chris! I’ll be happy to wrestle you next week here on TV, and I’ll even show you a few things I taught Dynamite Kid.
Chris Benoit: Well... I never turn down a match. If you’d like a match with me, you’ve got it.
Rollerball Rocco: You’re welcome, my boy! Like I said, I’m always happy to encourage the next generation.
Milt Avruskin: There you have it, fans! Next week here on International Wrestling, it will be Rollerball Rocco against the promising Chris Benoit. Let’s get back to the ring.
This ominous entrance music begins playing in the Agridome.
THE WORLD-FAMOUS MAGNIFICENT MALENKOS ARE HERE IN CANADA!!!!
The Magnificent Malenkos vs. Ben Bassarab and Biff Wellington
Ed Whalen mentions that young Dean and Joe Malenko are the sons of the great Boris Malenko, a name familiar to many long-time wrestling fans. Whalen puts over all four of these young men as representative of a new kind of wrestler who will lead us into the 1990s. The Malenkos truly live up their Magnificent moniker as they use both fast-paced aerial and ground-based assaults to gain the advantage, never taking their eyes off the ball. Joe Malenko dumps Biff Wellington on his head with double-underhook suplex and then tags in his brother Dean, who applies the STF for the submission victory.
Winners: The Magnificent Malenkos
Ed Whalen: An impressive victory by the Magnificent Malenkos! We’ll be right back with my main man, Bad News Allen!

Voice: A new generation of warriors rise up and gain strength each new morning. The Sons of the Tiger are gathering. The Sons of the Tiger are coming.
[End VTR]
Ed Whalen: I dunno what that was about, folks. In any event, my main man Bad News Allen made his comeback to Canada last week in Quebec City. He outlasted the very tough Dave Finlay and the Angel of Death to win a battle royal. Let’s see the ‘Ultimate Warrior’ in action!
Bad News Allen vs. Gama Singh
The fans here in Regina have seen Bad News Allen do his share of very bad things over the years, but they’re definitely not fans of Gama Singh either. Allen and Gama have a war once the bell rings, with Singh trying his best to weaken Coage’s right leg. However, the Ultimate Warrior fights back with fury only he can muster. Singh goes to whip Bad News into the corner, but Allen puts on the breaks and sends Gama chest-first into the turnbuckle. Bad News connects with the vicious enziguri kick to the back of the head. However, before he can pin Gama, Dave ‘Fit’ Finaly and the Angel of Death hit the ring to attack Bad News. Referee Teddy Long calls for the bell.
Winner: Bad News Allen via disqualification
This strange alliance of Fit Finlay and the Angel of Death are brawling with Bad News, and Allen is holding his own against both men. However, a dazed Gama Singh dives at Bad News Allen’s leg and takes him down, allowing Finlay and AOD to stomp on him. Now, it’s all three of these hooligans working over Bad News Allen as the fans are on their feet booing. Hold on, look who’s hitting the ring!
IT'S OWEN HART!!!
International TV Champion Owen Hart scales on the top rope and he drives off with a flying splash that wipes out both Gama Singh and Fit Finlay! However, Angel of Death attacks Owen now and he’s choking the life out of the TV champion… until a groggy Bad News drills the Angel from behind. Now Owen connects with a spinning wheel kick on AOD. Gama Singh and Fit Finlay now pull Angel of Death out of the ring. It’s a strange sight to see Bad News Allen and a member of the Hart family standing tall!
Ed Whalen: Well, color me shocked! I have to say Owen, thank you for giving my main man a helping hand.
Owen Hart: First of all, it’s great to see you back here calling the matches Mr. Whalen. Secondly, this man Bad News Allen, doesn’t need anyone’s help. He and I aren’t best buddies - I’ll always remember the wars he had with members of my family. But I also respect this man! Bad News, any time you need someone to watch your back from scum like Singh, Finlay and the Angel, I’ll be there.
Bad News Allen: Like you said Hart, I didn’t ask for yourself. They call me the Ultimate Warrior, and that’s because I stand on my own. You respect me? Well, despite all that’s gone on, I respect you and I respect your family too. Finlay, you better take off with that Angel of Death and Gama Singh or you’re going to get the beating of a lifetime.
Ed Whalen: Listen up, Finlay! That’s quite a warning from the Ultimate Warrior. We’ll be right back with our main event.

… [joined in progress] Great Tenryu is able to score with a double underhook suplex and bridges it into a cover, but Gordy manages to kick out at the last second again! Tenryu pulls Gordy to his feet and decks Bamm Bamm with a shoot kick to the gut, and then he hits the ropes. Terry ducks a clothesline attempt and now he criss-crosses the ropes himself! Gordy goes air-born with a cross body block! How agile is the International Champion! Michael Hayes is cheering for his Freebird brother to make the cover, which Gordy does to once again get a two count.
Terry Gordy now slides his thumb across his throat, signaling the end! Gordy scoops Tenryu up, takes a running start and drives him into the canvas with a running Bamm Bamm Slamm! Gordy with the cover now and he gets the one… two… no! Tenryu kicks out! A flustered Gordy tries to bring Tenryu to his feet, only for Tenryu to once again fend him off with some kicks to the body. However, Gordy charges back in with a knee lift to the gut, pulls him in for a piledriver… but now lifts Tenry over his head into a move we now know as the powerbomb! The crowd is stunned as Gordy covers for the automatic three count. What a victory for Terry Gordy!

THE FREEBIRDS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE RING!
TV Main Event: Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship
Terry ‘Bamm Bamm’ Gordy w/ Michael P.S. Hayes vs. Hercules Ayala
‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ is playing the Argidome as Freebird Michael Hayes leads the Triple Crown Champion down to the ring against a match with the Puerto Rican powerhouse Hercules Ayala. Ayala comes at Gordy full-steam, but the champion drills him with a boot to the face. Gordy off the ropes and he connects with a lariat! Gordy even lets out a EUUUUUWWWWWWW in obvious mockery of Stan Hansen. Gordy comes off the ropes with a knee drop across the back of Ayala’s hand. Now, Gordy pulls Ayala in and drops him with a piledriver! Bamm Bamm with the cover, and he gets three count! Terry Gordy has just obliterated Hercules Ayala in under four minutes.
Winner: Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Terry Gordy!
After the match ends, Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen charge down to the ringside and it looks set to go here, until officials and prelim wrestlers flood the ring to prevent a brawl. Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy are on the apron, and then Hayes grabs the microphone.
Michael Hayes: Hey, you two Texas toothpicks want my big brother in the ring next week? You must have a death wish, but you got your match. I heard you out here earlier saying money makes the world go around. Well, you’re right. I bought my big brother a tag team partner! Next week, it’s Brody and Hansen against 280 lbs of rompin’ stompin’ graveyard destruction Terry Gordy… and THIS MAN.
Michael P.S. Hayes points to the aisle… and look who walks down the aisle!
MICHAEL HAYES HAS HIRED THE ONE MAN GANG!
Ed Whalen: Can the ring even hold these four men? We’ll find out next week - and don’t forget we’ll see Rollerball Rocco against Chris Benoit as well. In the mea time, and the in-between time, this is Ed Whalen saying good night and Happy New Year!
