We go to the Portland Sports Arena where Don Coss is standing by in the Crow’s Nest.
Don Coss: “Welcome ladies and gentleman to Portland Wrestling here on Channel 12 – we are so glad to be back with you again this week. What a jam-packed show we have for you today! Not only do we have a special match featuring Seattle’s own Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine, but WWA World Champion Rick Martel returns to the Northwest. That's right - WORLD Champion Rick Martel! We’ll also have the latest on the Northwest Title controversy, the announcement of the card for our first Portland Special of the year, and the debut of Buddy Rose… Wrestling Referee! Right now, let’s go to the ring!”
IT’S THE SOUTHERN ROCKERS – SCOTT PETERSON & STEVE DANE!!
THE SOUTHERN ROCKERS VS. THE CLAN
Mike Miller and Mr. Ebony look to get back on track after their title loss last week, and there’s notable tension betwee the two. Mr. Ebony starts off, and ends up wrestling the entire match by himself. When the masked man goes to tag Mike Miller, the Mean One just drops off the apron and walks off to the dressing room. The Southern Rockers aren’t keen on continuing two-on-one, until Mr. Ebony cheap-shots Peterson. Scott fights back and finishes off Mr. Ebony with a cross-body block for the three count. The Southern Rockers shake hands with the fans around ringside after the match.
Winners: The Southern Rockers
Don Coss: “There is disharmony in the Clan! After the break, I’ll be joined by the Northwest Champion Tom Zenk – who is sans belt currently. However, right now, let’s take a look at the lineup for the Portland Special – which is Tuesday, January 26 at the Portland Rose Gardena:”

PORTLAND WRESTLING
EPISODE 002
Zenk and Oliver are back up again, and trading right hands here. Zenk connects with a big dropkick for another fall, and now hooks Oliver in for a gutwrench suplex. Tom Zenk makes the cover on The Crippler here, for the one… two… hold on! Sandy Barr’s just been yanked out of the ring…
IT’S CURT HENNIG!
Curt Hennig just pulled Sandy Barr out of the ring, slides right by him and rolls under the bottom rope. Zenk turns his head to see what’s going on – just as Hennig stomps him hard across the back to the neck! Curt Hennig is all over Tom Zenk now with boots to the back, to the neck, to the head on the exhausted Northwest Champion! Tom Zenk tries to fight his way up, but Hennig boots him and drives him into the canvas with a Fisherman’s Suplex!
Rip Oliver is up now and he goes to join, but Hennig shoves the Crippler away. Oliver signals that he’s trying to help, but Hennig doesn’t want any help! Oliver is now in Hennig’s face – so Curt decks the Crippler. Now it’s Hennig all over Oliver with boots and he slams the Crippler to the canvas. Oliver starts to sit up, but Hennig hits the ropes and boots him square in the face!
Mr. Ebony hits the ring now, but Hennig decks the masked man and plants him with the Fisherman’s Suplex! Curt Hennig has left three men laying in the ring here, and now here comes Mike Miller with a chair to clear out Curt Hennig. Billy Jack Haynes and Chris Adams are at ringside now as well to tend to the fallen Tom Zenk. Meanwhile, Hennig has picked up the Northwest Title, and he’s strapped it around his waist.
Curt then grabs the ringside microphone from Don Owen.
Curt Hennig: “This is MY title. Don Owen, you tell those two goofs that if they want the Northwest Title, they can try to take it from me!”
Curt Hennig walks off with the stolen Northwest Title, despite the protest of Don Owen and referee Sandy Barr.
[END VTR]
Don Coss: “With me now is the Northwest Champion Tom Zenk. Tom, I’m sorry to say you still don’t have the title back in your possession.”
Tom Zenk: “Curt Hennig took off like a thief in the night last week. I thought he was better than that, Don. I’ve heard Don Owen and Dutch Savage have been trying to get the belt back all week, and they even threatened to sue Curt. I told them I didn’t want that!”
Don Coss: “What other measure is there to get the belt back?”
Tom Zenk: “The only way to get it back is to have Curt bring it to the Portland Special, and that’s why I demanded he be given a title match. That way we can settle this in the ring – either he walks out with the belt or I do. Curt, if you have the guts to show up, I’ll be ready for a fight. You should be ready to lose!’
Don Coss: “Strong words from the champion. Let’s go back to the ring.”
GREG ‘THE HAMMER’ VALENTINE VS. SCOTT DORING
Doring has been called the strongest man in wrestling by some, but he’ll have his work cut out for him here against The Hammer. Greg Valentine is methodical as he works over the right leg of the big man – cutting him down to size. After Doring misses an avalanche into the corner, Valentine sweeps the knee and locks in the Figure Four for the submission win.
WINNER: GREG ‘THE HAMMER’ VALENTINE
Don Coss: “I’ll speak with The Hammer, after this break!”

