STAMPEDE WRESTLING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1984
1pm - 2pm
TAPED ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11 AT THE VICTORIA PAVILION IN CALGARY, ALBERTA
ED WHALEN opens the show at ringside and welcomes us to STAMPEDE WRESTLING!
WHALEN quickly runs down some of the matches we’ll see today, including the Masked Superstar and another masked man, the Super Destroyer, facing Jim Neidhart and Mr. Hito. Plus, Bruce Hart will defend the British Columbia Mid-Heavyweight title against Great Gama, and in the main event, Bret Hart teams up with the reigning North American Tag Team Champs Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid, to face the trio of Johnny Smith, Kerry Brown and North American Champ Bad News Allen!
We’ll also hear from Bobby Heenan regarding Bobby Duncum turning down his offer on last week’s program.
KELLY KINISKI (w/ JR Foley & Kerry Brown) V. GERRY MORROW, JIP – Morrow gives Kiniski all he can handle in this match, but the constant outside interference from Foley and Brown is too much for Morrow to overcome. The match ends when Brown shoves Morrow off the top rope, while Foley distracts the referee, allowing Kiniski to get the pinfall.

COMMERCIAL BREAK and LOCALIZED PROMOS

ADRIAN STREET V. BEN BASSARAB, JIP – Only the final few minutes of the match are shown, though Whalen lets us know that we’re coming in at about the 12-minute mark. In those final moments, we see Street get the win with a flying bodypress from the top rope.
After the match, WHALEN conducts an interview with ADRIAN STREET in the ring. Street makes it clear that he wants Bruce Hart, and says that the British Columbia Mid-Heavyweight Title would look so much better around his waist than it does around Hart’s.
After Adrian leaves the ring, WHALEN interviews BOBBY HEENAN in the ring. Heenan asks BOBBY DUNCUM to come out to the ring, and a moment later, Duncum does.
Heenan says that he believes that Duncum has changed his mind about joining his stable, now that he’s had a week to reconsider.
Duncum shakes his head, and tells Bobby again that he appreciates everything Heenan did for him in the past, and he appreciates the offer, but he’s not looking to take on a manager.
Heenan’s face goes red, and he yells at Duncum, saying that Duncum is an idiot, he was nothing before Heenan took him under his wing in the AWA years ago, and he’ll be nothing now, without Heenan!
Duncum gets in Heenan’s face and tells Bobby he’d be wise to watch his tone. Heenan doesn’t heed the warning, and sticks a finger in Duncum’s face, telling him that he’ll be sorry.
Duncum grabs Heenan by the collar! Heenan changes his tune in a hurry, pleading with Duncum to let him go, saying he let his emotions get the better of him, and he’s sorry.
Duncum lets go of Bobby, and turns to leave . . . BUT HE’S BLINDSIDED BY THE MASKED SUPERSTAR!!!
The Superstar appeared out of nowhere, and he drops Duncum with a clothesline to the back of the head, then puts the boots to Duncum. Duncum tries to fight his way back to his feet, but Heenan grabs the microphone from Whalen, and wraps the cord around Duncum’s neck, choking him.
JIM NEIDHART and MR. HITO rush out to the ring, and both grab chairs at ringside before entering the ring. The Superstar and Heenan bail as Neidhart and Hito swing the chairs at them. Neidhart and Hito then check on Duncum as we go to a commercial break.

THE MASKED SUPERSTAR & THE SUPER DESTROYER (w/ Bobby Heenan) V. JIM NEIDHART & MR. HITO, JIP – The match is a wild one, as the four men brawl in and out of the ring. Late in the match, Bobby Heenan makes his presence known, as he trips Mr. Hito as he runs the ropes. The distraction is all the Masked Superstar needs, as he locks on the Cobra Clutch for the victory.
ED WHALEN interviews SUPERSTAR, SUPER DESTROYER, and HEENAN in the ring after the match. Superstar says that what they just did to Neidhart and Hito is the same thing they’ll do to Bobby Duncum if he ever puts his hands on Heenan again.
Heenan says that he’s not going to let what happened with Duncum deter him, he’s going to rebuild the Heenan Family here in Stampede, and anyone that gets in his way, especially Bobby Duncum, will get crushed!
BRITISH COLUMBIA MID-HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE:
BRUCE HART (Champion) V. GREAT GAMA, JIP – The fans are treated to an exciting, fast-paced match between two of the top Mid-Heavyweight wrestlers in the game today. Hart had been successful in past matches with Gama, but Singh gave him all he could handle here. In the end, Bruce gets the win after locking Gama in the Hart Breaker, a reverse Figure-4 Leglock.

BAD NEWS ALLEN & JOHNNY SMITH & KERRY BROWN (w/ JR Foley) V. BRET HART & DYNAMITE KID & DAVEY BOY SMITH, JIP – We join the match only a few minutes in, and Foley’s team has the match well in hand. They’ve got Davey Boy Smith isolated in their corner, and they take turns working him over. At one point, Davey Boy is able to get to his corner for the tag, but JR Foley got up on the apron and distracted referee Wayne Hart, causing Hart to miss the tag, and force Dynamite Kid out of the ring. Davey Boy took plenty more punishment, but the heels couldn’t put him away.
Finally, Davey Boy made the hot tag, which the referee saw, and Bret Hart came in like a house o’ fire, and cleared the ring. All three heels came back into the ring to attack Bret, leading to Dynamite Kid coming in as well. A big brawl errupted, with Davey Boy eventually recovering from the beating he took, and getting in on the action as well.
With all six men brawling in the ring, JR Foley sneaks into the ring and hits Davey Boy in the back of the head with a foreign object, but Wayne Hart sees it, and calls for the bell, disqualifying Allen, Johnny Smith, and Kerry Brown!
While Johnny Smith pounds away on his brother, and Dynamite and Kerry Brown lock up in another corner of the ring, Bad News Allen sucker punches Bret, then tosses him outside the ring.
On the floor, Allen posts Bret, opening up a cut on his forehead, then PILEDRIVES BRET ON THE ARENA FLOOR!!!!
At that point, the babyface locker room empties, and the wrestlers chase Bad News, Brown and Johnny Smith from the ring, along with JR Foley.
Medical personnel come out and Bret Hart is loaded onto a stretcher. Davey Boy and Dynamite Kid, with concerned looks on their faces, walk with the medical team as they take the stretcher to the back.
WHALEN, in a somber mood after what just happened, says that everyone involved with Stampede Wrestling hopes that Bret didn’t suffer any serious injuries as a result of that Piledriver, though he wonders what kind of shape Bret will be in next Saturday night in Edmonton, where he is scheduled to challenge Bad News for the NA title in a Harlem Streetfight. He wonders if Allen was that scared of Bret, that he had to take him out before the scheduled match.
ED then quickly talks about next week’s show, and wraps things up.
