“TODAY’S SUPERSTARS AND TOMORROW’S LEGENDS ARE HERE IN USA WRESTLING! WELCOME TO THE HOTTEST ACTION IN THE SOUTHEAST!”
Clips from last week’s tag team main event open the show this week, as we see The Dirty White Boy scoring a pin over USA Heavyweight Champion Tim Horner. We go now to the studio where Randy Hales is standing by. Hales announces a big main event as Hector and Mando Guerrero make special one-nightly-only appearance to take on the duo of Scott Steiner and Billy Joe Travis. Plus, we’ll have USA Champion Tim Horner in action and Phil Hickerson squares off with young Shane Douglas. Perhaps the biggest news of all is that a man claiming to be the rightful World Heavyweight Champion – Nick Bockwinkel – will be here live on USA Wresting ’86.
USA Champion Tim Horner pinned Don Fargo at 7:21 in a tough match when Horner connected with the flying dropkick off the top rope.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #1
USA Heavyweight Champion Tim Horner is standing by with Randy Hales. Horner once again tells Randy Hales that he makes no excuses for what happened last week. As far as he is concerned, Tony Anthony deserves a shot at the belt. Hales announces that the match will occur right here next week on USA Wrestling ’86. Horner knows it’s going to be a knock down, drag out fight – but he can brawl with the best of them! Tim reminds Randy Hales that he sent the Mongolian Stomper packing, and he’ll do the same with the Dirty White Boy.
Shane Douglas pinned Phil Hickerson at 6:45 when Hickerson missed a running splash into the corner and was caught in a belly-to-belly suplex. Hickerson shoved the referee and kicked the ropes after his loss, clearly frustrated with being beat on television for the third week in a row in upset-type fashion. This was Douglas' first match back since his injury a month ago in CWA.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #2
Brother Ernest was out with another edition of Quiet Time. This week, he’s asked for a guest to come out and that man is Phil Hickerson! A dejected Hickerson walks out on to the set and after being questioned about his losses, he admits that he is considering retiring because he doesn’t want to embarrass himself anymore. Brother Ernest tells Hickerson that the Good Book can be on his side – it can change Phil into a whole new man! All it takes is a dedication... and of course some financial support. Hickerson looks a bit wary, but finally agrees to follow Brother Ernest’s steps in getting his life back on track.
USA Tag Team Champions The Angels of Mercy (w/ Brother Ernest) defeated Jeff ‘Rattlesnake’ Raitz and Mike Jackson when Divinity connected with a clothesline on Raitz while Jubilation held off Jackson.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #3
Scott Armstrong was out with Randy Hales as we came back from break. Armstrong watched the footage of United States Junior Heavyweight Champion Nelson Royal out here criticizing him last week and he’d like to send a message to the champ. Scott has all the respect in the world for Nelson Royal as a wrestler, but the man has clearly let his success go to his head. Armstrong doesn’t like that Nelson mocked the fans and the other wrestlers here in USA Wrestling, and he surely doesn’t appreciate the unkind remarks said about Scott himself. Scott Armstrong is asking for the opportunity to get into the ring with Nelson Royal to decide who the better man really is.
‘World Heavyweight Champion’ Nick Bockwinkel defeated Johnny Rich at 8:11 when he forced Rich to submit to the Indian Deathlock.
Randy Hales join Nick Bockwinkel at ringside as Bockwinkel displays a shiny gold belt for all the fans to see. Hales asked how Bockwinkel could consider himself to be the world champion. Nick answers that it’s quite simple – he never rightfully lost the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. He was cheated out of that title by corrupt powers-that-be like Verne Gagne and Stanley Blackburn. "The fact is, Mr. Hales, that those felonious and larcenous circumstances can mean only one thing. Any objective observer would have to agree that the man standing before you now never lost this gold belt in the ring," he argued. That means that Nick Bockwinkel – not "the great pretenders Mr. Hogan, Mr. Flair or Mr. Von Erich" – is the rightful World Heavyweight Champion. "I was world champion while those three gentlemen were still breaking in their first pair of boots," Bockwinkel boasts. If any other so-called world champions have a problem with that, Mr. Bockwinkel will be happy to treat them to the wrestling lesson of their lives.
COMMERCIAL BREAK #4
#1 Hillbilly Ron Wright is already boasting about how “his new man” ‘Dirty White Boy’ Tony Anthony is going to win the USA Heavyweight Title right here next week. Randy Hales wasn’t aware that Wright was actually Anthony’s manager, but the Hillbilly assures Hales that he will be in the Dirty White Boy’s corner. Tony Anthony makes his way out now and tells Ron Wright that he "gets a kick out of the ol' Hillbilly". However, the Dirty White Boy doesn’t need a manager to get things done in professional wrestling. He can take on everyone in USA Wrestling on his own if he needs to! So thanks, but no thanks! Tony Anthony walks away as a dumbfounded Ron Wright wipes his brown with his handkerchief.
Billy Joe Travis and Scott Steiner defeated Hector and Mando Guerrero at 10:45 when Steiner managed to catch Mando by surprise as he turned a cross-body block into a ring-shaking power-slam for the pin. A win over a world-class team like the Guerreros surely puts Steiner and Travis in line for another shot at the Angels of Mercy.