Don Coss: “Greg Valentine, welcome to the Northwest!”
Greg Valentine: “I think you mean, ‘welcome home’. That’s right, I’m from the Northwest – Seattle, Washington! Don Owen has made this territory a haven for the hometown boys. You have Billy Jack! Brady Boone! Jesse Barr! And yet, The Hammer has never wrestled in Portland. Why do you think that is?”
Don Coss: “I… I have no idea, Greg.”
Greg Valentine: “I think you do, Coss. I think the reason that Don Owen has kept The Hammer out of the Northwest is because he’s scared.”
Don Coss: “Scared?!?”
Greg Valentine: “That’s exactly right – scared. See, I’m not like Billy Jack Haynes or Jesse Barr. I’m not some dullard who can be manipulated by Don Owen. I broke Jay Strongbow’s leg! I crippled the so-called ‘world champion’ Wahoo McDaniel! Don Owen didn’t want Greg Valentine in the Northwest because he knew I’d cripple all of his fan favourites!”
Don Coss: “Well you’re here now. How do you explain that?”
Greg Valentine: “The way I see it, Don Coss had no choice but to bring The Hammer to the Northwest now. You’re looking at the premiere athlete in this sport. You’re looking a thoroughbred the likes of which have never been seen before. Don Owen had no choice – he couldn’t ignore Greg Valentine any longer!”
Don Coss: “I don’t know about all that Greg. However, I do know that you will be in that battle royal at the Portland Special – with a $2,000 gift certificate to Tom Peterson’s on the line!”
Greg Valentine: “Does it look I care about some electronics salesman with a flat top? I’ll spit on that gift certificate and throw it in the trash. But - there will be no denying that Greg Valentine deserves a shot at the World Title.”
Don Coss: “There you have it, fans! Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine has arrived in the Northwest – and he certainly has a lot to say!”
HACKSAW SAWYER VS. ‘EASY’ ED WISKOSKI
The big story here is that this is Buddy Rose’s shot at refereeing – if he does a good job here, he gets a full-time job as a referee in Portland. However, he’ll have to be fair and square in a match featuring his good friend Ed Wiskoski. Easy Ed tries to talk some ‘sense’ into Buddy before the match, but the Playboy is all business.
Buddy Rose call it right down the middle – even stepping in to warn Ed Wiskoski against using a choke. Wiskoski uses a few right hands, and Rose steps in to warn him against closed fists. Easy Ed is incredulous as he now starts arguing with his pal Buddy. This allows Hacksaw Sawyer to dropkick Wiskoski across the back and belly-to-belly suplex him. Sawyer makes the cover, and Buddy Rose counts a fair and deliberate one…two…three!
After the match, Ed Wiskoski is furious and he argues with Buddy Rose – who just shrugs his shoulders and goes to catch up with Sandy Barr.
WINNER: HACKSAW SAWYER
Don Coss: “I’m going to get Buddy and Don Owe up here to the Crow’s Nest when we come back!”

Don Coss: “All right, joining me right now is the man we just saw having his first match as a referee – Playboy Buddy Rose. Buddy, I have to say, you did a pretty good job!”
Buddy Rose: “Thank you very much, Don Coss! I just spoke with Sandy Barr, he says I passed the test! I’ll be getting my official referee license this week. All that’s left is for Don Owen to give me a shot. Don, after all the years, I think you owe that to me!”
Don Coss: “Don Owen joins us now. Don, I have to admit, the Playboy did a fine job as referee!”
Don Owen: “Buddy Rose, I’ve seen you do a lot of bad things over the years. You’ve cheated, lied and stole. However, even crooks deserve a second chance. You did a good job – so I’ll bring you on as a referee… on a provisional basis. But if there’s any funny business, I’ll can you!”
Buddy Rose: “Don Owen, thank you so much! You’re making my dream of staying in the wrestling business come true. I won’t let you down! I feel good, Coss! I feel real good!”
Don Coss: “Buddy, congratulations! Right now, it’s time for the main event – and it’s WWA World Champion Rick Martel in non-title action against Carl Styles!”
TV MAIN EVENT
BEST 2/3 FALLS
WWA WORLD CHAMPION RICK MARTEL VS. CARL STYLES
The World Champion gets a hero’s welcome as he returns to Portland for this TV main event. Don tells fans that Martel just unified the WWA Title , his Canadian Heavyweight Title and the International Heavyweight Title in Los Angeles two weeks ago with a win over Ron Simmons. This makes Rick Martel the only undisputed World Champion in the sport.
Carl Styles has an impressive physique and he shows some promise against Martel, but the world champion is at the top of hi game. Rick Martel uses a slingshot splash on Carl Styles to score a win in the first fall of this best two of three falls contest here on Portland Wrestling!
Don Coss: “We’ll be right back with the second fall!”

Don Coss: “Rip Oliver is with me before our second fall. Crippler, it’s been a tough week for the Clan.”
Rip Oliver: “I won’t stand here and lie to you – I’ve had better weeks. Last week right here on Portland Wrestling, I had the Northwest Title in my hands before Curt Hennig ruined it. Naturally, I figured I’d be getting a rematch at the Portland Special – but no! Don Owen puts the screws to the Clan again. I have to beat Hack Sawyer to get a second shot? Fine, that’s what I’ll do.”
Don Coss: “Your Clan members also seem to be having problems. We saw Mike Miller walk out on Mr. Ebony during their match with the Southern Rockers earlier.”
Rip Oliver: “Now that was a statement, Coss. The Clan has no time for losers – and Mr. Ebony is a loser. As of today, he’s fired from the Clan. Now, I have secured a rematch with Billy Jack Haynes and Chris Adams for those Northwest Tag Team Titles at the Portland Special. Mike Miller will have a very dangerous partner for that match. The Don has the money rolling in to The Clan, so ol’ Mike will have the best partner money can buy.”
Don Coss: “Care to elaborate? What do you mean by The Don?”
Rip Oliver: “All in good time! Last thing, let me just say this to you Curt Hennig. If you think I’m going to let what happened last week go, you got another thing coming boy!”
Don Coss: “An ominous warning from The Crippler! Let’s go back to the ring.”
Carl Styles bum-rushes WWA World Champion Rick Martel to get the second fall started. He uses a double sledge across the back to weaken the champion, and then suplexes him to the canvas. Carl Styles is signaling for that deadly Full Nelson now.
However, Rick Martel dodges his opponent and dropkicks him into the corner. Martel charges in and leap frogs Styles into the center of the ring. A frazzled Carl Styles then a double underhook suplex to the canvas, and Martel clamps on the Quebec Crab for the submission win. What a win for the word champion!
WINNER: WWA WORLD CHAMPION RICK MARTEL, 2-0
Don Coss: “We’re hopefully going to get Rick Martel up here for some comments. However, while we do, let’s look again the card for the Portland Special.”

Don Coss: “I seem to be saying this to a lot of people these days – but welcome back to the Northwest, Rick Martel!”
Rick Martel: “It’s great to be back. You know, I always considered Portland as a home away from home for me. I got my start here, me and my friend Roddy Piper. We had a lot of battles with Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver, Ed Wiskoski. It’s great to be back.”
Don Coss: “You return as the only undisputed World Champion in the sport today – as recognized by the great Lou Thesz. However, you have one heck of a challenge at the Portland Special from the man they call Mr. Wonderful, Paul Orndorff.”
Rick Martel: “I’ve wrestled Orndorff many times and he always pushes me to my limit. I’m ready for a battle, I don’t expect it to be easy. But fans, I’m promising you I will walk out as the World Champion.”
Don Coss: “It should be a great match. Great to see you, Rick! Fans, we’re all out of time. Right here next week, Portland’s Team will put those Northwest Tag Team titles on the line in our main event against former champions, the Magnificent Malenkos.
